Day of Sun and Army Day of DPRK Observed in Different Countries
Pyongyang, May 4 (KCNA) -- A lecture and a photo exhibition were held at a Guinean farm, reading sessions by the Nigerian Group for the Study of Kimjongilism and a Nigerian company, an opening ceremony of a photo exhibition by the Franoson Mannyon International Company Ltd. in Nigeria and a round-table talk in Vienna, Austria from Apr. 14 to 27 on the occasions of the Day of the Sun and the 75th anniversary of the Korean People's Army.
On display in the venues of the photo exhibitions were photos showing the revolutionary history and exploits of President Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il and photos introducing the might of the heroic KPA.
The manager of the Guinean farm said at the lecture titled "President Kim Il Sung Will Always Be with Us" that Kim Il Sung provided endless field guidance till the last period of his life, walking along rugged lanes across fields to bring happiness to the people. Many people in the world still deeply revere him, attracted by his personality as a great man, he added.
Igwanagu Nicholas, chairman of the Nigerian Group for the Study of Kimjongilism, noted at a reading session on "My Family" from Chapter 1 of Vol. 1 of Part I the Anti-Japanese Revolution of Kim Il Sung's reminiscences "With the Century" that Kim Il Sung devoted his whole life to the country and the people, adding that his noble life serves as a shining model for the leaders and politicians in all countries.
Oliver Jonischkeit, secretary of the Left Bloc of the Austrian Trade Union Federation, said at the round-table talk that the history of socialist Korea is that of Songun. Recalling that the DPRK has won one victory after another in the stand-off with the U.S., he stressed that this would be unthinkable without the tremendous military capability for self-defence built by Kim Il Sung all his life.

Pyongyang, May 4 (KCNA) -- Special write-ups were posted on Internet homepage by the British Association for the Study of Songun Policy on Apr. 10 and 24 on the occasions of the Day of the Sun and the Army Day of the DPRK.
The homepage carried portraits of President Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il and edited photos showing the revolutionary history and exploits of the peerlessly great men and introducing the victorious path covered by the KPA and commemorative articles.
The homepage said in articles that the Koreans and world progressives are significantly commemorating the 95th birth anniversary of Kim Il Sung, highly praising his undying feats.
It also gave a detailed account of the proud history of the KPA in which it has demonstrated its might as an invincible army under the wise leadership of the peerlessly illustrious commanders.
Plenary Meeting of C.C., Youth League Held
Pyongyang, May 4 (KCNA) -- The 34th Plenary Meeting of the Central Committee of the Kim Il Sung Socialist Youth League was held here on May 3.
The meeting discussed tasks to be tackled by the organizations of the youth league to steadily deepen the ideological education including the education in the monolithic idea of the Workers' Party of Korea this significant year marking the 40th anniversary of President Kim Il Sung's historic May 25 instructions.
A report was made by Kim Kyong Ho, first secretary of the C.C., the youth league. Then followed speeches.
The reporter and speakers stressed the need to defend and glorify the undying feats performed by the President for the Korean youth movement and fully prepare all the organizations of the youth league and the youth and children as vanguard fighters who devotedly protect Kim Jong Il, remaining intensely loyal to his leadership.
GNP's Treacherous Acts under Fire
Pyongyang, May 4 (KCNA) -- The Solidarity for Implementing the South-North Joint Declaration in south Korea reportedly issued a statement on April 26 denouncing the treacherous acts of the "Grand National Party", a corrupt party.
The statement recalled that the GNP is ill-famed for embezzling truck-loads of money collected from the people, committing sexual abuses and perpetrating irregularities and corruption, adding: It claims to be "forces for peaceful unification" but is standing in the way of south-north dialogue, blustering that it would not rule out a war and vociferating about sanctions against the north.
The GNP is a group of good-for-nothings as it persists in irregularities and corruption and all its members including the representative are busying themselves to get bribes, it noted.
