Victory in Fatherland Liberation War Observed
Pyongyang, July 27 (KCNA) -- Today marks the 54th anniversary of the victory in the great Fatherland Liberation War (1953.7.27).
Papers today in editorials dedicated to the occasion say that the army and people of the DPRK regard July 27 as revolutionary and auspicious holiday as they humbled the pride of the U.S. imperialists who boasted of being the "strongest" in the world and demonstrated to the world the might of new Korea built in the East.
Rodong Sinmun stresses that the victory in the great Fatherland Liberation War is of a great significance in the sacred Songun revolutionary history of the DPRK.
It goes on:
The world history of revolutionary wars does not know such a great revolutionary war as the Fatherland Liberation War that has dealt heavy blows at the imperialist aggressors and greatly contributed to the development of history and struggle of the revolutionary people for independence against imperialism.
The historic victory in the Fatherland Liberation War was the brilliant fruition of the immortal Songun idea and exploits of Songun leadership of President Kim Il Sung.
It was also the brilliant victory won thanks to the unshakable iron will and pluck, gifted military wisdom and strategy and tactics of Kim Il Sung.
It was the victory won by unity and indomitable mental power of the army and people of the DPRK firmly united around Kim Il Sung.
The Fatherland Liberation War proved that no force can break this unity and match the mental power of the army and people led by the great leader. Herein lies the tremendous historic significance of the victory in the war.
The 50-odd post-war years were proud years when the army and people of the DPRK have inherited the great feats performed in the war and tradition provided there and thus performed epoch-making miracles and exploits in the struggles to defend socialism and build a rich and powerful country.
It is the great pride and honor of the army and people of the DPRK to eternally glorify the history of the great victory won in the anti-imperialist and anti-U.S. struggle, blessed by leaders generation after generation.
Only victory and glory are in store for them advancing toward the bright future with full confidence under the great Songun leadership of the headquarters of the revolution.

Withdrawal of Units Dispatched to Iraq and Afghanistan Urged in S. Korea
Pyongyang, July 27 (KCNA) -- The South Headquarters of the National Alliance for the Country's Reunification (Pomminryon) reportedly issued a statement on July 22 in which it demanded the withdrawal of units dispatched to Afghanistan.
Recalling that at least 20 south Korean civilians were recently detained in Afghanistan, the statement said it is a tragedy produced by the unjustifiable measure taken by the present "government" to dispatch the units while talking about south Korea-U.S. "alliance" despite the opposition of the people.
The statement noted that the "government" should stop "war alliance" with the U.S. without delay and declare the withdrawal of units dispatched to Iraq and Afghanistan.
The South Headquarters of Pomminryon will never let the detained civilians fall victim to the "war alliance" pursued by the present "government" by toeing the U.S. line and submitting to it, the statement stressed.
Abolition of Remnants of Evil Laws of Japanese Imperialists Demanded
Pyongyang, July 27 (KCNA) -- It is essential to completely get rid of remnants left by the Japanese imperialists in south Korea in order to settle account with Japan over its past crimes by the united efforts of all the Koreans.
Minju Joson Friday says this in a signed commentary, 100 years since the Japanese imperialists fabricated the "Security Law" after their occupation of Korea.
It goes on:
The "Security Law" served as a medieval oppressive means to obliterate the struggle of the Korean people against the Japanese imperialists' aggression of Korea and treacherous acts of traitors to the nation.
The remnants of the evil laws of the Japanese imperialists still remain in south Korea though over 60 years have passed since the liberation of Korea.
The "National Security Law," faked up by the ancestors of the "Grand National Party" of south Korea and retrogressively revised several times since then, is a pro-Japanese evil law cooked up by imitating the Japanese imperialists' "Maintenance of the Public Order Act" after the liberation of the country.
The GNP has used the law as a tool of blocking the advance of the fellow countrymen towards the national reconciliation, unity and reunification, challenging the June 15 era.
This is an intolerable act as the Korean nation is aflame with hatred and thirsty for revenge on the Japanese reactionaries.
The commentary calls upon the south Korean people to bravely turn out in the struggle against Japan and the GNP, bearing in mind that if the GNP comes to power the social development will surely go backward and a war break out on this land.
Japan's "Defense White Paper for 2007" Assailed
Pyongyang, July 27 (KCNA) -- Japan recently made public the "Defense White Paper for 2007". In the paper the Japanese reactionaries marked Tok Islet as part of Japan's territory and set it as one of the main tasks of the "Self-Defence Forces" to put it under the control of Japan. In a word, Japan proposed to set it as a state policy to seize the islet by force of arms.
Rodong Sinmun Friday says this in a signed article.
Noting that the designation of Tok Islet as territory of Japan again in the "Defense White Paper for 2007" clearly reveals the Japanese militarists' ever-more undisguised ambition for reinvasion of Korea, the article goes on:
Tok Islet is an inalienable part of Korea's territory which has been governed by its people and served the nation along with its long history.
But Japan openly claimed dominium over the islet, making far-fetched assertion that it belongs to Japan, thus sparking off territorial dispute with Korea. The Japanese samurais have left no means untried to occupy the islet, having an eye to it from long ago.
Their descendents are now intentionally causing territorial dispute with Korea after setting the "defence of Tok Islet" as their state policy.
The above-said Japanese reactionaries' attempt shows that they seek to stage a comeback to Korea any time with the issue of the disputed islet as a pretext.
According to the white paper, Japan is to push ahead with the establishment of the missile defence system (MD) and partially deploy it for an actual war by this year to cope with the "missile threat" from the DPRK. This is a military measure aimed to boost capability of attack for reinvasion of Korea.
The Japanese reactionaries' designation of Tok Islet as part of Japan's territory and their decision to step up the establishment of MD is a red signal to cause trouble with the DPRK under the pretext of the issue of Tok Islet.
The Japanese reactionaries' assertion on "dominium over Tok Islet" is aimed to stage a comeback not only to the islet but the whole Korea and the rest of Asia.
The aggressive nature of the Japanese militarists remains unchanged and their moves for reinvasion are getting pronounced as the days go by.
