Pak Ui Chun Meets Foreign Ambassadors
Pyongyang, August 27 (KCNA) -- DPRK Foreign Minister Pak Ui Chun Monday separately met and conversed with new German Ambassador to the DPRK Thomas Schafer who paid a courtesy call on him and Vietnamese Ambassador to the DPRK Phan Trong Thai who paid a farewell call on him.
Performance of "Arirang" Suspended
Pyongyang, August 27 (KCNA) -- The grand gymnastic and artistic performance "Arirang" which was resumed on August 1 was suspended for the time being due to the unexpected torrential rain and flood damage.
It has now become hard to continue the performance as working people in different parts of the country are all out to recover from the flood damage these days.
The performance is expected to be staged again after the flood damage is cleared away.
80th Anniversary of Young Communist League of Korea Marked
Pyongyang, August 27 (KCNA) -- A national meeting took place at the People's Palace of Culture on Monday to mark the 80th anniversary of the Young Communist League of Korea organized by President Kim Il Sung.
Present there were senior officials of the party, the army and the state, officials of party and armed forces bodies and the fields of science, education, culture and arts, public health and media, officials of the Kim Il Sung Socialist Youth League and youths and students in Pyongyang.
Secretary of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea Kim Ki Nam made a report there.
He said that Kim Il Sung is the founder and builder of the youth league in the DPRK and great leader who gave genuine origin to the youth movement of Juche and wisely led it along the road of victory.
He went on:
The President founded the Young Communist League of Korea on August 28, Juche 16 (1927) with core members of the Anti-Imperialist Youth League of Korea brought up by himself and young revolutionaries trained and tested through different revolutionary organizations.
The formation of the league made it possible to establish the unified leadership of the President over the overall Korean revolution and helped the revolutionary cause of Juche and the youth movement rooted in the Down-With-Imperialism Union make steady progress, having a powerful vanguard organization which has firmly united revolutionary young core elements.
It was the immortal exploit performed by the league for the country and the nation and the revolution that it held the President in high esteem as the sun of the nation and a central figure for unity and leadership over the Korean revolution.
His original idea of giving importance to the youth has been successfully carried forward and developed by Kim Jong Il, peerless illustrious commander of Songun.
The proclamation of the Kim Il Sung Socialist Youth League was the brilliant fruition of the wise leadership and far-reaching plan of Kim Jong Il to further strengthen and develop the youth movement in Korea which was started and led by the President and glorify the youth league as an eternal youth organization of the President and the party.
The WPK took the historical measure of instituting August 28, the foundation day of the Young Communist League of Korea, as the Day of Youth.
This crystallized Kim Jong Il's idea of giving importance to the youth and his view on the younger generation as he is possessed of love for young people and trust in them as his inborn disposition and reflected his strong hope that the young people would inherit the glorious history and tradition of the youth movement in Korea and successfully carry forward generation after generation and accomplish the revolutionary cause of Juche which started from Mt. Paektu.
The reporter called on all the young people to bear in mind the Songun revolutionary line of the WPK as immutable truth, firmly arm themselves with the Party's Juche idea, Songun revolutionary idea and thus become ardent adherents to the idea and its steadfast champions and implementers who think and act as required by the Songun idea.
The reporter underscored the need for the young people to take the lead in implementing the tasks of giving importance to the nation, defending peace and achieving unity under the banner of the historic June 15 North-South Joint Declaration, fully support the young Koreans in Japan in their courageous struggle against the Japanese reactionaries hell-bent on the moves against the DPRK and the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan and boost the solidarity with world progressive young people, guided by the idea of independence, peace and friendship.
Anniversary of YCLK Observed
Pyongyang, August 27 (KCNA) -- The Korean youth will as ever creditably carry out their mission and duty they assumed before the times and the revolution and eternally glorify the proud history and tradition of the Korean youth movement, holding aloft the banner of Songun.

The Korean youth are the proud youth as they have created a history of shining victories in the Songun revolution under the steersmanship of the Workers' Party of Korea and the leader.
The glorious path covered by the Korean youth movement under the banner of Songun is the history in which the ideas and politics of President Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il which call for attaching importance to the youth have triumphed.
