Kim Jong Il Congratulates Syrian President
Pyongyang, September 10 (KCNA) -- General Secretary Kim Jong Il Monday sent a congratulatory message to Bashar Al-Assad, regional secretary of the Baath Arab Socialist Party and President of Syria, on his 42nd birthday.
The message said: Today the Syrian people under your leadership are striving hard to defend the sovereignty and dignity of the country and build a modern society, meeting all challenges and overcoming difficulties, and making a positive contribution to the fair and comprehensive settlement of the Mideast issue.
Pleased to note that the excellent friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries are steadily growing stronger even under the complicated international situation, the message wished him good health and happiness and greater success in his responsible work.
Yang Hyong Sop Meets Chinese Delegation
Pyongyang, September 10 (KCNA) -- Yang Hyong Sop, vice-president of the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly, met and had a friendly talk with the delegation of the China Association for International Friendly Contact led by its Vice-President Shen Weiping at the Mansudae Assembly Hall today.
Present there were Jon Yong Jin, vice-chairman of the Korean Committee for Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries, and Xing Haiming, Chinese charge d' affaires ad interim in the DPRK.
Noting that it is the unshakable stand of the Chinese government and people to boost the friendly and cooperative relations between the DPRK and China, the head of the Chinese delegation said that they would work hard to develop the traditional friendly relations between the two countries.
He hoped that the Korean people would achieve bigger success in building a great prosperous powerful socialist nation under the wise leadership of Kim Jong Il.
Members of Chinese Delegation Meet Korean Anti-Japanese Women Fighters
Pyongyang, September 10 (KCNA) -- The members of the delegation of the China Association for International Friendly Contact led by Vice-President Shen Weiping on a visit to the DPRK met Kim Ok Sun and Jon Sun Hui, Korean anti-Japanese women revolutionary fighters, at the Korean Revolution Museum on Monday.
The women fighters told about the noble revolutionary life of anti-Japanese war hero Kim Jong Suk who was intensely loyal to President Kim Il Sung.
The head of the delegation said that while staying in the DPRK it visited her time-honored old home in Hoeryong this significant year which marks the 90th anniversary of her birth.
Hearing the stories told by the women fighters, the head of the delegation said this helped it know well about the great revolutionary life of the woman general of Mt. Paektu.
Saying that Kim Jong Suk was an outstanding woman revolutionary fighter who defended the great idea of the President and performed undying feats in the sacred cause of the country's liberation and prosperity, the head of the delegation stressed that her desire is becoming a brilliant reality thanks to Kim Jong Il.
Russian Dance Company Gives Performance
Pyongyang, September 10 (KCNA) -- The visiting State Academic Moiseyev Dance Company of Russia gave its performance at the East Pyongyang Grand Theatre Sunday, the 59th anniversary of the DPRK.
The performance was appreciated by Vice-President of the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly Yang Hyong Sop, Secretary of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea Kim Ki Nam, Minister of Culture Kang Nung Su, Chairman of the Central Committee of the General Federation of the Unions of Literature and the Arts of Korea Kim Pyong Hun, Chairman of the Pyongyang City People's Committee Pak Kwan O, officials of ministries and national institutions and creators and artistes in the field of culture and arts.
Among the audience were the charge d'affaires ad interim and staff members of the Russian embassy here and diplomatic envoys and staff members of other embassies here.
Russian artistes in their repertoire truthfully represented the lifestyles, feelings and customs of peoples of Russia and other countries and nations with high artistry.
They staged Russian dances "Guerillas," "Summer" and "Kalmyk" depicting well the Russian army and people's ardent love for their motherland and optimism, deeply impressing the audience.
They also presented Moldovan humorous dance "Tabakeryaska," Uzbek dance "Dish Dance" and Argentine shepherd dance "Gaucho" and other dances.
Foundation Anniversary of DPRK Marked
Pyongyang, September 10 (KCNA) -- Colorful functions took place in different parts of the country on Sunday to celebrate the birthday of the DPRK.
A performance of revolutionary opera "The Flower Girl", adapted from the immortal classic masterpiece "The Flower Girl", was given at the Pyongyang Grand Theatre in the capital city of Pyongyang.
The artistes of the State Symphony Orchestra gave a concert at the Moranbong Theatre.
The performers highly praised the immortal exploits performed by President Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il in opening up the new history of building the socialist state of Juche and demonstrating the dignity and might of Songun Korea.
A music and dance performance was given by the artistes of the State National Art Troupe at the Central Youth Hall.

