North Headquarters of Pomminryon Discusses Its Tasks for This Year

    Pyongyang, January 31 (KCNA) -- The 15th meeting of the Central Committee of the North Headquarters of the National Alliance for the Country's Reunification (Pomminryon) was held here Wednesday. The meeting discussed the agenda item "On reviewing the last year's work of the North Headquarters of Pomminryon and thoroughly implementing the three-point task of national reunification for this year."
    It reviewed the successes achieved by the headquarters in its activities last year to encourage all the Koreans in the north and the south of Korea and overseas in the patriotic movement for independent reunification, peace against war and great national unity in the idea of "By our nation itself."
    Then it advanced the tasks facing Pomminryon to conduct a more vigorous struggle for the implementation of the June 15 joint declaration and open up a new phase of national reunification this significant year marking the auspicious national holidays and the ways to carry them out.
    The meeting underlined the need for Pomminryon to lead all the Koreans to implement the three-point task of national reunification, rallied closer around the banner of the June 15 joint declaration upholding the slogan "Add brilliance to the June 15 era of reunification by attaching importance to the nation, maintaining peace and achieving unity!" this year.
    Attending it were presidium members of the headquarters and members of its Central Committee.
    The meeting elected some members to fill vacancies in the Presidium and the Central Committee of the headquarters.

Korean People's Greatest Holidays to Be Commemorated in Nigeria

    Pyongyang, January 31 (KCNA) -- An inaugural ceremony of the Nigerian preparatory committee for commemorating the Day of the Sun and Feb. 16 was held in Abuja on Jan. 22. The ceremony elected the vice-president of the Senate of the Nigerian National Assembly chairman of the preparatory committee.
    The preparatory committee set a commemoration period from Jan. 22 to Apr. 22 and discussed its plan to widely introduce the wise leadership of the peerless great persons and their immortal exploits and the reality of Songun Korea and intensify the solidarity movement for supporting the just cause of the Korean people in the period.

S. Korean Youths and Students Vow to Intensify Actions for National Reunification

    Pyongyang, January 31 (KCNA) -- Youth and student organizations in south Korea reportedly issued a statement on Jan. 26 in connection with the lapse of seven years after the death of Kim Ryang Mu, former permanent vice-chairman of the South Headquarters of the National Alliance for the Country's Reunification. The preparatory committee for forming the 15th-term south Korean Federation of University Student Councils in a statement said that Kim Ryang Mu waged an unflinching struggle for the repeal of evil law and for reunification and remained true to his will for reunification despite all forms of torture and persecution behind bars.
    The Korean nation which is ushering in a new era should put an end to the U.S. forces' occupation that has lasted more than six decades and glorify 2007 as a year of victory by carrying forward the spirit displayed by the martyr, the statement noted, and continued:
    To this end, it is necessary to attach importance to the nation, defend peace and achieve unity, and the youths and students are called upon to take the lead in this struggle against conservatism and the Grand National Party of south Korea and achieve without fail the national reunification what the martyr and all other Koreans desired.
    The South Headquarters of the National Alliance of Youth and Students for the Country's Reunification in a statement called on the youth and students to foil the GNP's attempt to return to power with the upcoming "presidential elections" as a momentum and bring about a new turning phase for independent reunification by following in the footsteps of the martyr who dedicated himself to reunification.

Joint Statement of DPRK Supported in India

    Pyongyang, January 31 (KCNA) -- The Indian Committee for Supporting Korea's Reunification made public a statement on Jan. 24 expressing full support to the joint statement of political parties, government and organizations of the DPRK. The statement demanded the south Korean authorities take actions for the withdrawal of the U.S. forces from south Korea and stop the arms build-up and joint military exercises targeted against their compatriots.
    All the patriotic forces in south Korea should form a great alliance against the conservatives to decisively check and frustrate the plot of the conservative forces to return to power, a design to make a mess of the gains made through the June 15 joint declaration through the "presidential elections" slated to take place this year and bring a war disaster to this land, the statement urged.
    It expressed the belief that all progressive political parties and organizations in the world that love justice and truth would extend unequivocal support and solidarity to the Korean people in their struggle to achieve the cause of independent and peaceful reunification of Korea.

U.S. Madcap Arms Buildup under Fire

    Pyongyang, January 31 (KCNA) -- The U.S. Solidarity Committee for Supporting the Struggle of the Anti-Imperialist National Democratic Front and the South Korean People issued a statement on Jan. 23 as regards the U.S. deployment of F-117 Stealth fighter bombers and support personnel in south Korea. The moves of the U.S. imperialists to create the military tension and the danger of war on the Korean Peninsula and bring nuclear disasters to it are bound to go bust, the statement warned.
    It urged the world peace-loving people to positively support and encourage the south Korean people in their anti-imperialist, anti-U.S. struggle and bitterly condemn the U.S. imperialists' frantic moves for arms buildup.
    The statement called upon the world friendly organizations and public figures to denounce the U.S. imperialists' moves for a war of aggression and positively support and encourage the Korean people in their anti-U.S. struggle.

