Philippine Organizations Reiterate Their Solidarity with Korean People
Pyongyang, August 28 (KCNA) -- 8 organizations of Philippines including the Philippines Solidarity Committee for Peace and Reunification on the Korean Peninsula, the Philippines-DPRK Friendship Society and the Philippines Peasants' Movement made public a joint statement on Aug. 15 on the occasion of the 62nd anniversary of Korea's liberation.
The statement recalled that President Kim Il Sung led the 20 year-long arduous anti-Japanese revolutionary struggle to victory, enabling the Korean people to greet the day of Korea's liberation and successfully promote the cause of building a new country, adding that the U.S. provoked a war of aggression against the DPRK, but it sustained a bitter defeat and was compelled to sign the armistice agreement.
The statement accused Japan of working hard to distort its history, militarize itself and realize overseas expansion and intensifying the suppression of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan and Koreans in Japan and tightening its sanctions against the DPRK, while evading its responsibility for its past crimes.
The statement called upon the world progressive people to fully support the Korean people in their struggle for peace and reunification of the country.

Anniversary of YCLK and Day of Youth Marked
Pyongyang, August 28 (KCNA) -- Youths in different parts of the country significantly marked the 80th anniversary of the Young Communist League of Korea and the Day of Youth on Tuesday.
Kim Yong Nam, Kim Yong Il, Choe Thae Bok, Kim Jung Rin, Kim Ki Nam and Choe Yong Rim and officials of ministries, national institutions, local party and power organs and working people's organizations visited Kim Il Sung University, the Pyongyang Thermal-Power Complex, the Migok Co-op Farm in Sariwon and other units to congratulate youths on the occasions.
They together with youths laid floral baskets and bouquets before the statues of President Kim Il Sung and the monuments to the revolutionary histories of the three generals of Mt. Paektu and paid tribute to them.
They looked round rooms for the education in the revolutionary history and rooms dedicated to the histories of the relevant units.
Senior officials of the Party and the state went round production sites and campuses and met officials of the youth league, working youths and students who have distinguished themselves in their work to hear stories about the successes and experience gained by them in the last period. Feats of Youth League in Ten-0dd Years
Pyongyang, August 28 (KCNA) -- The Kim Il Sung Socialist Youth League has increased its role and fighting power in every way in the noble struggle of the Songun era over the last ten-odd years after it assumed the august name of the sun.
The youth league organizations of all levels have carried on the education in the Juche idea and the Songun idea in various forms and ways, thus training the ranks of 5 million youths into the vanguard of devotedly defending the leader, the ranks of human bullets and bombs.
Hundreds of thousands of youths and students have made excursions to the revolutionary battle sites and revolutionary historical sites in the area of Mt. Paektu in a more than decade-long period.
The youth league organizations including primary organizations have been built up more sturdily so that at least 202,900 units have been honored with the title of Model Organization of Youth Vanguard.
Young people have joined the Korean People's Army, regarding the defence of the country as the highest manifestation of patriotism in the Songun era and the spirit of the youth in full vigor to defend Korean-style socialism is towering ever higher as the years go by.
A large number of tanks, guns, armored cars and trucks bearing the patriotic enthusiasm of the youth have been donated to the army to reinforce the revolutionary armed forces. Daily increasing are reports about beautiful deeds of helping war veterans both materially and morally and becoming permanent companions of honored disabled soldiers.
A good many young people have volunteered to such difficult fields as farms and coal and ore mines.
A total of more than 294,600 youth shock brigades have been formed through the vigorous movement of youth shock brigades sweeping all parts of the country.
In this course, the construction of over 1,390 projects including Anbyon Youth Power Station No. 2, Hungju Youth Power Station No. 2, Thaechon Youth Power Stations No. 3 and 4 and Kumjingang Hungbong Youth Power Station have been successfully completed.
More than 7,100 Youth Forests and Children's Union Forests have appeared through the brisk movement of "Care-for-the-Homeland Teams" of youths and children.
Over 6,500 students have become the winners of "Prize for Students' Scientific Pursuit" and more than 23,400 schoolers the winners of the "July 15 Top Mark Student Prize."
