Preparatory Committee to Commemorate Day of Sun Formed in Russian Region
Pyongyang, April 4 (KCNA) -- A preparatory committee of the Maritime Territorial Region of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation to commemorate the Day of the Sun was formed on Mar. 26.
First Secretary of the Maritime Territorial Regional Committee of the party V. V. Grishkov was elected chairman of the preparatory committee.
The committee decided to organize colorful functions including meeting and lecture during the commemoration period from Mar. 26 to Apr. 27.
Kim Il Sung Praised by South African Figure
Pyongyang, April 4 (KCNA) -- Madala Masokou, chairman of the Mfumalanga Provincial Committee of the South African Communist Party and minister of Land and Agriculture of the province who is chairman of the South African preparatory committee for commemorating the Day of the Sun, in a statement issued on Mar. 6 praised President Kim Il Sung as the benevolent leader of the people who built the socialist system centered on the popular masses in Korea and a kind-hearted father of humankind who sent material and moral support to the progressive people in their struggle for independence and the building of a new society.
He expressed firm belief that the cause of the President would be successfully carried forward and accomplished thanks to Kim Jong Il, a perfect statesman.
Foreign Diplomats Visit Co-op Farm
Pyongyang, April 4 (KCNA) -- Officials in charge of cultural and friendly relations of foreign embassies here visited the Migok Co-op Farm in Sariwon City on April 3 on the occasion of the Day of the Sun and the 14th anniversary of Kim Jong Il's election as chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission.
They were briefed on the history of the farm in front of the monument to the on-the-spot guidance of President Kim Il Sung.
They looked round with keen interest historic relics and mementoes on display at the Migok Revolutionary Museum, hearing the explanation that the President and Kim Jong Il visited the farm several times, clearly indicating the road to be followed by the farm and turning it into a socialist land of bliss.
They also walked round modern dwelling houses built to the convenience of the farmers and mounted a gazebo from which they enjoyed a bird's-eye view of the farm.
Servicepersons of Ministry of People's Security Hold Oath-Taking Meeting
Pyongyang, April 4 (KCNA) -- A meeting of servicepersons of the Ministry of People's Security took place on April 3 at the plaza of the Kumsusan Memorial Palace, the supreme temple of Juche, to take an oath to carry out the last instructions of President Kim Il Sung to the letter.
To the tune of a solemn band music of "Song of General Kim Il Sung", all the participants raised their hands in salute to the portrait of the President with humble reverence.
At the call of Ju Sang Song, minister of People's Security, the participants solemnly took an oath to always hold the President in high esteem as the father of socialist Korea and the sun of Juche and faithfully uphold the Songun revolutionary leadership of Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army Kim Jong Il.
They expressed their rock-firm will to share the same idea, intention and destiny with the headquarters of the revolution and become the first-line death-defying corps and the first human bullets and bombs of the supreme commander to politically, ideologically and devotedly defend him.
They firmly pledged themselves to become ardent vanguard of the Songun revolution who successfully put into practice the Songun politics of the Workers' Party of Korea and true servants reliably safeguarding the lives and property of the people.
