Kim Jong Il's Work Published in Bahamas
Pyongyang, March 16 (KCNA) -- Kim Jong Il's famous work "On Preserving the Juche Character and National Character of the Revolution and Construction" was brought out in booklet on March 8 by the Fine Print Publishing House in Bahamas.
The work published on June 19, Juche 86 (1997) clarified the idea that preserving the Juche character and national character of the revolution and construction is a fundamental principle to be maintained in carrying out the cause of socialism and tasks for embodying it and ways to implement them.
Anti-U.S. Solidarity Rally Held in S. Korea
Pyongyang, March 16 (KCNA) -- Members of the South Headquarters of the National Alliance for the Country's Reunification, the People for Achieving Peace and Reunification, the Central Council for National Independence and Peaceful Reunification and seven other civic and public organizations in south Korea reportedly held the 90th anti-U.S. solidarity rally around the U.S. embassy in Seoul on March 13.
Recalling that the "government" disallowed a meeting for checking the conclusion of the south Korea-U.S. "Free Trade Agreement" and a rally for denouncing the reckless joint military exercises, speakers at the rally strongly condemned it for laying hurdles in the way of the international anti-war joint action scheduled to be held on March 17.
A resolution read out at the meeting branded the south Korea-U.S. RSOI and Foal Eagle joint military exercises as ones for preemptive attack on the DPRK to be staged in accordance with the U.S. scenario for a war of aggression against the DPRK.
The U.S. is working to stage the war exercises aimed at the DPRK, the dialogue partner, even before the ink of its signature to the Feb. 13 agreement was dry now that the movement for denuclearizing the Korean Peninsula and ensuring peace there is in real earnest, the resolution noted.
It said that we will together with all the people wage a dynamic struggle to oppose the U.S. war moves, scrap the south Korea-U.S. "alliance", get the overseas dispatched south Korean army withdrawn and stop the negotiations for the conclusion of FTA.
Defence Sports Contests among Middle School Graduates Held
Pyongyang, March 16 (KCNA) -- Defence sports contests among middle school graduates took place across the country on the occasion of the Day of Sports.
A defence sports contests of middle school graduates in Pyongyang was held at the Kim Il Sung Stadium Thursday.
Thousands of students selected from districts of the city competed in various events such as Taekwon-do, hurdle race, relay race and group forced march, fully exhibiting their perfect readiness and defence sports technique they have cultivated at schools.
Earlier, similar contests took place at Sinuiju Square, the Sariwon Stadium, Kanggye Square, the Hamhung Stadium, the Chongjin Stadium and other squares and stadiums in the provincial, city and county seats including Hamju and Kumya counties.
The participants in the contests fully demonstrated organization, discipline and successful teamwork in various events including heavy gymnastics and tug-of-war.
Women Centenarians
Pyongyang, March 16 (KCNA) -- The number of long-lived persons is increasing in the DPRK.
Kim Pu Yong residing in Tongmyong-dong, Rason City, and Choe Kil Bok in Jangbaek-dong, Munchon City, recently celebrated their centenary birthdays. These women centenarians did not lay their work aside even after retiring on a pension and have always led an optimistic life.
They love national dishes including kimchi and bean past soup, not having unbalanced diet.
Kim Jong Il sent birthday spreads to them.
Protest against FTA in S. Korea
Pyongyang, March 16 (KCNA) -- Representatives of the Headquarters of the All-People Movement for Checking the Negotiations for the Conclusion of the South Korea-U.S. Free Trade Agreement reportedly held a press conference near the Citizens' Park in Kwanghwamun, Seoul, on March 12 before going on a hunger-strike for an indefinite period.
Speakers at the press conference referred to the fact that the south Korean "government" is conducting the negotiations for the conclusion of the "Free Trade Agreement" with the U.S. at the final stage despite opposition of the people.
They criticized the "government's" sycophantic and submissive behavior, saying that the negotiations cannot be genuine negotiations as they have met only the unilateral demands of the U.S.
Then a press release was read out, calling upon all the people to turn out in the struggle for checking the humiliating negotiations.
