Japan's Dangerous Drive to Become Military Giant Debunked
Pyongyang, March 5 (KCNA) -- Japan launched again an H-2A rocket loaded with information and optical satellites.
Commenting on this, a news analyst of Rodong Sinmun Monday says:
The full-dressed launching of spy satellites by Japan under the plausible cloak of "scientific researches" goes to prove that its moves for turning itself into a military giant and staging reinvasion have reached a dangerous phase.
The Japanese reactionaries have not abandoned even a moment their old dream of "the Greater East Asia Co-prosperity Sphere" which fizzled out in the past. Now they are putting spurs to the building of a military power in a bid to realize it in the new century at any cost.
The Japanese reactionaries are working to throw a spy satellite network in the space to commit espionage against the DPRK and other countries and round off preparations for overseas aggression.
Japan's madcap launching of spy satellites is a criminal act of gravely menacing peace and stability in the Korean Peninsula and Asia as it is a link in the whole chain of its ever-more open moves for reinvasion of the region.
Ever growing is the danger of Japan's scheme to throw a network of spy satellites in the space under the excuse of advance detection of someone's "threat" and "military action" and use it in its overseas aggression.
It is quite natural for the peace-loving progressives of the world to heighten vigilance against Japan's launching of spy satellites and moves to become a military giant, watching them on alert.
Japan should face up to the watchful eyes of the world and give up its drive for building a military power and venturing overseas expansion.
NA Urged Not to Ratify Humiliating Agreement
Pyongyang, March 5 (KCNA) -- At least 910 figures of all strata including political, labor and educational circles in south Korea reportedly issued the second declaration on Feb. 26 urging the "National Assembly" (NA) not to ratify the humiliating special agreement on sharing the funds for the upkeep of the U.S. forces in south Korea.
Referring to the fact that the above-mentioned special agreement is now under discussion at the NA, the declaration said that it calls on south Korea to pay 725.5 billion won or 6.6 percent more than last year for the upkeep of the U.S. forces in south Korea this year and it also envisages the offer of a larger amount of money to the U.S. forces according to the expected commodity price soaring in 2008.
This is a treacherous action as it runs counter to the desire of the people from all walks of life for the relaxation of the military tensions and the establishment of a peace-keeping mechanism on the Korean Peninsula, it noted, urging the NA to refuse to ratify the special agreement and adopt a resolution demanding the "government" renegotiate it with the U.S.

Japanese Reactionaries' Suppression of Chongryon Denounced in Nepal
Pyongyang, March 5 (KCNA) -- The Nepal-Korea Friendship Association, the Institute for the Juche Studies, the Association for Supporting the Songun Politics, the Journalist Association, the Peace Action Committee, the National Press Club, the Study Forum for Self-Reliance, the Baktapur Society for Korea Study and the Committee for Supporting the Reunification of Korea of Nepal made public a joint statement on Feb. 26, denouncing the Japanese reactionaries' suppression of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon) and Koreans in Japan.
The statement accused the Japanese authorities of arresting Koreans in Japan without any ground while searching organizations under Chongryon, schools and dwelling houses of Koreans and floating distorted reports to impair the image of Chongryon.
We regard such brutal suppression as an intolerable infringement upon the sovereignty of the DPRK, a dignified socialist country, and an unprecedented crime, it said.
It strongly demanded the Japanese authorities immediately stop the frantic anti-Chongryon campaign and suppression of Koreans in Japan and truly respect and protect the Koreans in Japan with historical and moral sense of obligation.
South Korean Organization Flails Suppression of Koreans in Japan
Pyongyang, March 5 (KCNA) -- The Youth and Students Solidarity to Implement the June 15 Joint Declaration in south Korea reportedly said it would fight against the Japanese authorities' suppression of Koreans in Japan with the wisdom, valor and united strength of the Korean nation displayed in the March First Popular Uprising against the Japanese imperialists, the robbers, for independence and dignity, the life of the nation.
The organization in its statement on March 1, the 88th anniversary of the uprising, noted that the Japanese authorities were escalating their suppression of Koreans in Japan under the pretext of the north's nuclear deterrent for self-defense. This reveals their foolish dream to gratify again their ambition for aggression on the Korean Peninsula and the rest of Northeast Asia, it added.
The entire Korean nation, it said, should carry forward the spirit of national independence and patriotic spirit of resistance displayed in the March First Popular Uprising and thus glorify the June 15 era of reunification by attaching importance to the nation, defending peace and achieving unity.
Japanese Authorities' Suppression Protested
Pyongyang, March 5 (KCNA) -- A meeting of Koreans in Japan was held in Tokyo on Mar. 3 to denounce the Japanese authorities' unjust political suppression and human rights abuses against the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon) and Koreans in Japan.
Present there were Chairman So Man Sul, Chief Vice-Chairman Ho Jong Man and vice-chairmen, the secretary general and advisers of the Chongryon Central Standing Committee.
Nam Sung U, vice-chairman of the Chongryon Central Standing Committee, made a report at the meeting.
The reporter charged that though 88 years have passed after the March First Popular Uprising, the descendants of the Japanese imperialist war criminals have not yet redressed for the crimes they committed against the Korean nation generation after generation, but are still hell-bent on the crackdown upon Chongryon and Korean residents in Japan.
With a wicked political scheme, the Japanese authorities have disallowed entry of the DPRK ship "Mangyongbong-92" into a Japanese port while making desperate efforts to suffocate Chongryon and Koreans in Japan through a chauvinist campaign for persecution and illegal oppression of Korean nationals, he pointed out.
He strongly demanded that the Japanese government stop at once its anti-DPRK policy, political suppression and human rights abuses against the Korean residents, which go against the international political trend.
At the meeting, indignation speeches were made by Pak Chang Gil, chairman of the Tokyo Metropolitan Headquarters of Chongryon, O Jae Se, director-general of the Korean Federation of Workers in Commerce in Japan, Ryang Ok Chul, vice-chairwoman of the Korean Democratic Women's Union in Japan, and Kim Cha Dol, director of the General Affairs Department of the Korean Youth League in Japan.
Also solidarity speeches were made by Sumiko Shimizu, representative of the Japanese Women's Society for Solidarity with the Korean Women, Prof. Kenichi Asano, lawyer Shigeru Tokoi and Song Se Il, secretary general of the Alliance of South Koreans in Japan for Democracy and National Unification.
An appeal to all Koreans in Japan was read out at the meeting.
And introduced were messages of encouragement from 54 public organizations in south Korea, six organizations of overseas Koreans and Japanese personages from different standings.
Then So Chung On, director of the International Department of the Chongryon Central Standing Committee, gave a briefing on his activities. He participated in the "information meeting and seminar on the human rights abuses against Korean students in Japan" held in south Korea on Feb. 28.
Introduced were placards carrying such letters as "The Japanese authorities, lift the sanctions against the DPRK and repeal the hostile policy towards it!" and "Immediately stop national discrimination and persecution against the Koreans in Japan!" which were sent in a joint name by four organizations of south Korea, including the Reunification Solidarity and the Democratic Labor Party.
Written protest and appeal to the Japanese government and people were adopted at the meeting.
At the end of the meeting a grand march of Koreans in Japan was staged in denunciation of the Japanese authorities' unjust political suppression and human rights abuses against Chongryon and Korean residents in Japan.
