Feats Performed by Kim Jong Suk in Anti-Japanese Revolutionary Struggle

Pyongyang, September 22 (KCNA) -- The distinguished military feats performed by anti-Japanese woman hero Kim Jong Suk in fierce battles shine in the history of the anti-Japanese revolutionary struggle.
She, who joined the Children's Vanguards, a para-military organization, in her early age, devotedly fought to defend the guerrilla zone. She made a great contribution to the victory in the battle for protecting the guerrilla zone from the Japanese imperialists' "winter punitive operation" in 1933 and in the operation of harassing the rear of the enemy in 1934.
She entered the Korean People's Revolutionary Army at the Chechangzi Guerrilla Zone in September Juche 24 (1935) and took part in several hundred battles including the battles at Xinancha, at Xigang, at Ershidaogou of Changbai County, at Banjiegou, near Shuangshanzi and at Taehongdan during the anti-Japanese revolutionary war.
In particular, she covered President Kim Il Sung with her body in a crucial moment and mowed down enemy soldiers mercilessly at the battle of Daeshahe Gully. Her feats are still conveyed as a paragon for guarding the leader with very life.
She participated in the battles of Laoling and Fusong County Seat which were commanded by the President and rendered distinguished military services to crushing the enemy's attempt at every step and to realizing the operational intention of the Headquarters with her outstanding military strategy and marksmanship worthy of crack shot.
She used to make a breach of victory in battle with her unparalleled courage, distinguished marksmanship, unrivaled bravery and self-sacrificing spirit.
In the battle for defending the Chechangzi Guerilla Zone in October 1935 after her entry into the army, she grasped the weak links of the enemy and put forward a good plan to put the 10,000-strong enemy "punitive" forces to the disadvantage with some 100 armed personnel, thus making a great contribution to the victory in the battle.
She, with two Mausers in both hands, shot down some ten enemy soldiers in a twinkle at Fusong County Seat battle in August 1936 and killed nearly 40 enemies at the Hongtoushan battle in February 1937. The history of the anti-Japanese war conveys many stories lauding her combat activities.
For her uncommon military wisdom and courage displayed in the years of the anti-Japanese war, she was praised as "Woman General of Mt. Paektu" and "Anti-Japanese Woman Hero" by the guerrillas and people.

Rodong Sinmun Calls on Korean Nation to Fulfil Its Mission

Pyongyang, September 23 (KCNA) -- The Korean nation should be clearly aware of its responsibility as the driving force for national reunification and enhance its role in every way and thus accomplish the cause of independent and peaceful reunification of the country without fail.
Rodong Sinmun Sunday says this in a signed article.
The cause of national reunification is the one for national independence which the Korean nation should fully take charge of and carry out with responsibility, the article notes, and goes on:
The progress and success in the movement for national reunification are unthinkable without the role of the driving force. And no outside forces can replace the Korean nation in accomplishing the cause of national reunification. The Korean nation with 5,000 year-long proud history of development is able to hew out its destiny with responsibility. It is a clear manifestation of the fact that the movement for national reunification has steadily developed, overcoming ordeals and difficulties caused by the vicious moves of the separatist forces at home and abroad against reunification.
All these facts go to prove that as the Korean nation is the very one responsible for national reunification,it comes to be the driving force of the movement for national reunification.
As the Korean nation's movement for national reunification is accompanied by the fierce struggle against the U.S. and its followers bent on the scheme to keep the Korean Peninsula permanently divided into two, it is essential for all the Koreans in the north and the south and abroad to unite. The decisive guarantee for the cause of national reunification lies in the great unity of the whole nation.
Only when the Korean nation flatly rejects the outside forces' interference and obstructions to the issue of national reunification and closely unites on the principle of national independence resolutely opposing flunkeyism and idea of dependence on outside forces, can it become the decisive force in the movement for reunification as the driving force for national reunification.
The entire Korean nation should firmly rally under the banner of "By our nation itself", the idea of national independence and great unity, to consolidate the driving force of national reunification in every way.