Hundreds of organizations and thousands of young men and women have been awarded the title of "Kim Il Sung Youth Honor Prize" and a large number of youths have been decorated with state orders in the days of the heroic endeavors in which the youth took the lead in the grand march for defence of socialism and prosperity of the country.
Edifices Shining with "Chongnyon"
Pyongyang, August 28 (KCNA) -- The young people of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea are successfully carrying on the role of vanguard and shock brigade in the labor-consuming fields of the socialist construction.
Lots of edifices built in different parts of the country, which are called "Chongnyon" (youth), are associated with the devoted efforts of the Korean youth who regard to defend the leader at the cost of their lives as the whole of their life and willingly dedicate their springtime for the sake of the Party and the leader, country and the people.
They had built many edifices for the prosperity of the country in the "Arduous March" and forced march. Among them are the Anbyon Youth Power Station, Hungju Youth Power Station, Youth Hero Motorway, Hamhung City Youth Goat Farm and Yonggwang Youth Fish Farm.
The young builders completed the construction of gigantic Thaechon Youth Power Station No. 4 in several years, courageously overcoming manifold ordeals and difficulties with the spirit of mass heroism.
Kim Jong Il highly appreciated the young constructors who built a large-sized power station to be handed down to the posterity as the creator of the Thaechon spirit and let the mass media introduce "The Taeryong River Tells", a collection of poems written by them during the construction projects.

Whenever he gave field guidance to newly completed objects, he used to say that he was very happy to see the edifices which are called "Chongnyon" and highly praised the feats of young people.

80th Anniversary of YCLK Observed
Pyongyang, August 28 (KCNA) -- The eight decade-long history of the youth movement in Korea which has covered the road of victory and glory under the leadership of the Party and the leader is a proud history in which the Korean youth have exalted their honor as powerful vanguard of the Songun revolution and performed undying feats on behalf of the times and the revolution, the country and the people through their total dedication.
Rodong Sinmun Tuesday says this in an editorial dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Young Communist League of Korea.
The Korean youth are highly proud of establishing the glorious tradition of devotedly defending the leader and steadfastly carrying it forward generation after generation, the editorial notes, and goes on:
The young communists gave origin to the single-minded unity based on the spirit of devotedly defending the leader and created its glorious tradition at the dawn of the Korean revolution.
The Korean revolution started and has made a victorious advance thanks to the indomitable faith and will of the young heroes of the first generation who held President Kim Il Sung in high esteem as the central figure for unity and leadership and devotedly defended him at the cost of their lives.
The tradition of devotedly defending the leader, the tradition of the single-minded unity created in the crucible of the anti-Japanese struggle was the lifeline and tradition of the youth movement in Korea. Millions of the young people, their hearts burning with the spirit of devotedly defending the leader, united close around the Party and the leader whenever the Korean revolution faced rigorous trials including the building of a new country, the Fatherland Liberation War and the postwar rehabilitation and reconstruction. The Korean youth have shared destiny with the President and Kim Jong Il to the last. This transparent faith and will remained unshaken in the least even when socialism collapsed in several countries of the world and the imperialists got more undisguised in their moves against the DPRK. The Korean youth put up the slogan which calls for becoming 5 million human bullets and bombs devotedly defending the headquarters of the revolution in the difficult
period of the "Arduous March." It was a clear manifestation of the single-minded unity of the Korean youth which formed a harmonious whole with the leader.
The DPRK's Songun revolutionary cause will always triumph as long as there are the proud history and tradition of devotedly defending the leader and a large contingent of the young vanguard, a reliable successor to them.
The Korean youth will hold higher the banner of the anti-imperialist struggle as the revolution advances with the passage of time. They will remain unchanged in the future, too, in the steadfast spirit of anti-imperialist struggle which has been fully displayed since the start of anti-Japanese struggle.
The enthusiasm and spirit of the youth precisely mean the dynamism of the socialist construction and the surging spirit of the country. The DPRK's cause of building a great prosperous powerful nation is sure to be accomplished before long as it has such youth, powerful ranks for creation and construction.
