Japanese Militarists' Moves for Overseas Aggression under Fire
Pyongyang, October 25 (KCNA) -- The Japanese militarist forces are going more reckless in their bid to realize their ambition for overseas aggression by taking advantage of the prevailing situation where the balance of forces have changed on the international arena since the end of the Cold War and the U.S. has become evermore undisguised in its "war on terrorism."
Rodong Sinmun Thursday observes this in a signed article.
The Japanese militarists are availing themselves of all opportunities and conditions to realize the old dream of the "Greater East Asia Co-Prosperity Sphere" which they failed to do in the past, the article says, and goes on:
The Liberal Democratic Party and the ruling forces are contemplating instituting a new law to replace a "law on special measures against terrorism" in a bid to legally dispatch the "Self-Defence Forces" (SDF) to areas necessitated by them overseas for operation without getting the Diet approval. The proposed new law differs from the present law in that it restricts the SDF's search and support to disaster-stricken people, confines its activities to oil and water supply to warships of other countries and limits the period of the proposed law to one year.
The Democratic Party, too, is opposed to extension of the "law on special measures against terrorism" but stands for the SDF's overseas military operations its own way. This party seeks to expand overseas military operations by letting the SDF join the "international security forces" created according to a resolution of the UN Security Council in December 2001, not favoring the SDF's dispatch overseas in line with the above-said law.
The Japanese reactionaries' loudmouthed "Japan's contribution to peace" is, in essence, a slogan for overseas aggression and for a war to conquer the world. They are working hard to let the SDF conduct overseas military operations for aggression unhindered under the pretext of "contribution to global peace." Lurking behind this call is their sinister intention to launch reinvasion. The materialization of this intention would put global peace and security at greater peril.
The Japanese militarists' moves for reinvasion are inching close to a danger line.
All Koreans Called upon to Remain True to Idea of "By Our Nation Itself"
Pyongyang, October 25 (KCNA) -- The movement for national reunification is greeting a new heyday under the banner of "By our nation itself", declares Rodong Sinmun Thursday in a signed article.
The Korean nation will before long put an end to the long history of national division and greet the new morning of independent reunification in this land resplendent with the august name of President Kim Il Sung and proud of the dignity of the great brilliant commander of Songun, it notes, and goes on:
"By our nation itself" means warm national ties linking Mt. Paektu and Mt. Halla and a powerful driving force uniting the Koreans as one.
It is associated with the history of noble patriotism cherished by the peerlessly great men.
The idea of "By our nation itself" is the result of the unshakable conviction and will of Kim Jong Il to carry out the last instructions of the President on reunification at any cost, means a reunification programme based on his noble patriotic idea and an ever-victorious signpost promising a brilliant victory of the cause of reunification.
How to approach the idea of "By our nation itself" precisely means a touchstone distinguishing a patriot from a traitor.
This idea helps usher in a new era of national reunification and prosperity by dint of the ties and history of a homogeneous nation. Today all the Koreans stake their destiny on this idea, enshrining the truth that they will win when united and suffer a defeat when dispersed.
How ardently one loves the nation shows what strong patriotic will one has to free the nation from misfortune and sufferings. One's devoted service to the nation means how totally one is dedicated to the cause of reunification. If one swims with the trend of the June 15 era of reunification, one will become a patriot, but if one fails to do so, one will become a social outcast in the times.
Names of Places to Be Conveyed along with Songun Era
Pyongyang, October 25 (KCNA) -- Many steep heights and posts, towns and villages, big and small, have become famous in the DPRK as the witness of the Songun revolutionary history of Kim Jong Il, the brilliant commander of Mt. Paektu. Among them are the Tapaksol Post (covered with branchy young pine trees), Chol Pass, Mt. Osong, Kanggye, Thaechon, Poman-ri and others.
In the grim trial period when the destiny of the country was at stake, he overcame the severe difficulties with the People's Army as the pillar of the revolution, covering the long journey for Songun all along.
He called on the soldiers on Cho Island in the teeth of rough sea and found precious time to wait for a soldier in the blizzards on Chol Pass. There had been created so many legend-like stories showing the closest ties between the Supreme Commander and the soldiers.
The love for and trust in the people shown by him while visiting many units during the unprecedented "Arduous March" and the forced march constituted the motive force which enabled them to bridge over the grave trials and make a breakthrough for the building of a great, prosperous and powerful nation.
The Kanggye Spirit was created by his energetic field guidance to Jagang Province made in the coldest period of the winter. And the torch of Songgang and Ranam and the Thaechon spirit brought about miracles and innovations in the building of the great, prosperous and powerful socialist nation.
Taehongdan County located in northern highland of the country is associated with stories about the paternal love of Kim Jong Il who led the efforts to make an innovation in the potato farming and dropped in a house of discharged soldiers and named the child to be born.
The army and people of Korea hardened their faith in a brighter future, following his long journey for Songun. They rearranged land of the country as large-sized standard fields and built tremendous edifices in different parts including the gravity-fed irrigation channels and large hydro-power stations.
Such famous places associated with an iron-like faith and pluck of Kim Jong Il to bring President Kim Il Sung's plan for building a rich and powerful nation into practice and his warm love and devotion for the people will be long conveyed down through history.

Art experts say in unison that it is hard to see such young boys as Hyok Song who performs well the various kinds of musical instruments and his part in any ensemble.
Even foreigners and overseas Koreans who visited the DPRK marveled at his technique of skillfully playing musical instruments.

A special resolution read out at the meeting stated that the long march of the 70 million fellow countrymen toward the prosperous era of reunification and the era of peace free from the U.S. forces is forcefully approaching its terminal. The victory of the nation on this road is certain, it declared.
It noted that the U.S. and the pro-U.S. conservatives are running amuck in the efforts to place the Grand National Party in power, dreaming of return to the era of the Cold War and fascism against this trend.
It expressed the determination to create a socio-political climate for national reunification and the pullout of U.S. forces by waging a pan-national movement for the full implementation of the June 15 joint declaration and, through this, build a grand alliance front against the conservatives so as to check without fail the attempts of the GNP to grab power.
