Pyongyang, October 15 (KCNA) -- The Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea on October 14 sent a congratulatory message to the 17th Congress of the Communist Party of China.
The message said the CPC, over the last five years following the 16th Congress, set forth the principle of people first and governance for the people, a view on scientific development, the construction of a harmonious socialist society and other new lines and policies and powerfully aroused all the people in the work to put them into practice, thereby opening an important phase of the cause of socialist modernization with Chinese characteristics and has achieved great successes in the struggle to reunify the whole country and defend global peace.

Pyongyang, October 15 (KCNA) -- General Secretary Kim Jong Il was presented with a floral basket by a delegation of Japanese scholars for the study of the Juche idea on a visit to the DPRK.
The basket was handed to an official concerned by Takao Kamakura, director of board of the International Institute of the Juche Idea who is leading the delegation, on Oct. 15.
Rodong Sinmun on Characteristics of Present Era
Pyongyang, October 15 (KCNA) -- Kim Jong Il's proposition that "The present era is an era of independence in which the popular masses have emerged as the master of their destiny and the master dominating the world" defines the characteristics of the present era as an era of independence in which the popular masses have made their appearance as the master of their destiny and the master dominating the world. This definition by Kim Jong Il is the most correct classic one based on a comprehensive analysis of the present world situation fundamentally different from the past period with the Juche-based viewpoint and stand.
The sophism of the imperialists who described the abnormal development in the form of the collapse of socialism in some countries in the late 1980s and the early 1990s of the last century as "bankruptcy of the cause of independence" and "end of socialism" was an anachronistic hokum of fools to deny hard historical reality and the law governing the development of humankind.
The present era is an era in which the idea of independence is winning and its main trend is characterized by Songun.
The popular masses are firmly standing in the center of the development of the history in the present era. Holding aloft Banner of Songun Called for
Pyongyang, October 15 (KCNA) -- The imperialists' true nature will never change no matter how much water may flow under the bridge.
If there be any change, the imperialists have become more crafty and vicious in their methods of aggression and plunder.

A war of aggression launched by the imperialists is an expression of their policy of strength toward other countries while their ideological and cultural poisoning and psychological warfare mean a war of conquest without a gun report.
It is a sinister intention of the imperialists to realize with ease their ambition for aggression after forcing the people of other countries to disarm themselves ideologically. A concession made by a country to the imperialists over the issue of the working class stand, taken in by their crafty ploy, would put it in the danger of losing even the gains of the revolution won at the cost of blood. To slacken the working class awareness, unable to discern the true nature of the imperialists, is little short of digging one's own grave.
The imperialists worked out a long-term strategy to stifle the DPRK which is holding high the banner of socialism and have worked hard to realize it. If a country makes a concession, the imperialists force it to make another concession and if it steps back, they come out with stronger demand. This is a trite method employed by them.
The recent developments on the international arena go to clearly prove that there is no other option but to fight the imperialists out from a tough stand.
The people in the DPRK wrought such a historical miracle as defending Korean-style socialism in the showdown with the imperialist allied forces single-handedly in the 1990s and have dynamically stepped up the drive to build a great prosperous powerful country, foiling the imperialists' vicious moves against the DPRK. They could do this because they have followed the road of Songun, attaching importance to the arms.
Adherence to Three Principles of National Reunification Called for
Pyongyang, October 15 (KCNA) -- The three principles of national reunification, which have propelled the victorious advance of the cause of independent national reunification, are the bottom line of the reality in which a new phase has been brought about in the development of the inter-Korean relations and national reunification thanks to the June 15 joint declaration and in the spirit of "By our nation itself".

The three principles of national reunification--independence, peaceful reunification and great national unity--laid down by President Kim Il Sung in Juche 61 (1972) serve as a cornerstone for Korea's reunification as they indicate the fundamental stand and basic ways for settling the issue of national reunification in accordance with the will and interests of the nation by its concerted efforts. And they are a great programme for reunification common to the nation which the north and the south confirmed and solemnly declared at home and abroad through the July 4 joint statement.
The above-said principles clarify the principled problem, the guiding principle for most properly solving the issue of national reunification in keeping with the wishes and interests of the Koreans and the specific circumstances and conditions of the country.
The three principles put forward by the President have vigorously encouraged and promoted the cause of independent national reunification, receiving absolute support of all the Koreans as a great programme for reunification common to the nation for the last several decades for their validity and vitality. They brought to this land at last a new era of independent reunification, the June 15 era of reunification.
There are still a lot of trials and difficulties in the way of national reunification. But the cause of independent reunification is sure to be accomplished as the Koreans have the above-said three principles and hold Kim Jong Il in high esteem as the loadstar of national reunification.
Immortal Feats Performed in Revolutionary Party Building
Pyongyang, October 15 (KCNA) -- The Korean people with deep emotion are recollecting the immortal feats performed by Kim Jong Il who provided the important guideline for building a revolutionary party in his famous work "On the Fundamentals of Revolutionary Party Building" in October Juche 81 (1992).
The work was made public when the collapse of the former Eastern European socialist countries and the disintegration of the Soviet Union caused confusion in the ranks of the world socialist movement and socialist political parties of some countries and proclaimed their winding-up.

