Vietnamese Newspaper Extols Pyongyang
Pyongyang, May 13 (KCNA) -- The Vietnamese newspaper Nhan Dan on May 6 carried its travelogue on Korea highly praising Pyongyang as city of the sun.
Carrying photos of the panoramic views of Kim Il Sung Square and the Grand People's Study House, the travelogue said under the title of "The place where one can enjoy all sceneries" that April is a season when Mangyongdae is visited by a largest number of people.
All members of the family of President Kim Il Sung were revolutionaries, it noted, saying that in his early years he started to learn from his father Kim Hyong Jik how to make revolution.
It wrote that many relics showing the revolutionary life and feats of the President are on display at such historic sites as the Mangyongdae Revolutionary Museum and Sunhwa School.
The travelogue also gave a detailed account of the Tower of the Juche Idea and the Monument to the Three Charters for National Reunification.
Introducing in detail the events held to commemorate and celebrate April holidays in the DPRK and the grand gymnastic and artistic performance "Arirang", it said:
All the places of Pyongyang and local areas which we visited are diverse edifices well combined with the national character and modern aesthetic taste, and they contain rich cultural colors of Korea.
The beautiful city of Pyongyang, where all species of flowers come into full bloom, structures of peculiar styles can be seen here and there and brave and friendly people are living, is the city of the sun leaving unforgettable impressions of the DPRK on its visitors.
Struggle for National Cooperation against Foreign Forces Called for
Pyongyang, May 13 (KCNA) -- An editor of Minjok Thongsin, the Internet newspaper of Koreans in the U.S., posted a commentary on May 8 calling for intensifying the actions to realize national cooperation against foreign forces.
The commentary said:
The improved north-south relations can never be expected as long as national cooperation is ignored and pro-U.S. policy of depending upon foreign forces is allowed to continue in south Korea. This is a lesson taught by the past history of the reunification movement.
The U.S. and the south Korean conservative forces including the Grand National Party have persistently worked to block reconciliation, cooperation and exchange between the north and the south even after the publication of the June 15 joint declaration.
The south Korean "government" authorities are talking about south-north reconciliation and cooperation before the north side but are getting busy with joint war maneuvers with the U.S. targeted against it behind the scene.
There occur in an unbroken chain such abnormal cases in which progressive figures, youths and students are being taken away to prisons and Internet sites related to the DPRK are being disconnected on charges of violation of the "National Security Law", which defines the DPRK as "the enemy", in south Korea today when the nation lives in the June 15 era of reunification.
The commentary called for intensifying the actions to realize national cooperation against foreign forces under the uplifted banner of "By our nation itself" in south Korea in order to put an end to such tragedy at an early date and achieve the reunification of the country.
Struggle against GNP Called for in S. Korea
Pyongyang, May 13 (KCNA) -- A meeting for concluding the 100th street meeting to hear speeches denouncing the Grand National Party of south Korea was reportedly held at the university street of Seoul on May 4.
Speakers recalled at the meeting that members of the Solidarity for Implementing the South-North Joint Declaration, the Solidarity of Youth and Students for Implementing the June 15 Joint Declaration, the south Korean Federation of University Student Councils and other organizations held 100 street meetings to hear speeches denouncing the GNP in major cities across south Korea from March 12.
During the period they distributed copies of literature among inhabitants of various areas to evoke lively responses from people from all walks of life, they stressed.
A resolution read out at the meeting stressed the need to intensify the actions critical of the GNP and steadily stage the movement to explain people its true colors as a sycophantic, treacherous, anti-reunification and corrupt party.
Meanwhile, Kim Ja Gyong, secretary general of the Solidarity for Implementing the South-North Joint Declaration, was interviewed by a reporter of Thongil News on May 8 in connection with the 100 street meetings.
He stressed that the meetings were aimed at assailing such rash acts of the pro-U.S. conservative forces as obstructing the nation's movement for reunification and letting loose of a string of balderdash that they would not rule out a war.
The street meetings offered him an opportunity to realize that the people from all walks of life are getting more aware that they should not live under the pressure of the U.S. but advance toward reunification, not confrontation with the north, he noted, calling for positive actions against the GNP.
U.S.-Japan Conspiracy Assailed
Pyongyang, May 13 (KCNA) -- The relationship of cooperation between the U.S. and Japan, characterized by master-servant relations, is a collusion in which the junior ally curries favor with its senior ally and the latter allures the former, satisfying each other's dark intention, says Rodong Sinmun in a signed article Sunday.
