Meeting of Frontrunners of Songun Revolution Closes

    Pyongyang, February 6 (KCNA) -- The meeting of frontrunners of the Songun revolution closed on Tuesday. The speakers at the meeting expressed the will to make a continued advance for greater victory, as required by the developing Korean revolution at a new historic turning-point, to carry out the militant tasks laid down in the joint New Year editorial and the congratulatory message of the Central Committee and the Central Military Commission of the Workers' Party of Korea and thus put the WPK's far-reaching plan into practice in a revolutionary manner.
    An appeal to all the servicepersons and people was adopted at the meeting.
    "Let us make a general advance toward the peak of a great prosperous powerful nation, full of confidence and pride of being victors of the Songun revolution!"--this is a slogan for the general march of the Songun revolution that we should hold high, the appeal says, stressing the need to make the revolutionary advance on a higher stage so as to give fuller play to the might of the country as an ideological and military giant and bring about a great turn in building an economic power.
    It further says:
    All of us should become genuine comrades and ardent fighters who trust and follow only Kim Jong Il and share his idea, purpose and destiny forever. And they should thoroughly arm themselves with the great Juche idea, the Songun idea, and become reliable defenders and strict executors of the Songun policy and remain intensely loyal to the Songun leadership of the Party.
    With the shouts of hurrah over the victory of the Songun revolution ringing louder, it is all the more necessary to firmly maintain the revolutionary and class principles and heighten revolutionary vigilance whereby to resolutely foil the moves to isolate and stifle the DPRK on the part of the enemies including the U.S. imperialists and the Japanese reactionaries and their psychological campaign and capitalist ideological and cultural poisoning for disorganizing it from within and firmly defend the characteristics of Korean-style socialism.
    There is not the slightest vacillation in the will of the WPK to bolster the national defence capacity, no matter how the situation may change, the appeal notes, calling on all the servicepersons and people to strengthen the arms of the revolution, not getting relaxed with the access to powerful nuclear deterrent.
    The main task in the present general march is to direct primary efforts to improving the standard of people's living and, at the same time, step up technological updating to put our economy on a modern footing and display its potentials to the maximum, it says, adding: All fields and units should always regard the Party's economic policy, principle of self-reliance and science and technology as the foundation for building an economic power and effect a great surge of the Songun revolution.

Foreign Crewmen Mark Birthday of Kim Jong Il

    Chongjin, February 5 (KCNA) -- Crewmen of the Chinese-flagged ship "Takaki-1" met in Chongjin Port on Feb. 5 to celebrate the birthday of Kim Jong Il. Present there were the captain and crewmen of the ship.
    Speakers said at the meeting that Kim Jong Il was born in Mt. Paektu, the sacred mountain of Korea, during the anti-Japanese war and grew up inheriting the personality and noble traits of the peerlessly great persons.
    Kim Jong Il, who is identical to President Kim Il Sung, has shattered the moves of the imperialists to isolate and stifle the DPRK with his invincible Songun policy, demonstrating the dignity of the country to the world, they stressed.
    They said that he enjoys deep reverence and boundless trust of all people as he has wrought miracles through centuries by conducting outstanding ideological and theoretical activities and providing tested leadership with his deep love for the people.
    The participants watched the Korean documentary film "The Great Leader Comrade Kim Jong Il Pays an Unofficial Visit to the People's Republic of China."

