Crimes Committed by Successive Traitorous Parties in S. Korea under Fire
Pyongyang, February 8 (KCNA) -- The National Reunification Institute issued a memorandum a few days ago blasting the crimes committed by the successive traitorous political parties in south Korea 11 years since the formation of the "New Korea Party," the predecessor of the Grand National Party in south Korea.
Rodong Sinmun Thursday observes in a signed commentary carried in this connection:
The memorandum dealing with the crimes perpetrated by the traitorous parties is an indictment accusing the predecessors of the GNP of their crimes committed against the nation and reunification and a stern punishment meted out to the fascist traitorous party, a group of criminals, by the times and nation.
The past several decades covered by the group of traitors from the "Liberal Party" to the "Democratic Liberal Party" represent a history of crimes they committed against the nation and reunification by dividing the nation, kowtowing and yielding to foreign forces, pursuing confrontation with fellow countrymen and killing people. They are nothing but a history of murder and other crimes.
This party committed such thrice-cursed acts of sycophancy and treachery as turning south Korea into a colony of the U.S. imperialists, rubbing salt into the wounds of the Koreans suffering from the territorial division by building the cursed concrete wall, a challenge to their desire for reunification, and letting the U.S. convert south Korea into the biggest nuclear arsenal in the Far East and an advance base for aggression against the DPRK.
This party of traitors should have been eliminated from the arena of history as it is forsaken by the people for having perpetrated such hideous crimes. Nevertheless, these pro-U.S. traitors tried hard to calm down the anger of the south Korean people by changing the name of their party into the "New Korea Party." But it ceased to exist before being two years old as it failed to discard its inveterate sycophantic, fascist and anti-reunification nature. There grew from its roots a new poisonous plant called the GNP whose mission was to pursue acts of treachery with bloodshot eyes.
The GNP, a group of imbeciles who lack political sense and ignorant of the law governing the development of history, is making desperate efforts to revive the past dark era going against the desire of the nation and the times. This party is now getting so impudent as to become evermore undisguised in sycophancy towards the U.S., fascist suppression and moves against reunification in a bid to come to power.
The memorandum helps the Korean nation draw one more lesson.
A mad dog should be knocked down with a stick and the root cause of disaster completely removed, the commentary concludes.
U.S. Double Standards Blasted
Pyongyang, February 8 (KCNA) -- The U.S. unjustifiable policy of double standards must never be allowed, says Rodong Sinmun Thursday in a signed article.
Noting that the U.S. applies unwarrantable double standards to the nuclear issue, openly pursuing a policy of nuclear blackmail in disregard of the requirements of the Nuclear Non-proliferation Treaty and its commitments under the international law, the article goes on:
The U.S. is the chief violator of the NPT. It has neither justification to demand other countries to scrap their nuclear programs nor the qualification to "judge" others.
Japan, with the patronage and connivance of the U.S., has stockpiled plutonium enough to manufacture thousands of nuclear weapons.
Israel has also produced and stockpiled many nuclear weapons by stepping up its nuclear armament in secrecy with the patronage, connivance and cooperation of the U.S.
The U.S. should have taken issue with Israel's access to nukes. However, it has not put any pressure on it.
The U.S. undisguised application of the double standards is evidenced by the fact that it has promised cooperation in nuclear technology to countries remaining outside the NPT and is revealing its intention to conditionally allow peaceful nuclear activities of some countries.
While shutting eyes to and supporting the development and possession of nuclear weapons by pro-U.S. forces and its allies from the stand of unilateralism and prejudice, it styles itself a "nuclear judge", kicking up a row of pressure on those countries incurring its displeasure by pulling them up over their "nuclear issues". This is really the height of sarcasm.
The U.S. attitude over the nuclear issue on the Korean Peninsula clearly shows how far the U.S. has gone in its application of the double standards.
Efforts Redoubled to Build Economic Power
Pyongyang, February 8 (KCNA) -- Redoubled efforts are being made to build a socialist economic power in the DPRK.
