Pyongyang, May 7 (KCNA) -- The Association for Friendship with the Korean People posted articles under various titles with a portrait of Kim Jong Il on the Internet homepage "One Korea Network" on the occasions of the Day of the Sun, the 14th anniversary of Kim Jong Il's election as chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission and the 75th founding anniversary of the heroic Korean People's Army.
The homepage gave a detailed account of the revolutionary career of President Kim Il Sung in an article titled "Life for the Country and the People".
In an article headlined "Boundless Pride of the Nation in Having the Peerlessly Illustrious Commander" the homepage highly lauded the glorious path covered by the KPA which has recorded only victories over the 75 years after its foundation by holding Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il in high esteem. The reality of Korea proves that the Songun policy serves as a weapon of certain victory, an all-powerful treasured sword which guarantees a decisive victory in accomplishing the anti-imperialist cause of independence, stressed the article.
Abe's Reckless Remarks under Fire
Pyongyang, May 7 (KCNA) -- Members of the Federation of Koreans in the U.S. staged actions in New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, etc. in denunciation of the reckless remarks of the Japanese prime minister, according to Minjok Thongsin, an Internet newspaper of Koreans in the U.S.
On April 30, they handed to the Japanese mission at the United Nations and Japanese consulates in the United States the copy of the New York Times which carried an ad denouncing the jargon of Abe about the past crimes related to sexual slavery and a letter of protest addressed to the Abe regime.
Bitterly denouncing the shameless act of Abe in denying the brutality in forcing 200,000 women to sexual slavery for the imperial Japanese army and trying to distort history, the letter of protest demanded an official apology of the Japanese government.
Meanwhile, on April 26, Koreans in the U.S. staged protests in Washington against Abe's trip to the U.S.
Now Koreans in the U.S. are waging a signature campaign to wrest an apology from the Japanese authorities for the "comfort women" issue.
Int'l Trade Fair to Open in Pyongyang
Pyongyang, May 7 (KCNA) -- The 10th Pyongyang Spring International Trade Fair will be held at the Three-Revolution Exhibition from May 14 to 17.
Participating in it will be companies from the DPRK, China, Russia, Syria, the Netherlands, Germany, Bangladesh, Switzerland, Singapore, Australia, Italy, Indonesia, Pakistan, Poland and Taipei of China.
Machine tools, electric and electronic equipment, vehicles, medicaments, daily necessities, foodstuffs and so forth are to be on display in the fair.
Sanatoriums Renovated
Pyongyang, May 7 (KCNA) -- Renovation work of sanatoriums in Kyongsong County of North Hamgyong Province, Samchon County of South Hwanghae Province, Thongchon County of Kangwon Province and other parts of the DPRK are progressing apace so as to deliver better medical service to people.
The Kim Jong Suk Sanatorium has facelifted various buildings including the balneotheraphy building and furnished them with more convalescence and treatment facilities.
In the Talchon Disabled Soldiers Sanatorium, the renovation project for the existing buildings including the general infirmary and the infirmary for disabled soldiers has been wound up and preparations for building 50 houses similar to rural dwelling houses are being made so that working people may lodge there and receive spa treatment.
Besides, tens of sanatoriums including Chongsan Medicinal Spring Water Sanatorium and Naegok Spa Sanatorium across the country are changing their looks as the days go by.
New Book "Interesting Shortcut to Paduk"
Pyongyang, May 7 (KCNA) -- The Sports Publishing House in the DPRK has brought out various kinds of books on paduk (go).
Among them is the newly-published book "Interesting Shortcut to Paduk".
It, which consists of two parts, is aimed at giving education in paduk.
The first part deals with common knowledge, matter of existence and death, foundation for strategic arrangement of paduk stones and other basics.
The second part gives higher techniques including trick confrontation, stone arrangement, connection and block.
Printed in the book are the reference tables for training paduk reserves at kindergartens and educational institutions.
The book also gives the records of paduk games in which Korean players Jo Sae Byol and Kwon Mi Hyon defeated Chinese opponents by employing skilful tricks at the 2nd International Martial Art Games held in Pyongyang in Juche 95 (2006).
The book is enjoying popularity among paduk fans and institutions.
Gift to Kim Jong Il from Laos
Pyongyang, May 7 (KCNA) -- General Secretary Kim Jong Il was presented with a gift by the Commission for External Affairs of the C.C., Lao People's Revolutionary Party.
The gift was conveyed Monday to Choe Thae Bok, secretary of the C.C., Workers' Party of Korea, by Hiem Phommachanh, vice-chairman of the above-said commission, who is heading its delegation on a visit to the DPRK.
Choe Thae Bok Meets Lao Party Delegation
Pyongyang, May 7 (KCNA) -- Choe Thae Bok, secretary of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, met and conversed with the delegation of the Commission for External Affairs of the C.C., Lao People's Revolutionary Party headed by Vice-Chairman Hiem Phommachanh at the Mansudae Assembly Hall on Monday.
Present there were officials concerned and the charge d'affaires ad interim of the Lao embassy here.
The head of the delegation said that the friendly relations between Laos and the DPRK, provided by Comrade Khaysone Phomvihane and Comrade Kim Il Sung, are being further developed by Comrade Choummaly Saynasone and Comrade Kim Jong Il.
And he wished Kim Jong Il good health and great success in his noble work.
World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day Observed
Pyongyang, May 7 (KCNA) -- An event to mark World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day was held on Monday under the co-sponsorship of the Central Committee of the DPRK Red Cross Society and a delegation of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and a delegation of the International Committee of Red Cross (ICRC) active in the DPRK.
Its attendants were informed of the activities of the DPRK Red Cross Society and the federation and ICRC.
Then they exchanged conversations about Red Cross activities.
The event was attended by Vice-Chairman Paek Yong Ho and other officials of the Central Committee of the DPRK Red Cross Society, officials concerned and members of the two international Red Cross delegations.
Present there on invitation were representatives and staff members of foreign embassies and staff members of missions of international organizations here and members of a delegation of the Mongolian Red Cross Society on a visit to the DPRK.