The country and the revolution have a rosy future and Korea-style socialism is sure to always triumph as the DPRK boasts such large unit of the young vanguard sound in thinking and morality, strong in faith and full of militant spirit and enthusiasm.
U.S. Reckless Military Moves Blasted
Pyongyang, August 28 (KCNA) -- The U.S. is busy with the disturbing military moves to amass 60 percent of its navy submarine forces in the Pacific, etc.
Minju Joson Tuesday blasts these moves in a signed commentary. It goes on:
Given the fact that the DPRK is the only country in the Asia-Pacific region which is standing in military stand-off with the U.S., the recent U.S. military moves are obviously a direct military threat and provocation to the DPRK.
The U.S. is busy amassing huge war forces and staging military exercises while holding talks with the DPRK. Such behavior of the U.S. proves that it is not interested in the progress of dialogue and the settlement of any issue but only seeks to stifle the DPRK by force of arms.
This approach of the U.S. going against dialogue compels the DPRK to urgently take practical countermeasures. In this case the U.S. would be entirely to blame for the ensuing grave consequences.
The U.S. would be well advised to be aware of the gravity of the situation and behave itself.
"Ulji Focus Lens" Joint Military Exercises under Fire
Pyongyang, August 28 (KCNA) -- The "Ulji Focus Lens" joint military exercises now under way in south Korea are war maneuvers against peace in view of their nature, contents and purpose as they are designed to implement the U.S. military policy aimed to put the whole of Korea under its control and make a breakthrough towards carrying out its Asia strategy with Korea as a springboard.
Rodong Sinmun Tuesday says this in a signed article.
It is entirely attributable to the U.S. hostile policy toward the DPRK that the two sides have been technically at war on the Korean Peninsula for more than five decades, the article notes, and continues:
If the U.S. continues rushing headlong into a war, staging military exercises against the DPRK, this will entail unpredictably catastrophic consequences.
The six-party talks without the U.S. drop of its hostile policy toward the DPRK would be meaningless. This is not worth even a passing note. The U.S. is sadly mistaken if it calculates it can reap any fruit at the six-party talks without giving up its hostile policy toward the DPRK. The grave military threat posed by the U.S. to the DPRK by staging large-scale war drills in south Korea would only put the six-party talks at peril.
The U.S. would be well advised to stop its poor farce aimed at playing down or covering up the criminal nature of the DPRK-targeted war maneuvers with a veil of "peace". No sleight of hand seeking a sinister purpose can ever work on the DPRK which loves justice. The "Ulji Focus Lens" compels the DPRK to suspect the ulterior aim sought by the U.S. in its loudmouthed "negotiated settlement of issues" and "confidence-building".
Talking only will not help build confidence. Only when the U.S. gives up its hostile policy toward the DPRK, its dialogue partner, is it possible to wipe out distrust and antagonism between the DPRK and the U.S. and build confidence. Now that the U.S. keeps pursuing its hostile policy toward its dialogue partner, frantically staging war drills against it, the DPRK is left with no option but to take strong countermeasures, different from the stand for dialogue it has maintained so far. This is a legitimate exercise of its sovereign right. It is the DPRK's mode of counteraction to be ready both for dialogue and confrontation.
"Ulji Focus Lens" Flailed
Pyongyang, August 28 (KCNA) -- The editorial board of Dialog, the newspaper of the Czech Republic, issued a statement on August 23 denouncing the U.S.-south Korea "Ulji Focus Lens" joint military exercises.
The provocative "Ulji Focus Lens" joint war maneuvers being staged by the United States against the DPRK prove that its hostile policy toward the latter remains unchanged and it is attempting military provocations against the latter behind the curtain of dialogue, the statement said.
It bitterly denounced the joint military exercises as a provocation to invade the DPRK and a manifestation of the U.S. hostile policy.
It noted that the saber rattling is a challenge to the world peace-loving people desirous of the reunification of Korea and regional stability.
The statement strongly demanded the U.S. stop at once the joint military exercises escalating the tension on the Korean Peninsula and obstructing the national reconciliation of the Korean people.
