Kang Pan Sok's Life Will Shine long along with Songun Revolutionary Exploits
Pyongyang, July 31 (KCNA) -- July 31 this year is the 75th anniversary of the death of Kang Pan Sok (mother of President Kim Il Sung), an outstanding leader of the Korean women's emancipation movement and indomitable revolutionary fighter. On this occasion, the Korean people are looking back with deep emotion upon her brilliant life which was dedicated to the cause of building the Juche-oriented army.
Firmly convinced that only Songun was the way for the liberation of the country and the freedom and happiness of the people, she exerted all her efforts to uphold President Kim Il Sung's idea of attaching importance to arms at the dawn of the Korean revolution.
She handed over to her son two pistols left by his father Kim Hyong Jik. The pistols were associated with the father's firm will that the country should be won back without fail generation after generation. She devoted herself to implementing the President's line on armed struggle.
She organized and mobilized members of the anti-Japanese women's association to secure military uniforms, shoes, supplies and others for the Anti-Japanese People's Guerilla Army and looked after the lodging and boarding of the youth people who came from various areas to fight with arms in their hands.
Seeing the reliable figures of guerillas just after the foundation of the first Juche-oriented revolutionary armed force of the Korean people and stroking this or that rifle, she said in earnest:
"I am proud of you. Now we have our own army! That's what we needed. You must destroy the Japanese and win back the country without fail."
Prior to the expedition to south Manchuria, the President came home to inquire after his sick mother. She, with the lofty intention, did not scruple to send him to the Songun revolutionary struggle, saying that a man with the determination to win back the ruined country should think of the country and people above the apprehension for household affairs.
The President had kept the lofty image of the upright mother on the day in his mind as one of a teacher.
The President, always remembering the words and last image of his mother, accomplished the historic cause of national liberation through the protracted bloody anti-Japanese war and built a powerful socialist country, independent in politics, self-supporting in economy and self-reliant in national defense.

As a Russian artiste I was deeply impressed to meet him.
We got deep impressions when we visited Pyongyang Kim Won Gyun Conservatory and the Songdowon International Children's Camp.
Equipped with all educational facilities, the conservatory is a seat of learning music rare to be found in any other countries of the world.
I pay tribute to Kim Jong Il who has such noble view on the younger generation as sparing nothing for them.
The DPRK will become richer and more powerful in the future under his leadership.

Present there on invitation were Secretary of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea Choe Thae Bok, Minister of Foreign Trade Rim Kyong Man, Minister of Education Kim Yong Jin who is chairman of the Korea-Cuba Solidarity Committee, Acting Chairman of the Korean Committee for Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries Mun Jae Chol, Vice-Minister of the People's Armed Forces Pak Jae Gyong, Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs Choe Su Hon, Vice-Chairman of the Korean Physical Culture and Sports Guidance Commission Son Kwang Ho and officials concerned.

U.S. Denounced for Sparking Global Arms Race
Pyongyang, July 31 (KCNA) -- The United States is the world's biggest possessor of missiles and nukes and exposed to no military threat. It, however, is working more desperately to launch a new war of aggression, while speeding up its arms buildup, etc.
Rodong Sinmun today observes this in a signed commentary.
It goes on:
The U.S. arms buildup is sparking a new arms race worldwide.
The policy of strength is the basic state policy of the U.S. The arms buildup escalated by it under the pretext of coping with what it called a "new challenge" is aimed to beat its rivals and hold military supremacy. In other word, it is intended to realize its ambition to dominate the world by exercising high-handed military power. To this end, it is pushing ahead with the arms buildup and straining the situation under the signboard of coping with a "new threat" and "new challenge."
Those countries with their sovereignty being exposed to the grave threat by the U.S. are channeling great efforts into bolstering their military power. If a country is to beat back U.S. aggression, it should have in place military means strong enough to cope with it. Many counties are, therefore, increasing investment in the field of national defence. Now dozens of countries are keen to have access to nukes worldwide. This fact alone clearly indicates that the U.S. arms buildup is sparking a new arms race, a nuclear arms race.
With nothing can the U.S. hide its true colors as a chieftain of the global arms race. The U.S. would be well advised to stop the adventurous arms buildup and moves to provoke a war swimming against the trend of the times.
Papers Hail Successful Election to Local Power Bodies
Pyongyang, July 31 (KCNA) -- Papers today editorially hail the successful holding of the election of the deputies to the provincial (municipality directly under central authority), city (district) and county people's assemblies of the DPRK amid high political enthusiasm of all people in the DPRK.
