Yang Hyong Sop Meets Chinese Delegation
Pyongyang, September 6 (KCNA) -- Yang Hyong Sop, vice-president of the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly, met and had a friendly talk with the Chinese government cultural delegation led by Vice-Minister of Culture Zhou Heping at the Mansudae Assembly Hall today.
The head of the delegation said at the meeting that the China-DPRK relations of friendship provided by revolutionaries of the elder generation are growing stronger under the deep care of the top leaders of the two countries.
He hoped that the Korean people would achieve success in the building of a great prosperous powerful socialist nation under the wise leadership of Kim Jong Il.
Talks between Foreign Ministers of DPRK and Iran Held
Pyongyang, September 6 (KCNA) -- Talks between Foreign Minister of the DPRK Pak Ui Chun and Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki were held in Tehran on Wednesday.
Present at the talks on the DPRK side were members of its delegation on a visit to Iran and the DPRK ambassador to Iran and on the Iranian side were the vice-minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran and other officials concerned.
Both sides at the talks discussed the need to boost the friendly relations between the two countries and exchanged views on a series of issues of mutual interest.
Promotion of Human Rights and Diversity of Culture Called for
Teheran, September 4 (KCNA) -- The DPRK government and people will fulfill their responsibility and obligation to promote human rights and diversity of culture in the future, too and thus make a positive contribution to advancing the noble cause of the Non-Aligned Movement.
Foreign Minister Pak Ui Chun, head of the DPRK delegation, said this when addressing the ministerial meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement on human rights and diversity of culture on September 3.
Noting that the reality requires the member states of the NAM to get awakened and unite to reject the Western-style view on value detrimental to the independent development in the field of social culture including human rights and positively encourage and develop the diversity of culture, tradition and custom peculiar to each nation and state, he referred to the issues which require special attention.
He said:
Member states of the NAM should get united to stand firm against the politicization and selectivity of human rights and the application of double standards in dealing with them and disallow any attempt to use the "human rights protection" as a political lever for interfering in other country's internal affairs and trifling with the destiny of other nations.
They should shape a cultural policy to suit their specific conditions and inherit and develop the excellent tradition and cultural heritages peculiar to their nations on the basis of it.
And they should be aware of the nature and the danger of the ideological and cultural poisoning committed by the West including the U.S. under the signboard of "freedom" and "democracy" and exert concerted efforts to defend their socio-political system and properly preserve cultural characteristics peculiar to them.
Saying that the Korean people who have lived in one and the same territory with a history spanning 5,000 years created lots of cultural wealth, greatly contributing to the human progress and cultural development, he continued:
The DPRK has no option but to reinforce the deterrent for self-defence in every way and protect the socialist system chosen by its people to the last by pursuing the Songun policy under the tense military and political situation on the Korean Peninsula and the region.
It is entirely thanks to the Songun policy that the strategic balance and peace have been preserved on the Korean Peninsula and the region and the people of the DPRK have enjoyed genuine human rights while defending and preserving the dignity, advantages and cultural diversity of the nation and the DPRK feels greatly proud of it.
Kim Il Chol Meets Indonesian Chief of Staff of Navy
Pyongyang, September 6 (KCNA) -- Kim Il Chol, minister of the People's Armed Forces, met and had a friendly talk with Slamet Soebieanto, chief of Staff of Navy of the Indonesian National Army, and his party on Thursday.
Present there were general officers and officers of the Korean People's Army and the Indonesian ambassador to the DPRK.
Gift to Kim Jong Il from Chinese Delegation
Pyongyang, September 6 (KCNA) -- General Secretary Kim Jong Il was presented with a gift by the visiting Chinese government cultural delegation.
The gift was conveyed to Yang Hyong Sop, vice-president of the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly, by Vice-Minister of Culture Zhou Heping, who is leading the delegation, Thursday.
Floral Basket to Kim Jong Il
Pyongyang, September 6 (KCNA) -- General Secretary Kim Jong Il received a floral basket from Chief of the Palestinian National Authority Mahmoud Abbas on the occasion of the 59th founding anniversary of the DPRK.
The floral basket was conveyed to an official concerned by the Palestinian ambassador to the DPRK on Thursday.
