June 15 North-South Joint Declaration Favored by British Figure
Pyongyang, July 1 (KCNA) -- Dermot Hudson, chairman of the British Association for the Study of Songun Policy, posted an article titled "Songun and June 15 era of reunification" on the Internet Homepage on the occasion of the 7th anniversary of the publication of the June 15 North-South Joint Declaration.
Under the sub-title "Birth of June 15 era of reunification " he gave a detailed account of the fact that late in the last century Kim Jong Il remarkably augmented the national power, holding aloft the banner of Songun to cope with the imperialists' frantic moves to isolate the DPRK and brought about a phase favorable for accomplishing the cause of reunification, fully demonstrating its dignity and might.
It was thanks to Kim Jong Il that there took place such historic events as the inter-Korean summit and the publication of the June 15 North-South Joint Declaration, a product of the might of his political mode, Songun politics.
Under the sub-title "Advance of June 15 era of reunification " he wrote that the Songun politics serves as a mighty treasured sword for dynamically accelerating the movement for Korea's reunification along the orbit of independence as it helps firmly protect the sovereignty and dignity of the nation and further strengthen the driving force for reunification.
The DPRK, possessed of powerful military deterrent of justice, a product of his Songun politics, has won one victory after another in the confrontation with the U.S. and the June 15 era of reunification is making dynamic progress as this has created favorable circumstances and conditions for the Korean nation to achieve independent and peaceful reunification.
Security Authorities' Unwarranted Suppression Protested in S. Korea
Pyongyang, July 1 (KCNA) -- The south Korean Confederation of Trade Unions reportedly made public a statement on June 27 in protest against the security authorities' unwarranted suppression of the All-People Movement Headquarters for Checking South Korea-U.S. Free Trade Agreement.
Accusing the security authorities of requesting in advance warrants of arrest for co-representatives of the headquarters, the statement declared that this was prompted by their sinister intention to quell the actions of the people against the conclusion of the FTA with the U.S. and produce it at any cost.
Describing the actions of the headquarters as just ones to scuttle the humiliating negotiations as they are under way without any consultation with the people, the statement demanded an immediate halt to the unreasonable suppression of its actions.
The workers will carry on their strenuous actions against the conclusion of the FTA braving any crackdown by the security authorities, it declared.

Performances Given by Art Groups of Families of KPA Servicemen Prove Successful
Pyongyang, June 30 (KCNA) -- The era of Songun witnessed the emergence of the performing art of families of servicemen of the Korean People's Army.
The participants in the ten contests among the art groups of families of servicemen of the KPA gave more than 560 performances, drawing audiences of over million servicepersons and civilians.
Supreme Commander of the KPA Kim Jong Il, while giving field guidance to a unit of the KPA in the western sector of the front in January, Juche 87 (1998), told commanding officers that it was necessary for the KPA to organize a contest among art groups of families of its servicemen from that time on and gave meaningful instructions on its purpose and significance.
In the subsequent period, too, he underscored several times the need to make it a tradition to organize the above-said contest on the occasion of the Day of the Sun every year and indicated the orientation and ways of solving all the issues arising in doing so ranging from the issue of giving fresh content and style to the contest, its organization and scale, the standard for the jury to costumes of the performers.
He spared time to appreciate and guide at least 420 art pieces included in the repertoires of more than 30 performances from the presentation made by those participants in the first contest held in April, Juche 87 (1998) to the performance given by the participants in the tenth contest, placing their performing art on a new phase.
The performing art of servicemen's families, an example of popular culture and art, is perfect in its ideological value and artistry and militant in its presentation.
The performances given by the art groups of servicemen's families powerfully encouraged all the servicepersons and people to perform shining feats in defending the country and building a great prosperous powerful socialist nation, cherishing the Songun revolutionary idea and the revolutionary soldier spirit deep in their minds.
Bombs, Shells and Bullets Used by U.S. Discovered in Kaesong
Kaesong, June 29 (KCNA) --More bombs, shells and bullets have been discovered in Kaesong to bear witness to the atrocities committed by the U.S. imperialist aggressors.