Kim Jong Il participated in the election of deputies to the local power bodies together with farmers of the Chusang Co-op Farm in Hamju County, South Hamgyong Province, greatly encouraging the voters across the country, papers note, and go on:
99.82 percent of all the registered voters participated in voting and 100 percent of them voted for the candidates for deputies registered. This is a manifestation of the firm support and profound trust of all people in the socialist government in the DPRK under the Songun leadership of Kim Jong Il.
Rodong Sinmun says that this election fully demonstrated the firm confidence and will of the Workers' Party of Korea and the DPRK people to eternally hold President Kim Il Sung in high esteem as the father of the nation and the eternal sun of Juche and bring about a decisive turn in building a great prosperous powerful socialist nation under the Songun leadership of Kim Jong Il and the might of the single-minded unity of the revolutionary ranks and advantages of the socialist system in the DPRK. This is the most shining success made by the election.
The election strikingly demonstrated the fixed will of the people to defend and glorify the Korean-style socialism to the last.
It helped lay a solid foundation for further increasing the function and role of the DPRK government as required by the Songun era.
The editorial calls for achieving a new leap forward in the drive for building a socialist economic power by maintaining an uninterrupted surge in the revolutionary spirit that has grown stronger through this election.
It goes on:
It is essential to thoroughly ensure the Songun leadership of Kim Jong Il over the building of the government and its activities.
The immortal exploits performed by Kim Jong Il in the building of the government in the course of the Songun revolution should be defended and glorified to the last.
It is necessary to give full play to the advantages of Korean-style socialism in all fields.
An all-out charge should be waged for the building of an economic power in the revolutionary soldier spirit and the spirit of Thaechon.
Rodong Sinmun on WPK's Songun Politics
Pyongyang, July 31 (KCNA) -- Songun politics pursued by the Workers' Party of Korea fully incorporates the steadfast faith in independence, stout-hearted grit, unswerving political decision and distinguished political ability of Kim Jong Il, says Rodong Sinmun in an article Tuesday.
The DPRK's high dignity and authority are immediately his unquestioned authority and all the victories and epoch-making changes are historical miracles wrought by his Songun politics, notes the author of the article, and goes on:
The DPRK has been throwing its rays as a dignified independent power century after century. This is unthinkable apart from Songun politics of Kim Jong Il.
The WPK's Songun politics is one resolutely safeguarding the sovereignty and dignity of the country and the nation.
Regarding it as the paramount issue of principle for defending the supreme interests of the state and the basic interests of the revolution to safeguard the sovereignty and dignity of the country and the nation, this policy relentlessly strikes back any attempt to provoke or infringe upon the sovereignty and dignity of the DPRK, without the slightest concession and compromise.
Songun is, immediately, independence and dignity. It is owing to the great Songun politics that no one dares provoke the dignity of the DPRK and the Korean nation.
The WPK's Songun politics is the one solving all the problems arising in the revolution and construction in its own way.
Basing itself on the principle of independence, the WPK decisively rejects the interference and pressure of any outsiders and resolves all the questions arising in the revolution and construction in its own way in conformity with the interests of the Korean revolution and the situation of the country, not wedded to any ready-made theory and formula. This is why the WPK's Songun politics is the most authoritative and viable politics.
The WPK gives a steadfast continuity to independence in the external relations, too.
It resolves all the problems arising in external relations fairly and squarely in accordance with its opinion and will. In the international arena, the DPRK pushes through its intention, saying what it wants to say, neither reading other's face nor bound by any fetters.
Songun politics of the WPK is the most steadfast politics of independence which makes it possible to highly display the dignity of the nation and bring only brilliant victories.
Imperialists' Disintegration Strategy Assailed
Pyongyang, July 31 (KCNA) -- The countries and peoples struggling for independence should clearly see through the reactionary nature and danger of the imperialists' moves to disorganize them from within and cope with these moves with sharp vigilance today when the imperialists are still persisting in them, urges Rodong Sinmun in a signed article Tuesday, which reads in part:
The imperialists are getting more desperate in their attempts to establish their domination over and commit looting in the anti-imperialist independent countries and those situated at strategic vantages.