Anti-U.S., Anti-war Struggle Called for in S. Korea

    Pyongyang, February 6 (KCNA) -- The Solidarity for Implementing the South-North Joint Declaration and its affiliated organizations reportedly held an event called "Day of mass agitation in January against sanctions on the north, war and the U.S." in different parts of south Korea. Permanent co-representatives Kwon O Chang and Yun Han Thak, senior advisor So Sang Ho and advisors Ri Kwan Bok and Jong Kon Sang of the solidarity conducted information service for citizens in Seoul on Jan. 31.
    Saying that the sanctions and dialogue can never go together, they demanded that the U.S. give up its scheme for war on the Korean Peninsula, lift sanctions against the DPRK and strive for peace.
    Earlier, on Jan. 27 the Seoul Solidarity for Implementing the South-North Joint Declaration distributed to citizens in Seoul copies of literature calling upon all to turn out in the struggle for peace against the U.S. and war.
    On the same day the Taejon and South Chungchong Provincial Solidarity conducted information service in the plaza of Taejon Railway Station, putting up a suspension poster which contained words of protest against the Grand National Party of south Korea claiming that it would not rule out a war and raising a hue and cry over "threat from the north" and "uneasiness in security".
    The organization gave out handbills that condemned the U.S. for steadily renewing the scenarios for war of aggression on the DPRK and standing against the peace and reunification on the Korean Peninsula and the GNP for inciting confrontation among the compatriots.
    In another development, the preparatory committee for the Jeju Regional Solidarity conducted information activities in front of the Jeju City Office building on Jan. 27 and the Pusan Regional Solidarity in the subway on Jan. 26.

Apology of GNP for Atrocious Past History Urged

    Pyongyang, February 6 (KCNA) -- The Kwangju and South Jolla Provincial Solidarity for Implementing the South-North Joint Declaration on Feb. 1 reportedly released a statement titled "The Grand National Party Should Fall on Its Knees and Apologize for the Atrocious Past History" The statement recalled that the south Korean judicial authorities made public the list of the names of the judges involved in ruling "the case of the Reconstruction Committee of the People's Revolutionary Party" after declaring it not guilty.
    The GNP group, however, is threatening that it will "begin the verification of the Committee for Probing Truth of Past History", shouting itself hoarse that the activities for probing the truth of the past history are turning into a "witch-hunt" against it, noted the statement.
    It went on:
    Pak Kun Hye, former representative of the GNP, foamed at the mouth protesting that the activities of the committee are "a political offensive" against her while a spokesman for the GNP even let loose the outburst that the committee must be dissolved.
    The GNP opposes the probe into the truth of the past history so desperately because it is afraid of the exposure of its crime-woven history and the probe erects roadblock in the way of the realization of its foolish dream of arresting progress and going back to the era of dictatorship.
    The GNP should fall on its knees and apologize to the people for its crime-woven past history. If it tries to turn back the wheels of history, persisting in its nasty spate of outpourings, the people of broad strata will ostracize it in the name of the nation.