After igniting the Korean war on June 25, 1950 they massively dropped bombs including germ bombs and fired shells and bullets, severely destroying Kaesong City, an ancient cultural hub, and killing innocent people in cold blood.
In recent several months alone the city discovered a 250kg-dud bomb and more than 150 bombs, shells and bullets of various kinds and 17 hand-grenades used by the U.S. imperialist aggressors during the Korean war.
Two dud bombs were unearthed in Ryohyon-ri and over 100 shells including gun and howitzer shells were discovered in Sonjok-ri, Ryongsan-ri and other areas.
25 machine gun bullets were found on Ojongmun Pass, five hand-grenades in Taeryon-ri and at least 20 shells and bullets in the vicinity of Pongdong Railway Station which had been leveled to the ground by destruction.
Shortly ago 8 carbine bullets were found at the children's hospital in the city while a work was done to spruce up its surrounding.
Japan Urged to Make Official Apology for Sexual Slavery
Pyongyang, June 30 (KCNA) -- Over 20 women's organizations of south Korea including the Council for the Solution of the Issue of the Volunteers Corps, the Women's Society for Achieving Peace and the South Korean Federation of Women's Organizations reportedly called a press conference in front of the Japanese embassy in Seoul on June 27 demanding the Japanese government's official apology for Japan's crimes related to sexual slavery in the past.
Speeches were made at the press conference and a statement was issued.
The statement referred to the fact that a resolution seeking an official apology from the Japanese government for the sexual exploitation of Asian women was passed through the Foreign Affairs Committee of the U.S. House of Representatives on June 26.
The atrocities perpetrated by the Japanese imperialists against Korean women in the past are an inhuman crime which should not to be repeated, the statement said, stressing this issue should be settled as early as possible to reinstate the survivors of the crime who have lived in misery due to physical and psychological pain.
The statement stressed that the Japanese government should make an official apology for the sexual slavery and let its rising generation properly know about Japan's past crimes and make efforts to prevent the reoccurrence of such inhuman acts as called for by the resolution.
Dissolution of "UN Forces Command" Urged
Pyongyang, June 30 (KCNA) -- A spokesman for the Korean National Peace Committee released a statement on June 29 as regards the lapse of 50 years since the United States introduced the "UN Forces Command" into south Korea.
This command is an illegal military mechanism for aggression which was set up in July 1950 just after the U.S. provoked the Korean War. The U.S. cooked up this mechanism by abusing the name of the United Nations to veil its true colors as an aggressor and massively ship into the Korean front its armed forces together with troops of its satellite countries. After its defeat in the war, the U.S. transferred the command from Tokyo of Japan to south Korea on July 1, 1957, while being hell-bent on the moves to ignite another war against the DPRK.
Recalling the facts, the statement said:
Since the transfer of the command into south Korea, the U.S. has kept its forces' presence in south Korea under the signboard of the "UN forces", more desperately engaging itself on the moves for domination, interference and war.
Though a resolution calling for its disbandment was adopted at the 30th Session of the UN General Assembly in 1975, the U.S. has kept it up until now. It is nowadays working hard to reorganize the command into a "multi-national coalition body" while talking about the transfer of the "right to command wartime operations" in a bid to calm down the daily growing public demand for the withdrawal of its forces and expand its moves for a war of aggression worldwide.
This is an open challenge to the entire Korean nation and public opinion at home and abroad aspiring after the peace on the Korean Peninsula.
The U.S. can never be allowed to continue its moves for permanent occupation of south Korea and against the DPRK under the helmet of the "UN forces".
The "UN forces" in south Korea are aggression forces commanded by the U.S. from A to Z.
The "UN Forces Command", a leftover of the last Korean War, should be dissolved at once and the U.S. forces withdrawn from south Korea.
The U.S. should immediately disband the "UN Forces Command" and withdraw its aggression forces from south Korea as unanimously demanded by all the Koreans and the international community.
The people from all walks of life in south Korea should resolutely reject the U.S. military occupation and moves for war of aggression on the DPRK and more bravely turn out in the struggle to get the U.S. imperialist aggression forces withdrawn from south Korea.