Rodong Sinmun on DPRK's Foreign Policy

Pyongyang, September 22 (KCNA) -- The DPRK will make every possible effort to ensure peace and security on the Korean Peninsula and the rest of Asia and the world, invariably regarding it as an important principle of its external activities to defend peace.
Rodong Sinmun Saturday observes this in a signed article.
    It goes on:
Ensuring peace on the Korean Peninsula is very important for keeping peace in the world at present.
If a new war breaks out on the Korean Peninsula, the powers around it cannot but get involved in it whether they like it or not due to its military and strategic importance. In that case the fallout of the war may extend not only to the Asia-Pacific region but also to all other parts of the world.
The Korean Peninsula is the region fraught with the greatest danger of war in the world. There is no legal and institutional mechanism for averting a war on the Korean Peninsula. The DPRK and the U.S. have been technically at war for several decades and it has reached a more dangerous phase due to the moves of the U.S. imperialists for war. The Korean Peninsula has become the primary target of the Japanese reactionaries' oversea aggression. The U. S. imperialists' means of nuclear strike are targeted on the DPRK round-the-clock and their nuclear war exercises are being escalated. In consequence, a nuclear war may break out on the peninsula any moment due to the moves of the U.S. imperialists.
It is entirely thanks to the DPRK's peace-loving stand and its efforts to ensure peace that a war has not broken out in Korea and peace has been preserved there though the situation there remains so tense.
The DPRK is striving hard to ensure durable peace in Korea, while frustrating all incessant moves of the imperialists for war, pursuant to its policy of giving importance to military affairs, the policy based on the philosophy on army that peace can be guaranteed with arms only, concludes the article.

Conclusion of Peace Agreement Urged in S. Korea

Pyongyang, September 23 (KCNA) -- The People for Achieving Peace and Reunification of south Korea reportedly held the 72nd rally for peace and disarmament in Seoul on Sept. 18 and demanded the conclusion of the peace agreement on the Korean Peninsula.
Noting that the south Korean authorities have become all the more zealous in their moves to increase the "spending for national defence" pursuant to the U.S. strategy for a preemptive attack on the DPRK, the speakers branded them as anti-reunification acts of hamstringing the efforts to build peace mechanism on the Korean Peninsula.
Urging the need to force the U.S., chiefly responsible for a war crisis, to repeal the scenario for a preemptive attack on the DPRK to achieve genuine peace and reunification on this land they strongly demanded the stop to south Korea-U.S. "alliance", which can never go with the conclusion of the peace agreement on the Korean Peninsula, and withdrawal of the U.S. forces from south Korea.
At the end of the rally the participants thrust a letter of protest to the "Ministry of National Defence."

A press release read out at the press conference referred to the fact that the above-said ministry charged that north-related articles posted on Internet homepages of 13 organizations are a violation of the "Security Law" and issued an order to delete them on September 18. This is a clear violation of freedom of thinking and expression as it was caused by pressure from the organ of public security investigation, the release said.

Anti-Reunification Moves under Fire

Pyongyang, September 23 (KCNA) -- The Internet newspaper of Koreans in the U.S. "Minjok Thongsin" carried an article dedicated by an editor on September 19 denouncing outsiders and the sycophantic and treacherous forces of south Korea for their moves to disturb the holding of inter-Korean summit meeting.
The article dealt with all the more pronounced moves of the foreign forces and the sycophantic and treacherous forces of south Korea to check the holding of the summit with its approach.
    It went on:
Recently, John Bolton, former U.S. ambassador to the U.N., has gone so impudent as to meddle in the issue of the summit and some politicians of the U.S. emphasized the need to adjust the speed of the improvement of the inter-Korean ties and its war-like forces have spread all sorts of rumors to pull up the DPRK.
Japan deliberately suppressed the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon) and Koreans in Japan while insistently pursuing its one-sided hostile policy toward the DPRK. It also turned down even the humanitarian demand of Chongryon to render aid to the DPRK to clear away the flood damage and impudently repeated the "abduction issue".
The Grand National Party of south Korea, a traitors' party, has become all the more vicious in its moves to openly oppose the summit and left no stone unturned to put a break on its holding.
The article called on all Koreans to shatter the anti-reunification moves of the outsiders and the sycophantic and treacherous forces of south Korea including the GNP, their followers, and achieve the independent and peaceful reunification by the concerted efforts of the Korean nation.