Criticism at the wrong attitude taken by the Abe regime over the issue of "comfort women" for the imperial Japanese army is growing bitter unprecedentedly in the United States. Contrary to this public atmosphere, Bush accorded cordial hospitality to Abe who recently visited the U.S. He praised Abe's window-dressing "apology" for the "comfort women" issue and expressed the U.S. official support for Japan's stand on the "abduction issue", the article notes, and goes on:
Bush's cordial hospitality accorded to Abe was prompted by the U.S. sinister intention to draw Japan nearer to it and effectively use Japan for carrying out its strategic purpose.
It is a calculation of the U.S. that if Japan, its junior ally and henchman, is coaxed, it can be effectively used to realize the U.S. military strategic purpose anytime.
Particularly, the U.S. seeks to use Japan as a shock brigade in realizing its strategy of aggression on the DPRK.
Japan, too, intended to garner greater trust from its master, through Abe's recent visit to the U.S., and create favorable circumstance for realizing its militarist policy under the zealous backing of the U.S. Out of this stand, Japan enforced a policy of coming nearer to the U.S. with the visit as a momentum. The U.S. favored Japan's distortion of history, bringing into bolder relief its ugly colors as an aggressor and wrecker of world peace.
The U.S. and Japan are aggression forces that do not hesitate to have any heinous conspiracy to attain their criminal aims. The criminal nature and danger of such U.S.-Japan conspiracy for aggression can never be concealed.

All Koreans Called upon to Implement Three Tasks for National Reunification
Pyongyang, May 12 (KCNA) -- All the Koreans in the north and the south of Korea and abroad should turn out in the dynamic drive to implement the tasks of attaching importance to the nation, defending peace and achieving unity in order to significantly observe with pride the anniversary of the historic June 15 joint declaration, a landmark for national reunification, urges Rodong Sinmun Saturday in a signed article.
The joint editorial for this year which advanced the above-said three tasks gripped the hearts of all the Koreans in the north and the south and abroad and powerfully aroused them to the sacred struggle to bring earlier the bright future of a reunified country, the article says, adding: The desire of the nation for reunification that mounted high from the outset of the year gave a powerful impetus to its reunification movement.
Underscoring the need for the Korean nation to put spurs to the efforts to implement the three tasks, maintaining high spirit, and thus bring about a heyday in the cause of independent reunification, the article goes on:
This is a solemn task of the national history the implementation of which can neither be avoided nor delayed under any circumstances.
It is necessary for the nation to put strong spurs to the reunification movement this year as it holds an important position in the national history. Immediate tasks facing the nation are to make good preparations for a grand festival for reunification to be held in Pyongyang on the occasion of the 7th anniversary of the publication of the June 15 joint declaration and significantly mark it with signal successes in the reunification movement.
The implementation of those three tasks provides a key to protecting peace on this land and security of the nation and guaranteeing a victorious advance of the movement for independent reunification.
Preserving Juche Character and National Identity Called for
Pyongyang, May 12 (KCNA) -- Preserving the Juche character and national identity provides a sure guarantee for the independent development of any country and nation, observes Rodong Sinmun today in a signed article.
Preserving the Juche character and national identity makes it possible to raise the sense of responsibility and role of the popular masses as the main player in the revolution and construction and give fullest play to their creative enthusiasm and wisdom with a view to accelerating the independent development of the nation, the article notes, and goes on:
If each country and nation are to achieve victory in the revolution and construction, they should establish Juche and handle all the issues arising in carving out their destiny in a responsible manner according to their independent judgment and decision.
If one accepts others' prescriptions or allows their interference, failing to preserve the Juche character in the revolution and construction, this is not the attitude of taking responsibility for the destiny of the country and nation. This would make a mess of the revolution and construction and reduce the country and nation to a plaything of outside forces.
It is important to preserve the national identity in order to promote the independent development of the country and nation.
A failure to firmly preserve the Juche character and national identity may cause the country and nation to lose the gains of the revolution won at the cost of blood, much less achieving their independent development.
The reality requires all the countries and nations desirous of independent development to firmly preserve the Juche character and national identity, protect their ideology and political mode and properly preserve their national characteristics.