The Korean youth movement pioneered and led by Kim Il Sung has greeted a new heyday in its development under the leadership of Kim Jong Il.
Kim Jong Il's politics of attaching importance to the youth is based on the original political philosophy that the army represents the youth and the Songun revolution can make a victorious advance and can be crowned with victory only when the youth are fully prepared and their role is increased. The designation of the Kim Il Sung Socialist Youth League going by the august name of the President and its flag bearing his noble image are the symbols of the WPK's idea and politics of giving importance to the youth. It is the brilliant fruition of Kim Jong Il's idea and politics of giving importance to the youth that the tradition of the single-minded unity of the Songun revolution has been given steady continuity and the Korean People's Army is demonstrating its invincible might and an uninterrupted surge is brought about on all the fronts of building a great prosperous powerful nation.
The Korean youth made a breakthrough towards the building of a great prosperous powerful nation by building such gigantic structures as the Young Hero Motorway, the Kwangmyongsong Saltern and large power stations in the difficult period. This was a miracle which could be worked only by the Korean youth who are struggling in the revolutionary soldier spirit.
A rich and powerful country and the worthwhile life and future of the Korean youth would have been unthinkable without Songun. The road of Juche, the road of Songun, is the only way the Korean youth should follow at all times.
Rodong Sinmun Blasts Japanese Reactionaries' Moves to Change Geographical Names of Korea into Japanese
Pyongyang, August 27 (KCNA) -- The Japanese reactionaries are working hard to change the name of Korean sea and geographical names of Tok Islet and seabeds of Korea into Japanese. But Japan's shameless ambition for territorial expansion can never come true.
Rodong Sinmun Sunday observed this in a signed article.

The Japanese reactionaries have recently again claimed Tok Islet is part of "Japan's territory" in the "2007 defense white paper." Timed to coincide with this, they are working hard to enact the "Basic Law of the Sea" and enforce it.
The East Sea of Korea was marked as "Sea of Japan" after the Japanese imperialists occupied Korea and converted it into their colony at the beginning of the 20th century.
The international community is becoming increasingly assertive that the sea east of Korea be called "East Sea" or "Sea of Korea", "East Sea of Korea," the name given afterwards, as the Koreans have long called so and they are widely known to different countries.
Much upset by this, the Japanese reactionaries have recently become desperate in their machinations to keep "Sea of Japan" marked on maps by having it recognized by the international community.
They have also changed the name of the Straits of Korea recognized by the international community into Japanese name of "Tsushima Straits."
Japan is busy publicizing before the international community that the designation of Tok Islet and the issue of "dominium" over it have become a dispute.
It has been proved by history and law that Tok Islet belongs to Korea and so this object is indisputable.
The Japanese reactionaries are insisting that the topographical names of the seabeds belonging to the continental shelves of Korea be marked on maps as part of their basins and mountain ranges with Japanese names as they please.
Japan is planning to wind up the survey and measurement of the continental shelves of the sea around it before May 2009 under the signboard of "survey of continental shelf" in a bid to seize in real earnest the continental shelves and their resources claimed by Korea and neighboring countries belong to the territorial waters in the new century. Japan is contemplating including the continental shelf of Korea in the waters to be surveyed and presenting data on the survey of the continental shelf based on the results of its survey and measurements and its map to the UN Commission on the Limits of Continental Shelf in a bid to get its approval before any others. It is the cunning calculation of Japan that if the map of the continental shelf marked with Japanese names is internationally recognized, it can provide it with an international environment favorable for usurping vast areas of continental shelves of the neighboring countries including Korea.
The Japanese reactionaries drew the maritime boundary line deep inside the territorial waters of Korea including the waters off Tok Islet and got this line reflected in their "defence white paper", "youth paper on maritime security", "Map News" and other reptile media and documents before distributing them to the international community.
It admits of no argument that such behavior is a grave infringement upon the sovereignty of Korea. The above-said frantic moves stepped up by Japan by every possible means and method in a bid to bring territories and resources of other countries under its control remind one of the days when the Japanese imperialists ran amuck to invade Korea and the rest of Asia.