U.S. and S. Korean Forces Busy with "Ulji Focus Lens"
Pyongyang, August 28 (KCNA) -- The madcap "Ulji Focus Lens" joint military exercises for aggression that were kicked off by issuing a wartime emergency mobilization order on August 20 are now under way in the land, seas and air of south Korea under the simulated conditions of an actual war, according to a military source.
On August 22 and 23 the south Korea-U.S. "Combined Forces Command" mobilized U.S. mainland-based transport reinforcements and some support battalions of the U.S. imperialist aggressor forces present in south Korea to stage an exercise of speedily transporting war equipment from the depots to the operational theatres. Meanwhile, several army corps units under the third south Korean field army were busy with the drills of carrying out their operational plans and exercises for "commando" operations and chemical warfare.
Carrier "Blue Ridge", the flagship of the U.S. 7th fleet, anchored off Phyongthaek Port on August 24 to participate in naval war exercise to be staged within the framework of the "Ulji Focus Lens." Carrier "Kitty Hawk" task force is set to get involved in it from the southern tip of Japan.
The south Korean warmongers mobilized battleships of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd fleets and other flotilla of their navy to stage naval maneuvers combined with the exercise of launching guided missiles and naval bombardment under the simulated conditions of an actual war in the waters off Sokcho, Kangrung, Phohang and Ulsan and Paekryong, Tokjok and Kyokryolbiryol islets in the East and West seas of Korea on August 21 and 23.
More than 800 fighter bombers, pursuit-assault planes, assault planes, observation planes and armed helicopters of overseas-based flying corps, the flying corps of the U.S. 7th Air Force present in south Korea, three combat squadrons of the south Korean air force and a mixed flying corps were busy with the exercises of air battle, striking targets on the ground, providing close air support and air lifting with the air above south Korea as their operational theatres on August 23 and 27.
Timed to coincide with the on-going provocative "Ulji Focus Lens," over 10 strategic and tactical reconnaissance planes of different types made shuttle flights in the air over the front area from the east to the west almost every day to spy on all areas of the DPRK.

Pyongyang, 28 de agosto (ATCC) -- En un comentario individual publicado este martes, el periodico Minju Joson condeno el sospechoso movimiento militar de Estados Unidos que intenta concentrar en el Pacifico el 60 % de los submarinos de sus fuerzas navales.
El comentarista continua:
Si se toma en cuenta que la RPDC es el unico pais en la confrontacion armada con EE.UU. en la region de Asia y el Pacifico, el ultimo movimiento militar del segundo deviene una evidente amenaza y provocacion militares contra la primera.
El procedimiento de EE.UU., que detras de la cortina del dialogo concentra colosales fuerzas belicas y despliega la maniobra militar, muestra que este imperio no esta interesado en el avance del dialogo ni en la solucion del problema sino persigue unicamente su siniestra intencion de aplastar a la RPDC por via militar.
Tales acciones de EE.UU. contrariadas al dialogo exigen a la RPDC tomar las contramedidas practicas.
EE.UU. debera asumir la responsabilidad por todas las consecuencias graves que emanen de ello.
Debe darse cuenta de la gravedad de la situacion y actuar con prudencia.
Rodong Sinmun dedica editorial al 80 aniversario de la UJCC
Pyongyang, 28 de agosto (ATCC) -- En ocasion del 80 aniversario de la fundacion de la Union de la Juventud Comunista de Corea (UJCC), el diario Rodong Sinmun publico este martes un editorial que va como sigue:
Los 80 anos del movimiento juvenil coreano, que bajo la direccion del partido y el lider recorrio el unico camino de victorias y glorias, resultan la orgullosa historia en que los jovenes coreanos exaltaron su honor como poderosa vanguardia de la revolucion del Songun (priorizacion militar) y realizaron inmortales proezas ante la epoca, la revolucion, la patria y el pueblo con el brio de la juventud.
El orgullo mas grande de la juventud coreana reside en haber creado la brillante tradicion de la defensa a ultranza al lider y dado firme continuidad a ella decada tras decada y de siglo en siglo.
La unidad monolitica basada en la defensa al lider a costa de la vida se inicio ya en la etapa inicial de la revolucion coreana por los jovenes comunistas que crearon tambien la brillante tradicion de ella.