Many Visitors to Kimilsungia-Kimjongilia Exhibition
Pyongyang, October 15 (KCNA) -- An unbroken stream of servicemen and working people, school youth and children has flown to the Kimilsungia-Kimjongilia Exhibition on the occasions of anniversaries in October.
On display in the exhibition are hundreds of potted Kimilsungias and Kimjongilias that have come into bloom since Oct. 7.
Models of the Tower of the Juche Idea and the Monument to Party Founding showing the glorious history of the Workers' Party of Korea are standing in the hall where flowers of the sun are on show.
Among the visitors were the military attaches corps in Pyongyang, members of the delegation of the Organization for the Study of the Juche Idea of Thailand and other foreigners from various countries around the world including China, Russia, Canada, Australia and Japan.
Korean Susok Association
Pyongyang, October 15 (KCNA) -- The activities of the Korean Susok Association get brisk when October is ushered in.
The association with susok (naturally-formed rocks and stones) experts and amateurs is conducting various activities such as collection of curious stones, dissemination of scientific and technological knowledge on it and external exchange.
It sponsored a national susok exhibition in Pyongyang some time ago to diffuse common knowledge on susok.
It has built exhibition halls in different parts of the country to display and appraise naturally-formed curious stones with ornamental and antique value.
The DPRK is rich in susok resources as it has many rivers, streams and mountain valleys as well as long coast lines, Kim Chang Ryong, chairman of the association, said and went on:

U.S. Forces Deploy Warplanes to Be Ready to Go into Action
Pyongyang, October 15 (KCNA) -- The warlike elements of the U.S. imperialist aggression forces are nowadays busying themselves deploying warplanes in and around south Korea to be ready to go into action against the DPRK, according to a military source.
On Oct. 10 they deployed four B-2s together with a KC-135 in the Anderson air-force base in Guam after bringing them from the U.S. mainland to it.
It is said that the B-2s will perform the same mission as done by B-52 which had been on the island so far.
In another development, the U.S. imperialists sent overseas-based F-15, F/A-18, EA-6B and E-2Cs to the sky above areas of south Korea almost everyday after inducting more F-16s into the 8th combat flying corps of the U.S. imperialist aggression forces in south Korea to conduct madcap war exercises in coordinated operation with warplanes based in south Korea.
All this suggests that they are keen to mount physical attacks on the DPRK unless it meets the gangster-like demand they have raised at the "dialogue" and "negotiations" while escalating the moves to isolate and stifle it.

Birthday of WPK Observed in Different Countries
Pyongyang, October 15 (KCNA) -- Round-table talks, book and photo exhibitions and film shows were held by the Pan-African Movement and in Egypt and the Czech Republic from Oct. 1 to 4 on the occasions of the 62nd founding anniversary of the Workers' Party of Korea and the 81st anniversary of the formation of the Down-with-Imperialism Union.
Speeches were made at the round-table talks.
The director for Political Affairs and International Relations of the Pan-African Movement highly praised the undying feats performed by President Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il in founding the WPK and developing it.
The chairman of the Misr Arab Socialist Party of Egypt stated that his party would as ever positively support the WPK in its just struggle for accomplishing the causes of national reunification, socialism and global independence.
The executive secretary of the Central Committee of the Czech, Moravian, Silesian Trade Unions' Association said the WPK is a mass party deeply rooted among the people, adding that it will emerge victorious as it always enjoys unquestioned support of the people.
Genaro Ledesma Izquieta, chairman of the People's Front of Workers, Peasants and Students of Peru, made public a statement on Oct. 5 on the occasion of the 62nd anniversary of the WPK.
In the statement he noted that the WPK has developed as the true motherly party of all the Korean people and the DPRK has achieved world-startling successes in the struggle for socialist construction and national reunification. We will further strengthen solidarity with the WPK and the Korean people in their indomitable struggles in the future, too, he stated.
Fascist Acts of Japanese Authorities against Koreans in Japan Denounced
Pyongyang, October 15 (KCNA) -- The General Association of Koreans in China issued a statement on October 8 denouncing the Japanese authorities' brutal suppression of Koreans in Japan.
The statement noted that the Japanese authorities were intensifying malicious "sanctions" against the DPRK while committing unheard-of human rights abuses against Koreans in Japan, hating the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon), the lawful overseas Koreans' organization, as a thorn in their flesh.
The Japanese reactionaries let loose gangsters to search Chongryon and its related setups and, as if it were not enough, they set in motion the readjustment and recollection tool in an indiscreet attempt to seize even the Central Hall of Chongryon, the statement said.
Recalling that the Japanese reactionaries banned the portcall of the ship Mangyongbong-92 and blocked even the patriotic and humanitarian work of Koreans in Japan to send aid materials to people in the homeland who had suffered flood damage, it declared:
The General Association of Koreans in China and all the Koreans in China bitterly denounce with towering national resentment the anachronistic fascist acts of the Japanese authorities.

Los imperialistas calificaron del "fracaso de la causa de independencia" y el "fin del socialismo" el estado anormal: la frustracion del socialismo en unos paises de finales de la decada de los 80 y a principios de la decada de los 90 del siglo XX. Esto no pasa de ser una peroracion anacronica de los ingenuos quienes pretenden negar la realidad historica y la ley de desarrollo de la humanidad.
La actual es la epoca en que triunfa el ideal de la independencia y su corriente principal se caracteriza por el Songun (priorizacion militar).

Pyongyang, 15 de octubre (ATCC) -- El Comite Central del Partido del Trabajo de Corea envio el dia 14 un mensaje de felicitacion al XVII Congreso del Partido Comunista de China.