There is no room for the GNP to stay in the era of peaceful reunification, it said, calling upon the people from all walks of life to unite single-mindedly to throw overboard this group of traitors.
S. Korean Military Boss's Sycophantic Remarks Flailed
Pyongyang, May 4 (KCNA) -- The People for Achieving Peace and Reunification in south Korea reportedly issued a commentary on April 28 blasting the sycophantic and treacherous remarks made by the minister of Defence, yielding to the U.S. brigandish demand for the increase of south Korea's share of the funds for the upkeep of the U.S. forces.
The commentary accused the minister of talking such nonsense as admitting that south Korea has not so far provided the funds for the upkeep of the U.S. forces at a satisfactory level, when referring to the remarks made by the commander of the U.S. forces in south Korea calling for the increased funds for the upkeep of the forces at a recent hearing of the Armed Services Committee of the U.S. Senate.
It is a shame on the nation that the man who worries about south Korea's failure to contribute more funds to the U.S. forces is holding the post of the minister of Defence, it deplored, demanding he step down at once.
May Day Marked in S. Korea
Pyongyang, May 4 (KCNA) -- A May Day rally of workers was held in Seoul on May 1 under the sponsorship of the south Korean Confederation of Trade Unions, according to a media report.
Present there were trade union members under the confederation and members of civic and public organizations in Seoul, Inchon, Kyonggi Province and other regions, upwards of 10,000 in all.
The speakers at the rally demanded the nullification of the settlement of the negotiations on the south Korea-U.S. "Free Trade Agreement", nullification of the "bill on part-time jobs", stop to the revision of the "law on private schools" and so on.
The rally was preceded by meetings of different industrial workers' unions of the confederation and a workers' meeting for nullifying the "bill on part-time jobs" and winning the basic right to work of the specially hired workers.
And a May Day marathon race was sponsored by the Federation of south Korean Trade Unions.
The confederation, on the other hand, held a rally of the group for implementing the June 15 joint declaration in Changwon, South Kyongsang Province, on April 30. The speakers there called upon the workers to uphold the spirit of the joint declaration and implement the declaration through solidarity and alliance.
The Democratic Labor Party of south Korea held a meeting in Changwon on May 1 and appealed to the workers to become the driving force of the reunification movement and build a new land.
A cultural event of worker-student solidarity to abolish part-time jobs and scrap the settlement of the FTA negotiations was held at Korea University in Seoul on the same day under the co-sponsorship of the south Korean Student Struggle Committee and the Solidarity Council on Part-Time Jobs.
U.S. Imperialists' Design to Ignite Another War under Fire
Pyongyang, May 4 (KCNA) -- The commander-in-chief of the U.S. forces in the Pacific some time ago vociferated about the "threat" from the DPRK and China.
Commenting on this, a Rodong Sinmun analyst Friday says:
This was prompted by the sinister intention to reinforce the U.S. forces qualitatively into aggressor forces of preemptive attack type in the Asia-Pacific region including the Korean Peninsula and thus hold the military supremacy, overpower the countries in the region by force of arms and ignite a new war.
Recalling an ugly torrent of words let out by U.S. bellicose elements including the remarks of the U.S. secretary of Defence that the U.S. forces must be fully prepared to fight a war against somebody's threat and they have worked out various war scenarios presupposing a Korean war, a contingency in the Pacific, etc., the analyst goes on:
It is for carrying a reckless war scheme into practice that the U.S. imperialists are amassing modern military hardware and means of war in the Asia-Pacific region including the Korean Peninsula and Japan. For this very purpose, they are scheming to bring ultra-modern missiles and fighter planes into south Korea and Japan after deciding to massively deploy more than half of their nuclear-powered carriers and 16 Aegis destroyers loaded with interceptor missiles in the Asia-Pacific region.
