KCNA Raps U.S. Despicable Psychological Warfare against DPRK
Pyongyang, February 22 (KCNA) -- The United States reportedly decided to allocate more funds for the broadcasting services engaged in the anti-DPRK propaganda out of its budget for fiscal 2008 and extend the broadcasting time for this purpose. "Radio Free Asia" decided to air medium-wave broadcasting programs beside short-wave broadcasting ones.
This indicates that the U.S. has become evermore undisguised in its moves to tarnish the DPRK's image in the international arena and destroy the socialist system in the DPRK since the outset of the year.
The above-said actions taken for such reptile broadcasting services as "Radio Free Asia" and VOA are part of the U.S. campaign against the DPRK.
The U.S. is now focusing its efforts on the false propaganda by use of reptile broadcasting services in a bid to bring about what it called "changes" in the DPRK and other countries that refuse to meekly obey it or incur its displeasure.
In this regard the south Korean magazine Sin-Dong-A said as follows:
"The Korean language broadcasting of RFA is not aimed at the south but at the north, to all intents and purposes.
The U.S. considers it as a lever for pressure to extend the time for RFA broadcasting in the language in the very country against which it is targeted in case U.S. conflict with the country mounts.
RFA, the anti-north broadcasting service, is functioning as a valuable entity for which the U.S. does not spare unequivocal assistance in a bid to bring about a change there."
RFA mainly tasked to conduct smear propaganda against Asian countries started its Korean broadcasting programs early in March of 1997. The U.S. has steadily increased funds for broadcasting programs and systematically lengthened the time for anti-DPRK programs. It allocated two million dollars for this broadcasting in fiscal 1998 and decided to spend a stupendous amount of funds till 2008 according to the North Korean Human Rights Act.
The recent decision made by the U.S. suffices to guess what phase its dangerous hostile policy toward the DPRK has reached.
What should not be overlooked is that spokesmen for American policy makers are blustering that that the draft budget for escalating broadcasting propaganda would play a pivotal role in spreading freedom and democracy in the important region and it has become possible for the U.S. to produce a draft budget to address most urgent and crucial threat to security.
The U.S. is sadly mistaken if it calculates that such propaganda machines would help spread freedom and democracy and bring down the socio-political system in the DPRK.
Ours is a politically stable and rock-solid system as it guarantees all members of the society genuine freedom and democracy. No force can destroy this system.
Such despicable psychological warfare launched by the U.S. to bring about a sort of "change" in the DPRK's dignified and inviolable system and society is nothing but the last-ditch efforts made by those who know nothing about the single-minded unity that exists in the DPRK where the leader, the party and the people have formed a harmonious whole.
The U.S. psychological warfare will get it nowhere. It will only reinforce the Korean people's will and faith to consolidate in every way socialism and the one-minded unity, a precious gain and eternal cornerstone of the revolution.
February Holiday Celebrated in Peru and Syria
Pyongyang, February 22 (KCNA) -- Seminars and film shows took place in Peru and Syria on Feb. 12 on the occasion of the February holiday.
Manuel Castillo Cabrera, international secretary of the Central Committee of the Peruvian Communist Party, in a speech highly praised Kim Jong Il as a great man and a prominent statesman possessed of unique ideology and theory and distinguished leadership ability, saying that socialism of Korea is invincible as it is guided by him, the sun of the 21st century.
Yuri Cesar Castro Romero, secretary general of the Peruvian-Korean Institute of Culture and Friendship, noted that Kim Jong Il, who was born as the bright star of Mt. Paektu, has wisely led the Workers' Party of Korea and the army and people to achieve victory one after another. He further said: The decision on awarding the "International Kim Il Sung Prize" to him on his birthday reflects the unanimous best wishes of the world people boundlessly revering and following him.
The dean of the Political Science Faculty of University of Damascus of Syria said that the birthday of Kim Jong Il, who is identical to President Kim Il Sung, is a holiday common to the world progressives.
The participants of the film shows watched Korean films "The Great Leader Comrade Kim Jong Il Gives Field Guidance to the Work of Different Domains" and "The Korean People's Army, Steel-like Ranks."
Decision on Awarding Title of Honorary Academician of "International Sociology Academy"
Pyongyang, February 22 (KCNA) -- The Russian International Charity Fund "Protectors of Arts for the Century" adopted a decision to award the title of honorary academician of the "International Sociology Academy" to Kim Jong Il on his birthday.
A letter on the decision was handed to the DPRK ambassador to Russia by President of the fund O. V. Oleinik on Feb. 16.
Letter to Kim Jong Il from Russian Figures
Pyongyang, February 22 (KCNA) -- General Secretary Kim Jong Il received a letter from the president and figures of the Russian International Charity Fund "Protectors of Arts for the Century" on Feb. 16 with regard to the decision to award him the title of honorary academician of the "International Sociology Academy" on his birthday.

To be engraved on the monument are the august names of Kim Il Sung, the great leader, teacher of the Korean people and eternal president, and of you.
A Russian delegation consisting of delegates from all parts of Russia will be present at the grand ceremony.
The grand unveiling ceremony of the monument in Pyongyang on the Day of the Sun, the significant holiday of the Korean people will be a great historical event and undoubtedly be conducive to boosting the traditional friendship and cooperation between the peoples of the two countries.
Actions for Repeal of NSL Called for in S. Korea
Pyongyang, February 22 (KCNA) -- The Central Committee of the Anti-Imperialist National Democratic Front made public an appeal to all the people on Feb. 20, according to the Internet Site Kuguk Jonson.
The appeal called on the south Koreans to turn out as one in the struggle to deal a heavy blow at the pro-U.S. conservative forces in their desperate moves to return to "power" by invoking the "National Security Law" and to put an end to the NSL, an anti-reunification fascist law.
The traitors of the Grand National Party of south Korea seldom let a chance pass by without crying out for eliminating the forces supporting the June 15 joint declaration, dead-set against the repeal of the NSL, the appeal said, and went on: They are making desperate efforts to destroy the forces for progressive reforms, patriotic forces for reunification at any cost by invoking the evil law and grab power through the forthcoming "presidential elections" come what may.