The meeting was followed by a march-past of servicepersons of the ministry at the plaza.
Military Attaches Corps Visit Mt. Paektu Area
Samjiyon, April 3 (KCNA) -- The military attaches corps in Pyongyang visited the Mt. Paektu area on April 1 and 2 on the occasion of the 14th anniversary of Kim Jong Il's election as chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission.
The members of the corps laid a floral basket before the statue of President Kim Il Sung on the shore of Lake Samji and made a bow.
They were briefed on the Samjiyon Grand Monument while going round groups of sculptures depicting boundless reverence of the anti-Japanese guerrillas and people for Kim Il Sung and their indomitable fighting spirit and ardent love of the homeland.
They went to the secret camp in Mt. Paektu, a holly land of the revolution.
At the old home in the secret camp where Kim Jong Il was born they saw with keen interest relics preserved there, being briefed on his growth into the great son of the guerrillas with the spirit of Mt. Paektu.
They posed for a memorial photo at the old home.
Yang Xilian, military, naval and air attache of the Chinese embassy in Pyongyang who is doyen of the corps, said that he was pleased to have had an opportunity to visit the old home in the secret camp.
Noting that not only the Korean people but also world people were coming to the old home in the secret camp in Mt. Paektu in an endless stream, he went on:
Kim Jong Il is the great leader who is successfully carrying forward the revolutionary traditions of Mt. Paektu provided by Kim Il Sung.
He is leading the Korean revolution to victory, holding aloft the banner of Songun.
Igor Pablov, military attache of the Russian embassy, said he learned well how the Korean people value the revolutionary traditions through the visit to the Mt. Paektu area.
He hoped that the Korean people would achieve greater success in building a great prosperous powerful nation and increasing defence capabilities under the wise leadership of Kim Jong Il.
Abdullah Jalali Nasab, military attache of the Iranian embassy, wrote in the visitors' book that Kim Il Sung victoriously led the 20 year-long anti-Japanese revolutionary struggle to liberate Korea and this is the greatest of his exploits.
The revolutionary cause pioneered in Mt. Paektu will be successfully accomplished under the leadership of Kim Jong Il, he added.
The military attaches also visited the Monument to Victorious Battles in Musan Area, the Paektu Hall, the Samjiyon Schoolchildren's Palace and the Samjiyon County House of Culture.
Art Performances Given to Commemorate Day of Sun
Pyongyang, April 4 (KCNA) -- Performances were given by art groups of factories and co-op farms across the country at the People's Palace of Culture and the Central Workers Hall on April 3 on the occasion of the Day of the Sun.
The performers included members of the art groups of the Pyongyang Corps of Young Passenger Train Crew, the September Textile Mill, the Sunchon Shoes Factory, the Jangchon Co-op Farm in Sadong District, Pyongyang, the Wonhwa Co-op Farm in Phyongwon County, the Chujong Co-op Farm in Paechon County and the Saedong Farm in Kumya County.
They raised the curtains with chorus "Let's Sing of the Day of the Sun." Put on the stage were chorus "We Go to Mangyongdae", dialogic poem "We Live with the Eternal Day", story-telling and song "Our Army and Our People", female quartet and Pangchang "Songun Nilriri" and other colorful numbers.
The performers made a successful ideological and artistic representation of their honor and pride of significantly commemorating the birth anniversary of President Kim Il Sung as the most auspicious holiday of the Korean nation.

