Japan's Militarist Moves for Overseas Expansion under Fire
Pyongyang, October 23 (KCNA) -- The Japanese reactionaries' attempt to completely legalize the advance of the Japan "Self-Defense Forces (SDF)" overseas comes under fire by a signed commentary of Minju Joson Tuesday.
It says:
The Liberal Democratic Party of Japan is busy working out a new bill calling for extending the "law on special measures against terrorism" as it is expected to expire on Nov. 1 this year.
According to the bill the drafting of which is almost completed, the LDP laid down the principle calling for limiting the Maritime SDF's logistic activities in the Indian Ocean to supply of oil and drinking water to warships of other countries and not supplying oil to supply ships of the U.S. carrier due to the suspicion that the oil supply to the carrier might be diverted to the purpose of operations against Iraq.
Meanwhile, opposition parties have taken a fresh step in this respect by asserting that Japan should stop oil supply in the Indian Ocean and join, instead, in the military activities of the NATO-led international security volunteers in Afghanistan.
Judging from the assertions of the ruling and opposition parties of Japan, it is clear that they share the same view that it is necessary to quickly lay a legal foundation for military activities of the SDF overseas.
It is sheer nonsense for Japan to claim that it stands for overseas advance because the SDF is interested in the peace and humanitarian activities overseas.
It is the calculation of the Japanese reactionaries that Japan can neither increase its influence and say in settling international issues nor secure a hegemonic position in the region, in particular, as long as the SDF is detained inside the country.
For this reason, they are keen to boost the SDF's military capability to the maximum and send its beefed-up troops overseas in a bid not to lose the chance to meddle in international affairs but bring the Asian region under their military control.
This is evidenced by the facts that Japan is contemplating staging test-firing interceptor missile SM-3 mounted on Aegis "Kongo" in the waters off Hawaii in December and busying itself with the moves to make a legislation for the advance of the SDF overseas.
This tells that Japan's militarist moves for overseas expansion have reached a very serious stage and they are fraught with potential danger.
Japan's overseas expansion after emerging a military giant precisely means a war, warns the commentary.

U.S. Reckless Arms Buildup under Fire
Pyongyang, October 23 (KCNA) -- The director of the Missile Defense Agency of the U.S. Defense Department blustered some days ago that the U.S. moves to set up the missile defense system (MD) are aimed at coping with the "threat from such rogue states as north Korea."
Rodong Sinmun Tuesday in a signed commentary carried in this regard observes that his outbursts were prompted by the U.S. sinister plan to bolster the preemptive attack forces of the U.S. troops in and around the Korean Peninsula and thus provoke the second Korean war.
Recalling that the U.S. bellicose forces have amassed sophisticated military hardware and war means in and around the peninsula, the commentary goes on:
It is in pursuance of the above-said plan that the department has recently deployed mobile missile chasing equipment for the first time in Japan, raising a hue and cry over "missile threat" from the DPRK.
Timed to coincide with this move, the department transferred KC-135 and four B-2s to the Anderson U.S. air-force base in Guam from its mainland and it began deploying F-16s of improved version in its air-force bases in south Korea.
The U.S. bellicose forces are asserting that these military moves are aimed at countering the DPRK's moves to bolster its missile forces.
This is, however, nothing but sheer sophism intended to justify their arms build-up escalated to start a war under the non-existent "missile threat" from the DPRK. In escalating their campaigns to isolate and pressurize the DPRK, the U.S. bellicose forces seek to take a physical option against it if their gangster-like demand lurking behind their loudmouthed "peace" and "dialogue" does not work on it. But such U.S. double-dealing tactics can never go down with the DPRK.
The U.S. frantic moves to establish the MD are creating a dangerous situation in and around the Korean Peninsula where the military equilibrium may be upset and a new arms race may rage.
The U.S. would be well advised to see through the seriousness and danger of the present situation and stop at once its reckless and adventurous moves for a war against the DPRK.