National Reunification Institute Exposes Crimes of Traitors

    Pyongyang, February 6 (KCNA) -- The National Reunification Institute on Feb. 5 issued a memorandum to let the world public know about the crimes committed by the group of traitors down through history against democracy, the nation and reunification on the lapse of 11 years since the formation of the "New Korea Party," the predecessor of the Grand National Party of south Korea. The memorandum cites facts to prove that the GNP is a group of traitors inheriting the "blood" of the most dastardly fascism and treachery and that it has committed crimes against the nation and reunification in the past decade.
    The history of the GNP originated from the "Liberal Party" under the Syngman Rhee regime which was succeeded by the "Democratic Republican Party" under the Park Chung Hee regime, the "Democratic Justice Party" at the time of the Chun Doo Hwan and Roh Thae Woo regimes and the "Democratic Liberal Party" and then the "New Korea Party" under the Kim Young Sam regime, the memorandum says, and continues:
    As for the "Liberal Party," the ancestor of the GNP, it earned itself an ill fame by leaving south Korea to the U.S. as a colony, reducing it to a lawless land dominated by fascist dictatorship, dividing the country and bringing the holocaust of war to the nation.
    Soon after the liberation of Korea the U.S. illegally cooked up the Syngman Rhee puppet regime in south Korea, divided the land and the nation of Korea into two and raked up pro-U.S. stooges to knock into shape a traitor party called the "Liberal Party." From the very day of its formation this party solicited the U.S. to destroy the fellow countrymen in the north to the last man and stubbornly opposed the signing of the Armistice Agreement, clinging to the coattails of the U.S. imperialist aggression forces. After the ceasefire it took an active part in its U.S. master's moves to provoke a new war, loudly clamoring for "reunification by marching northward."
    As the atmosphere for democracy and reunification through alliance with the north grew rapidly in south Korea after the end of the Syngman Rhee dictatorship, the U.S. orchestrated the "May 16 military coup" to put the military dictatorial regime in power and organized the "Democratic Republican Party" through a whole gamut of intrigues.
    No sooner had it made its debut than this party signed the humiliating "Status of Forces Agreement" with the U.S. to grant the U.S. forces in south Korea extraterritorial privileges. As if it were not enough, it set up the so-called "Combined Forces Command" with the U.S., thus legalizing the U.S. forces' permanent occupation of south Korea.
    Entering the 1970s, the traitors ruptured all the north-south dialogues that had been arranged with so much effort and committed such unpardonable treacherous crime as building a concrete wall along the entire length of the cursed Military Demarcation Line extending hundreds of kilometers, thereby bisecting the territory of Korea.
    After declaring "anti-communism" as "the state policy," the "Democratic Republican Party" staged the "Yusin coup" to stay in power permanently and brutally punished innocent people including democratic figures and pro-reunification patriotic personages opposed to it by invoking "anti-communist law," "state of emergency" and "emergency measures," thus converting the whole land of south Korea into a hell of murder, a prison without bars and an "anti-communist" tundra.
    The U.S. wire-pulled "the December 12 army purge coup" and put down the Kwangju popular uprising in a bloodbath and, in this sea of blood, put into shape the Chun Doo Hwan and Roh Thae Woo military dictatorial regimes. It then dressed military hooligans in plain clothes and framed up the "Democratic Justice Party."
    A special mention should be made of the fact that the regime of the "Democratic Justice Party" reduced south Korea to the biggest nuclear arsenal in the Far East and staged anti-north nuclear war drills including the "Team Spirit" joint military exercises with increased frenzy, thus driving the situation on the Korean Peninsula to the critical verge of a nuclear war.
    Finding it difficult to use the Chun Doo Hwan and Roh Thae Woo regimes of military dictatorship for the maintenance of the colonial rule any longer in face of the strong protest of the south Koreans and the whole Korean nation, the U.S. put up the "civilian" signboard and chose Kim Young Sam as its new stooge.
    Under the back-stage manipulation of the U.S. Kim Young Sam formed the "Democratic Liberal Party" in conspiracy with Kim Jong Phil, a remnant of "Yusin," and put up what they called "civilian government."
    The thrice-cursed gangster-like acts of the civilian fascist clique resulted in totally breaking off the inter-Korean relations that had been maintained through turns and twists even in the days of the preceding military regimes, thus leaving years of gap in them.
    When the south Koreans and all the Korean nation became increasingly critical of the regime's crimes against the nation the civilian fascist clique changed the name of the "Democratic Liberal Party" into the "New Korea Party" at the U.S. beck and call.
    But, in less than two years after its emergence, south Korea was placed under harsher fascist dictatorship and, to cap it all, its economy went totally bankrupt under the influence of "globalization" which finally put it under the "trusteeship." Much upset by this, they hastily knocked together the GNP, the most notorious traitor party.
    The GNP totally negated the historic June 15 joint declaration that has ushered in the era of independent reunification in the new century and desperately stood against reconciliation, cooperation and reunification. This is the most serious crime among all the crimes it has committed.
    The GNP stained with a thousand and one crimes and blood will face a stern punishment by the people's mindset.

Paektusan Cup Int'l Figure-skating Festival to Be Held

    Pyongyang, February 6 (KCNA) -- The 16th Paektusan Cup International Figure-skating Festival will be held in Pyongyang from Feb. 15 to 17 on the occasion of the February holiday. The festival will bring together ace skaters from different countries and excellent players of the DPRK.
    It is to be held in the form of exhibition performances in ice dance, pair, single and other events.

New Stamps for February 16 Issued in DPRK

    Pyongyang, February 6 (KCNA) -- New stamps (a value of sheetlet and a value of individual stamp) were issued in celebration of Kim Jong Il's birthday (February 16). The sheetlet carries the words and music notations of the revolutionary hymn "Song of General Kim Jong Il" against Mt. Paektu, the holly mountain of the Korean revolution.
    The revolutionary hymn sings of the immortal exploits of leader Kim Jong Il. With his leadership of the great Songun revolution, he is successfully carrying forward the Juche-oriented revolutionary cause, the cause of humankind for independence, pioneered by President
    Kim Il Sung.
    Reflected in the individual stamp are Kimjongilias, the immortal flower, in full bloom.