It is a hackneyed strategy of the imperialists to disintegrate the progressive countries from within. They run the whole gamut of means and ways to apply this strategy against the anti-imperialist independent countries. They resort to an extensive smear campaign and false propaganda against the political systems, policies and leadership of those countries which do not meekly obey them in an effort to whittle away confidence in the leadership. And they employ non-governmental organizations to give money to ideologically wavering people so they may blight society, violating the state law and orders.
What is typical of this strategy these days is to drive a wedge between political forces in order to divide them and set them at each other's throats. These maneuvers of the imperialists give rise to disputes between political forces and complicated situation in no small number of countries.
The imperialists also resort to the stratagem of sowing the seed of discord and creating antagonism between different nationalities, races and religious sects under one state system for their internal disintegration.
There will be grave consequences if high vigilance is not maintained against the imperialists' moves to disorganize other countries from within and they are not thwarted in advance. Former socialist countries collapsed because their peoples were fooled by the imperialists' disintegration strategy.

Over 150 Cases of Aerial Espionage Committed against DPRK in July
Pyongyang, July 31 (KCNA) -- The U.S. imperialists and the south Korean forces committed more than 150 cases of aerial espionage against the DPRK in July by mobilizing strategic and tactical reconnaissance planes with different missions, according to a military source.
On July 30 a U-2 made a shuttle flight from the east to the west for a long time to perpetrate electronic reconnaissance and photographing of the overall area of the DPRK.
An overseas-based E-3 repeatedly flew in the air over south Korea to commit madcap aerial espionage against the targets in the depth of the DPRK from July 24 to 26, while commanding air corps involved in the exercises for close air support and support to the ground.
On July 5 and 18 an EP-3 was busy flying in the air above the east and west coasts of the DPRK to spy on the important targets of the DPRK along the forefront and seabed of the East and West seas.
The U.S. imperialists and the south Korean forces flew several tactical reconnaissance planes almost every day to spy on the areas along the front and coastal areas of the DPRK. 8 planes were involved on July 13 and 6 on July 12 and 27 each and 5 on July 10 and 26 each.
Japanese Authorities' Suppression of Koreans in Japan under Fire
Pyongyang, July 31 (KCNA) -- The Japanese authorities' suppression of Koreans is a grave racial discrimination and worst human rights abuse wantonly violating the major international human rights regulations including the UN Charter and the World Declaration of Human Rights.
A DPRK delegate said this addressing the plenary session of the UN General Assembly on July 24.
Referring to the fact that the issue related to the Japanese authorities' suppression of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon) and Koreans in Japan has been brought for discussion at the UN, he re-clarified the DPRK's stand on the issue.
Noting that the DPRK was compelled to propose discussing a supplementary item at the UN General Assembly at its final phase because the Japanese authorities' crackdown upon the Koreans in Japan and their organization has reached an intolerable reckless phase, he cited concrete facts to prove it.
The DPRK will use all media of the UN to continue accusing Japan till it ceases its politically motivated moves to destroy Chongryon and crack down upon the Koreans in Japan, regardless of what sort of resolution is produced by the session, he declared.
Kim Jong Il Inspects Sub-Unit of KPA
Pyongyang, July 31 (KCNA) -- General Secretary Kim Jong Il inspected a sub-unit of KPA Unit 4318.
He acquainted himself with the sub-unit's performance of duty before looking round the outside and inside of the new barracks.
Going round the cozy barracks and different facilities kept neat and tidy, he expressed great satisfaction over the successful construction of the modern barracks and extended thanks to the servicepersons who took part in it.
Noting that soldiers of the sub-unit built the barracks by their own efforts by actively tapping and using locally available materials, he said that it is the brilliant fruition of the spirit of self-reliance and noble patriotism displayed by the army of the DPRK.
He took deep care of the soldiers' service and living, while making the rounds of the education room, bed-room, mess hall, wash-cum-bath house, non-staple food store, outdoor resting place, barn and greenhouse and other places.
He highly praised the commanding officers and soldiers of the sub-unit for having spruced up the inside and outside of the barracks and successfully built modern entertainment, educational and supply service facilities by their concerted efforts.
Our army has brought a radical change not only in the ideological and moral traits and combat and political training but in all other fields including its appearance as regular forces and management of the unit in the great era of Songun, thus performing a vanguard role as the main driving force for the revolution, he said, adding that this precious exploit performed by the heroic KPA provides a sure guarantee for the victory of the Juche-oriented revolution.
He had a photo session with the servicepersons of the sub-unit.
He was accompanied by Hwang Pyong So and Kim Sung Yon, vice department directors of the WPK Central Committee.