The forces supporting the June 15 joint declaration should turn out as one in the struggle against the GNP irrespective of class, social stratum, party affiliation, position, party grouping and religious belief to inflict a bitter defeat upon it in the "presidential elections" this year and thus throw this group of traitors and the NSL into the dumping ground of history without fail.
It called for closely combining the struggle for the repeal of the NSL with the actions for independence against the U.S. to put an end to its domination and occupation of south Korea. It also called upon all the organizations for the reunification movement and forces for progressive reforms to boost solidarity and alliance in the struggle to abolish the NSL and undertake a dynamic joint struggle.
Russian "Day of Protectors of Country" Observed
Pyongyang, February 22 (KCNA) -- A press conference and film show took place at the Russian embassy here on Feb. 21 to observe the "Day of Protectors of Country."

Russian Ambassador to the DPRK Valery Sukhinin was present.
Addressing the press conference, Russian Military Attache Igor Pablov referred to the significance and importance of the day, adding that the servicepersons and people of the Soviet Union displayed patriotic devotion and unparalleled bravery during the period of the Great Patriotic War.
The Russian armed forces are now faced with the task to defend the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country and beat back the outside forces' military aggression, he noted, and continued:

Pyongyang, February 22 (KCNA) -- Kim Yong Nam, president of the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly, sent a message of greetings to Bharrat Jagdeo, President of Guyana, on Feb. 21 on the occasion of the 37th anniversary of the proclamation of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana.

Pyongyang, February 22 (KCNA) -- The Scientific and Technical Service Center under the DPRK State Academy of Sciences is engaged in introduction and propagation of information on advanced technology, various kinds of machines and equipment, production processes, products, books on science and technology at home and abroad, while rendering special technical services.
The center has collected an enormous amount of scientific and technological information on electricity, coal, metal, mining, electronic automation, agriculture, stock-breeding, fishery, communications, transportation and so on.
It has recently built a virtual exhibition of science and technology and a large information database to introduce international fairs and exhibitions and disseminate facilities and data needed for scientific and technological research. It has also established a consultation system for information services.

Japanese Police Authorities' Unabated Suppression under Fire
Tokyo, February 20 (KNS-KCNA) -- The Sapporo police authorities of Hokkaido, Japan hurled a task force, policemen and investigators into another unpardonable search operation against the office of the Hokkaido Commercial Association of Koreans in Japan for four hours on Feb. 14.
Infuriated by this, its officials and Koreans staged a protest in front of the office, holding a placard and slogan board despite cold.
They bitterly denounced the Japanese police authorities' repeated suppression as a fascist tyrannical action to estrange the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon) from Koreans in Japan and destroy Chongryon.
They declared that Chongryon officials and Koreans in Japan would firmly unite to carry on their protest in the future, too.

Pyongyang, 22 de febrero (ATCC) -- Tuvo lugar el dia 21 en la Casa Central de la Juventud el acto central de recordacion al combatiente revolucionario Choe Kwang con motivo del X aniversario de su fallecimiento.
Al acto asistieron Kim Yong Chun, Kim Il Chol, Choe Thae Bok, Yang Hyong Sop, Kim Ki Nam, los miembros del Consejo de Ministros, funcionarios de los organismos del partido, las fuerzas armadas y el Poder, organizaciones de masas, ministerios y organismos centrales, oficiales y soldados del Ejercito Popular de Corea (EPC), trabajadores capitalinos y familiares de los martires revolucionarios.
Choe Kwang, nacido en julio del 7 (1918) de la Era Juche en una familia de un campesino pobre en la tierra foranea, participo temprano en la Lucha Armada Antijaponesa siguiendo la direccion del Presidente Kim Il Sung e hizo gran aporte a lograr su triunfo.

Centro de servicio cientifico-tecnico
Pyongyang, 22 de febrero (ATCC) -- En Corea esta el Centro de Servicio Cientifico-Tecnico adscrito a la Academia Estatal de Ciencias.
El centro da a conocer las avanzadas tecnicas del pais y de los extranjeros, diversas maquinas e instalaciones, procesos y articulos de produccion, libros de ciencias y tecnicas, etc. y se encarga exclusivamente de servicios tecnicos.
Ofrece los datos de informatica cientifico-tecnica referentes a la energia electrica, carbon, metal, mineria, automatizacion electronica, agricultura, ganaderia, industria pesquera, transporte, etc.
Ultimamente el centro preparo un pabellon de exhibicion imaginaria de ciencias y tecnicas y una gran base de datos de informatica, divulga los datos de instalaciones necesarias a la investigacion cientifico-tecnica y de exposiciones internacionales y realiza servicios de informatica mediante el sistema consultivo.
Ademas, el centro da el servicio tecnico necesario a la renovacion tecnica de las fabricas y empresas a traves de la consulta con los cientificos y tecnicos.
Segun el director Kang Il, el centro concluyo contratos interinos de servicio de tecnicas y venta con las empresas de varios paises y hace el intercambio para introducir las avanzadas tecnicas y productos extranjeros.
