Credentials to Kim Yong Nam
Pyongyang, October 8 (KCNA) -- Kim Yong Nam, president of the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly, was presented with credentials by Vietnamese Ambassador to the DPRK Le Van Cu at the Mansudae Assembly Hall Monday.
Present there were Kim Yong Il, vice-minister of Foreign Affairs, and staff members of the Vietnamese embassy here.
After receiving the credentials, Kim Yong Nam had a talk with the ambassador.
Yang Hyong Sop Meets New Lao Ambassador
Pyongyang, October 8 (KCNA) -- Yang Hyong Sop, vice-president of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly of the DPRK, met and had a talk with new Lao Ambassador to the DPRK Chaleune Warinthrasak who paid a courtesy call on him at the Mansudae Assembly Hall Monday.
Greetings to Ugandan President
Pyongyang, October 8 (KCNA) -- Kim Yong Nam, president of the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly, sent a message of greetings to Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, President of Uganda, on Oct. 5 on the occasion of the 45th anniversary of its independence.
Kim in the message said that the Korean people are rejoiced over the many successes made by the Ugandan people in the work for consolidating peace and stability of the country and achieving socio-economic development under the leadership of the Ugandan president.
Expressing the belief that the excellent cooperative relations between the two countries will continue to favorably grow strong in the future, too, the message sincerely wished the Ugandan president good health and happiness and greater success in his responsible work.
Floral Basket to Kim Jong Il
Pyongyang, October 8 (KCNA) -- General Secretary Kim Jong Il was presented with a floral basket by Choummaly Saynasone, President of Laos and general secretary of the C.C., the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, on the occasion of the 62nd anniversary of the founding of the Workers' Party of Korea.
It was conveyed to an official concerned by Chaleune Warinthrasak, Lao ambassador to the DPRK, on Oct. 8.
Floral Basket and Congratulatory Letter to Kim Jong Il
Pyongyang, October 8 (KCNA) -- General Secretary Kim Jong Il received a floral basket and a congratulatory letter from the military attaches corps here on the occasion of the 62nd founding anniversary of the Workers' Party of Korea.

3rd Pyongyang Autumn International Trade Fair Opens
Pyongyang, October 8 (KCNA) -- The 3rd Pyongyang Autumn International Trade Fair was opened with due ceremony at the Three-Revolution Exhibition on Monday.
Exhibited there were machine tools, electric and electronic equipment, vehicles, petrochemicals, medicines, daily necessities, foodstuffs, etc. from companies of the DPRK, China, Germany, Netherlands, Mongolia, Switzerland, Britain, Australia, Italy, the Czech Republic, Canada, France, Finland, Poland and Taipei of China.
Present at the opening ceremony were Ro Tu Chol, vice-premier of the Cabinet, Rim Kyong Man, minister of Foreign Trade, and others and officials concerned.
On hand were delegations and delegates from the DPRK and different countries and regions, the government economic delegation of Mongolia and diplomatic envoys of various countries and embassy officials here.
Ri Ryong Nam, vice-minister of Foreign Trade, made a congratulatory speech at the opening ceremony to be followed by the opening speech by Kim Tong Myong, director of the Korean International Exhibition Corporation.
The speakers hoped that the trade fair would make a contribution to developing the mutual understanding, cooperation and exchange among countries, noting that the DPRK would make positive efforts to boost the friendship and solidarity with all countries which are friendly toward it and develop cooperation and exchange with them.
That day a reception was given on the occasion.
The trade fair will run till October 11.
Popularization of Physical Culture and Sports in DPRK
Pyongyang, October 8 (KCNA) -- President Kim Il Sung delivered a historic speech "For the Development of Physical Culture and Sports on a Mass Scale" at the Congress of Sportsmen held in October Juche 35 (1946), the first of its kind in Korea.
It marked the beginning of a new history of physical culture and sports for people in the country.
The examination of people's physical strength has been carried on every year since September 1948 so that the working people can take an active part in physical culture and sports activities. In August 1949, every second Sunday of October was instituted as the Day of Physical Culture.
A well-organized physical culture and sports guidance system from national institutions to industrial organs and farms has been established for the development of physical culture and sports on a mass scale.
Colorful physical culture and sports activities are held in the industrial establishments and farms throughout the country on the day and various other occasions, and a campaign for the Model Physical Culture and Sports Unit has been vigorously launched.