Rodong Sinmun Calls for Putting Spurs to Movement for National Reunification
Pyongyang, August 27 (KCNA) -- All Koreans in the north and the south and overseas will surely build a prosperous and powerful reunified country on this land of three thousand-ri by displaying patriotic enthusiasm and will and putting further spurs to the movement for national reunification.

All Koreans in the north and the south and overseas are turning out as one in the movement for reunification with the will to reject the outside forces and achieve independent reunification under the uplifted banner of "By our nation itself."
The patriotism of the Koreans finds a vivid manifestation in their will to become a driving force for the movement for reunification and settle the issue of reunification by their own efforts. It is now being fully displayed in the struggle to achieve national reconciliation and unity and attain national progress by dint of great national unity. It also finds a striking manifestation in the fact that all Koreans are now waging a dynamic drive against the U.S. and war holding aloft the banner of championing peace.
The formation of the All-Korean Committee for Implementation of the June 15 Joint Declaration, an umbrella body for a nation-wide reunification movement grouping organizations and figures of different social standings in the north and the south and overseas, in March 2005, put the unity of the nation on a higher stage. As a result, the movement for national reunification is now making dynamic progress along the orbit of independent reunification on the basis of the unanimous aspiration and will of the fellow countrymen for reunification and their organizational solidarity.
The intensified nation-wide struggle against the U.S. and war led to firmly building the structure of the Korean nation's stand-off with the U.S. This is a clear proof that the national unity has been put on a new height.
Birthday of DPRK Observed
Pyongyang, August 27 (KCNA) --A meeting was held in India and a seminar, a film show and a photo exhibition in Egypt on Aug. 20 and 22 on the occasion of the 59th anniversary of the founding of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.
On display in the venues of the functions were photos showing the exploits President Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il performed by founding, strengthening and developing the DPRK and photos dealing with the vitality of the Songun politics.
The meeting was addressed by G. Debarajan, secretary of the Central Committee of the All-India Forward Bloc, P. Shiv Shankar, chairman of the All India Indo-Korean Friendship Association, and other figures. They said that led by Kim Il Sung, the Korean people could defeat the Japanese imperialists with arms, achieving the liberation of their country and the cause of founding the state.
They have protected the sovereignty of the country and socialism and advanced along the road of steady progress, overcoming all sorts of difficulties and trials by their own efforts with their fixed faith and will since the very day the DPRK was born, the speakers added.
Yehia Zakaria Khairullah, chairman of the Egyptian Committee for the Study of the Juche Idea, said at the seminar that Kim Il Sung is the founder of the DPRK and father of socialist Korea, noting that its national power has grown strong day by day under the wise leadership of Kim Jong Il.
Participants of the film show watched Korean film "Landscape of the country taking on more beautiful appearance under the leadership of the great General."
Meanwhile, members of the Kindia Provincial Government of Guinea visited the Kim Il Sung Institute of Agricultural Science in Guinea on Aug. 6 on the occasion of the 62nd anniversary of Korea's liberation.
Monument to Three Charters for National Reunification Associated with Undying Leadership
Pyongyang, August 27 (KCNA) -- The Monument to the Three Charters for National Reunification reflects the rock-firm will of Kim Jong Il to achieve the country's reunification at an early date and present a rich and strong nation to the people.
Paek Myong Sim, lecturer of the monument, told KCNA:
Kim Jong Il published the famous work "Let Us Carry Out the Great Leader Comrade Kim Il Sung's Instructions for National Reunification" on August 4, Juche 86 (1997). He in the work incorporated the three principles of national reunification, 10-point programme of the great unity of the whole nation and the proposal for founding the Democratic Federal Republic of Koryo advanced by President Kim Il Sung into the three charters, three pillars for national reunification.
He, who had been engaged in thinking and activities for realizing the President's instructions for national reunification, unfurled a great plan to build a monument in reflection of the aspiration and desire of the whole nation and led its construction.
He chose the site of the monument and gave important teachings regarding the construction.
He said that the monument should clearly show its content without explanation. And he indicated the direction of the formation of the monument, not in the form of tower but in the form of monument with figures as the main.
He also instructed officials that the monument should be dealt in a bold and simple method to suit its meaning and topographical feature.
He selected the President's words to be engraved on the stone monument to the latter's instructions for national reunification on the education field of the monument.