At the end of the press conference the participants went on a hunger-strike under the blockade of police.
GNP's Art of Disguise under Fire
Pyongyang, March 16 (KCNA) -- Shortly ago, the floor leader of the Grand National Party of south Korea, commenting on the remarks made by the floor leader of the Uri Party of south Korea that a war would break out if the GNP came to power, talked nonsense that his party is "peace-loving forces" opposed to the war and "forces for security" and the inter-Korean relations would make greater progress if these forces came to power.
Rodong Sinmun Friday in a signed commentary observes that the above-said remarks made by the GNP heavyweight are nothing but sheer sophism intended to conceal the GNP forces' warlike and anti-reunification true colors as it has only incited the confrontation between the north and the south and escalated its war moves against the north, pursuant to the policy of outside forces, and escape isolation.
It is widely known that the GNP has worked hard to drive the inter-Korean relations to a collapse and ignite a war against the north in league with the U.S. hard-line conservative forces.
It is a just comment to hold that a war would break out if the party of traitors seized power in view of its character that it regards the idea of standing for confrontation against reunification as part of its ideology and "nature" to be upheld under any circumstances and in the light of its crime-woven history in which it has always pursued confrontation and war.
It is as clear as a pikestaff what disastrous consequences will be entailed by the GNP' seizure of power as this opposition party is going so reckless in its moves for confrontation and war.
With neither artifice nor art of disguise can the GNP pull the wool over the eyes of the south Korean people as they see through its warlike and anti-reunification nature.
None of the Koreans will deal with such group of trigger-happy anti-reunification elements as the GNP even if it wins the "presidential elections" by swindle and fraud.
Severe Punishment of Group of Human Rights Abusers Called for
Pyongyang, March 16 (KCNA) -- Cases of crimes against the nation and human rights abuses committed by the fascist dictatorial regimes in the past have been brought to light one after another in south Korea recently.
In this regard, Rodong Sinmun today in a signed article calls for meting out severe punishment to the group of human rights abusers.
It goes on:
The fascist dictators were predecessors of the "Grand National Party" (GNP) and their clans. The GNP gentries unhesitatingly sacrificed their fellow countrymen for the sake of maintaining their fascist dictatorship and staying in power, a despicable political ambition, generation after generation. This group of criminals can hardly be found in any other parts of the world.
The GNP is an ill-famed stronghold of fascist dictatorship as it has recorded decades-long history with fascism and dictatorship and hideous human rights abuses.
In fact, the above-said crimes are just a tip of iceberg of indelible crimes the GNP gentries have committed against history and the people.
These human rights abuses are still going on.
The GNP gentries are playing all sorts of tricks in a bid to realize their wild ambition to return to power, talking about "public welfare" and "policy for the people". But with no high-sounding words can they whitewash their hands and feet stained with the blood of the people or cover up their dirty true colors as thrice-cursed criminals.
There can be no statute of limitations for the GNP which has such crime-woven history behind it.
The south Korean people from all walks of life should force the GNP to pay a thousand-fold price for the blood shed by them and bring it to the court of history.
SPA Chairman Meets German Guest
Pyongyang, March 16 (KCNA) -- Choe Thae Bok, chairman of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly, met and had a friendly talk with Hartmut Koschyk, member of Bundestag (Federal Assembly) of Germany and chairman of the German-Korean Parliamentary Friendship Group, at the Mansudae Assembly Hall Friday.
On hand were Ri Jong Hyok, deputy to the SPA who is chairman of the DPRK-German Friendship Parliamentary Group, and Friedrich Ludwig Loehr, German ambassador to the DPRK.
Peasant Dances of Korea
Pyongyang, March 16 (KCNA) -- Peasant dances, with the longest history among the Korean folk dances, are a popular one in Korea.
The dances reflect labor and life of the Korean peasants.
There are many kinds of folk dances reflecting farming. But the peasant dances deal in detail with the working life of the peasants from sowing to harvesting.
It is the main character of the dances that they combine various artistic forms deep in national tinges.
