Kim Yong Nam Meets Mongolian Government Economic Delegation

Pyongyang, October 9 (KCNA) -- Kim Yong Nam, president of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly of the DPRK, met and had a friendly talk with the Mongolian government economic delegation headed by Ya. Sodbaatar, vice-minister of Industry and Trade, at the Mansudae Assembly Hall Tuesday.

Gift to Kim Jong Il from Mongolian Government Economic Delegation

Pyongyang, October 9 (KCNA) -- General Secretary Kim Jong Il was presented with a gift by the visiting Mongolian government economic delegation.
It was conveyed to Kim Yong Nam, president of the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly, by Ya. Sodbaatar, vice-minister of Industry and Trade, who is head of the delegation on Oct. 9.

Choe Thae Bok Meets New Indian Ambassador

Pyongyang, October 9 (KCNA) -- Choe Thae Bok, chairman of the Supreme People's Assembly of the DPRK, met and had a talk with Zile Singh, new Indian ambassador to the DPRK who paid a courtesy call on him, at the Mansudae Assembly Hall Tuesday.

Delegations of Yonhap News and Kyodo News Arrive

Pyongyang, October 9 (KCNA) -- A delegation of the Yonhap News of south Korea led by Director General Kim Ki So and a delegation of the Kyodo News of Japan led by President Satoshi Ishikawa arrived here on Tuesday to participate in the photo exhibition of the Koguryo mural paintings.

3rd Pyongyang Autumn International Trade Fair Goes on

   Pyongyang, October 9 (KCNA) -- The 3rd Pyongyang Autumn International Trade Fair is proceeding at the Three-Revolution Exhibition.
    　Sponsored by the Korean International Exhibition Corporation, the fair was visited by lots of entrepreneurs of various countries, economic and trade officials of the DPRK and working people on the very opening day.
    　Exhibited there are over 10,000 goods of 700-odd kinds including machine tools, electric and electronic equipments, vehicles, petrochemicals, medicines, daily necessities and foodstuffs.
    　The stands in the vast exhibition hall are crowded with visitors and buyers.
    　Machine tools including spark-erosion wire cutter and numerically controlled lathe, medicines and foodstuffs exhibited by various companies of DPRK are attracting the attention of visitors.

    　The fair is participated in by over 150 companies from various countries and regions of the world.

Immortal Feats Performed in Revolutionary Party Building

   Pyongyang, October 9 (KCNA) -- The Workers' Party of Korea is a glorious party which paved a new road for building a revolutionary party in the era of independence and created its brilliant model.
    President Kim Il Sung made energetic efforts for founding the revolutionary party from the early years of his revolutionary activities.
    He conceived a plan to organize the revolutionary vanguard organization which would wage the anti-Japanese national liberation struggle in reliance on the masses with a correct fighting programme and formed the Down-with Imperialism Union on October 17, Juche 15 (1926).
    The formation of the DIU was a historic declaration heralding the new start of the Korean revolution and marked the starting point of the struggle for founding the revolutionary party of Juche type.
    At the Kalun Meeting held in 1930, he expounded that the party should be founded in an independent way and by the method of organizing basic party organizations first and expanding and strengthening them and that the preparatory work for the foundation of the party should be done in close combination with the anti-Japanese struggle and thus indicated the unique way for the foundation of the revolutionary party.
    This was the policy, the first of its kind in history, that could be put forward only by the President who waged the revolutionary struggle by arousing the popular masses with a firm faith that the master of the revolution is the popular masses.
    Based on this principle, the President formed the first party organization -the Society for Rallying Comrades- the first origin of the Worker's Party of Korea, with new younger generations in Kalun in the early July 1930 and enlarged the party organization to various parts.
    He set up the Party Committee of the Korean People's Revolutionary Army (KPRA) to give a unified guidance to the basic party organizations and took a measure for it to control and lead the party organizations of the KPRA at all levels and the local party organizations.
    As a result, party organizations were formed in the units of the KPRA and in the vast areas at home and abroad and they were organizationally connected with the headquarters of the Korean revolution, with the result that the President's leadership, the Party's leadership over the general Korean revolution was realized with success.
    The President, who made the historic root and the solid foundation for the party founding in the days of the hard-fought anti-Japanese war, founded the revolutionary party that would unswervingly lead the Korean revolution to the victory on October 10, 1945 right after the liberation of the country.
    Today the Korean people, rallied close around Kim Jong Il, are vigorously striving to develop the WPK as Kim Il Sung's Party for ever.