Therefore, the stone monument bears the instruction of the President that all the fellow countrymen, though they live in the north, south and overseas, should turn out in the reunification movement and all the compatriots of all strata should firmly unite as one on the principle of great national unity, irrespective of differences in thoughts, ideas, political views and religious beliefs.
KCNA Ridicules Japan's Bid to "Internationalize Abduction Issue"
Pyongyang, August 27 (KCNA) -- The "headquarters for measures to settle the abduction issue" of the Japanese government was reported to have recently worked out a plan to invite foreign media persons in a bid to let them know about the gravity of the abduction issue and put international pressure upon the DPRK.
Earlier, Japan took much pain to have the "abduction issue" included in agendas of international conferences. During the meeting of working group on energy aid Japanese negotiators blustered that Japan would not contribute anything unless progress is made in the settlement of the "abduction issue", etc.
This only aroused the derision of the international community as it is nothing but trite bullying resorted to by Japan whenever the political situation at home and abroad turned unfavorable to it.
The burlesque oft-repeated by Japan over the "abduction issue" quite contrary to the general trend of the world situation towards reconciliation is aimed at diverting elsewhere the attention of the world public.
The so-called plan of the above-said headquarters came as part of Japan's scenario to increase "international pressure" upon the DPRK.
But it is unjust and unreasonable in every sense for Japan to "internationalize the abduction issue" as it is under unavoidable historical and moral obligations to redress the crimes it committed in the past.
Japan is ill-famed for the hideous forcible drafting and abduction of many Koreans. However, it has so far left this crime-woven past unsettled. It is the height of hysteria for Japan to persistently talk about the "abduction issue," backtracking from the commitment it made as faith in the relationship with other country.
Had Japan have even an iota of political sense, it would have been wise enough to guess that the deep-rooted grudge spawned such abnormal "abduction issue" and it does not stand comparison with several abductees.
Moreover, it is a sheer folly to peddle the issue that had already found a settlement, far-fetchedly insisting that the dead be brought to life and sent back.
The above-said issue is now being hyped and festering due to the desperate moves of the right-wing conservative forces of Japan to tide over its political crisis at home and abroad. Their ruckus will only result in deteriorating the DPRK-Japan relations and tarnishing Tokyo's political image.
Japan would be well advised not to forget that its hectic diplomacy over the "abduction issue" would get it nowhere.
"Ulji Focus Lens" Assailed
Pyongyang, August 27 (KCNA) -- The Spain-based Association for Friendship with the Korean People on August 23 issued a statement in which it denounced the United States and the south Korean authorities for staging the "Ulji Focus Lens" joint military exercises.
The statement said the war game was a military provocation and a hostile act against the DPRK and a criminal act against the trend toward detente and peace on the Korean Peninsula.
The U.S. should not play hypocritical dramas with such covers as "regional stability," "peace" and "dialogue" but discard its hostile policy toward the DPRK first of all, the statement said, strongly urging the U.S. to stop at once its moves for a war against the DPRK and withdraw its aggression forces from south Korea.
It expressed support to and solidarity with the Anti-Imperialist National Democratic Front and the south Korean people in their struggle to reunify the country independently and peacefully.
Book "Korean Kimchi" Published
Pyongyang, August 27 (KCNA) -- The Industrial Publishing House of the DPRK has brought out the book "Korean Kimchi" to help pickle tasty kimchi of highly nutritive value. The book was written by Master Kim Yong Sun, 52.
The book explains in a plain language the methods of making all sorts of traditional kimchi for the winter season, kimchi for suitable time with various vegetables and edible herbs growing in different seasons and various kinds of fermented fish.
Given in the book are common knowledge one should know in making kimchi and exquisite principle of processing kimchi.
As it introduces more than 130 methods in a scientific way in detail, the book is conducive to making the people's dietary life more affluent and cultured.

Movimiento por la reunificacion de Corea
Pyongyang, 27 de agosto (ATCC) -- Todos los coreanos del Norte, el Sur y en ultramar daran mas acicate con la pasion y voluntad patrioticas al movimiento por la reunificacion de la patria y edificaran sin falta una patria reunificada y prospera en el territorio de 3 mil ries (1200 kilometros).