Brisk Geological Prospecting

   Pyongyang, February 6 (KCNA) -- Great efforts are being directed to the geological prospecting in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. The State Bureau for Direction of Natural Resources Development has recently dispatched geological experts, IT technicians and prospectors to the areas of Komdok and Kapsan to find out more nonferrous metal ore resources.
    While concentrating forces on the survey of the foundations of major construction objects, the bureau is pushing ahead with the work of finding out more reserve coal and ore mines with abundant deposits and securing the sites for detailed prospecting.
    The South Hwanghae Provincial Geological Prospecting Administration Bureau has surveyed the ingredients of sand in western coast areas in detail and secured quality sand resources available for hundreds of years.
    The South Phyongan and North Hamgyong Provincial Geological Prospecting Administration Bureaus also found out more anthracite and bituminous coal fields in western and northern areas.
    Geological corps under the North and South Hwanghae, Jagang and Kangwon Provincial Geological Prospecting Administration Bureaus have intensified geological prospecting work in their provinces, thus opening up a bright vista for excavating larger amount of non-ferrous metal ore.
    The South Hamgyong Provincial Geological Prospecting Administration Bureau has completed in a short span of time the foundation survey and designing for major projects of national significance, and the Sumun and Paekam Geological Prospecting Corps under the Ryanggang Provincial Geological Prospecting Administration Bureau have also registered successes in the survey work for the construction of the Paektusan Songun Youth Power Station and other projects.

Paektusan Cup Sports Contest Opens

    Pyongyang, February 6 (KCNA) -- The Paektusan Cup sports contest was opened. This contest, which is held on the occasion of the February holiday every year, greatly helps develop the nation's techniques of physical culture.
    The participants in the current contest will compete in eight events such as basketball, volleyball, table-tennis, ice-hockey and speed skating in Pyongyang, Samjiyon and other areas.
    Its opening ceremony took place at the Basketball Gymnasium in Chongchun Street here on Tuesday.
    Present there were Kim Jung Rin, secretary of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, officials concerned and sportspersons.

U.S. and S. Korean War Hawks Blasted for Air Reinforcement

    Pyongyang, February 6 (KCNA) -- The south Korean warmongers decided to introduce "F-15K" fighter-bombers and additionally purchase fighters of next generation from the United States while planning to deploy many assaulting helicopters in the near future. Meanwhile, the U.S. is going to deploy a squadron of F-22A Raptor Stealth fighter-bombers in its Kadena air base in Okinawa early this month, which is targeted against the DPRK. In this regard, a spokesman for the Korean National Peace Committee issued a statement on Tuesday branding such air reinforcement as a dangerous provocation that drives the situation to military confrontation and the brink of war.
    The statement said:
    The U.S. staged exercises for preemptive attack on the DPRK in the mid of last month and is almost every day committing air espionage on it. The facts go to prove that the U.S. call for "peace," "conclusion of war" and "dialogue" is nothing but a deceptive trick to mislead public opinion at home and abroad.
    The anti-DPRK war moves of the U.S. and the south Korean bellicose forces compel our army and people to bolster the deterrents for self-defence, more firmly taking arms of Songun.
    The U.S. and the south Korean military authorities should immediately stop all the reckless schemes for arms buildup and military provocation intended to invade the DPRK, mindful that such actions may aggravate the situation in the region, triggering off a new arms race and adversely affect the peaceful solution to the nuclear issue on the Korean Peninsula.

Japanese Authorities' Suppression of Chongryon under Fire

    Tokyo, February 4 (KNS-KCNA) -- An emergency rally was held in front of the building of the Hyogo Prefectural Police Agency of Japan on Jan. 29 to protest the authorities' wholesale suppression of the Hyogo Prefectural Commercial Association under the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon). Managing Director of the association Kim Yong Jun in a speech said that the Japanese authorities are ceaselessly applying threat and pressure to members of the association. He called upon all the officials of Chongryon and Koreans in Japan to fight in unity until they have won a victory.
    Then followed solidarity addresses.
    The ralliers marched around the agency building with copies of literature and placards in their hands, strongly urging the police authorities to immediately set free the arrested chief of the Hanshin Business Office and promptly return the confiscated materials.