The people are turning out in the grand march for perfecting the looks of a great, prosperous and powerful nation, full of confidence in sure victory and optimism.
The DPRK has consolidated the foundation for building an economic power over the last years.
The Workers' Party of Korea has developed in depth President Kim Il Sung's idea on economy as required by the developing revolution and thus provided unswerving guidelines for building an economic power.
While implementing the revolutionary economic policies of the WPK such as the line on economic construction in the Songun era with main emphasis on the development of the munitions industry and the policy of putting the national economy on a modern footing and IT, the Korean people have been firmly convinced that they will certainly build an economic power in this land when they work as indicated by the Party.
The army-people unity has developed as the oneness of army and people in terms of ideology and fighting spirit in the Songun era. It constitutes a powerful impetus to the construction of the economic power.
The Kanggye spirit, torchlight of Songgang and the Thaechon stamina have been created while the whole society following the revolutionary soldier spirit. The efforts have brought about a great change in the overall socialist construction.
Through the heroic endeavors, the people replete with faith in the future of prosperity have put industrial establishments, once stopped, on normalization of production and erected many monumental edifices including the Thaechon Youth Power Station No. 4.
An importance has been attached to science. A large army of intellectuals are paving the shortcut to the construction of an economic power with an extraordinary revolutionary enthusiasm.
A solid material and technical foundation for the construction of an economic power has been laid in the country.
All the sectors of the national economy have pushed ahead with the work of perfecting production structures, renovating technique and putting them on a modern footing, with the result that the number of such model factories in technical renovation and modernization as the Pyongyang 326 Electric Wire Factory is increasing as the days go by.
Production bases such as foodstuff factory, chicken farm, catfish farm, beer factory and cosmetic factory, which are directly contributing to the improvement of the people's living standard, have mushroomed in different parts of the country.
The DPRK, with all the conditions for leaping higher and faster, will demonstrate the might of an economic power in the near future.

South Korean People's Actions against FTA Supported
Pyongyang, February 8 (KCNA) -- A spokesman for the Central Committee of the General Federation of Trade Unions of Korea issued a statement on Thursday in support of the struggle of the south Korean people against the conclusion of the unreasonable “Free Trade Agreement.” The statement extended full support and encouragement to them, regarding it as a sacred patriotic struggle to protect the dignity and interests of the nation and their right to existence.
The United States has brought unbearable misfortune and pain to the south Korean people for more than six decades since its occupation of south Korea and, not content with this, it is keen to put them under such double and treble yoke of domination and subjugation as FTA in a bid to trample down upon their elementary right to existence, the statement noted, and continued:
It is ridiculous of the pro-U.S. conservative forces including the Grand National Party (GNP) of south Korea to be keen on abusing the above-said struggle of the people for realizing their plot to come to power while talking about “people’s living” and the like.
The statement urged the people from all walks of life in south Korea to categorically reject and bitterly denounce the negotiations between the U.S. chiefly responsible for their misfortune and sufferings and the south Korean authorities subservient to it and throw overboard the pro-U.S. group of traitors including the GNP as quickly as possible.

Kim Jong Il Gives Field Guidance to Power Station and Fish Farm
Pyongyang, February 8 (KCNA) -- General Secretary Kim Jong Il gave field guidance to the newly built Orangchon Power Station No. 1 and the Jangyonho Fish Farm.
The first leg of his guidance was the power station.
Going round a generator room and a power distribution room, he acquainted himself in detail with the construction of the power station and electricity production there.
The power station producing a lot of electricity by use of water of Orangchon was designed rationally and high quality has been ensured in its construction, he said, expressing great satisfaction over the fact that the people of the province have built a modern power station.
It is, indeed, something to be proud of that the builders have constructed such modern power station at a time when they were hard pressed for everything, he noted, adding it is a very good method of abiding by the principle of profitability that they have ensured the commissioning of the power station ahead of schedule in order to boost the effectiveness in the investment made in its construction.
He set forth the tasks to be tackled to operate the power station and make an effective use of the electricity produced by it.