GNP Denounced in S. Korea
Pyongyang, April 4 (KCNA) -- Meetings took place one after another in streets of different parts of south Korea to listen to speeches critical of the crimes committed by the Grand National Party of south Korea, according to a news report.
The Solidarity for Implementing the South-North Joint Declaration and organizations affiliated to it declared the start of those meetings on March 12. Similar meetings were sponsored by them in main places of Seoul, Pusan, Taejon, Kwangju and Kyonggi Province and other areas.
The solidarity at the meeting held on Mar. 24 assailed the GNP, an offspring of the military dictatorial regime, for having obstructed every undertaking for national reconciliation and reunification.
The GNP's recent talk about "adjustment of its policy toward the north" is a clear proof of the crimes perpetrated by the GNP against reunification in the past and is nothing but a charade to deceive the people, it noted.

U.S. Perfidy under Fire
Pyongyang, April 4 (KCNA) -- It is required by the reality to bolster the powerful war deterrent capable of successfully beating back any surprise military aggression now that it is hard to trust the U.S. which says one thing and does another and it is the legitimate sovereign right of the DPRK to do so. Rodong Sinmun today observes this in a signed commentary in connection with the RSOI and Foal Eagle joint military exercises staged recently by the U.S. imperialists together with the south Korean warmongers.
This saber-rattling brought into bolder relief the criminal nature of the U.S. imperialists as the very ones responsible for wrecking peace and security on the Korean Peninsula and increasing the danger of a new war, the commentary notes, and goes on:
The U.S. is talking about "dialogue", "negotiations" and "normalization of relations" with the DPRK.
But the frantic war maneuvers staged by the U.S. warlike forces in league with the south Korean warmongers for a preemptive attack on the DPRK once again convinced its army and people that such words and promise of the U.S. are nothing but an empty talk and an artifice veiled with the word of peace intended to disarm the DPRK.
Its army and people are vigilant enough to see through the U.S. attempt at aggression lurking behind the curtain of "dialogue" and "peace."
They will take all the necessary steps to ensure peace and security on the Korean Peninsula and defend the dignity and sovereignty of the DPRK. They will deal resolute and merciless blows at the enemies if they opt for a reckless military adventure.
The U.S. would be well advised to stop its perfidious act of poisoning the atmosphere of dialogue.
Final Agreement on Burdening S. Korea with Huge Fund Blasted
Pyongyang, April 4 (KCNA) -- Shortly ago, a final agreement was reached between the U.S. and the south Korean authorities on the share of fund for the transfer of the U.S. military base and its construction in Phyongthaek.
Commenting on this, a Minju Joson analyst Wednesday says:
The final agreement on burdening south Korea with a large share of the fund for the transfer and relocation of a U.S. military base is an intolerable insult to and a wanton violation of the sovereignty of south Koreans and the dignity of the Korean nation.
While keeping its forces in south Korea for decades, the United States has squeezed an astronomical amount of fund from south Korea every year as direct and indirect expenses for the upkeep of its military bases and set-ups.
Now it is imposing upon south Korea even the expenses for the transfer and construction of its military base. It is most shameless and impudent brigandage.
It is an open secret that the transfer and relocation of the military base stepped up by the U.S. in south Korea are aimed at provoking a war of aggression against the DPRK to put the whole of Korea under its control.
While occupying south Korea for more than six decades, the U.S. has inflicted all sorts of disasters upon it. As if it were not enough, the U.S. burdens south Korea even with expenses for the upkeep of its forces and a war of aggression. The like of such robber-like and shameless aggressor cannot be found in the world.
It is only south Korea in the world which tastes all sorts of shame and humiliation while paying expenses for the upkeep of aggressor forces.
The only way for the south Koreans to get rid of shame and disgrace is to wage a vehement fight against the U.S. and war and for the withdrawal of the U.S. forces from south Korea.
Socialism Guarantees World Peace
Pyongyang, April 4 (KCNA) -- Only when the road of socialism is followed is it possible to ensure lasting peace and security of the world that guarantee the existence and development of humankind and defend peace and security by resolutely shattering the moves of the imperialists for aggression and war with united strength, says Rodong Sinmun today in a signed article, which reads in part:
While resorting to moves for aggression, the imperialists claim that world peace and security can be ensured only when all the countries of the world take the road of "liberal democracy", the road of capitalism. But this is a sheer lie.
The foreign policy idea of socialism is independence and peace. Only when the world people advance toward socialism can all the countries and nations live an independent life and develop together in a peaceful world, freed from all manner of domination and subjugation.
When all the people of the world follow the road of socialism, international solidarity based on the principles of independence and comradely cooperation can be strengthened and the cause of global independence be accomplished earlier.
An imperialist country fond of aggression and war as if they are amusements, possessed of the largest amount of mass destruction weapons in the world, has never been able to pull down a socialist country by means of war. It is because socialism itself represents the strength of unity mightier than nukes.
Since the first half of the 20th century socialism has performed great feats in thwarting the aggression of the imperialist forces and ensuring peace and security of the world. It was the united socialist forces that played a decisive role in putting an end to World War II provoked by the fascist forces and ensuring world peace and security.
The imperialists dared not unleash a new world war while getting hell-bent on the nuclear arms race and moves for a war of aggression in the period of the Cold War.
If socialism is abandoned, unity is broken and the powerful military capacity is reduced to a candlelight flickering in the wind.