Indonesian Chief of Staff of Navy Visits Revolutionary Martyrs Cemetery
Pyongyang, September 6 (KCNA) -- Slamet Soebieanto, chief of Staff of Navy of the Indonesian National Army, and his party on Thursday visited the Revolutionary Martyrs Cemetery on Mt. Taesong.
Laid at the cemetery was a wreath in the name of the above-said party.
Ribbon of the wreath bore letters reading "Glory to the revolutionary martyrs!"
The visitors paid a silent tribute to the martyrs.
Then they laid bouquets before the bust of Kim Jong Suk, an anti-Japanese war hero, and paid homage to her.

DPRK's Birthday Observed in Bulgaria and Democratic Congo
Pyongyang, September 6 (KCNA) -- Organizations of Bulgaria and Democratic Congo issued information bulletins on the occasion of the 59th founding anniversary of the DPRK.
The Bulgaria-Korea Friendship Association in its information bulletin on Aug. 31 carried an article titled "National Holiday of the DPRK" explaining in detail the historic background against which the DPRK was founded.
Noting that the party, the army and people of the DPRK are always united, the bulletin stressed this is the fruition of the wise guidance of President Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il.
The bulletin in another article entitled "Faith and Sense of Moral Obligation" said that former unconverted long-term prisoners, who are known as incarnations of faith and will, became the heroes of the DPRK and winners of National Reunification Prize under the care of Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il. They are enjoying a happy life and devoting all their enthusiasm to the work to bring the reunification of the country earlier, the bulletin added.
The Group for the Study of Kim Jong Il Juche Idea of Democratic Congo carried an article entitled "Political Philosophy of Believing in the People as in Heaven" on its information bulletin on Aug. 27. The article said that believing in the people as in Heaven is the idea of Kim Il Sung and motto of his life and the political idea which Kim Jong Il has consistently embodied.
Korean People's Struggle Supported
Pyongyang, September 6 (KCNA) -- Kamal Hyder, general secretary of the Bangladesh Peace Council who is vice-president of the World Peace Council, issued a statement on September 1 on the occasion of the 59th anniversary of the foundation of the DPRK.
The statement paid high tribute to President Kim Il Sung who liberated the country and achieved the cause of founding the DPRK and defeated the U.S. imperialist aggressors in the Korean war, protecting the freedom and independence of the country.
It said that the Korean people have fully demonstrated the might of Songun Korea to the world, remaining true to the Songun policy enforced by Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the National Defence Commission of the DPRK.
Expressing positive support to the Korean people in their efforts to build a great prosperous powerful nation and achieve the independent and peaceful reunification of the country, the statement expressed the belief that the friendly ties between the two peoples would grow stronger.
Struggle for Withdrawal of U.S. Troops Called for in S. Korea
Pyongyang, September 6 (KCNA) -- Different civic and public organizations of south Korea including the People for Achieving Peace and Reunification reportedly held a meeting in front of the "command and control office" of the south Korea-U.S. "Combined Forces Command" on Aug. 31, calling upon all people to turn out in the struggle for the withdrawal of the U.S. troops from south Korea.
Speakers at the meeting charged that the joint military exercises staged in accordance with the "OPLAN 5027-04" aiming at the "collapse of the north" laid a grave obstacle in the way of achieving reconciliation and cooperation among Koreans.
Prior to the meeting, Jang Kyong Uk, chairman of the Committee for the Study of the U.S. Forces Issue of the Bar Association for Democratic Society, and other members of the association staged a one-man demonstration in demand of the withdrawal of the U.S. troops.
Illusion about Imperialism Means Death: Rodong Sinmun
Pyongyang, September 6 (KCNA) -- Illusion about imperialism blinds people and ruins the country and the nation, warns Rodong Sinmun Thursday.
Noting that the imperialists leave no stone unturned in their efforts to create illusion about them, claiming that their dominationist nature has changed, the by-lined article says:
One should clearly see through the aggressive and predatory nature of imperialism, if one is to be freed from illusion about it. It is the mode of life and regular job of the imperialists to engage themselves in aggression and domination of other countries and nations till they go to their graves.