It is the U.S. imperialists' strategic design to secure the upperhand in strength in the Asia-Pacific region with south Korea and Japan as the military stronghold, put military pressure upon the DPRK and its neighboring countries and provoke a new war on the Korean Peninsula at any cost. The U.S. bellicose forces are trying to justify their criminal intention, raising terrific outcries over the "military threat" from the DPRK and China. But this can never work on anybody.
The U.S. would be well advised to abandon its scheme to provoke another war, looking straight into the grave and dangerous nature of the present situation.
Fuller Play to Might of Army-People Unity Called for
Pyongyang, May 4 (KCNA) -- The great unity between the army and people in the DPRK is unbreakable as it is based on the leading role of the Korean People's Army with the headquarters of the revolution as the core, says Rodong Sinmun and Josoninmingun in a joint article Friday, calling upon all the servicepersons and the people to dynamically advance toward a peak of a great prosperous powerful nation of Juche, holding fast to the great army-people unity provided by Kim Jong Il in the era of Songun as an ever-victorious banner.
The great army-people unity serves as a mainstay of the Songun revolution, the article says, and goes on:
The revolutionary army represents a pillar of the revolution and the popular masses are responsible for the revolution. It is the precious truth proven in the protracted revolutionary struggle that the army and people can display inexhaustible strength only when they are united. Their unity provides an engine for defending socialism and a driving force for achieving the prosperity of the country.
The Korean revolution is a great one which was pioneered with the might of the army-people unity and which has made progress thanks to it.
The unity has a long history. Regarding it as a fundamental problem of building a powerful driving force for the revolution to achieve the army-people unity in his early years, President Kim Il Sung created heroic epic of this unity in the crucible of the arduous anti-Japanese revolution.
The tradition of army-people unity established in the early period of the Korean revolution has been carried forward and developed on a new higher stage in the Songun era led by Kim Jong Il.
The great unity between the army and people serves as an invulnerable fortress defending the headquarters of the revolution, a source which makes it possible for Korean-style socialism to emerge victorious on the most solid foundation and a driving force for ensuring the greatest prosperity of the country.
This great unity is mighty revolutionary unity as it grows stronger and displays tremendous vitality despite manifold difficulties and hardships. The great traits in which the army and people think, move and struggle, guided by the Songun revolutionary idea of Kim Jong Il prevails throughout the country. Thanks to this great unity the Korean people have strong pluck and nothing to fear in the world.

New Records Established in Weightlifting
Pyongyang, May 4 (KCNA) -- National records were established in the recent National Sports Festival held in the DPRK.
Two male and five female weightlifters rewrote the old records of the DPRK in ten categories.
Ri Kyong Sok, weightlifter of the April 25 Sports Group, established a new record in the 56 kg category and Kim Chol Jin, weightlifter of the Pyongyang City Sports Group, in the total of the 69 kg category.
Women weightlifters of the Amnokgang Sports Group registered signal successes.
Weightlifter Pak Un Hui broke the old record in the total of the 48 kg category and Pak Hyon Suk in the jerk and total of the 63 kg category.
Pak Hyon Suk rewrote the old record in her first attempt. And she continued to renovate her records in the second and third attempts.
Jang Song Wol and Hong Myong Ok set new records respectively in snatch and total of the 69 kg category.
Ri Un Hye from the Pyongyang City Sports Group created new records of the Republic in snatch, jerk and total of the category above 75 kg.
Famous Lyric on True Comradeship
Pyongyang, May 4 (KCNA) -- Fifty years have elapsed since Kim Jong Il composed the immortal classic lyric "Thinking of Friendship" at the end of April Juche 46 (1957). However, it still touches the heartstrings of all people for its profound philosophical content.
The poem raises the true amity as an ethological question and expounds that it is worthless apart from the motherland but worthwhile only for the collective and it is the loyalty to the sacred cause, thus giving a philosophical answer to the revolutionary comradeship.
The lyric leads its readers deep into the emotional world of amity as if they were kindly conversing with others. The poem, along with other famous works written by Kim Jong Il, reflects his unswerving confidence and lofty will to attend President Kim Il Sung with loyalty.