S. Korean Organization Vows to Intensify Actions for Reunification

    Pyongyang, January 31 (KCNA) -- The Solidarity for Implementing the South-North Joint Declaration reportedly released a statement titled "Let's make 2007 a year of attaching importance to the nation, maintaining peace and achieving unity and thus bring about a new turn in the movement for national reunification" on Jan. 26. The statement accused the U.S. of getting evermore frantic in its preparations for a war of aggression against the north and working hard to help the pro-U.S. anti-reunification forces of south Korea come to power through the "presidential elections" slated to take place this year and thus bedevil the inter-Korean relations.
    The statement said that attaching importance to the nation is an essential requirement of the movement for national reunification as it is in line with the idea of "By our nation itself" and maintaining peace is the important issue related to the national reunification and destiny of the nation.
    Underscoring the need to abolish the "National Security Law," a hurdle lying in the way of warming the inter-Korean relations, and eliminate the pro-U.S. anti-reunification forces, the statement declared that the solidarity would wage a dynamic struggle for carrying out the three major tasks -- attaching importance to the nation, maintaining peace and achieving unity.

U.S. Chiefly Accountable for Posing Threat of WMD to World

    Pyongyang, January 31 (KCNA) -- The United States has recently raised a hue and cry over the so-called "threat of weapons of mass destruction (WMD) from north Korea". No matter how hard this assailant tries to paint itself as a victim, he will only strip bare his despicable nature. Minju Joson Wednesday observes this in a signed commentary. It goes on:
    The U.S. is none other than the chieftain of aggression that massacred innocent Korean civilians by using WMDs.
    The U.S. criminal use of germ weapons in the Korean war triggered off the towering resentment among broad strata of people in the world. It should have apologized to the Korean nation for its indiscriminate killing of innocent civilians by use of germ weapons and other WMDs.
    Instead of doing so, it has steadily shipped germ and chemical weapons into south Korea since the signing of the Armistice Agreement in frantic preparations for biological and chemical warfare.
    The U.S. moves for biological and chemical warfare have become evermore undisguised since the emergence of the Bush administration. The bellicose Bush group is spending 6.5 billion dollars for the research and development of biological weapons under the pretext of "combating terrorism by use of biological and chemical weapons." Japan's Ambition for Reinvasion Blasted

    Pyongyang, January 31 (KCNA) -- The ruling Liberal Democratic Party in the land of Japs declared at its convention some days ago that it would continue paying respects to the forerunners through visits to the "Yasukuni Shrine." And Abe, Prime Minister of the island country, remarked that he would tackle the work for revising the constitution. Commenting on it, Rodong Sinmun today says:
    This clearly proves that the reactionary ruling quarters of the island country took off even the nominal veil of "pacifist state" to openly step up the move to legalize their militarization and the overseas aggression.
    Such moves of the reactionaries in the land of Japs to cook up a war constitution can never be overlooked as they are a very dangerous criminal act intended to further fascistize the laws and political system of the country and establish a war-time system for legally mobilizing all the human and material potentials for aggression.
    It is evidently verified by the law on cooperation for the UN peacekeeping operation, the law on emergency in areas surrounding Japan, the law on special measures against terrorism, the emergency-related law and other laws, which were invented in the island country in last ten years.

    This year all the Koreans should wage a dynamic struggle against the anti-reunification forces by their concerted efforts to achieve peace and reunification of the country with high pride at the greatness of the nation.

Grand People's Study House

    Pyongyang, January 31 (KCNA) -- The Grand People's Study House in the central part of Pyongyang is a centre of education, science and technology. Many people of all strata visit the house for study every day.
    It has scores of lecture rooms and several information rooms where information, question and answer and transcription lectures, scientific and technological lectures, requested lectures, intensive lectures and foreign languages short courses are regularly organized.
    Lectures on scientific theories for scientific researchers and technicians and the requested lectures for working people have been held on scores of times in recent months.

Dynamic Land Administration Campaign

    Pyongyang, January 31 (KCNA) -- A brisk campaign for land administration has been conducted in the DPRK from the beginning of the year. Kim Kyong Jun, vice-minister of the Ministry of Land and Environment Preservation, told KCNA that the ministry has set up a go-ahead plan to bring about a new phase in the work for land management in response to the joint New Year editorial's call for turning the country into a socialist fairyland.
    This year greeting the 60th anniversary of the transplantation of a tree on Munsu Hill by the three generals of Mt. Paektu and the 50th anniversary of the transplantation of a tree on Mt. Jang by Kim Jong Il, he continued, we will plant good species of trees on the mountains across the country more than the previous year.
    Saplings are being manured and tended well at the big nurseries in different parts of the country and at nurseries in forest.
    Tree saplings will be planted in accordance with the topographical and plot characteristics and biological features of saplings on the principle of right saplings on right soil.