Custom on Chongmyong
Pyongyang, April 4 (KCNA) -- Chongmyong is one of the 24 seasonal divisions. It falls on April 5 or 6 every year. The Korean people enjoy this day, which is closely related with their life, from olden times.
Chongmyong means the clear and balmy season. It is the spring sowing season.
Around Chongmyong, the Korean people sow seeds in paddy and dry fields and on the very day, visit and tend ancestral graves.
They usually start sowing already prepared seeds on rice-seedling beds from the day. And other crops and vegetables are sown, too.
And touch-me-not and other flowers are seeded in the courtyards of the houses facelifted after the winter.
The main custom on the Chongmyong is to tend or remove ancestral graves.
The customs reflect the national character of the industrious and noble-minded Korean people.

Pyongyang, April 4 (KCNA) -- Posters have been produced by the Mansudae Art Studio and the Central Art Studio on the occasion of the Day of the Sun and the army day.
A poster "95th birth anniversary of President Kim Il Sung" depicts the kind-hearted President, who, his face beaming with a broad smile, always rouses the Workers' Party, the People's Army and people of Korea to shining victory against the background of fireworks displayed in the nocturnal sky of the country. Also depicted there are Kimilsungias and Kimjongilias, immortal flowers praising the great men.
A poster "Long live the 75th anniversary of the heroic Korean People's Army!" portrays Kim Il Sung in the uniform in the period of the anti-Japanese armed struggle, who founded the revolutionary armed forces in Korea as an invincible and iron-willed commander and a column of participants in the military parade marching in fine array.
State Academic Degrees and Titles Conferred upon Intellectuals
Pyongyang, April 4 (KCNA) -- State academic degrees and titles were awarded to intellectuals with due ceremony on Wednesday on the occasion of the 95th birth anniversary of President Kim Il Sung.
A decision of the State Commission for Conferring Degrees and Titles was read out there before conferring title of professor on Kim Song Il, dean of a faculty of Kim Il Sung University, and others.
Doctor's degree was awarded to Im Myong Jae, department head of Kim Chaek University of Technology, and others and the title of associate professor went to 114 intellectuals and master's degree to 557.
Exhibition of Songhwa Art Studio Opens
Pyongyang, April 4 (KCNA) -- An exhibition of the Songhwa Art Studio was opened at the Pyongyang International Cultural Centre on Wednesday on the occasion of the Day of the Sun.
On display at the exhibition are more than 70 pieces including Korean paintings, oil paintings, acrylic paintings and sculptures created by veteran artists of the Songhwa Art Studio on the occasion of the 95th birth anniversary of President Kim Il Sung.
The producers of such pieces as acrylic painting "Great Benevolence," Korean painting "Old Home Which People More Ardently Long to See as Time Passes" and oil painting "The International Friendship Exhibition" successfully depicted the noble revolutionary life and immortal exploits of the President with refined skills.

National Seminar on President Kim Il Sung's Immortal Feats Held

Como ya trascendidos, al examinar el pasado 30 de marzo los manuales de historia para las escuelas superiores, el Ministerio de Educacion, Cultura, Deporte, Ciencia y Tecnologia de Japon ordeno a redactarlos omitiendo o distorsionando las barbaridades antieticas cometidas en el pasado por los imperialistas japoneses como la instalacion y operacion de las "casas de cita con las consoladoras sexuales" por parte del viejo ejercito del mismo pais.
Esta nueva negativa total de las autoridades japonesas a su historia de agresiones significa una abierta burla y desafio a los paises vecinos y la sociedad internacional que demandan la justicia y la verdad.