Todos los coreanos se levantan como un solo hombre en el movimiento por la reunificacion con la voluntad de rechazar a las fuerzas foraneas y lograr la reunificacion independiente bajo la bandera de "entre nosotros, los connacionales".
El patriotismo de la nacion coreana se manifiesta patentemente en su determinacion de solucionar con sus propias fuerzas el problema de reunificacion siendo el sujeto del movimiento en cuestion y en su lucha por lograr la reconciliacion y la cohesion nacionales y el desarrollo nacional con la fuerza de la gran unidad nacional.
Igualmente, se refleja claramente en la dinamica lucha antiyanqui y antibelica, que ella despliega bajo la bandera de defensa de la paz.
En marzo de 2005 fue organizado el comite conjunto nacional para la ejecucion de la Declaracion Conjunta del 15 de Junio como organizacion pannacional del movimiento por la reunificacion que incorpora ampliamente a las entidades y personalidades de distintos sectores del Norte, el Sur y ultramar. De esta manera, la unidad nacional llego a una etapa mas alta y el citado movimiento avanza con vigor por la orbita de reunificacion independiente basandose en la unanime aspiracion y voluntad de toda la nacion de reunificar el pais y su solidaridad organizativa.
De otro lado, como resultado de la lucha pannacional de caracter antiyanqui y antibelico se dio la solida estructura de confrontacion la nacion coreana vs. EE.UU., lo cual constata que la unidad nacional se situo en una etapa mas alta.
AAC denuncia ejercicio militar EE.UU.-Sur de Corea
Pyongyang, 27 de agosto (ATCC) -- La Asociacion de Amistad con Corea, que tiene su sede en Espana, publico el dia 23 una declaracion contra el ejercicio militar conjunto "Ulji Focus Lens" Estados Unidos-Sur de Corea.
El documento senala que esa maniobra resulta una provocacion militar y acto de hostilidad a la Republica Popular Democratica de Corea y una accion criminal que desafia a la corriente del alivio de tension y paz de la Peninsula Coreana.
Apunta que EE.UU. debe dejar de recurrir a sus farsas bajo vistosos rotulos de "estabilidad regional", "paz" y "dialogo" y abandonar primero su politica de hostilidad a Corea y anade que tiene que parar ahora mismo sus maniobras belicas anti-RPDC y retirar a sus tropas agresoras del Sur de Corea.
La nota expresa finalmente el apoyo y solidaridad con la lucha del Frente Democratico Nacional Antiimperialista y los habitantes surcoreanos por reunificar el pais de modo independiente y por via pacifica.
Rodong Sinmun condena complots de Japon de falsificar nombre de lugares
Pyongyang, 27 de agosto (ATCC) -- Los reaccionarios japoneses falsifican al estilo japones los nombres de los mares, la isla Tok y del fondo de mar de Corea. Pero, la descarada ambicion de Japon para la expansion territorial no podra realizarse jamas.
Asi senala el periodico Rodong Sinmun en un articulo individual del dia 26 y continua:
En los ultimos dias, en la "carta blanca de defensa para 2007" los reaccionarios japoneses volvieron a insistir en que la isla Tok es "territorio de Japon". Al mismo tiempo, tratan de fraguar y poner en vigor la "Ley principal del mar".
El nombre del "Mar Este de Corea" se disfrazo bruscamente de "Mar de Japon" a principios del siglo XX cuando los imperialistas japoneses ocuparon a Corea y la convirtieron en colonia.
Hoy, en la sociedad internacional prevalece la insistencia en anotarlo como "Mar Este", o "Mar de Corea" y "Mar Este de Corea" que desde antiguedades la nacion coreana y varios paises del mundo denominaron.
Para frenar esta tendencia general los reaccionarios japoneses maniobran para lograr que la sociedad internacional reconozca el nombre del "Mar de Japon".
Ellos tratan de cambiar por el "estrecho de Tsushima" tambien el Estrecho de Corea reconocido por la sociedad internacional.
Por otra parte, pretenden describir el nombre de la isla Tok y el "derecho a la posesion de esta" como objetos litigiosos en la sociedad internacional.