Single-minded Unity, Source of Invincible Power

   Pyongyang, October 9 (KCNA) -- The secret of the successful advance of the cause of the Korean revolution lies in the might of the single-minded unity of the army and people rallied close around the Workers' Party of Korea.
    　The Korean people with deep emotion are looking back on how the unbreakable single-minded unity has been achieved under the leadership of Kim Jong Il on the occasion of the 62nd anniversary of the WPK.
    　Kim Jong Il, regarding the single-hearted unity as the great foundation of the country, saw to it that the philosophy of comradeship based on the Juche-oriented outlook on the leader has been carried through and the whole society turned into a collective united as firm as rock with comradeship.
    　With his politics of love, trust and benevolence, he has achieved a harmonious whole of the party, leader and people, thus converting the whole society into a great family united in one ideology and will.
    　As a result, the Korean people overcame the manyfold difficulties in the period of the "Arduous March" and the forced march unprecedented in history with the strength of the single-minded unity and ushered in a new era of prosperity in the country.
    　They decisively frustrated the incessant political, economic and military pressure of the imperialist allied forces and defended the dignity and sovereignty of the nation with credit.
    　They successfully launched the artificial satellite "Kwangmyongsong No. 1," constructed a salt-producing base on the seashore of the East Sea and rearranged the fields covering hundreds of thousands of hectares into standardized ones. They also built the Kaechon-Lake Thaesong and Paekma-Cholsan Waterways, power stations, chicken farms, duck farms, basic foodstuff factories and goat farms across the country. All these are the great fruit of the single-minded unity of the whole army and people.

Collection of Literary Works "Sons of Mangyongdae" Off Press

   Pyongyang, October 9 (KCNA) -- A collection of literary works "Sons of Mangyongdae" was published by the Educational Books Publishing House to commemorate the 60th founding anniversary of the Mangyongdae Revolutionary School.
    The book contains among other works words of song "Song of Best Wish", child poems "Portrait" and "Our Leader", immortal classic masterpieces created by Kim Jong Il at the Mangyongdae Revolutionary School during the last Fatherland Liberation War.
    It carries more than 180 works including lyrics, epics, words of songs, nursery songs, child poems, essays, compositions and short stories created by teachers and students of the school on the occasion.

Russian Embassy Officials Help Korean Farmers

   Pyongyang, October 9 (KCNA) -- Russian Ambassador to the DPRK Valery E. Sukhinin and his embassy officials helped the members of the DPRK-Russia Friendship Kochang Cooperative Farm in Chollima County in rice harvesting on October 9.
    During break they sang songs together with farmers and talked to one another, deepening the friendship.
    The ambassador said that it is pleasure to visit the friendship farm at the significant time when the 62nd founding anniversary of the Workers' Party of Korea and the 59th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between the two countries are marked, hoping that the farm will register greater success in agricultural production.
    The embassy officials handed aid materials to the farm.

Projected U.S.-led Joint Naval Exercises under Fire

   Pyongyang, October 9 (KCNA) -- The United States will stage PSI joint naval exercises in the waters off Japan in the East Sea of Korea from October 13 with seven countries including Japan involved, according to foreign press reports.
    This is a grave military provocation to the DPRK as it is one more expression of the hostile policy pursued by the U.S. and Japan toward the DPRK. Minju Joson Tuesday says this in a signed commentary.
    It goes on:
    The projected maneuvers self-expose their invariable sinister intention to isolate and suffocate the DPRK militarily.
    The military exercises to be staged by the U.S. against the DPRK with its satellite forces involved at a politically sensitive time when confidence building among dialogue partners is more urgently required than ever before go to prove that the U.S. ballyhooed "dialogue" and "improved relations" are nothing but sophism intended to deceive the DPRK.
    The U.S. is talking about "peaceful settlement" of the nuclear issue and "improved relations" with the DPRK but it is, in actuality, more interested in boosting the "U.S.-Japan alliance" aimed at stifling the DPRK militarily.
    The Japanese reactionaries are also pushing ahead with increased fever with the policy of militarist overseas expansion pursuant to the U.S. deep-rooted hostile policy toward the DPRK.
    The joint naval maneuvers projected by the U.S. and Japan under the pretext of "preventing the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction" are aimed to ensure the operation of the U.S. forces and the Japan "Self-Defence Forces" for naval blockade against the DPRK at a high level in the event of contingency and round off the capabilities of the armed forces of the two countries for joint military actions, in particular.
    The above-said U.S.-Japan joint naval exercises can be interpreted as part of the preparations for the second Korean war and its execution.
    If the U.S. and Japan choose a military option at any cost contrary to the unanimous expectation and desire of the international community, the army and people of the DPRK will take proper retaliatory actions against them.

