Day of Sun and February 16 to Be Commemorated in Equatorial Guinea

    Pyongyang, February 2 (KCNA) -- The Equatorial Guinean national preparatory committee for commemorating the Day of the Sun and February 16 was inaugurated with due ceremony at the building of the Democratic Party of Equatorial Guinea on Jan. 26. The minister for Envoys of the Presidential Office, who is member of the National Council of the party and a special advisor for political and electoral affairs of the National Office of the party, was elected chairman of the preparatory committee.
    The preparatory committee decided to hold various events on the two occasions.

Meeting of June 15 U.S. Regional Committee Held

    Pyongyang, February 2 (KCNA) -- The 5th meeting of co-chairmen of the U.S. Regional Committee for Implementing the June 15 Joint Declaration was held in Los Angeles on Jan. 27. The meeting discussed the matters related to the first regular meeting of the committee to be held in Los Angeles on March 17 and its action program for 2007 and others.

Kim Jong Il's Birthday Celebrated

    Pyongyang, February 2 (KCNA) -- A meeting took place in Katmandu, Nepal, round table talks and a film show were held by the People's Unity Party of Tunisia and there was a seminar on the Songun idea in Kinshasa, Democratic Congo on Jan. 24 and 25 on the occasion of the birthday of Kim Jong Il. The participants of the film show watched the Korean film "Korean People's Army, Steel-Strong Ranks."
    Chairman of the Central Committee of the People's Front of Nepal Amik Sherchan who is deputy prime minister and minister of Health and Population in his speech at the meeting said that the people of the DPRK have achieved great successes in building a great prosperous powerful socialist nation, while meeting the challenges of the imperialists under the Songun leadership of Kim Jong Il. The Nepalese people are extending unequivocal support and solidarity to the Korean people standing for independence, justice and democracy in their just cause of struggling against imperialism, he stressed.
    Hussein Hamabi, member of the Political Bureau of the People's Unity of Tunisia who is deputy secretary general in charge of foreign relations of the party, said at the round-table talks that its party members are well aware of the great exploits performed by President Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il and extending firm solidarity to the Korean people in their resolute struggle against the U.S.
    Chairman of the Group for the Study of the Juche Idea at University of Kinshasa Bele Moukeleng addressing the seminar profoundly explained and proved the essence and position of the Songun idea.

Symposium on Architectural Beauty Held

    Pyongyang, February 2 (KCNA) -- A symposium on the architectural beauty applied to the renovated East Pyongyang Grand Theatre was held at the theatre on Feb. 1. Speakers said that the theatre has been completely renovated as a centre of art in the Songun era as Kim Jong Il set forth the policy of making the structure formative and artistic and gave meticulous guidance to the project.
    They explained that sculptural decorations were made to harmoniously match the whole appearance of the theatre and its three-dimensional space and pictorial style was creatively applied to decorating the theatre in order to make it appear formative and artistic.

Implementation of June 15 Joint Declaration Called for

    Pyongyang, February 2 (KCNA) -- The South Headquarters of the National Alliance of Youth and Students for the Country's Reunification reportedly issued a statement on Jan. 29 expressing the will of the youth and students to turn out in the struggle to implement the June 15 joint declaration by attaching importance to the nation, defending peace and achieving unity. The statement recalled that the joint statement of the political parties, government and organizations of the DPRK set this year as a "year of attaching importance to the nation, maintaining peace and achieving unity" and called for widening the road for exchange of visits between the north and the south of Korea and the field of assemblies for reunification and continuing to develop June 15 All-Korean Committee.
    Now that the United States and the pro-American conservative forces are becoming evermore pronounced in their moves against the reunification, the nation and the June 15 joint declaration, the slogan "Add brilliance to the June 15 reunification era by attaching importance to the nation, maintaining peace and achieving unity!" is hardening the will of all the Koreans for reunification, it said.

Fascist Tyrants Assailed for Fabricating Case to Kill Innocent People

New Stamp Issued in DPRK

New Method Estimating Cold Resistance of Trees Developed

    Pyongyang, February 2 (KCNA) -- The Branch Academy of Forestry under the State Academy of Sciences has established a new method of accurately estimating cold resistance of trees. According to Director Kim Yong, various kinds of trees to be estimated are planted in the same experimental plot to observe for 7-9 months. And then the measured values are analyzed in the mathematical modeling way.
    It makes it possible to accurately estimate such cold resistance of the given trees as the minimum growth temperature and distributional height.
    In particular, the estimation method by electric resistance needs less manpower and a short period. It can be applicable to all species of trees.
    As one can measure the cold resistance of trees without wintering, the method is of great practical significance and attracts academic interest.
    The economic effectiveness of the method has been proved through long trial application.

Japanese Authorities Urged to Stop Suppression of Chongryon

    Pyongyang, February 2 (KCNA) -- M. M. Alhassan, chairman of the Nigerian National Committee for the Study of the Juche Idea, on Jan. 19 sent a letter to the Japanese embassy in his country to protest against the Japanese authorities' campaign against the DPRK and the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon). The position of the DPRK is rising in international arena as the days go by and the Songun politics pursued by leader Kim Jong Il has served as a powerful weapon protecting the DPRK's sovereignty and peace and security of Northeast Asia and guaranteeing victorious advance of the cause of independence, the letter noted, and said:
    Displeased with it, the United States and its henchmen are making every possible effort to stifle the DPRK and what is more serious is that the island country is acting rashly against the DPRK and the Korean residents in Japan.
    We, who value justice and peace, vehemently denounce the unjust deeds of the reactionaries of Japan and urge its authorities to immediately stop all sorts of moves against the DPRK and Chongryon and apologize to the Korean people and the world progressives for them.

    @Al respecto, el periodico Rodong Sinmun publico en su edicion del dia 2 un comentario individual que sigue:
    Este veredicto significa un triunfo para los habitantes surcoreanos que en los ultimos anos desarrollaron una energica lucha en demanda de aclaracion de los verdaderos aspectos de todos los complots tejidos por los "poderes" tiranos y fascistas y una severa condena para los traidores vendepatrias, que convirtieron a muchas personas inocentes en chivos expiatorios para el mantenimiento del "poder", y sus descendientes.
    El "incidente del PRP" no pasa de ser una minima parte de los incontables complots y asesinatos antinacionales y antieticos cometidos en el pasado por los dictadores fascistas surcoreanos.
    Esas decadas del "poder" de la dictadura fascista se registraron en la historia como la era de gobernacion mas ignominiosa y barbara en este mundo.
    Aunque quedaron esclarecidos los complots y matanzas cometidos antes por sus camarillas y se comprobo la inocencia de sus victimas, el "Gran Partido Nacional" del Sur de Corea no quiere admitirlo siquiera, ni pedir perdon.
    Este ano, tendran lugar las "elecciones presidenciales" en el suelo surcoreano.