More Than 180 Cases of U.S. and S. Korean Aerial Espionage Committed in January

    Pyongyang, January 31 (KCNA) -- The U.S. imperialist aggressor forces committed more than 110 cases of aerial espionage against the DPRK in January by mobilizing strategic and tactical reconnaissance planes with different missions and the south Korean forces perpetrated at least 70 cases of similar aerial espionage during the month, bringing their total number to over 180, said military sources. The U.S. imperialists let two south Korea-based U-2s make simultaneous shuttle flights in the sky above Tokjok Islet and the areas of Phochon and Sokcho to spy on all areas in the depth of the DPRK on Jan. 24 and 26 each.
    Four RC-12s made long flights in the air above the areas of Kimpho, Hwachon and Sokcho to spy on the front area of the DPRK on Jan. 16, 23 and 28.
    A Japan-based EP-3 flew in the air above Taebu Islet and areas of Chunchon and Yangyang to spy on the coastal and front areas of the DPRK on the nights of the 8th, 12th, 17th and 22nd of January.
    The U.S. imperialist aggression troops and the south Korean forces mobilized eight strategic and tactical reconnaissance planes of different types for an intensive observation and espionage against the front area and depth of the DPRK on the 23rd, the 24th and the 25th of January each.
    Two or three RC-800s and RF-4Cs of the south Korean forces in coordinated operation with the U.S. forces flew in the air above Phochon, Hwachon, Rinje and Sokcho almost every day during the month to spy on the forefront and the central area of the DPRK.
    Such aerial espionage intensified by the U.S. imperialists and the south Korean forces against the backdrop of the U.S. imperialists' round-the-clock espionage against the DPRK by satellites clearly indicates that they are putting more spurs to their preparations for a war of aggression against it in the new year.

GNP Urged to Apologize for Killings of Guiltless People Perpetrated by "Yusin Regime"

    Pyongyang, January 31 (KCNA) -- A spokesman for the Central Committee of the Korean Social Democratic Party issued a statement Wednesday in connection with the fact that those related to the "case of the People's Revolutionary Party" faked up during the period of "Yusin" dictatorship were declared not guilty in south Korea recently. The statement said:
    The "case of the People's Revolutionary Party" was a typical, fabricated "pro-communist case" whereby the "Yusin government" detained those involved in the 1964 case of the "People's Revolutionary Party" and the 1974 case of the "National Democratic Youths and Students League" and the case of the "Committee for the Reconstruction of the People's Revolutionary Party" by labeling them forces manipulated by communists behind the scene and executed 8 of them within 18 hours after they were sentenced to capital punishment on charges of "conspiracy of a rebellion " and "violation of the anti-communist law."
    The results of investigation into the "case of the People's Revolutionary Party" made public in south Korea in 2005 under the pressure of the people for the probe into the truth behind the case proved that the case was faked up through torture. The recent court ruling goes to clearly prove the illegality of the case.
    The Grand National Party of south Korea, a party of remnants of the "Yusin government", has not made a remark of apology for the monstrous murder committed by its preceding party. Worse still, it is working with bloodshot eyes to seize power. It is as clear as noonday that a great number of people will meet tragic deaths if the GNP gentry are allowed to come to power.

Japanese Authorities' Suppression of Chongryon and Korean Residents in Japan Protested

    Tokyo, January 29 (KNS-KCNA) -- Principals, teachers and students of Korean middle and high schools in different parts of Japan, officials of the Union of Korean Teachers and School Clerks in Japan and other Koreans in Japan staged a protest on Jan. 26 denouncing the authorities of the land of Japs for becoming all the more undisguised in their suppression of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon) and Koreans in Japan from the outset of the year. On the same day its participants held an urgent meeting and went on a strike on the road in front of the Dietmen's Hall.
    Charging that the campaign against the DPRK and the suppression of Chongryon by the reactionaries of the land of Japs have become evermore undisguised in different parts of Japan since the outset of the new year and, at the same time, outcries and assaults against Korean schools and students are reported here in an unbroken chain, they demanded an immediate stop to such national chauvinist persecution and human rights abuses.

    They asked Dietmen from the Social-Democratic Party, the Democratic Party and the New Komeito Party of Japan for their cooperation, briefing them on the fact that the students of Korean schools are exposed to the threat to their safety while going to school and on their way back.