Minju Joson condena "acuerdo final" entre EE.UU. y el Sur de Corea
Pyongyang, 4 de abril (ATCC) -- Hace unos dias, Estados Unidos y el Sur de Corea llegaron al "acuerdo final" sobre las contribuciones necesarias a la mudanza de la base militar del primero y la construccion del nuevo enclave en Phyongthaek.
Segun el protocolo, el Sur de Corea cubrira enormes gastos de la "mudanza de la base militar" de las tropas norteamericanas y la "reubicacion" de estas.
Al comentar este asunto, el periodico Minju Joson lo califica este miercoles de un imperdonable insulto y abierta violacion de la soberania de la poblacion surcoreana y la dignidad de toda la nacion coreana y continua:
Aunque durante varios decenios mantiene a sus tropas en suelo surcoreano infligiendo tremendos desastres a los habitantes locales, el imperio no paga el arrendamiento, al contrario, arrebata a la parte surcoreana sumas astronomicas por concepto de los gastos directos e indirectos para el mantenimiento de sus bases militares y otras instalaciones.
Para colmo, esta imponiendo ahora a la parte surcoreana pagar hasta los fondos necesarios a la mudanza y la construccion de las bases norteamericanas.
Tal procedimiento tan descarado de bandido no se puede ver en otras partes del mundo.
Es un secreto ya descifrado que la "mudanza" y la "reubicacion", promovidas por EE.UU., se encaminan a provocar la guerra de agresion a la RPDC para tomar a toda Corea.
En este globo terraqueo, el Sur de Corea es el unico pais que financia hasta el mantenimiento de las tropas agresoras aguantando toda clase de verguenza y humillacion.
Para salir de esta situacion deshonrosa, los habitantes surcoreanos deben desarrollar energicamente la lucha antiyanqui y antibelica para expulsar a las tropas norteamericanas del Sur de Corea.
Rodong Sinmun critica traicion de EE.UU.
Pyongyang, 4 de abril (ATCC) -- Dado que es imposible confiar en Estados Unidos que no sabe coordinar sus acciones con sus promesas, es preciso preparar las poderosas fuerzas disuasivas de guerra capaces de repeler cualquier agresion militar sorpresiva. Senala asi el rotativo Rodong Sinmun en un comentario individual publicado este miercoles para denunciar el "ejercicio combinado de refuerzo para el tiempo de guerra" y el simulacro conjunto "Aguilucho", desplegados por el imperio junto con los belicistas surcoreanos.
Estas maniobras militares sirvieron para revelar la naturaleza criminal de EE.UU. que es el culpable de la perturbacion de paz y seguridad de la Peninsula Coreana y de la crecida del peligro de una nueva guerra.
EE.UU. habla mucho del "dialogo", las "negociaciones" y la "normalizacion de las relaciones" con la RPDC.
Pero, por otra parte, despliega, en colaboracion con las fuerzas belicistas surcoreanas, esos ejercicios belicos orientados a asestar ataque preventivo al Norte de Corea.
Viendo el comportamiento del imperio, el ejercito y el pueblo de Corea se dieron cuenta de que las palabras y las promesas de EE.UU. son inconsistentes y no pasan de ser una artimana de zanahoria para desarmar a si mismos.
El ejercito y el pueblo de Corea se mantienen alertos ante la intencion agresiva de EE.UU. hallada detras de los cantos de este sobre el "dialogo" y la "paz".
Ellos tomaran todas las medidas necesarias para preservar la paz y la seguridad de la Peninsula Coreana y defender la dignidad y la soberania del pais y golpearan duro a los enemigos si estos pasan a una imprudente aventura militar.

Exposicion nacional de artes bellas por Dia del Sol

Alli estan expuestas mas de 300 obras artisticas alusivas a la brillante vida revolucionaria del Presidente, las imborrables hazanas del Dirigente Kim Jong Il, la infinita dignidad y orgullo nacionales del pueblo coreano de gozar de generacion en generacion de la direccion del gran Lider y el gran General.