The countries and peoples aspiring after independence and progress should correctly understand that illusion about imperialism immediately means death, national ruin and subordination.
And they should stay sharp-eyed against the "aid" and "cooperation" loudly peddled by the imperialists.
They should not be fooled by the "peace" ballad of the imperialists.
The aggression and war moves of the U.S. imperialists are the biggest barrier to the human cause of independence and peace in the present times.
One should adhere to the revolutionary principle to the bitter end if one is to be freed from illusion about imperialism. To abide by the revolutionary principle in the confrontation with imperialism is like life and soul for the countries aspiring after independence.
What is most important in observing the revolutionary principle is to maintain a resolute anti-imperialist, anti-U.S. stand.
Fear of imperialism should be dispelled. If one is afraid of the enemy, one is overawed and can neither say what one wants to say nor do what one should do and, bereft of independence, curries favor with the imperialists, reading their faces.
One should build up one's strength to thwart and smash the aggression and war moves of imperialism. If all the countries desirous of independence fight a relentless struggle against the aggression and military intervention of the imperialists from a staunch anti-imperialist stand, they can well curb and frustrate the moves of the latter.
Preservation of National Character Called for
Pyongyang, September 6 (KCNA) -- National character serves as a priceless ideological and moral source for the existence and development of a nation and it is an essential requirement for carving out the destiny of the nation to actively preserve the national character.
Rodong Sinmun Thursday observes this in a signed article.
It says:
Only when the Koreans preserve their national character in the struggle for the reunification of the country to achieve independence can they meet their desire and wish to live as a homogenous nation and further glorify its long history and culture.
The Korean nation has been known to be stronger in patriotism and the spirit of national independence than others since olden times. Koreans have always loved their country very much and waged a strenuous struggle to defend the country and national independence.
The Koreans are a homogenous nation to be proud of as they have long developed an ancient history and brilliant culture, carrying forward their 5,000-year long tradition. They are more advantageous in wisdom, skill and talent than others.
The strong spirit of national independence and brilliant national cultural tradition serve as a valuable spiritual treasure and boon to carving out the destiny of the nation as the Koreans feel highly proud of them.
The reunification of the country is the greatest task the implementation of which brooks not a moment's delay in carving out the destiny of the Korean nation and the cause of national reunification is the cause of national independence as it can be achieved only through its concerted efforts.
It is self-evident truth that the cause of national reunification, the cause of national independence, would have been unthinkable without national character just as the homogenous Korean nation would have been unthinkable without the national character.
The desire of the fellow countrymen to firmly preserve the national character is stronger as the days go by and this serves as an engine promoting national unity and reunification.
The adoption of the historic June 15 North-South Joint Declaration provided all the Koreans with an occasion of encouraging them to preserve the homogeneity and identity of the nation.
The article calls on all Koreans in the north and the south and overseas to strive hard to expedite national unity and the reunification of the country on the basis of the national character irrespective of ideology and social system.
DPRK Women's Football Team Attracts World's Attention
Pyongyang, September 6 (KCNA) -- The DPRK women's football team has attracted the world's attention by establishing a new record at the Asian regional qualifier for the 29th Olympics.
The DPRK team won all the six games in the Group B. It netted 51 goals in the matches, thus becoming the top goal-scorer among all the eight teams of Asia.
It exceeded the 45 goals the four teams of the Group A made in 12 matches. It was 24 more than those of the Japanese team and 11 more than those of the Australian team.
In particular, the DPRK team did not permit its opponents to kick a ball into the goal.
It beat the rival of Hong Kong of China 19-0 in the second match. It was the match which witnessed the highest scores out of the 24 games.
Captain of the DPRK team Ri Kum Suk headed a ball into the goal in a minute following the kick-off. It was the score made in the shortest time in the regional qualifier.
She became the top goal-scorer by over ten goals in the six matches.
Each of the 18 players of the team scored three goals on an average, making a record in the goal numbers per player.
The DPRK team demonstrated its might in the regional qualifier once again.