Tanto en lo historico como en lo juridico es bien claro que la isla Tok es parte del territorio coreano. Por tanto, ella no puede ser objeto de conflicto.
Al anotar los nombres topograficos del fondo del mar correspondiente a la plataforma continental de nuestro pais los reaccionarios japoneses anotan denominaciones japonesas en el mapa.
En el nuevo siglo con el objetivo de saquear el zocalo continental y sus recursos pertenecientes a la esfera de posesion de Corea y otros paises perifericos, tratan de terminar antes de mayo de 2009 la investigacion y la medicion de la plataforma continental de los mares contornos de Japon bajo el pretexto de la "investigacion de la plataforma continental".
Y tienden a incluir hasta la plataforma continental de Corea en el objeto de la investigacion arriba mencionada y presentar al Comite de Demarcacion de Plataformas Continentales de la ONU los datos y mapas obtenidos a base de sus trabajos realizados para recibir antes que nadie la aprobacion de este organismo.
Japon cree que de recibir el reconocimiento internacional de ese mapa en que sean anotados los fondos del mar al estilo japones, puede preparar un ambiente internacional para saquear mayor parte de los zocalos continentales de Corea y otros paises perifericos.
Los reaccionarios islenos establecen la linea de limite del mar en las profundidades de las aguas jurisdiccionales de Corea inclusive la isla Tok y tratan de convencer a la sociedad internacional a traves de las publicaciones venales y otros documentos como "Carta blanca de defensa", el "periodico juventud de seguridad maritima" y "Noticias de mapas".
Es indiscutible que tales actos devienen una grave violacion a la soberania de Corea.
Tales maniobras arriba mencionadas hacen recordar aquel periodo en que los imperialistas japoneses actuaban freneticamente para agredir a Corea y el continente asiatico.
Jovenes, poderosa vanguardia de la revolucion del Songun
Pyongyang, 27 de agosto (ATCC) -- En el futuro tambien, bajo la bandera del Songun (priorizacion militar) los jovenes coreanos cumpliran satisfactoriamente su mision y deber asumidos ante la epoca y la revolucion y glorificaran para siempre la orgullosa historia y tradicion del movimiento juvenil de Corea.
Asi senala el periodico Rodong Sinmun en un articulo publicado el dia 27 con motivo del 80o aniversario de la fundacion de la Union de la Juventud Comunista de Corea.
Los jovenes coreanos han venido creando la historia de orgullosas victorias de la revolucion del Songun bajo la direccion del Partido y el Lider, afirman los co-autores del articulo y prosiguen:
La gloriosa historia del movimiento juvenil coreano transcurrida bajo la bandera del Songun es la trayectoria victoriosa de la idea y la politica del Presidente Kim Il Sung y el Dirigente Kim Jong Il de conceder importancia a la juventud.
Ese movimiento iniciado y conducido por el Presidente acogio una nueva era de prosperidad de su desarrollo bajo la guia del Dirigente.
La politica del Dirigente de dar importancia a los jovenes se basa en la original filosofia politica, segun la cual el ejercito es precisamente la juventud y la revolucion del Songun podra avanzar victoriosamente y completarse con exito solo cuando los jovenes se preparen firmemente y eleven su papel.
La union de la juventud de Corea denominada con el nombre del Presidente y su bandera con la efigie de este simbolizan la idea y politica del Partido del Trabajo de Corea de dar importancia a los jovenes.
Hoy en dia, gracias a ellas, se mantiene firmemente la tradicion de la unidad monolitica de la revolucion del Songun, el Ejercito Popular de Corea exalta su poderio invencible y se logra un incesante ascenso en todos los frentes de la construccion de una gran potencia prospera.
En el periodo tan dificil, los jovenes levantaron grandes creaciones como la Carretera Chongnyonyongung, la Salina Kwangmyongsong y las plantas electricas de gran envergadura abriendo la brecha de la construccion de una gran potencia prospera. Esto deviene el milagro que pueden crear solo los jovenes coreanos que viven con el espiritu revolucionario de los militares.
Sin el Songun no habra una patria prospera ni la digna vida ni el futuro de los jovenes.
Por lo tanto, los jovenes coreanos deben avanzar siempre por el camino del Juche y el del Songun.