La revolucion coreana comenzo y avanzo victoriosamente impulsada por la conviccion y voluntad de los heroes jovenes de la primera generacion revolucionaria, que enaltecieron al Presidente Kim Il Sung como el centro de la unidad y de la direccion y lo defendieron dando la vida.
Las tradiciones de defensa al lider a costa de la vida y la unidad monolitica, creadas en el fragor de la lucha antijaponesa, fueron la linea vital y la arteria del movimiento juvenil coreano.
Cada vez que se daban coyunturas dificiles de la revolucion como el periodo de la construccion de una nueva patria, la Guerra de Liberacion de la Patria y el tiempo de reconstruccion posbelica, en torno al partido y al lider estaban aglutinados firmemente millones de jovenes con el espiritu de defender al lider a costa de la vida.
La conviccion y la voluntad ferreas de la juventud coreana, que comparte hasta el final el mismo destino con su lider y su dirigente, no se aflojaron ni un comino aun cuando en varios paises del mundo se desplomo el socialismo y se tornaron mas brutales que nunca las maniobras anti-RPDC de los imperialistas.
En el periodo severo de la "Marcha penosa" los jovenes levantaron en alto la consigna de "Seamos 5 millones de bombas y balas que defienden a costa de la vida a la Direccion de la Revolucion" manifestando el poderio de si mismos unidos monoliticamente con su lider.
La causa revolucionaria del Songun siempre avanzara victoriosa gracias a la orgullosa historia y tradicion de la defensa al lider a costa de la vida y al gran contingente de vanguardias juveniles, que las continuan brillantemente.
A medida que avanza la revolucion y pasa el tiempo, los jovenes coreanos deben enarbolar la bandera de la lucha antiimperialista.
Sera invariable para siempre el firme espiritu de lucha antiimperialista de los jovenes coreanos, que se pone de pleno manifiesto desde los dias de la lucha antijaponesa.
La pasion y el vigor de la juventud devienen las fuerzas motrices de la construccion del socialismo y el aspecto animado de la patria.
Gracias a los jovenes, poderosos promotores de la creacion y la construccion, la causa de edificacion de una gran potencia prospera se cumplira sin falta en un futuro cercano.
En el gran destacamento de las vanguardias juveniles, que son sanas en lo ideo-espiritual, fuertes en fe y llenas del impetu combativo y pasion, se hallan el brillante porvenir de la patria y la revolucion y la fuente de las fuerzas del invencible socialismo al estilo coreano.
Rodong Sinmun critica invariable politica hostil de EE.UU. a Corea
Pyongyang, 28 de agosto (ATCC) -- Tanto en su caracter y contenido como en su objetivo, el simulacro militar conjunto "Ulji Focus Lens", que se desarrolla ahora en el Sur de Corea, es una maniobra belica antipacifica, ideada y ejecutada por la politica militar de Estados Unidos que trata de ocupar a toda Corea y tomarla como trampolin para abrir la brecha en la realizacion de su estrategia sobre Asia.
Asi senala el periodico Rodong Sinmun en un articulo individual del dia 28 y continua:
Durante mas de 50 anos, perdura en sentido tecnico el estado de guerra en la Peninsula Coreana, lo cual se debe enteramente a la politica hostil de EE.UU. a Corea.
Si EE.UU. no cesa de desarrollar los ejercicios militares contra la Republica Popular Democratica de Corea y sigue en el camino de la guerra, es muy posible que se produzca una imprevisible situacion catastrofica.
Las conversaciones a 6 bandas sin la revocacion de la citada politica no tienen sentido ni valen ninguna pena para la RPDC.
Sera una gran equivocacion si EE.UU. trata de lograr algun fruto en esa cita sin abandonar su politica de hostigamiento a la RPDC.
Si el imperio sigue ejerciendo una seria amenaza militar a la RPDC desplegando como ahora en el Sur de Corea los ejercicios belicos de gran envergadura, correran el peligro las mismas conversaciones.
EE.UU. no debe orquestar esa farsa para restar y encubrir el caracter criminal de esa maniobra calificandola de "pacifica".