Anniversary of Kim Jong Il's Start of Songun Leadership Marked in Different Countries
Pyongyang, September 6 (KCNA) -- A seminar, a lecture and film shows took place in Pakistan and Nigeria on August 27 to mark the 47th anniversary of Kim Jong Il's start of Songun revolutionary leadership.
The participants of the film shows watched "Korean People's Army, Steel-like Ranks" and other Korean films.
S. M. Masud, a lawyer of the Supreme Court who is ex-minister of Justice of Pakistan, in a seminar said that thanks to the great Songun policy of Kim Jong Il, the DPRK is now displaying its might as an independent powerful state and a bulwark of independence against imperialism which nobody dare provoke and nothing can destroy.
The chairman of the Pakistan Society for the Study of Independence, noted in the seminar that the Songun policy is being hailed everywhere in the world and it has become the trend of the times to follow the example of the DPRK.
Aba Sadik Abubakr, chairman of the Nigerian Group for the Study of the Juche Philosophy, in a lecture stressed that the DPRK is fully displaying its might as a bulwark of independence and a fortress of peace before the world as it is guided by Kim Jong Il defending peace with Songun.

Teheran, 4 de septiembre (ATCC) -- En el futuro tambien, el gobierno y el pueblo de la Republica Popular Democratica de Corea cumpliran con toda su responsabilidad y deber para fomentar los derechos humanos y la diversidad cultural y contribuiran activamente a impulsar la noble causa del Movimiento de los Paises No Alineados.
Asi declaro el dia 3 el canciller Pak Ui Chun, quien presidio la delegacion de la RPDC a la reunion ministerial del Movimiento de los Paises No Alineados (NOAL) sobre los derechos humanos y la diversidad cultural.
Dijo que la realidad demanda que los NOAL esten despiertos y unidos para rechazar la concepcion del valor del Occidente, que impide el desarrollo independiente de los derechos humanos y otros dominios socio-culturales, promover activamente la diversidad de la cultura, tradicion y costumbre propias de los Estados nacionales.
Al referirse a los problemas de especial importancia, Pak senalo como sigue:
Los NOAL tienen que rechazar unidos la politizacion, la selectividad y la pauta de doble rasero en el trato de los derechos humanos y no deben permitir jamas el uso de la "defensa de DDHH" como medio politico para intervenir en los asuntos internos de otros paises y violar el destino de otras naciones.
Tambien, deben establecer la politica cultural conveniente a la realidad de su pais y heredar, basandose en ella, su propia y superior tradicion y patrimonio cultural de las respectivas naciones.
Deben conocer bien la esencia y la peligrosidad de las maniobras de penetracion ideologica y cultural de EE.UU. y otros paises occidentales, que se desarrollan bajo el cartel de la "libertad" y la "democracia", y fortalecer los esfuerzos comunes por defender su sistema socio-politico y fomentar correctamente las originales caracteristicas de su cultura.
El pueblo coreano, que vino viviendo en un territorio integrado con su historia de 5 mil anos, contribuyo grandemente al progreso y al desarrollo cultural de la humanidad al crear numerosos bienes culturales.
Bajo la aguda situacion militar y politica dada en la Peninsula Coreana y la region, la RPDC no tiene otra opcion que practicar la politica de Songun (priorizacion militar) para consolidar por todos los medios la fuerza disuasoria de autodefensa y defender hasta el fin el regimen socialista escogido por el mismo pueblo coreano.
Ahora, en la Peninsula Coreana y la region se aseguran el equilibrio estrategico y la paz y el pueblo coreano disfruta de los autenticos derechos humanos manteniendo la dignidad y la superioridad de la nacion y la diversidad. Todo esto se debe enteramente a la politica de Songun, de lo que nos enorgullecemos mucho.
Elogiada en varios paises la politica de Songun
Pyongyang, 6 de septiembre (ATCC) -- Con motivo del 47o aniversario del inicio de la direccion del Dirigente Kim Jong Il sobre la revolucion mediante el Songun (priorizacion militar), tuvieron lugar el 27 de agosto en Pakistan y Nigeria simposio, conferencia y proyeccion filmica.
En los encuentros del cine se proyectaron las peliculas coreanas, inclusive el documental "El Ejercito Popular de Corea, filas de acero".