Kim Jong Il Highly Praised
Pyongyang, October 8 (KCNA) -- A famous portal site of China lauded Kim Jong Il as one of the "world's ten most influential politicians".
Praising the feats of the leader for the development of the inter-Korean relations and peace and prosperity, the site says that the decisiveness, the capacity of pushing ahead with work and sense of humor of Chairman of the National Defence Commission Kim Jong Il surpasses the imagination of the West.
It also notes that south Korean political figures expressed reverence, highly praising him as "a leader having uncommon judgment and rich knowledge".
Article Praising Kim Jong Il Posted on Internet in S. Korea
Pyongyang, October 8 (KCNA) -- "Chairman of the National Defence Commission Kim Jong Il, Illustrious Commander Born of Heaven" (3), an article published by the "Seoul Citizens' Committee for the Study of General Kim Jong Il," was posted on the Internet homepage of the Solidarity for Implementing the South-North Joint Declaration on September 29.
The article praised him as the most benevolent general who leads the people with trust and love.
Noting that "he is possessed of the disposition of loving and valuing man, the article in its first part says his outlook on the people whereby he thinks of man first of all, placing him in the center in every work, was formed already in his childhood under the tender care of President Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Suk.
The article in its second part highly praises Kim Jong Il as the most benevolent general who shows boundless love for the people.
Noting that he always said more importance should be attached to man than money in every work and no money should be spared in the work for the working people, the article says: In the north his politics is regarded as politics of love and the embrace of the Workers' Party of Korea as mother's embrace.
The article in its third part says Kim Jong Il is pursuing the Songun line by uniting the army with his deepest trust and love.
Stressing that Songun politics today is immediately his politics of trust and love, the article says this political mode has brought forth the single-minded unity of the army and people more powerful than the nuclear bomb.
The article in its fourth part notes that he has glorified the era of independence with comradeship.
He is the paragon of comradeship and the great man possessed of love, the most benevolent general of humankind who is most prudent in dealing with the issue of human destiny and remains responsible for it to the last, stresses the article.
WPK Founding Anniversary Marked Abroad
Pyongyang, October 8 (KCNA) -- A round-table talk, an exhibition of books, photos and handicrafts and a film show of the DPRK took place in Egypt, Brazil and Laos from September 26 to 29 to mark the 62nd founding anniversary of the Workers' Party of Korea.
Displayed at the venues of the functions were famous works of the peerlessly great men, photos showing immortal exploits performed in building the party, books and photos introducing Songun Korea, art works and handicrafts displaying the wisdom and talent of the Korean nation.
Yehia Zakaria Khairullah, secretary general of the Egypt-Korea Friendship Association, at the round-table talk highly praised the immortal exploits performed by Kim Jong Il in strengthening the WPK.

Kim Jong Il's Famous Work Published in Syria
Pyongyang, October 8 (KCNA) -- Kim Jong Il's famous work "The Workers' Party of Korea Organizes and Guides All the Victories of Our People" was brought out in booklet by the Dar Damascus Publishing House of Syria on October 1.
This work, published on October 3, Juche 79 (1990), expounds the idea that the leadership of the Workers' Party of Korea is the decisive guarantee for the victory of the cause of socialism and the issue of developing the WPK into the Juche-type revolutionary party and fundamental ways to carry out the mission and duty of the party as the leading political organization.

Iniciada III Exposicion Internacional de Mercancias Otonal de Pyongyang
Pyongyang, 8 de octubre (ATCC) -- Quedo inaugurada este lunes en la Exposicion Permanente de las Tres Revoluciones la III Exposicion Internacional de Mercancias Otonal de Pyongyang.
En la ocasion estan exhibidos las maquinas herramientas, equipos electricos y electronicos, vehiculos, productos petroquimicos, medicinas, articulos de uso diario, alimentos, etc. presentados por las firmas de Corea, China, Alemania, Holanda, Mongolia, Suiza, Gran Bretana, Australia, Italia, Checo, Canada, Francia, Finlandia, Polonia y Taipei China.
En la ceremonia inaugural participaron el viceprimer ministro del Consejo de Ministros Ro Tu Chol, el ministro de Comercio Exterior Rim Kyong Man y otros funcionarios coreanos.