DPRK Friendship Order Awarded to Russian Figure
Pyongyang, May 7 (KCNA) -- A ceremony of awarding an order of the DPRK to the president of the Far Eastern National University of Russia was held at the Mansudae Assembly Hall on Monday.
Present there were Choe Yong Rim, secretary general of the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly, Jon Hyon Chan, vice-chairman of the Korean Committee for Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries, and others.
Also on hand were Vladimir Kurilov, president of the FENU who is heading the visiting delegation of the Maritime Territorial Regional Committee of the All|Russian Party "United Russia", and members of the delegation and Russian Ambassador to the DPRK Valery Sukhinin.
A decree of the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly was read out before conferring Friendship Order First Class of the DPRK on Vladimir Kurilov in recognition of his positive contribution to boosting the scientific and technological and cultural exchange between the DPRK and Russia.

Kim Jong Il inspecciona la Unidad no. 977 del EPC
Pyongyang, 7 de mayo (ATCC) -- El Dirigente Kim Jong Il, Secretario General del Partido del Trabajo de Corea, Presidente del Comite de Defensa Nacional de la Republica Popular Democratica de Corea y Comandante Supremo del Ejercito Popular de Corea, inspecciono la Unidad no. 977 del EPC que ostenta el titulo de Septimo Regimiento de O Jung Hup.
Ante todo, averiguo como esta unidad cumple su mision y vio un entrenamiento de los militares.
Se puso muy satisfecho de que los uniformados de la unidad realizan con responsabilidad la guardia avanzada manteniendo alta su vigilancia y se han formado como combatientes capaces de uno contra cien enemigos y dotados de gran tecnica y capacidad de pelea.
Luego indico las tareas que se presentan para fortalecer por todos los medios la combatividad de la unidad.
Pasando revista a la casa de los militares, la biblioteca y otros establecimientos culturales y educacionales se cercioro del estado de trabajo politico sobre los uniformados.
Encomio que esta unidad forma a todos los militares como heroes del nuevo siglo al desplegar la educacion revolucionaria y clasista de modo original conforme a las caracteristicas de los jovenes uniformados en esas instalaciones magnificamente acondicionadas.
Seguidamente, atendio cordialmente la vida de ellos recorriendo las instalaciones de intendencia y el recinto del cuartel bien arreglados.
Esta unidad ganadora del titulo de Septimo Regimiento de O Jung Hup resulta paradigmatica en todo como el entrenamiento politico y combativo, la intendencia, la administracion del destacamento, etc., afirmo y evaluo altamente los exitos de los militares de la unidad.

Libro "Interesante atajo de Paduk"
Pyongyang, 7 de mayo (ATCC) -- La Editora de Deportes de Corea publica numerosos libros relacionados con Paduk.
Ultimamente edito el libro "Interesante atajo de Paduk".
Este libro consta de dos partes teniendo por objetivo la ensenanza a diferencia de los anteriores relacionados con Paduk.
La primera parte contiene los conocimientos generales, vitales y basicos de las posiciones estrategicas de trebejos de juego de paduk.
@La segunda parte da contenidos de grados relativamente superiores tales como las tacticas en disputa, el manejo de trebejos, su enlace y desenlace.
La tabla consultiva esta hecha de modo bien comprensible y claro para los jardines infantiles y otros organos de ensenanza.
La parte final contiene el proceso de competencia de Paduk de las jugadoras coreanas Jo Sae Byol y Kwon Mi Hyon quienes con tactica maravillosa vencieron a sus rivales chinas durante la Segunda Competencia Internacional de Juegos de Arte Marcial efectuada en Pyongyang en el 95 (2006) de la Era Juche.
En estos momentos el libro acapara la reputacion de los aficionados de paduk y los organos de formacion de jugadores.