Educationists of Chongryon Meet

    Tokyo, February 4 (KNS-KCNA) -- A meeting of educationists of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon) was held at the Korean Cultural Hall in Tokyo on Jan. 27. Addressing the meeting, Nam Sung U, vice-chairman of the Central Standing Committee of Chongryon, said the educationists should hurl themselves into an energetic educational work through the orderly regular and semi-regular educational networks of Chongryon ranging from the primary school to the university in the period of "the 6-month movement to greet the 21st Congress of Chongryon with brilliant successes".
    Ku Tae Sok, chairman of the Central Standing Committee of the Union of Korean Teachers and School Clerks in Japan, in his report laid down tasks to achieve a new progress in closing the ranks of educationists, increasing the number of students and the semi-regular educational networks and further improving the pedagogical qualities of the teachers.

Prospeccion geologica de Corea en su apogeo

    Pyongyang, 6 de febrero (ATCC) -- En estos dias, se desarrolla a ritmo acelerado la prospeccion geologica de Corea. La Direccion Estatal del Desarrollo de Recursos Naturales envio a los geologos, tecnicos de informatica y exploradores geologicos a las zonas de Komdok y Kapsan para buscar mas minerales de metales no ferrosos.
    Tambien concentra fuerzas a la prospeccion para la cimentacion de los importantes proyectos de construccion, mientras lleva adelante la busqueda de nuevas minas de minerales y carbon con ricos yacimientos y la localizacion de lugares de prospeccion detallada.
    A base de la investigacion concreta de la composicion de la arena de la costa occidental, la Direccion de Prospeccion de la Provincia de Hwanghae del Sur encontro yacimientos de arena de buena calidad explotable durante varios siglos.
    En tanto, las mismas entidades de las provincias de Phyong-an del Sur y de Hamgyong del Norte exploraron en las zonas occidental y septentrional del pais nuevos yacimientos de antracita y carbon bituminoso de buenas perspectivas.

Clausurado Congreso de Precursores de la Revolucion del Songun

    Pyongyang, 6 de febrero (ATCC) -- Quedo clausurado este martes el Congreso de Precursores de la Revolucion del Songun (priorizacion militar). En el conclave los oradores resaltaron que con la firme determinacion de cumplir las tareas indicadas en el editorial conjunto del ano nuevo y el mensaje de felicitacion a nombre comun del Comite Central y la Comision Militar Central del Partido del Trabajo de Corea, materializaran de modo revolucionario el magno proyecto de este, al marchar y marchar segun la demanda del desarrollo de la revolucion coreana, que entro en un nuevo periodo de viraje historico.
    En la ocasion fue aprobado un llamamiento dirigido a todos los oficiales y soldados del Ejercito Popular de Corea y todos los habitantes.

    Aunque resuenan cada vez mas fuertes las vivas de la victoria de la revolucion del Songun, debemos afilar el sable de principios revolucionarios y clasistas y redoblar la vigilancia revolucionaria para mantener puro el origen del socialismo al estilo coreano al frustrar tajantemente las maniobras de los imperialistas norteamericanos, los reaccionarios japoneses y otros enemigos, encaminadas a acorralar y atropellar a la Republica Popular Democratica de Corea, la guerra psicologica y la penetracion ideo-cultural capitalista, destinadas a descomponerla desde adentro.
    Sean cuales fueran las circunstancias, no habra ningun cambio en la voluntad del PTC de consolidar mas las fuerzas de defensa nacional.
    Por eso, debemos seguir fortaleciendo las fuerzas armadas revolucionarias sin relajarnos por contar con el poderoso disuasivo nuclear.
    La tarea principal en la marcha general de hoy reside en acelerar la reconstruccion tecnica para modernizar la economia prestando primordial atencion al mejoramiento de las condiciones de vida del pueblo y en poner en pleno juego su potencialidad.
    Todos los sectores y unidades deben avivar mas las llamas del gran auge de la revolucion del Songun tomando por la llave de la construccion de una potencia economica la politica economica del partido, el principio de autososten, la ciencia y tecnica.
