Romanian Figure Supports Korea's Reunification
Pyongyang, June 12 (KCNA) -- The Socialist Party of Romania extends support and solidarity to the Korean people dynamically struggling to achieve the independent and peaceful reunification of the country by the concerted efforts of the Korean nation.
Vasile Orleanu, chairman of the Supreme Council of the Socialist Party of Romania, said this in a statement released on June 7 on the occasion of the 7th anniversary of the publication of the June 15 North-South Joint Declaration.
The June 15 North-South Joint Declaration is a historic declaration as it indicated the most just milestone for achieving the national unity in the idea of "By our nation itself" and realizing the reunification of the country independently and peacefully free from foreign interference, he noted, and went on:
The publication of the historic June 15 joint declaration turned the inter-Korean relations into the relations of reconciliation and cooperation from those of mistrust and confrontation and made cooperation and exchange brisk in various fields from the stand of placing the desire and interests of the compatriots above anything else.
He expressed conviction that the Korean people would register greater success in their struggle to achieve the independent and peaceful reunification of the country by uniting close under the banner of the joint declaration.
Repeal of NSL Demanded in S. Korea
Pyongyang, June 12 (KCNA) -- The preparatory committee for the Solidarity for Progress and the People's Solidarity for the Repeal of the "National Security Law" (NSL) in south Korea reportedly held a seminar on June 7 demanding the repeal of the evil law.
Speakers accused the security authorities of intensifying their suppression by invoking the NSL among other things.
They strongly denounced the security authorities for forcibly disconnecting Internet homepages of organizations or individuals judged to be violating the NSL and submitting to the "National Assembly" the "bill on information and telecommunication network," the "bill on protecting the secret of telecommunication," etc. for the purpose of watching people.
The disbandment of the unpopular security organs is an important action to repeal the evil law, they said, calling upon the people from all walks of life to turn out in the drive to repeal the law.
Prior to the seminar, a report was delivered on the human rights abuses committed by the security authorities on the strength of the NSL.
Japanese Reactionaries' Ambition for Overseas Expansion under Fire
Pyongyang, June 12 (KCNA) -- The gentries of the Japan Defense Ministry including the chief of Staff of the "Air Self-Defense" disclosed their intention to retain cluster bombs at a recent Lima international conference for banning cluster bombs held in Peru, letting loose a string of balderdash that they are needed for the sake of defense and necessary to stop the enemy landing.
Timed to coincide with this, Japan's Defense Minister Kyuma told a press conference that Japan needs cluster bombs for the defense of the state, stunning the international community.
Minju Joson Tuesday in a signed commentary carried in this regard says that the ulterior aim sought by Japan in persisting in the use of cluster bombs while opposing their ban despite the world's unanimous demand for it is to realize its ambition for overseas expansion at any cost.
It goes on:
The Japanese reactionaries are frantically pushing forward such moves to turn Japan into a military power as bolstering the armed forces of the "Self-Defense Forces (SDF)" and putting spurs to the development and deployment of modern military hardware, on the premise that military hegemony is essential for becoming the "leader" of Asia.
The SDF has emerged a dangerous force of aggression possessed of such ultra modern military hardware as cluster bombs, and aggressor forces.
The Japanese reactionaries would be well advised to behave themselves, aware that challenging the demand of the era for a total elimination of weapons of mass destruction will only precipitate their own international isolation and destruction.
Rodong Sinmun on Arming Whole Society with Socialist Patriotism
Pyongyang, June 12 (KCNA) -- The Workers' Party of Korea is a revolutionary party which is triumphantly accelerating the cause of socialism with the might of idea with a tight grasp on idea as the keystone, states Rodong Sinmun in an article Tuesday.
The author of the article continues:
Today when the struggle for the building of a great prosperous powerful nation is progressing apace, the powerful weapon tightly held by the WPK is the ideological work and the main key to all victories and successes lies in invigorating this work.
Arming the whole society with socialist patriotism is a work to firmly arm all the members of society with socialist patriotism and train them as ardent patriots devotedly striving for the prosperity and development of the country.
In the whole course of guiding the revolution and construction, the WPK has directed primary efforts to arming the Party members and other working people with the idea of socialist patriotism, keeping a tight hold on the theory of ideology. The WPK set it forth as the main task of the ideological work to implant patriotic faith deep into the hearts of the popular masses and has steadily strengthened it. Under its wise guidance the Korean people have grown into revolutionaries of Juche type and true patriots making socialism their conviction and morality, and they are devoting all their strength and enthusiasm to the prosperity of the motherland.
To arm the whole society with socialist patriotism is the cardinal demand in firmly defending the Korean-style socialist system and the revolutionary gains from the imperialist aggression.
Today the army and people of the DPRK are reliably defending the socialist system, their cradle of life, cherishing socialism as what keeps them alive.
The U.S. imperialists and the reactionaries are resorting to every conceivable means to pull down Korean-style socialism. However, no aggressive move and psychological artifice of the enemies can ever work with the army and people of the DPRK who are further sharpening the bayonet of the revolution and of the class with ardent love for the socialist motherland and burning hatred for the class enemies.
To arm the whole society with socialist patriotism is a decisive guarantee for a new leap in the building of the economic power today, and it is an important requirement to fully preserve the national character in all spheres of social life and further glorify the superb national culture and tradition.
Bush Team's Sophism Blasted
Pyongyang, June 12 (KCNA) -- A spokesman for the White House recently let loose a spate of sophism that U.S. President Bush is considering the plan to operate its troops present in Iraq the same way as done in south Korea, claiming that the U.S. forces in south Korea have made a "contribution" to "maintenance of stability" and "democratic development" there.