Greetings to Sudanese President
Pyongyang, June 30 (KCNA) -- Kim Yong Nam, president of the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly, today sent a message of greetings to Omar Hassan Ahmed Al-Bashir, President of Sudan, on the occasion of the 18th anniversary of the Sudanese revolution.

Expressing the belief that the friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries would grow stronger, Kim wished the Sudanese president greater success in his responsible work.
Aerial Espionage against DPRK Escalated in First Half of Year
Pyongyang, June 30 (KCNA) -- The U.S. imperialists and the south Korean forces committed more than 170 cases of aerial espionage against the DPRK in June, bringing the total number of cases of aerial espionage to more than 1,100 in the first half of the year, according to military sources.
On June 27, the U.S. imperialist aggressor forces let their overseas-based RC-135 fly in the air above the areas along the Military Demarcation Line (MDL) for a long time in a bid to spy on all areas of the DPRK.
They let two south Korea-based U-2s make simultaneous shuttle flights in the sky above the East and West Seas of Korea along the extension of the MDL day and night to perpetrate aerial observation, photographing and electronic espionage against all areas in the depth of the DPRK on June 11 and 19 each. The number of cases of aerial espionage by this type of reconnaissance plane reached at least 150 in the first half of the year alone.
The U.S. imperialists mobilized RC-7B, RC-12, EP-3, E-3 and reconnaissance planes with various other missions and commanding planes, 4-5 on a daily average, on the 5th, 14th, 19th and 25th of June for madcap aerial espionage against the DPRK. More than 500 cases of aerial espionage were committed by RC-12 and RC-7B up to date from the beginning of the year.
The warmongers of the south Korean forces let 2 or 3 RC-800s and RF-4Cs fly in the sky above the areas along the MDL to spy on the frontline and central areas of the DPRK everyday in June in a coordinated operation with the U.S. imperialist aggressor forces.
Their RC-800 perpetrated a total of at least 360 cases of aerial espionage while their RF-4C committed more than 80 in the last six months.

Japanese Authorities' Suppression of Chongryon under Fire in S. Korea
Pyongyang, June 30 (KCNA) -- The Press Headquarters of the South Side's Committee for Implementing the June 15 Joint Declaration reportedly made public a statement titled "Japanese government should immediately lift sanctions and halt suppression of Koreans in Japan" on June 25.
The statement accused the Tokyo Distric Court and the Resolution and Collection Corporation in Japan of hatching a sinister plot to dispose of the Hall of the Central Headquarters of the General Association of the Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon).
The statement said that this is an act of hamstringing the efforts of the international community to bring peace to the Korean Peninsula as it means intensifying the human rights abuses and suppression of the Koreans in Japan.
What is more intolerable is that the Japanese prime minister himself let loose reckless remarks groundlessly incriminating Chongryon and is using the issue of collecting bonds for noisy anti-DPRK, anti-Chongryon propaganda, it noted.
It demanded the Japanese government stop at once the anti-Chongryon campaign and let the ultra-right forces discontinue their unreasonable acts of violence against Koreans in Japan.
Stop to Abe Regime's Anti-DPRK, Anti-Chongryon Campaign Demanded
Tokyo, June 28 (KNS-KCNA) -- The Central Standing Committee of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon) released a statement Thursday condemning the Resolution and Collection Corporation of Japan for taking a repressive measure against Chongryon at the instruction of the Abe regime.
Recalling that the corporation issued an application for the forced sale of the Hall of the Central Headquarters of Chongryon, the statement declared that the action was aimed at usurping the hall quite contrary to its original mission of bond collection.
The statement went on:
Since the appearance of the Abe regime Japan's hostile policy towards the DPRK and Chongryon has become evermore pronounced. It is against this backdrop that such business issue as collection of bonds has become a political issue and the above-said corporation took a repressive action in total disregard of law, common sense and practice.
Clear is the reason behind this action.
Chongryon has played the role of a DPRK diplomatic mission abroad under the present situation where there are no diplomatic relations between the DPRK and Japan.
Nevertheless, the Abe regime has been engrossed in a noisy anti-Chongryon campaign, deliberately misrepresenting its legitimate activities.
The moves of the Abe regime against the DPRK and Chongryon are nothing but extremely anachronistic and foolish acts quite contrary to the world trend.