New Documentary Released
Pyongyang, May 4 (KCNA) -- The Korean Documentary and Scientific Film Studio recently released the documentary "Grand Hydropower Base in Thaechon Area".
The film vividly depicts historic facts showing that the Thaechon area has been converted into a huge power base under President Kim Il Sung's grand nature-remaking plan and Kim Jong Il's wise guidance.
It presents scenes of Kim Jong Il forming a highly qualified construction team involving servicemen and wisely leading the construction of the power stations, visiting the area several times to solve all the problems and bestowing great loving care upon the builders.
It also shows how heroically the builders including servicemen and youth shock brigade members worked to build the gigantic Songwon and Thaechon dams, excavate huge water tunnels and build five power stations.
The film says that Kim Jong Il spoke highly of the strenuous fighting spirit, the working manner of self-reliance and the optimistic way of life displayed by the builders and set them up as the spirit of Thaechon.
S. Korean Delegation Arrives
Pyongyang, May 4 (KCNA) -- A delegation of the "Movement for Reunified Korean Nation" of south Korea led by Co-representative Han Sang Ryol arrived here today.
It was greeted at the airport by Ri Chung Bok, vice-chairman of the National Reconciliation Council, and officials concerned.
U.S. Hit for Pressurizing S. Korea to Pay More for Upkeep of Its Forces
Pyongyang, May 4 (KCNA) -- The commander of the U.S. forces in south Korea at a recent Senate Armed Services Committee hearing made threatening remarks that the U.S. would reexamine its plan for the relocation of its military bases unless south Korea pays more funds for the upkeep of its forces.
The Secretariat of the Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Fatherland in information bulletin No. 930 issued Friday dismissed his remarks as an intolerable insult to the south Korean people and a wanton violation of the dignity of the Korean nation as they revealed the U.S. arrogant gangster-like nature.
But for the U.S. forces' occupation of south Korea the Korean nation would not have suffered the tragic division nor would have been exposed to the aggression and the threat of a war, the bulletin said.
The U.S. high-handed and arbitrary practices becoming all the more undisguised glaringly betray the true colors of the U.S. as an aggressor who considers south Korea as no more than a hereditary estate and a colony, the bulletin noted, demanding the U.S. pull all its forces and war means out of south Korea at once, instead of pressurizing it to cover a bigger share of the funds for their upkeep.
Protest of Chongryon Officials and Koreans Unabated in Japan
Tokyo, May 2 (KNS-KCNA) -- Officials of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon) and Koreans in Japan staged more actions denouncing the Japanese police authorities' unreasonable search operations against the Korean Students Union in Japan and the Institute for Korean Studies.
A group of protesters made up of Chongryon officials and Koreans in Japan staged an action in protest against the above-said search in front of the Police Agency on April 27.
Armed policemen made desperate efforts to stop the demonstration of the group.
The group reiterated its will not to make even a single step back unless it wrest an apology from the chief who spearheaded the search operations against the above-said institutions.
Three representatives of the group entered the building of the Police Agency and handed a written protest to it.
They charged that the Japanese police authorities' unreasonable search stopped normal activities of not only the Korean Students Union in Japan but various companies and organizations inside the Korean Press Hall, demanding an immediate return of the materials confiscated by the authorities.
Then the group went to the Tomisaka Police Station where Kang Kyong Ik, deputy room chief of the Educational Department of the Central Standing Committee of Chongryon, is now in custody after being arrested by the police authorities during their search of the union and the institute and strongly demanded his release.
That day representatives of Chongryon staged a protest against the Yomiuri Shimbun office.
They met the chief of the ad section of the Yomiuri Shimbun. Terming an article malignantly slandering cadres of Chongryon carried by the newspaper undeniable terrorism, they demanded an immediate retraction of the article. They warned that they would stage a more powerful protest unless their demand is met.