Commenting on this, Rodong Sinmun today observes:
The purpose of floating such sophism is to justify the long-term presence of the U.S. forces in Iraq.
It is a sheer lie for the Bush team to assert that the U.S. troops in south Korea made the above-said "contribution".
The U.S. troops in south Korea are the aggressor forces which illegally occupied it. They are the uninvited villains who put the half of Korea under their occupation under the mask of "liberator" after it was liberated from the colonial rule of the Japanese imperialists. They are the brigandish aggressor forces and a group of savage murderers who imposed calamities of war upon the Korean nation to grab the whole of Korea.
Bush team's painting of the U.S. forces in south Korea as a "war deterrent ensuring peace and stability" is no more than window-dressing to cover up the criminal nature of the U.S. troops in south Korea.
But for the U.S. forces' illegal occupation of south Korea, the Korean nation would have had a fundamentally different history: Korea would have not been divided into two parts and the Korean nation would not have faced the issue of national reunification, a cherished desire. All the Koreans would have achieved democratic development and national prosperity in one state under one and the same social system.
The Bush government is sadly mistaken if it calculates it can seek a way out of the bottomless quagmire in which it is now finding itself due to the daily worsening Iraq crisis, by operating its forces there the same way as done in south Korea.
It had better opt for pulling its forces out of south Korea and Iraq as early as possible.
Withdrawal of U.S. Forces from S. Korea Demanded
Pyongyang, June 12 (KCNA) -- The U.S. forces should be driven out of south Korea. This is the only way for the south Korean people to realize their desire for independence and live a worthy life and prevent the recurrence of the tragic death of Sin Hyo Sun and Sim Mi Son.
A spokesman for the North Headquarters of the Nationwide Special Committee for Probing the Truth behind the GIs' Crimes declared this in a statement released on Tuesday five years since soldiers of the U.S. imperialist aggressor forces in south Korea drove their armored car over the two middle schoolgirls on a roadside, killing them in cold blood.
This murder of the schoolgirls that triggered off the popular anti-U.S. resistance of the south Koreans, marked an important opportunity of bringing the anti-U.S. sentiment in south Korea to a new height as was the case with the Kwangju massacre, the statement noted, and went on:
The arbitrary practices and atrocities of the U.S. imperialist aggressor forces in south Korea are becoming evermore undisguised.
The blood-stained history of the U.S. forces' presence in south Korea that has lasted for more than six decades and its grim reality today clearly indicate that the U.S. is the sworn enemy of the Korean nation and the south Koreans can never be free from disasters and misfortune unless the U.S. policy of occupation is brought to an end.
The people from all walks of life in south Korea should rise up in the anti-U.S. resistance against its military presence and domination with the same resentment and spirit as were displayed five years back.

Historical Relics in Mt. Jongbang
Pyongyang, June 12 (KCNA) -- Famous Mt. Jongbang located in Jongbang-ri, Sariwon City, North Hwanghae Province, is endowed with many historical relics associated with the wisdom and talent of the Korean people.
Typical of them is the Jongbang Mountain Fort built in the period of Koryo. It is 12 kilometers round and 5-6 meters high.
The stone fort, built by taking the advantage of high and steep natural conditions, stands alongside with the road linking the north with the south in the west coastal areas of the country.
The Nam Gate, the south gate of the mountain fort, is about a kilometer off from the entrance of the Mt. Jongbang recreation ground. It presents the traditional architectural beauty of the Korean nation.
The pavilion above the Nam Gate, which was burnt by the U.S. imperialists during the Fatherland Liberation War (June 1950-July 1953), has been restored to its original state.
The Nam Gate with an arch gateway and a hip-saddle-roofed pavilion above it blends well with the beautiful surroundings.
There is the famous Songbul Temple built in 898 within the mountain walls.
The temple has the Chongphung Pavilion, its gate, where Buddhist rites were held in the past, the Kukrak Hall which was restored to the original state in the period of the postwar rehabilitation and construction, the colorfully painted Ungjin Hall of unique architectural patterns which has been kept in its original state since it was rebuilt in the 14th century and the five-storied square pagoda which is typical of pagoda architecture in the period of Koryo.
There are various monuments, sites of temples and others in Mt. Jongbang.

S. Korean Military Warmongers Warned Not to Run Riot
Pyongyang, June 12 (KCNA) -- The south Korean military warlike forces had better clearly understand that our warning is not an empty talk and stop running amuck, pondering over the disastrous consequences to be entailed by their military provocations. This warning was served by the Navy Command of the Korean People's Army in its press release issued on June 12 in connection with the ceaseless infiltration of warships deep into the territorial waters of the DPRK side.
According to the press release, the south Korean forces infiltrated more than 10 warships into the territorial waters of the DPRK side on June 12 alone including the intrusion of warship 767 deep into the territorial waters of its side southeast of Kuwol Peak, Ssanggyo-ri, Kangryong County, South Hwanghae Province at around 2:10 on the same day to attain a sinister purpose.
On June 9 and 10 the south Korean forces infiltrated dozens of various type warships deep into the territorial waters of the DPRK side, kicking up an atmosphere for confrontation.
Timed to coincide with this, the south Korean forces kept fighter bombers and armed helicopters ready to go into action any moment and ordered the artillery units deployed on five islets in the West Sea of Korea to maintain a combat posture.
These frantic military provocations of the south Korean military warmongers in the West Sea have rendered the situation there so tense that a fresh armed conflict may break out any moment.
The navy of the Korean People's Army is fully determined to sternly punish the provokers to cope with the prevailing grave situation.