59th Anniversary of DPRK Marked in Different Countries
Pyongyang, September 10 (KCNA) -- A rally and an opening ceremony of a Korean book, photo and handicraft exhibition took place in Bulgaria, seminar and reading session in Uganda and Ethiopia and a rally in Russia from September 3 to 7 on the occasion of the 59th anniversary of the DPRK.
On display in the venues of functions were famous works of peerlessly great men, photos showing their immortal exploits, books and photos depicting the true looks of Songun Korea and handicrafts showing the wisdom and talents of the Korean people.
Speeches were made at the rally and the opening ceremony.
The acting chairman of the Bulgaria-Korea Friendship Association introduced in detail the history of victories and glory covered by the DPRK.

Birthday of DPRK Observed in Bangladesh
Pyongyang, September 10 (KCNA) -- The Workers' Party of Bangladesh, the Bangladesh National Socialist Party and the Bangladesh-Korea Friendship and Solidarity Committee issued a joint statement on September 5 on the occasion of the 59th anniversary of the DPRK.
The statement said that the foundation of the DPRK by President Kim Il Sung is a great immortal contribution to the Korean revolution and the human cause of independence.
The Korean people under the Songun leadership of Kim Jong Il are now pushing ahead with the heroic advance for the building of a great prosperous powerful socialist nation, firmly defending the sovereignty of the country and the national dignity, it noted.

Fifth National Ssirum Tournament for "Grand Bull Prize" To Be Held
Pyongyang, September 10 (KCNA) -- The Fifth National Ssirum (Korean wrestling) Tournament for "Grand Bull Prize" will be held at the Ssirum Ground on Rungra Island in Pyongyang from September 17 to 19 to mark Chusok (the lunar August 15th), a traditional folk holiday in Korea.
The tournament will be participated in by the players selected in Pyongyang and all provinces.
The ranking of the team event is to be decided through the games of seven body-weight grades and the grand bull awarded to the winner of the catchweight ssirum event.
The winner of the catchweight event will receive a gold bell along with the grand bull weighing nearly one ton and the second and third placers relevant prizes.
New Types of Pianos Produced
Pyongyang, September 10 (KCNA) -- The Pyongyang Piano Joint Venture Company is manufacturing new types of upright pianos.
Han Chol Yong, director of the company, told KCNA that pianos of 123 and 136 models were highly appreciated by experts and music fans at the international musical instrument exhibitions held in Germany in April 2004 and the U.S. in January 2006.
Their resonance boxes and forms were transformed in a rational way.
Noel Flores, member of the Jury of the International Piano Competition, said that the upright pianos were very fine.
Their keys are sensitive so that the players can play any art pieces as they wish.
They have unique formative beauty.
Unjustifiable U.S. Interference Denounced in S. Korea
Pyongyang, September 10 (KCNA) -- South Korean civic and public organizations including the South Headquarters of the National Alliance for the Country's Reunification and the People for Achieving Peace and Reunification reportedly called a joint press conference in Seoul on September 5, at which they accused the U.S. of its unjustifiable interference.
The speakers at the press conference noted that the United States was putting pressure to bear upon the south Korean authorities, croaking that "the inter-Korean summit should be talks for denuclearization".
Saying that "the issue of the inter-Korean summit is a domestic issue of the Korean nation and the U.S. is not allowed to poke its nose into it", the speakers noted that this revealed its mean intention to throw a snag in the way of the development of the inter-Korean relations.
If the U.S. truly wanted denuclearization on the Korean Peninsula, it should withdraw its nuclear weapons from south Korea first of all, they said.
They urged the south Korean authorities to reject the untenable demand of the U.S. and clarify their stand to solve the inter-Korean relations by the efforts of the Korean nation itself.
Withdrawal of U.S. Forces Urged in S. Korea
Pyongyang, September 10 (KCNA) -- The South Headquarters of the National Alliance of Youth and Students for the Country's Reunification (Pomchonghakryon) in a statement on September 8 called upon the youth and students to turn out in the struggle to drive the U.S. forces out of south Korea, according to a news report.
The statement noted that the U.S. forces have revealed their true colors as murderers and plunderers from the moment they placed south Korea under their boots for aggression.
The U.S. forces in south Korea have hindered the reunification of the Korean nation by staging an unbroken chain of large-scale war exercises against the north and brought untold misfortunes and pain to the south Korean people by all manner of crimes, killings and environmental pollution, the statement said.
It held that the U.S. forces have no justification to stay any longer in south Korea today when all the Koreans are opening a new phase of peace on the Korean Peninsula, co-prosperity of the nation and national reunification by developing the inter-Korean relations to a higher stage.
Projected Extension of Period of Troop Dispatch to Iraq Denounced in S. Korea
Pyongyang, September 10 (KCNA) -- The south Korean People's Action against Troop Dispatch reportedly called a press conference in Seoul on September 7 to denounce the scheme of the south Korean "government" to extend the period of troop dispatch to Iraq.
Noting that the "government" was planning to extend the stationing period of the "Jaitun" unit in Iraq, the speakers at the press conference stated that no attempt to extend the period would be tolerated.
They accused the "government" of trying to justify the troop dispatch to Iraq while blaming south Korean civilians for the case of their abduction in Afghanistan, far from drawing a lesson from it.
They declared that they would wage a full-scale struggle against troop dispatch, which would include "a movement of public declaration for the withdrawal of dispatched troops".