El ex ministro de Justicia de Pakistan y abogado del tribunal supremo, S. M. Masud, subrayo en el simposio que gracias a la gran politica de Songun del Dirigente, Corea exalta su gallardo aspecto como intocable e inquebrantable potencia independiente y baluarte de independencia antiimperialista.
El presidente de la Asociacion para el Estudio de Independencia de Pakistan, Pakar Udin Choudri, dijo en el mismo foro que por doquier del mundo se hace la corriente de la epoca elogiar la politica de Songun y aprender de Corea.

Nacionalidad es la base de unidad nacional y reunificacion de patria
Pyongyang, 6 de septiembre (ATCC) -- La nacionalidad constituye la valiosa fuente ideo-espiritual para la existencia y el desarrollo de la nacion y fomentarla activamente resulta una demanda indispensable de la forja del destino nacional.

Hoy dia, solo cuando mantenga la nacionalidad en la lucha por la reunificacion de la patria y la independencia, la homogenea nacion coreana puede realizar su deseo de vivir no dividida en dos partes y glorificar su larga historia y cultura.
Desde la antiguedad, ella se caracterizaba por el fuerte espiritu patriotico y la alta conciencia de independencia nacional.
Siempre amo ardientemente a la patria y lucho persistentemente por defender la soberania del pais y la nacion.
Esta orgullosa nacion, que durante 5 milenios vivio estableciendo relaciones consanguineas y creando su larga historia y brillante cultura, mostro su superioridad en la inteligencia y talentos.
El fuerte espiritu de independencia nacional y las brillantes tradiciones culturales devienen el gran orgullo de la nacion coreana y el valioso patrimonio espiritual de ella.
La reunificacion de la patria es la tarea apremiante para la forja del destino nacional y significa la causa de independencia nacional que puede cumplirse por la lucha de toda la nacion unida.
Es obvio que al margen de la nacionalidad no se puede hablar de la homogenea nacion coreana ni de la causa de reunificacion de la patria.
La aspiracion de la nacion de fomentar la nacionalidad se hace cada dia mas fuerte y sirve de fuerza motriz que impulsa la unidad nacional y la reintegracion territorial del pais.
La aprobacion de la historica Declaracion Conjunta Norte-Sur del 15 de Junio estimulo a toda la nacion a mantener la homogeneidad y la nacionalidad.
Todos los integrantes de la nacion coreana en el Norte, el Sur y en ultramar deben librar una dinamica lucha por adelantar a base de la nacionalidad la unidad nacional y la reunificacion de la patria dejando a un lado las diferencias de ideas y sistemas.
Bulgaria y Congo Democratico: boletines dedicados a fiesta coreana
Pyongyang, 6 de septiembre (ATCC) -- Las entidades de Bulgaria y Congo Democratico dieron a luz los boletines dedicados al aniversario 59 de la fundacion de la Republica Popular Democratica de Corea.
En el articulo "La fiesta nacional de la Republica Popular Democratica de Corea" insertado en el boletin fechado 31 de agosto, la Asociacion de Amistad Bulgaria-Corea presento detalladamente el proceso historico de la fundacion de la RPDC.
El boletin senala que el partido, el ejercito y el pueblo de Corea estan unidos siempre firmemente y subraya que esto es un fruto de la sabia direccion del Presidente Kim Il Sung y el Dirigente Kim Jong Il.
En otro articulo "La Conviccion y obligacion moral" da cuenta de que los ex presos de largas condenas no abjurados, conocidos como simbolos de la fe y voluntad, llevan una vida feliz como heroes de la Republica y ganadores del Premio de Reunificacion de la Patria desde cuando fueron devueltos al regazo del Presidente y el Dirigente y trabajan con toda su pasion para adelantar la reunificacion de la patria.
Por otra parte, el Grupo de Estudio de la Idea Juche Kim Jong Il del Congo Democratico publico el 27 de agosto el boletin con el articulo "La filosofia politica de ´Iminwichon´ (considerar al pueblo como el cielo)".
Este articulo apunta que ese ideario es la maxima de vida del Presidente Kim Il Sung y el ideal politico que materializa de modo consecuente el Dirigente Kim Jong Il.