Pues, la RPDC admite solo la justicia y no acepta nunca esas artimanas que persiguen malsanos objetivos.
El simulacro "Ulji Focus Lens" obliga a la RPDC a dudar de la veracidad de las palabras de EE.UU. como la "solucion del problema mediante el dialogo" y el "establecimiento de la confianza".
La confianza no se logra con la palabra.
Solo cuando EE.UU. abandone su politica hostil a Corea, su contraparte del dialogo, se desvaneceran la desconfianza y el sentimiento conflictivo y se establecera la confianza entre ambas partes.
Ya que EE.UU. persigue la politica hostil desarrollando desesperadamente los ejercicios belicos contra el interlocutor del dialogo, la RPDC se ve obligada a tomar fuertes contramedidas aparte de su posicion al dialogo en que se mantiene hasta la fecha.
Esto deviene el ejercicio de sus derechos legitimos y soberanos.
El modo de responder de la RPDC consiste en prepararse tanto para el dialogo como para la confrontacion.
Trayectoria de ultimos 10 anos de la UJS
Pyongyang, 28 de agosto (ATCC) -- Durante mas de 10 anos de su sagrada lucha en la actual epoca del Songun (priorizacion militar), desde cuando la union de la juventud coreana se denomino con el nombre del Sol (actualmente la Union de la Juventud Socialista Kim Il Sung - simplemente UJS), ella fortalecio por todos los medios su papel y combatividad.
En las organizaciones a todos los niveles de esa entidad juvenil se desplego de diversas formas y metodos la educacion de la idea Juche y la del Songun, de manera que 5 millones de jovenes se formaran como el destacamento de vanguardias y de bombas y balas, que defiende a costa de la vida a su lider.
Durante esos 10 anos, cientos de miles de jovenes y ninos escolares recorrieron los lugares de combate revolucionario de la zona del monte Paektu y los otros historicos de la revolucion.
Se consolidaron con mas firmeza las organizaciones de la union juvenil como las de base y mas de 202 mil 900 unidades ganaron el titulo de la entidad ejemplar de la vanguardia juvenil.
Los jovenes se alistaron al ejercito popular considerando la defensa de la patria como el maximo patriotismo de la epoca del Songun y se redobla cada dia mas el impetu de ellos de salvaguardar el socialismo al estilo coreano.
En tanto, muchos tanques, canones, carros blindados y camiones, productos del patriotismo de los jovenes, contribuyeron al fortalecimiento de las fuerzas armadas revolucionarias.
Por otra parte, se reportan cada dia mas los hechos loables de la ayuda material y espiritual a los veteranos de guerra y del casamiento con los ex militares heridos de honor.
Numerosos jovenes acudieron voluntariamente a los sectores dificiles como el campo, las minas y las mismas del carbon.
Se desplego activamente por doquier del pais el movimiento de brigada juvenil y por consiguiente, se organizaron mas de 294 mil 600 brigadas juveniles.
En esa digna lucha terminaron exitosamente mas de mil 390 obras denominadas con la palabra "juventud", inclusive cientos de plantas electricas como la Central Hidroelectrica Juventud No. 2 de Anbyon, la Central Hidroelectrica Juventud No. 2 de Hungju, las Centrales Hidroelectricas Juventud No.3 y 4 de Thaechon, la Central Hidroelectrica Juventud Hungbong del rio Kumjin.
Adquirieron vigorosidad las actividades de la Guardia de Proteccion de Tierra Natal de los jovenes y ninos escolares y se crearon mas de 7 mil 100 bosques de la juventud y de la Union de Ninos.
Mas de 6 mil 500 estudiantes jovenes fueron laureados con el "premio de investigacion cientifica estudiantil" y mas de 23 mil 400 alumnos recibieron el "premio de sobresaliente 15 de julio".
En esos dias de lucha heroica, en que los jovenes marcharon en la delantera de la gran marcha para la defensa del socialismo y la prosperidad de la patria, centenares de entidades y miles de jovenes recibieron el "Premio de Honor Juvenil Kim Il Sung" y muchos otros se coronaron con condecoraciones estatales.