Rinden tributo a Kim Il Sung en el Palacio Memorial Kumsusan
Pyongyang, 10 de septiembre (ATCC) -- Con motivo del aniversario 59 de la fundacion de la Republica Popular Democratica de Corea, los cuadros del partido y el Estado, el presidente de partido amigo, miembros directivos del Ejercito Popular de Corea, miembros del Consejo de Ministros, diputados a la Asamblea Popular Suprema en la ciudad de Pyongyang y funcionarios directivos de los organismos del partido y el Poder, organizaciones sociales, ministerios, organos centrales expresaron el dia 9 homenaje al Presidente Kim Il Sung ante su estatua y cuerpo en el Palacio Memorial Kumsusan.

En las sedes de esas actividades estaban exhibidas las obras maestras de los grandes hombres sin pares (Presidente Kim Il Sung y Dirigente Kim Jong Il) y las fotos alusivas a sus inmortales hazanas, libros y fotos que describen la autentica fisonomia de la Corea del Songun (priorizacion militar), bordados y productos artesanales que muestran la inteligencia y talentos del pueblo coreano.
En los mitines y ceremonia inaugural hubo discursos.
El presidente interino de la Asociacion de Amistad Bulgaria-Corea dio a conocer detalladamente la historia de la RPDC signada de victorias y glorias.
Vorontsov, jefe de la seccion de Corea del Instituto de Estudio del Oriente de la Academia de Ciencias de Rusia, dijo que en los ultimos anos, el pueblo coreano termino exitosamente la "marcha penosa" y la forzada y libro una energica lucha por construir una gran potencia prospera.
Prosiguio que eso se debe a que el Presidente Kim Il Sung convirtio a Corea en un poderoso Estado que no se afloja ante ninguna dificultad.
El director de departamento del Ministerio de Cultura de Bulgaria expreso conviccion de que la presente exposicion devendra una importante oportunidad para dar a conocer mejor la inteligencia y talentos del pueblo coreano entre los bulgaros.
Los miembros del Grupo de Estudio de la Politica de Songun de la Escuela Media alta Coloro de Kampala de Uganda explicaron bien la caracteristica esencial, la invencibilidad e inagotable vitalidad del socialismo coreano que materializa la inmortal idea Juche.
En el encuentro de lectura el presidente de la Asociacion de la Juventud de Addis Ababa de Etiopia hablo en detalles de las hazanas realizadas por el Presidente Kim Il Sung en la construccion del Estado y de las imborrables proezas del Dirigente Kim Jong Il.

Pyongyang, 10 de septiembre (ATCC) -- En ocasion del 59 aniversario de la fundacion de la Republica Popular Democratica de Corea fueron depositados cestos de flores ante las estatuas de bronce del Presidente Kim Il Sung erguidas en distintos lugares del pais.
Ante la estatua de bronce del Presidente en la colina Mansu de esta capital estaba colocado un cesto de flores enviado por el Dirigente Kim Jong Il.
Fueron depositados alli tambien cestos, ramos y ramitas de flores a nombre de los organismos del partido, las fuerzas armadas y el Poder, organizaciones sociales, ministerios, organos centrales, instituciones de ciencia, educacion, cultura y arte, salud publica, prensa e informacion, fabricas, empresas, granjas y escuelas.
Ademas, fue colocado un cesto de flores a nombre de la sucursal del Frente Democratico Nacional Antiimperialista en Pyongyang.
En las cintas de cestos se leian: "El gran Lider, camarada Kim Il Sung sera inmortal", "El gran Lider, camarada Kim Il Sung estara para siempre con nosotros", etc.
Los trabajadores, jovenes y ninos escolares de distintos estratos le rindieron tributo.
Fueron puestos cestos de flores tambien ante las estatuas de bronce del Presidente erguidas en la Universidad Kim Il Sung, la Academia Militar General Kim Il Sung, el Ministerio de Seguridad del Pueblo, los Estudios Cinematograficos de Corea, el Palacio de Escolares y Ninos de Pyongyang y otras unidades de la capital.