We demand the Abe regime lift at once the sanctions including the embargo on the ship "Mangyongbong-92" that have done great harm to the living of the Koreans in Japan and guarantee the Koreans in Japan their right to existence and other rights.
We, at the same time, strongly demand that the Resolution and Collection Corporation respond to the sincere negotiations for reconciliation with Chongryon and retract at once its application for unreasonable forced sale of the Hall of the Central Headquarters of Chongryon, proceeding from its fair stand free from any discrimination.
It is our hope that the Tokyo District Court will dismiss at once the application for forced sale made by the above-said corporation.
The unreasonable action taken by the Abe regime and the corporation will leave an indelible blot on the history of the relations between the DPRK and Japan as it is a serious breach of the spirit of the DPRK-Japan Pyongyang Declaration.
DPRK Foreign Ministry Spokesman Blasts Anti-Chongryon Campaign in Japan
Pyongyang, July 1 (KCNA) -- A spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the DPRK Sunday issued a statement denouncing the Abe group's evermore undisguised suppression of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon).
The statement said:
These days the Abe group's anti-Chongryon campaign has reached such a reckless and hideous phase that it can never be tolerated.
Abe inherited ultra-nationalism and national chauvinism from his ancestors who had been steeped in the antipathy towards Koreans to the marrow of their bones. He has escalated the anti-DPRK, anti-Chongryon racket since he assumed the premiership by inciting bitterness towards the DPRK.
The Abe group has taken harsh actions against Chongryon and Koreans in Japan such as forcible search of its facilities and their houses, assaults and arrests of them last year and this year. Not content with this, it is working hard to force upon Chongryon the sale of the plottage and building of the Hall of its headquarters through the Resolution and Collection Corporation.
The Abe group instructed the corporation to raise an extremely discriminative and unfair demand to Chongryon, persistently turning down its sincere and reasonable proposals to redeem debts. It has thus unilaterally hamstrung Chongryon's efforts for the solution of the problem.
This is nothing but a wanton infringement upon the sovereignty of the DPRK which no previous regime of Japan dared as it is a move to physically remove the centre of activities of Chongryon, a champion of democratic national rights of Koreans in Japan, and stamp out the activities of Chongryon and Koreans in Japan.
Chongryon is a legitimate overseas compatriots organization of the DPRK whose mission is to protect the democratic national rights of the direct victims of the criminal drafting of Koreans by the Japanese imperialists in the past and the Koreans in Japan, their descendants.
The present Japanese authorities are under an unavoidable legal and moral obligation to protect Chongryon and guarantee its activities in the light of the historical background against which Chongryon came into being and the crimes committed by the Abes against the Korean nation for several generations.
Nevertheless, the Abe group is keen to usurp even the building and plottage of Chongryon, not content with its crackdown on it. This is a blatant violation of the sovereignty of the DPRK little short of financial sanctions.
No matter how noisily the Japanese authorities trumpet that their action to usurp buildings of Chongryon is a "business matter related to the collection of bonds," the terror-ridden campaign sweeping Japan is a product of Abe's premeditated plot and his direct instruction to realize his political ambition to all intents and purposes.
Abe is now feeling uneasy about the steady decline of the support rate for him with the election to the House of Councillors slated to take place late in July. Finding his far-fetched assertion about the "issue of abduction" no longer workable, he has gone insane in his move to usurp the building of Chongryon in a bid to put the DPRK-Japan relations to the lowest ebb and lay a hurdle in the way of the six-party talks.
The aim sought by Japan in chilling the efforts to bring about progress at the six-party talks designed to denuclearize the Korean Peninsula is to drag on the settlement of the problem in a bid to use it as a pretext till its militarization has become a reality.
It is quite ridiculous for the Abe group to harshly suppress Chongryon which has done nothing wrong as soon as its delegates went back to Japan from the talks where they kept mum.
As Japan is behaving so dastardly with a black-hearted intention, the DPRK cannot but raise a serious question as to whether there is any need for its continued participation in the six-party talks.
The DPRK will never remain a passive on-looker to the Abe group's harsh suppression of Chongryon and its relevant field will take necessary steps against it.