The dances are danced to the accompaniment to percussion instruments including large and small gongs, Janggo (a Korean drum) and drums and wind instruments including saenap (a Korean brass wind instrument) and tungso (a Korean bamboo flute).
The dance turning round decorative tassels is the climax of the dances usually.
Spectacular is the dance turning round several-meter-long tassels to the accompaniment of instruments.
The tradition of the dances is carried forward successfully in the country.
The dances took a scene in the mass gymnastic and artistic performance "Arirang", too.
Conspicuous is the scene danced by hundreds of male and female dancers in folk dresses to the Korean tune in the broad stadium ground.
New Ore Pulp Transport Method Developed
Pyongyang, March 16 (KCNA) -- The Institute of the Industrial Technology under the Kim Chaek Iron and Steel Complex of the DPRK has developed a new ore pulp transport method by compressed air.
The pulp is transported through long-distance pipeline, being fed with compressed air several times.
While transportation, the ore pulp is agitated by the compressed air, which prevents the pipeline from being blocked. The new method reduces abrasion of the pipeline and correctly measures the transport amount.
It saves many facilities and electricity by using cheap air compressors. It also ensures the safety of work and remarkably increases the transport amount of ore pulp per hour.
Russian Ambassador Gives Reception
Pyongyang, March 16 (KCNA) -- Russian Ambassador to the DPRK Valery Sukhinin gave a reception at the Taedonggang Club for the Diplomatic Corps on Friday to mark the 58th anniversary of the conclusion of the agreement on economic and cultural cooperation between the DPRK and Russia.
Present on invitation there were Minister of Foreign Trade Rim Kyong Man, Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs Kung Sok Ung, Vice-Chairperson of the Committee for Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries Hong Son Ok who is chairperson of the DPRK-Russia Friendship Association, Vice-Minister of Finance Kim Yong Gil and officials concerned.
On hand were staff members of the Russian embassy.
Speeches were made there.
Kim Jong Il Inspects Command of KPA Tank Division
Pyongyang, March 16 (KCNA) -- General Secretary Kim Jong Il inspected the Command of Guard Seoul Ryu Kyong Su 105 Tank Division of the KPA.
105 Tank Division, the origin of the tank force of the DPRK, is a proud unit honored with the on-the-spot guidance given by President Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il on dozens of occasions since 1948.
After going round the room devoted to the education in the revolutionary history and the room devoted to the history of the division, he said that the colors of the division recorded with heroic feats is closely associated with the efforts and devotion of the President.
The division is a glorious guard unit which has taken the lead in defending the Party and the leader in the grim annals of the Korean revolution, he said, adding that the distinguished feats performed by the division would shine long with the history of the Juche-based army building.
He made the rounds of the operation commanding room and rooms for military studies of the division to learn about its performance of duty and the training of its commanding officers. He set forth the tasks to be tackled by the division to increase its combat capability.
Looking round the servicemen's hall, library and other facilities for ideological education and entertainment, he underscored the need to pay primary attention to the ideological work at all times.
He highly appreciated the revolutionary habit of reading established in the division.
Going round the supply service facilities, he praised the commanding officers of the division for having provided the servicemen with good living conditions from a correct viewpoint on the supply service.
He enjoyed a performance given by the art squad of the division.
He had a photo session with its servicepersons.
He was accompanied by Ri Yong Chol and Ri Jae Il, first vice department directors of the Central Committee of the WPK.

Rodong Sinmun califica de camaleon al "GPN" del Sur de Corea
Pyongyang, 16 de marzo (ATCC) -- Hace unos dias, en su intento de refutar a su homologo del "Partido Uri" quien vaticino una guerra si el "Gran Partido Nacional" (GPN) toma el poder, el representante de esta entidad en el parlamento dijo atrevidamente que su partido lo integran las "fuerzas por la paz y seguridad" y que si llega al poder, “se mejorarian” mas las relaciones con el Norte de Corea.
Tal sofisma tan barato se encamina a sacar de aislamiento al "GPN" tras encubrir su naturaleza belicista y anti-reunificacion con que recurria a la confrontacion con el Norte y maniobras de guerra contra este adhiriendose a las fuerzas foraneas.