Kim Jong Il Inspects Sub-Unit of KPA Unit
Pyongyang, May 4 (KCNA) -- General Secretary Kim Jong Il inspected a sub-unit of KPA Unit 967.
He acquainted himself with the sub-unit's performance of duty before watching the training of its servicepersons.
He expressed his satisfaction over the fact that all the servicepersons have firmly prepared themselves to be a-match-for-a hundred fighters by concentrating their efforts on the training and put forward the tasks to be undertaken by the sub-unit to further increase its combat capability.
He dropped in at a military lecture room to learn about how the training is being conducted and how combat and technical equipment is managed. He called on all the servicepersons to learn from the spirit with which the anti-Japanese revolutionary fighters prized their arms and value and take good care of them like the apples of their eyes.
Then he took deep care of the living of the servicepersons, looking round an education room, a bedroom, a mess hall, a wash-cum-bath house, a non-staple food store and other entertainment and educational and supply service facilities.
He gave the servicepersons of the unit a pair of binoculars and an automatic rifle as gifts and had a photo session with them.
He was accompanied by KPA Generals Hyon Chol Hae and Kim Myong Guk and Vice Department Director of the WPK Central Committee Kang Tong Yun.

Para llevar a la realidad su imprudente intencion belicista, los imperialistas estadounidenses ubican los modernos pertrechos militares y medios belicos en la Peninsula Coreana, Japon y otras partes de Asia-Pacifico.
@Asimismo, decidieron emplazar en el area mas de mitad de sus portaaviones nucleares y 16 destructores "Aegis" dotados de misiles antibalisticos y planean ahora introducir los misiles de ultimo modelo y aviones de combate en el suelo surcoreano y el archipielago japones.

Pyongyang, 4 de mayo (ATCC) -- La gran unidad entre el ejercito y el pueblo de Corea es la unidad consanguinea de estos que tiene por su nucleo la Direccion de la Revolucion y que esta basada en el rol rector del ejercito popular. Todos los oficiales y soldados del Ejercito Popular y los habitantes deben tomar por bandera invencible de tal gran unidad en la epoca de Songun (priorizacion militar) preparada por el Dirigente Kim Jong Il y avanzar energicamente hacia la cumbre de la gran potencia del Juche.

Pyongyang, 4 de mayo (ATCC) -- La poesia lirica "Meditacion de la camaraderia" es la obra maestra escrita a finales de abril del 46 (1957) de la Era Juche por el Dirigente Kim Jong Il.
Aunque pasaron los 50 anos desde su creacion, ella sigue conmocionando hasta la fecha a las personas por su profundo contenido filosofico.
Al presentar el problema humanista de "?Cual es la verdadera amistad?", aclara que esta no vale la pena al margen de la patria y solo es valida por la colectividad y que significa, en su esencia, la fidelidad a la sagrada causa.

Ri Kyong Sok del Equipo Deportivo "25 de Abril", quien compitio en la division de 56 kilos, rompio el viejo record en la modalidad de envion mientras Kim Chol Jin del Equipo Deportivo de la Ciudad de Pyongyang lo hizo en la calificacion general en categoria de 69 kilos.
En esta cita se destacaron sobre todo las muchachas del Equipo Deportivo Amrokgang.
Pak Un Hui implanto nuevo record en la clasificacion general de su peso de 48 kilos y Pak Hyon Suk, en envion y clasificacion general en su division de 63 kilos.
Especial relevancia tuvo la segunda quien batio la vieja marca desde su primer levantamiento hasta el ultimo.
Igual hazana realizaron Jang Song Wol y Hong Myong Ok, de la categoria de 69 kilos, quienes marcaron nuevas notas en arranque y calificacion general, respectivamente.
Mientras tanto, Ri Un Hye del Equipo Deportivo de la Ciudad de Pyongyang rompio el viejo record en arranque, envion y calificacion general en la categoria de mas de 75 kilos.