Then he went round the construction site of the Orangchon Dam.
Feasting his eyes on the giant dam rising from across a ravine, he learned about the progress made in the project.
He called upon the members of the youth shock brigade and other builders to speed up the construction of the dam with the same vim and vigor with which they built the power station No. 1 in a brief span of time and thus complete the remaining project ahead of schedule.
In recent years we have built many power stations with large capacities in different parts of the country despite hard conditions, thus bringing about a rapid boost in the electricity production, he said, and went on: This signal turn is a striking proof of the validity and vitality of the WPK's policy of building minor hydraulic power stations on a large scale while constructing large ones.
In order to satisfactorily meet the rapidly growing need for electricity in North Hamgyong Province, it should give fullest play to the capacities of the already built power stations and, at the same time, build more new power stations by harnessing all the available hydraulic power resources, he emphasized. The next leg of his guidance was the Jangyonho Fish Farm.
He learned in detail how fishes are bred on the farm, going round fish ponds, spawning rooms and various other places of the farm.
He set forth highly important tasks which would serve as guidelines for conducting fish breeding as a widespread mass movement.
While providing field guidance to North Hamgyong Province, he advanced tasks to be undertaken by the province to put its economic work on a new higher stage.
North Hamgyong Province occupies an important position in ensuring the nation's economic development as it has lots of enterprises in the fields of metal industry and extractive industry and other pilot domains of the national economy, he said, calling on it to play a pioneer's role in the building of an economic power.
He was accompanied by Hong Sok Hyong, chief secretary of the North Hamgyong Provincial Committee of the WPK, Kim Ki Nam, secretary of the C.C., WPK, and Pak Nam Gi, department director of the same.
Kim Jong Il Gives Field Guidance to Primary Seasoning Factory and Power Station
Pyongyang, February 8 (KCNA) -- General Secretary Kim Jong Il gave field guidance to the Chongjin Primary Seasoning Factory and the newly built Army-People Power Station.
The first leg of his visit was the Chongjin Primary Seasoning Factory.
Going round its production processes, he acquainted himself with its reconstruction and production there.
Seeing a variety of primary seasonings palatable to the people's taste streaming out, he was greatly satisfied with the successful completion of a modern foodstuff factory to be greatly conducive to the people's diet.
He underlined the need to keep the production going at a high rate and thus make a substantial contribution to improving the standard of the people's living.
Many modern primary seasoning factories have sprung up in different parts of the country in recent years and the people have greatly benefited from them, he said, adding that a radical turn will take place in the diet of the people when the already built factories are operated in full capacity and, at the same time, the construction of similar factories are completed as scheduled.
The master key to keeping the production of primary seasonings going at a high rate is to satisfactorily settle the issue of raw materials, he said, stressing the need to scrupulously organize the work for laying solid raw material bases at cooperative farms and powerfully arouse the enthusiasm of farmers and thus produce and supply larger quantities of raw materials to the factories in good time.
It is important to raise the quality of primary seasonings as they are most essential for the people's diet, he said, stressing: To this end it is necessary to deepen researches into this field to ensure the uniform technical index and realize the automation of production processes on a high level.
The next leg of his guidance was the power station.
After being briefed on the construction of the power station before a huge painting showing its panoramic view, he made the rounds of a generator room, a power distribution room and other places of the power station to learn in detail about its construction and electricity production there.
He was greatly satisfied to learn that the modern power station has been built successfully to meet the need of the Songun era. He highly praised the builders and their helpers for their feats, adding that their construction of such modern power station in a short span of time is a precious fruition of their boundless fidelity to the revolution and ardent patriotism.
He advanced the tasks to be fulfilled to operate the power station, underlining the need to improve the management of equipment and technical control in order to operate it in full capacity.
He was accompanied by Hong Sok Hyong, chief secretary of the North Hamgyong Provincial Committee of the WPK, Kim Ki Nam, secretary of the WPK Central Committee, and Pak Nam Gi, department director of the same.