June 15 Joint Declaration, Landmark for Independent Reunification

   Pyongyang, October 9 (KCNA) -- The June 15 joint declaration is the landmark for independent reunification which the Korean nation should always uphold in developing the inter-Korean relations and reunifying the country, declares Rodong Sinmun in an article Tuesday.
    Noting that the joint declaration indicates a realistic way of applying the principle of national independence by the efforts of the nation itself in accomplishing the cause of national reunification, the author of the article says, and goes on:
    The idea of "By our nation itself" contained in the joint declaration is the hardcore of the joint declaration. Represented in it is the resolute idea of national self-determination to achieve the reunification of the country by the nation's own efforts.
    The question of national reunification, an internal issue of the nation, cannot be resolved in conformity with the will and interests of the nation by submitting to and relying on outside forces. The reunification of the country can be achieved under all circumstances only when the will and interests of the nation are put before everything and everything is oriented to it in the spirit of "By our nation itself".
    The idea of "By our nation itself" reflects the purpose and desire of the members of the nation to get united as fellow countrymen of the same ancestry, regardless of differences in idea, ideal and system.
    The Korean nation has created one cultural tradition with one language, inheriting the same blood for long five thousand years. It can well achieve unity, if it depends on its character and patriotic spirit.
    The validity and vitality of the joint declaration have been proved clearly in practice.
    It is thanks to the joint declaration that the Korean nation, over the last seven years, has brought the changes of the times-- reconciliation, unity and national cooperation--putting an end to distrust and confrontation through a nationwide patriotic movement for reunification. It has laid a solid foundation to rejoin the nation's severed blood and territorial veins and open up a new era of reunification and prosperity by the efforts of the nation itself.
    Immovable is the status of the joint declaration. The reunification movement of the Korean nation which has entered a period of new upswing will certainly emerge victorious when it dynamically advances along the road of national independence and the road of national unity indicated by the joint declaration.

Birthday of WPK Celebrated

   Pyongyang, October 9 (KCNA) -- Meetings, a lecture, photo exhibitions and film shows took place in Pakistan, Uganda and Ethiopia on October 1 and 2 on the occasion of the 62nd founding anniversary of the Workers' Party of Korea.
    Displayed in the venues of the functions were photos showing the exploits of Kim Jong Il.
    Zabed Ansari, secretary general of the Karachi Branch of the Pakistan－Korea Friendship Association, in his address at the meeting said that all victories and successes achieved by the WPK would have been unthinkable without President Kim Il Sung. He noted that the President has always found the key to all victories in strengthening the party and led the revolution and construction to victory with the party as a powerful weapon.
    S.N. Sserwanga, secretary general of the African Regional Committee of Friendship and Solidarity with the Korean People, in his address at the meeting stressed that the successes achieved by the people of the DPRK are the results of the tested leadership of the WPK which was founded by Kim Il Sung and is now led by Kim Jong Il.
    Tatek Kassa, chairperson of the Addis Ababa Youth Association of Ethiopia, at the lecture said that the WPK serves as a beacon of hope for the progressive political parties as it is invincible militant ranks leading the cause of global independence.
    The participants of the film shows watched Korean films "The great leader Comrade Kim Jong Il gives field guidance to different fields" and "For the liberation of the country."
    A message of greetings to Kim Jong Il was adopted at the meeting held in Pakistan.

Kim Jong Il's Immortal Exploits Praised

   Pyongyang, October 9 (KCNA) -- Figures of political parties of different countries who visited the DPRK highly praised the immortal exploits performed by Kim Jong Il in developing the Workers' Party of Korea into an invincible party.
    Saaeed Eleia Dawood, director of the Organizational Department of the Regional Leadership of Syria's Baath Arab Socialist Party, said that Kim Jong Il has energetically led the work for strengthening and developing the WPK and the Korean people closely rallied around the WPK have performed feats in the struggle to build a great prosperous powerful nation.
    Ricardo Cantu Garza, coordinator of the National Coordinating Committee of the Workers' Party of Mexico, said that his party has earnestly learnt from the precious successes and experience gained by the WPK, adding that the relations of friendship between the two parties forged in the joint struggle against imperialism would grow stronger in the future.
    Lu Hao, secretary of the Gansu Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China, said that the Communist Party and people of China wish the WPK and the Korean people closely rallied around it greater progress in their struggle, noting that the Korean people have achieved great successes in different fields with the might of single-minded unity and in the spirit of self-reliance and fortitude, upholding the leadership of the WPK with Kim Jong Il as its general secretary.

Meeting Held to Mark 60th Anniversary of UDKWJ

   Tokyo, October 7 (KNS-KCNA) -- A meeting took place in Tokyo on October 5 to mark the 60th anniversary of the formation of the Union of Democratic Korean Women in Japan (UDKWJ).
    Present there were So Man Sul, chairman of the Central Standing Committee of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon), Jong Thae Mun, director of the Department of General Affairs of the Central Standing Committee of Chongryon, officials of the union and Korean women in Japan.
    Read out at the meeting were congratulatory messages from the Central Committee of the Korean Democratic Women's Union, organizations in south Korea, overseas and in Japan.
    So Man Sul, addressing the meeting, said the UDKWJ had gained precious successes in developing itself into a reliable organization of overseas women citizens of the DPRK by closely rallying broad strata of Korean women around the organization and conducting a vigorous patriotic movement over the last six decades.
    He called for a more strenuous movement among the Koreans of different social standings to defend and expand the national rights of Koreans in Japan in the future.
    Kang Chu Ryon, chairwoman of the Central Standing Committee of the UDKWJ, in her report at the meeting, said the benevolent love shown by President Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il in leading the union, lighting its way in each period, would not be forgotten, no matter how much water may flow under the bridge.
    She said the union would strengthen its branches and sub-branches and firmly build up itself into a broader organization by conducting an all-people "movement to invite Koreans to come to the fold of Chongryon" set forth at the 21st Congress of Chongryon.
    A letter to Kim Jong Il was adopted at the meeting.
