Thanks to the leadership of the President the Korean people dynamically turned out in the anti-Japanese resistance, with the firm faith that Korea was sure to gain independence.
The Pochonbo battle recorded a shining place in the history of the Korean people's anti-Japanese revolutionary struggle as it was an event of significance which proved the truth that a people guided by an outstanding leader can emerge victorious in the confrontation with any formidable imperialist enemies if they struggle to carve out the destiny of the country and the nation with the arms of revolution in their hands, proceeding from the firm independent stand.
The fighting spirit displayed in the Pochonbo battle and exploits performed during the battle made great contributions to enriching the revolutionary traditions of Mt. Paektu and serve as a source of strength and a firm foundation which enable the WPK and the Korean people to advance the revolutionary cause of Juche along the road of victory.
Thanks to these glorious revolutionary traditions the army and people of the DPRK could defeat the brigandish Japanese imperialists, accomplish the historic cause of the country's liberation and successfully build a socialist power, independent in politics, self-supporting in economy and self-reliant in defence.
They put an end to the history of national subjugation and sufferings and covered a victorious road of independence, the path of socialism under the leadership of the President. With Kim Jong Il at the helm of the revolution, they are now creditably burnishing the new era of Juche revolution, the era of Songun, demonstrating the spirit of socialist Korea to the world on the glorious path of upholding his experienced and seasoned Songun revolutionary leadership.
It is the firm will and determination of the WPK to steadfastly carry forward and develop the revolutionary traditions of Juche established by the President and dynamically advance the revolutionary cause of Songun based on the great traditions no matter how the times and situation and conditions of the revolutionary struggle may change.

It said that the main purpose sought for by Japan through the constitutional revision is to remove the mechanism banning the exercise of the "right to collective self-defense" and realize its wild ambition for the reinvasion of Korean Peninsula at any cost.

U.S. moves to Impose Financial Burden upon S. Korea under Fire
Pyongyang, June 3 (KCNA) -- The South Headquarters of the National Alliance for the Country's Reunification and the People for Achieving Peace and Reunification reportedly held a press conference in front of the building of the Ministry of National Defence in Seoul on May 31 to accuse the U.S. of forcing south Korea to cover the expenses for the disposal of its reserve war materiel.
Speakers at the press conference said that negotiations are now under way between the authorities of south Korea and U.S over the issue of disposing of the U.S. reserve war materiel, noting that they are aimed at realizing Washington's intention to free itself from the burden of covering the expenses for the disposal of large quantities of reserve war materiel stockpiled in south Korea.
They termed the U.S. assertion that the transfer of the reserve war materiel to the south Korean army would result in cutting down the above-said expenses by 1.3 billion USD is little short of a blatant call for bringing all the burdens for that purpose upon the shoulders of the south Korean side.
Assailing the military authorities for taking a humiliating negotiating posture, they strongly demanded the Ministry of the National Defence turn down the pressure for covering the above-said expenses.
June 15 Era of Reunification Sure to Triumph under Kim Jong Il's Leadership
Pyongyang, June 3 (KCNA) -- The cause of national independence and the cause of the country's reunification are sure to emerge victorious thanks to the leadership of Kim Jong Il over the movement for national reunification as all Koreans single-mindedly revere him as a peerless patriot, says Rodong Sinmun Sunday in a signed article.
The June 15 joint declaration was a great fruition of Kim Jong Il's noble idea of national independence, his energetic leadership over the movement for national reunification and broad magnanimity based on patriotism, the article notes, and goes on:
The historic Pyongyang meeting and the June 15 joint declaration brought about the phase of historic turning point in which the north and the south advance towards reconciliation, unity and independent reunification through national cooperation.
Now all Koreans in the north, the south and abroad are waging a dynamic struggle to achieve the independent reunification, regarding "By our nation itself" as their common idea of reunification, irrespective of ideology and ism.
Kim Jong Il expounded the idea of giving importance to arms, the idea that peace and security of the country and the destiny of the nation are guaranteed by the force of arms, trained the revolutionary armed forces of the DPRK into invincible armed forces and provided powerful war deterrent for self-defence firmly guaranteeing peace on this land. By doing so, he gave steady continuity to the June 15 era of reunification and enabled not only the people in the north but also the fellow countrymen in the south to live in peace, benefited from the Songun politics. Thanks to the Songun politics of Kim Jong Il, peace on the Korean Peninsula has been firmly protected and the national history is making steady advance towards reconciliation and reunification.
Kim Jong Il kindly invites whoever stands for national reunification with national conscience to join the ranks of Koreans keen to achieve great national unity, be he a capitalist, an army general or one in the upper crust of the ruling quarters. This all-embracing policy based on patriotism serves as a key driver in the era of national reconciliation and unity, the June 15 era of reunification.
Kim Jong Il is, indeed, a great leader of the nation who enjoys the high authority amid the unanimous respect and boundless praise from all Koreans in the north, the south and abroad irrespective of ideology and system as he has made immortal contributions to the sacred patriotic cause for the country and the nation.
There are still many difficulties and obstacles in the way of national reunification. However, the Korean nation is firmly convinced of the victory of the June 15 era of reunification.
Imperialists' Ideological and Cultural Poisoning Accused
Pyongyang, June 3 (KCNA) -- The imperialists' moves for capitalistic ideological and cultural poisoning are their vicious counter-revolutionary ideological offensive aimed at benumbing the sound thinking and consciousness of people and destabilizing and degenerating the anti-imperialist independent countries.
Rodong Sinmun Sunday observes this in a signed article.
It goes on:
The imperialists are keen to spread capitalist idea and culture in a bid to wipe out the revolutionary thinking and consciousness.
It is their calculation that they can not only make their ideology and culture prevail over the whole world but easily win over the people of progressive countries and realize their wild ambition to dominate the world if they effectively use their reptile media without resorting to the force of arms. For this reason, they spend an increasing amount of money every year for boosting the number of reptile media, sharply boosting the quantities of propaganda materials and making them more reactionary and obscene in their contents.
All the propaganda materials produced by the imperialists are without exception most reactionary as they diametrically run counter to progressive ideology and culture and play a very harmful role.
Their moves for ideological and cultural poisoning adversely affect the struggle of the people for independence against imperialism.
The struggle against imperialism precisely means a showdown between forces and ideologies. It is impossible to advance revolution and protect the gains of revolution already achieved unless people are equipped with progressive thought and get working class awareness.
The struggle against the capitalist ideological and cultural poisoning means fierce confrontation with imperialists and a struggle to defend the country's sovereignty without gunfire.
The Korean people will thoroughly frustrate the imperialists' vicious capitalist ideological and cultural poisoning with a high degree of revolutionary vigilance, firmly defend the socialist political and ideological position and thus powerfully accelerate the building of a great prosperous powerful nation, the article concludes.
