Projected U.S. War Exercises Denounced in S. Korea
Pyongyang, August 14 (KCNA) -- The South Headquarters of the National Alliance of Youth and Students for the Country's Reunification (Pomchonghakryon) reportedly issued a statement on August 9 denouncing the projected reckless war exercises of the U.S.
Accusing the U.S. and south Korean bellicose forces of formally announcing their plan to stage large-scale "Ulji Focus Lens" joint military exercises in south Korea from August 20 to 31, the statement termed them dangerous moves for a war of aggression, pursuant to the U.S. strategy of preemptive strike to stifle the north by mobilizing all types of ultra modern war hardware.
These days the U.S. is going to stage the above-said war maneuvers in south Korea again despite the fact that points agreed upon at the six-party talks for the denuclearization and stability on the Korean Peninsula are being implemented, the statement noted, adding that this is a grave challenge to the peace-loving Korean nation.
The statement said that the U.S. should roll back at once its scenario for a war against the north, though belatedly, if it truly wants the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.

The visitors had a photograph taken before the old home.
Getting on the top of Mt. Paektu, the holy mountain of revolution, they were struck with wonders at the sight of the chain of peaks towering with grandeur surrounding the clean Lake Chon like a wall, the Paektu forests spreading far and wide and mountain ranges stretching endlessly.

Attending there were members of political parties and civic and public organizations including the Democratic Labor Party and the People for Achieving Peace and Reunification.
Speakers at the rally noted that the United States was these days taking counsel to launch a new, tougher military operation under the pretext of "rescuing" south Korean civilians abducted in Afghanistan.
They denounced this as a despicable ruse to justify "the war on terrorism" in return for the death of the south Korean civilians.
If any unhappy thing was caused among the civilians under detention by a rash new military operation, the U.S. would be held wholly responsible, they warned.
Speakers said that if the south Korean authorities truly wanted peace in this land, they should refuse the "war alliance" with the U.S. and withdraw the dispatched unit at once.
At the end of the rally the participants started a protest.

In the holy land of revolution, the followers of the Juche idea expressed their excited feelings.

President Kim Il Sung's Victorious Leadership over Protracted Anti-Japanese War
Pyongyang, August 14 (KCNA) -- Sixty-two years have passed since Korea was liberated from the rule of the Japanese imperialists.
The Korean people are retrospecting with deep emotion undying feats performed by President Kim Il Sung in the protracted hard-fought anti-Japanese war for national liberation.
During the 20-year-long anti-Japanese war, he had to overcome manifold difficulties and trials. He, together with 18 guerrillas, broke through the encirclement by the Japanese imperialist troops on a heights of Luozigou though tens of thousands-strong National Salvation Army ran away. He, with two companies of the guerrilla army, defended Xiaowangqing guerrilla zone from the offensive of 5,000-strong enemy forces which were backed with aircrafts and guns. He launched expedition to northern Manchuria two times.
It was when the President started on his way to East Manchuria from the first expedition to North Manchuria.
He stood sentry every night, gave to his men small amount of maize allotted to him and skipped over meals with snow and commanded the fierce battles with the enemy in a hot pursuit. He at last got a chill nearby Tianqiaoling.
One morning, he scarcely came to his senses and saw only 16 exhausted guerrillas remained around him. Then a thought flashed in upon him that if they sank to their knees there, the Korean people would become the lifelong slaves of the Japanese imperialists. He wrote the words of "Song of the Anti-Japanese War" and sang the song to inspire his comrades-in-arms.
The Arduous March of the main force of the Korean People's Revolutionary Army from Nanpaizi, Mengjiang County, to Beidadingzi, Changbai County has been known as the rigorous period in the history of Korean revolution.
The guerrilla units had to fight battles over 20 times a day at maximum under the difficult condition in which the biting cold around 40 degrees C below zero coupled with starvation and contagious diseases. He commanded the Arduous March in the van for over 100 days, overcoming difficulties beyond human imagination.
His sufferings were not limited only to physical ones.
He was bereaved of his beloved parents in an alien land, parted with younger brothers and lost his dear soldiers on the road of the revolution.
He saved the revolution from crisis when the struggle against "Minsaengdan" swept over the land of East Manchuria, a great difficulty cropped up in the efforts for realizing the anti-Japanese united front with Chinese army and "Soviet enthusiasm," the "principle of one party for one country" and Expedition to Rehe were raised.
Many years after, the President recollected with deep emotion that the responsibility for the revolution did not make him the vanquished and straggler of the revolution but victor, so as to keep him upholding the banner of anti-Japanese struggle.

KCNA Terms Abe Political Greenhorn
Pyongyang, August 14 (KCNA) -- Any rash act on the part of the chief executive of a country only brings shame to it.
Abe, now finding himself in a crisis due to his party's defeat in the recent House of Councilors election, is working hard to stay in power while trying to calm down the angry people with such rhetoric as "building a new state" and "re-starting from the very beginning."
This rash deed can be done only by such political greenhorn as Abe lost to all sense of decency.
A man is bound to be ostracized by his people when he fools them.
In a word, Abe suffered such miserable defeat as he followed hypocritical politics.
He mocked at his people and brought state affairs to failure, while imbuing his people with militarism and xenophobia under the pretext of "threat" from outside. The case of missing pension records and other scandals are an inevitable result of his misrule.
If Abe wishes to become a genuine statesman who thinks of building a new country, true to the will of his people, he should step down of his own accord, as strongly demanded by them.
Nevertheless, he is still clinging to a gimmick, far from drawing a lesson from the rebuff he met from his people.
This proves that he is a wicked statesman blinded with the greed for power.
It is a shame and a cause of social trouble for Japan to let such a petty guy insist on remaining in the prime minister's office, asserting "faith" and "will."
The situation has already turned unfavorable to him. No wonder, voices demanding his resignation are heard not only from Japan but from the United States, its senior ally.
It is not wise to insist only on his assertions, refusing to face up to the trend of the times.
Abe would be well advised not to seek a lucky chance, keen on procrastination.