Critica el diario Rodong Sinmun en un comentario individual de este viernes y prosigue:
Todo el mundo sabe que en adhesion a las fuerzas intransigentes y conservadoras de Estados Unidos, el "GPN" vino maniobrando perversamente para llevar a la fase catastrofica las relaciones con el Norte de Corea y atizar el fuego a la guerra de agresion a este.
Ya que esta entidad toma la confrontacion anti-reunificacion por su ideal y "naturaleza" a ser defendidos bajo cualesquier circunstancias, resulta correcto el pronostico de que estallaria una guerra cuando esta banda de traidores llegue al poder.
Es porque tales maniobras tan perversas de ahora, cuando esta agrupacion no pasa de ser un partido opositor, iran de mal en peor si logra ser el gobernante.
Pero, los habitantes surcoreanos, que conocen bien la naturaleza del "GPN", no se dejaran enganar por cualquier sofisteria o disfraz de esta agrupacion reaccionaria.
Aunque esta horda de traidores opuestos a la reunificacion logre ocupar el sillon presidencial de modo fraudulento, toda la nacion coreana le dara espaldas.
Nuevo metodo de transporte de liquido mineral
Pyongyang, 16 de marzo (ATCC) -- El Instituto de Tecnologia Industrial del Complejo Siderurgico Kim Chaek exploro un nuevo metodo para el transporte satisfactorio a larga distancia del liquido mineral usando el aire comprimido.
Segun ello, el liquido, consistente en el agua, los granos minerales y el aire, puede llegar hasta su destino distante impulsado por el aire comprimido que se le suministra varias veces durante su paso por la tuberia de transporte.
El aire comprimido produce fuertes movimientos de agitacion en el liquido mezclado, lo cual permite impedir la tupida de la tuberia, disminuir su desgaste y medir exactamente la cantidad transportada.
La introduccion de esta formula posibilita ahorrar mucha cantidad de equipos y energia electrica, garantizar la seguridad del trabajo usando baratos compresores de aire e incrementar la cantidad del transporte por hora.
Bahamas: obra de Kim Jong Il en folleto
Pyongyang, 16 de marzo (ATCC) -- La Editorial "Fine Print" de Bahamas dio a luz el dia 8 en folleto la obra maestra del Dirigente Kim Jong Il "Para mantener el espiritu Juche y la nacionalidad en el proceso revolucionario y constructivo", publicada el 19 de junio del 86 (1997) de la Era Juche.
Esta obra aclara la idea de que mantener el espiritu Juche y la nacionalidad en el proceso revolucionario y constructivo constituye el principio fundamental que se debe sostener en el cumplimiento de la causa socialista, las tareas y remedios para materializarla.
Danza campesina de Corea
Pyongyang, 16 de marzo (ATCC) -- La danza campesina coreana tiene una historia mas larga que las otras folcloricas de Corea.
Este genero, que refleja la vida laboral del campesinado, es una danza masiva y favorita del pueblo coreano.
A diferencia de otros bailes cortos alusivos a cada una de las faenas agricolas, esta pieza describe de manera concreta todo el proceso del trabajo de los campesinos desde la siembra hasta la cosecha.
Se caracteriza fundamentalmente por el fuerte matiz nacional y el buen ensamblaje de varias formas artisticas.
Los instrumentos de percusion como los gongos de pequeno y mediano tamanos, Janggo (una especie de tambor coreano), el tambor y los de viento tales como Saenap (flauta coreana) y Thungso (flauta de bambu) son medios indispensables en la danza campesina, que llega a su climax con el baile consistente en dar vueltas a la cinta del gorro de 12 brazos.
Hoy tambien el pueblo coreano desarrolla constantemente esta tradicion folclorica.
Danzandola al ritmo coreano en la funcion gimnastico-artistica masiva "Arirang", centenares de bailarines de ambos sexos en vestimentas tipicas coreanas montaron un episodio tan espectacular sobre la cancha del Estadio Primero de Mayo.