    　En este sentido, solo en los ultimos diez y tanto anos, en este pais fueron aprobadas "la ley de cooperacion con las actividades de la ONU para el mantenimiento de la paz", "la ley para el tiempo de emergencia del contorno", "la ley de medidas especiales frente al terrorismo", "la ley relativa al tiempo de emergencia", etc.
    　Aunque se difieren en nombres, todas estas legislaciones belicas serviran para el expansionismo del pais japi al justificar el despacho a ultramar y la operacion militar en el extranjero de las "fuerzas de autodefensa".
    　Al emprender activamente el camino de expansion a ultramar tras recuperar el derecho a la beligerancia y la participacion en la guerra, del cual fue privado Japon una vez derrotado en la Segunda Guerra Mundial, y convertir a las "fuerzas de autodefensa" en las unidades de flor y nata, los reaccionarios islenos pretenden llevar a la realidad su largamente acariciado sueno de la "esfera de coprosperidad de gran Asia Oriental", lo que no pudieron hacer en el pasado. EE.UU. representa amenaza de ADM, comenta Minju Joson

    Pyongyang, 31 de enero (ATCC) -- Con respecto a que ultimamente, Estados Unidos habla a bombos y platillos de la supuesta "amenaza de armas de destruccion masiva (ADM) del Norte de Corea", el rotativo Minju Joson difundio este miercoles un comentario individual. Por mucho que el culpable acuse a la victima, EE.UU. nunca podra encubrir sus crimenes de haber asesinado despiadadamente durante la pasada guerra coreana a los habitantes coreanos con esos artefactos letales, inclusive los bacteriologicos.
    Estas acciones genocidas produjeron la vehemente indignacion de numerosos pueblos del mundo, recuerda el comentarista.
    En lugar de pedir perdon a la nacion coreana por el respecto, aun despues de haber firmado el Acuerdo de Armisticio, el imperio acelero los preparativos para la guerra bioquimica introduciendo de continuo en suelo surcoreano las armas bacteriologicas y quimicas.
    De acuerdo con el Minju Joson, estas maniobras se tornaron mas abiertas en la administracion Bush.
    Bajo el pretexto de la "prevencion del terrorismo con armas bioquimicas", la banda de los belicistas al mando de Bush invierte 6 mil 500 millones de US$ en la investigacion y desarrollo de armas biologicas, en especial, construye para este fin un laboratorio de gran dimension en el Estado de Maryland.

    Pyongyang, 31 de enero (ATCC) -- Quedo constituido el dia 22 en Abuja el comite preparatorio de Nigeria para el Dia del Sol (15 de abril, cumpleanos del Presidente Kim Il Sung) y el 16 de febrero (cumpleanos del Dirigente Kim Jong Il). Como presidente de la entidad naciente fue electo el vicepresidente del senado de Nigeria.
    El comite fijo como periodo de celebracion desde el 22 de enero hasta el 22 de abril y abordo los asuntos relativos a dar a conocer ampliamente la sabia direccion de esos grandes hombres sin iguales, sus inmortales hazanas y la realidad de la Corea del Songun (priorizacion militar) y a intensificar el movimiento de solidaridad con la justa causa del pueblo coreano.

Asamblea del Comite Norteno para Ejecucion de Declaracion Conjunta

    Pyongyang, 31 de enero (ATCC) -- Tuvo lugar el dia 30 en esta capital la asamblea general del Comite Norteno para la Ejecucion de la Declaracion Conjunta del 15 de Junio. En la ocasion fue discutida la agenda: "Sobre el rumbo de actividades del Comite de la Parte Norte para materializar consecuentemente las tres tareas de la preponderancia de la nacion, la defensa de la paz y el logro de la union bajo la bandera de la Declaracion Conjunta del 15 de Junio".
    El informe de la ocasion estuvo a cargo del presidente de dicho comite, An Kyong Ho, quien dijo como sigue:
    El ano pasado, al desplegar con vigor los tres movimientos patrioticos por la reunificacion independiente, la paz contra la guerra y la gran unidad nacional bajo la bandera de "entre nosotros, los connacionales", todos los coreanos lograron un gran avance en la realizacion de la causa de reunificacion del pais.
    　Ademas, se fortalecio la solidaridad regional entre el Norte, el Sur y ultramar en torno al Comite Conjunto Nacional del 15 de Junio y se activaron el contacto y la cooperacion entre las entidades civiles.
    En calidad de organizacion solidaria del movimiento pannacional por la reunificacion, este comite, que abarca ampliamente a los partidos politicos, entidades y personalidades del Norte, el Sur y ultramar, debe elevar su funcion y papel y ganar mas terrenos entre los habitantes.
    A fin de lograr la reconciliacion y la unidad nacional y preparar la era prospera de la causa de reunificacion independiente, el informante propuso a los comites sureno y ultramarino celebrar en Pyongyang el acto conjunto nacional por el VII aniversario de la publicacion de la Declaracion Conjunta del 15 de Junio y en suelo surcoreano el acto del 15 de agosto por la reunificacion.
