Talks Held between Premier of DPRK and Prime Minister of Malaysia
Kuala Lumpur, October 31 (KCNA Correspondent) -- Talks were held between Kim Yong Il, premier of the DPRK Cabinet, and Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, Prime Minister of Malaysia, in Kuala Lumpur on Oct. 31.
Present there from the DPRK side were Minister of Foreign Trade Rim Kyong Man, Minister of Agriculture Ri Kyong Sik, Acting Chairman of the Korean Committee for Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries Mun Jae Chol, Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs Kim Yong Il and DPRK Ambassador to Malaysia Pak Ryong Yon.
Present there from the Malaysian side were Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Syed Hamid Albar, Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Tan Sri Rastam Mohd Isa, Malaysian Charge d' Affaires a.i. to the DPRK Jamal Sharifuddin Bin Johan and others.
At the talks both sides exchanged views on the issue of boosting the friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries and a series of issues of mutual concern.
The talks proceeded in a friendly atmosphere.
Gu Xiulian Meets Delegation of Rodong Sinmun
Pyongyang, October 31 (KCNA) -- Gu Xiulian, vice-chairperson of the Standing Committee of the Chinese National People's Congress, met and conversed with the delegation of Rodong Sinmun led by its Deputy Editor-in-Chief Pak Jong Nam on a visit to China at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on October 30.
Saying that China and the DPRK are friendly neighbors linked with the same mountain and rivers and the Sino-Korean friendship is traditional friendship sealed in blood, she stressed that the Chinese party, government and people attach importance to the friendship, cooperation and exchange with the DPRK.
The friendship provided by revolutionaries of the elder generation of the two countries has steadily grown stronger under the care of the top leaders of the two countries, she said.
China rejoices over the successes made by the Korean people in the work to develop economy and improve the standard of people's living under the wise leadership of Kim Jong Il and wishes them greater success in the work, she added.
Greetings to Algerian President
Pyongyang, October 31 (KCNA) -- Kim Yong Nam, president of the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly, sent a message of greetings to Abdelaziz Bouteflika, President of the Algerian Democratic and People's Republic, on Oct. 25 on the occasion of the 53rd anniversary of the start of the Algerian revolution.
Reiterating full support and solidarity with the national reconciliation policy of the president and the government of Algeria for the country's stability and unity, Kim in the message expressed the belief that the friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries would steadily grow stronger.
KCNA Terms Japan's Solicitation Ridiculous
Pyongyang, October 31 (KCNA) -- Japan is busy with mediocre diplomacy over the "abduction issue".
Shortly ago, Foreign Minister Komura was reported to have implored the U.S. ambassador to Japan to "shelve the delisting of North Korea as a terrorist sponsor unless progress is made in the settlement of the 'abduction issue.'"
The "Dietmen's League for the Solution to the Abduction Issue" made up of super-partisan Dietmen also begged other countries to cooperate in the efforts to solve the issue, uttering that it is badly required to put pressure upon the DPRK.
This is nothing but a crafty and impudent act peculiar to Japan as it is accustomed to pulling up others on the basis of sheer lies.
Japan is under legal and moral obligations to honestly redress its inglorious past before talking about the "abduction issue" because it brought untold misfortune and pain to the Korean people including the hideous forcible drafting and the crimes related to the "comfort women" for the Imperial Japanese Army.
It is preposterous, indeed, for Japan to persistently vociferate about the "abduction issue," which had already found a solution. Irony is that Japan is busy painting itself as a victim, while shutting its eyes to its crime-woven past.
Japan's oft-repeated hue and cry over the "abduction issue" is aimed to shirk off its responsibility to redeem its past crimes come what may.
The reality clearly proves that Japan's much touted "abduction issue" would only bring its despicable political and moral nature into bolder relief and invite thorough international isolation.
Academic Degrees or Titles Conferred on Intellectuals
Pyongyang, October 31 (KCNA) -- DPRK academic degrees or titles were conferred on intellectuals who have made signal contributions to the scientific research and the educational work.
A ceremony of awarding the degrees and titles took place on Tuesday.
At the ceremony, the title of candidate academician was awarded to Kang Min Gi, a teacher of the University of Science.
And academic title of professor was conferred on Jong Chang Sik, a researcher of Kim Il Sung University, Pak Ji Min, chief of a department of Kim Chaek University of Technology, Han Yong Gol, a researcher of Pyongyang University of Construction and Building Materials Production, Kwon Thae San, a researcher of Pyongyang University of Foreign Studies, and others.
Doctor's degree went to Rim Ho, vice dean of a faculty of Kim Il Sung University, Kim Yong Jo, room chief of Kim Chaek University of Technology, Kim Yun Gyo, chief of a department of Kim Hyong Jik University of Education, and others, title of associate professor to 148 persons and master's degree to 614 persons.
Public Presentation and Academic Symposium Held
Pyongyang, October 31 (KCNA) -- A scientific and technological presentation in the field of minor power stations and the 3rd national academic symposium on Kyongrak study took place under the sponsorship of the Central Committee of the Korean General Federation of Science and Technology.
The participants of the public presentation held at Kim Chaek University of Technology heard more than 80 papers on the successful solution of scientific and technological problems arising in the construction and operation of minor power stations which are of weighty significance in settling the nation's problem of acute shortage of electricity.
The participants of the academic symposium on Kyongrak study held at the Academy of Koryo Medicine heard dozens of papers which explained and proved the successes made in the researches into scientifically systematizing the main Kyongrak theory of Koryo medicine and applying it to clinical practice.
Peasant Music and Dance Performance Encouraged in DPRK
Pyongyang, October 31 (KCNA) -- The Korean people have been fond of peasant music and dance performance from old times.
It reflects the aspiration of the peasants to relieve their fatigue and have a good time during breaks.
The Korean people had sowed seeds, tended crops and beat back invaders, listening to the peasant music from ancient times.
It was called Phungjaeng in a sense of wishing rich harvest, Kolgung in a sense of giving performance tour of villages to raise funds needed for joint work and others.
The peasant music and dance performance was also given in sports and amusement games on holidays.
The main instruments for the peasant music included gong, small gong, janggo (a long Korean drum that tapers in the middle), drum and small drum and was supplemented by saenap (a Korean brass wind instrument) in modern ages.
Members of the peasant music and dance performance consist of players of musical instruments and masked dancers.
The costume of the performers was the simple peasant one at the first but was changed along with its development in the later half of the Ri Dynasty.

The functional kimchi is made with the help of kimchi lactobacilli which has a high capacity of producing gamma-aminobutyric acid.
Kimchi is abundant in various kinds of vitamins including vitamins C, B1, B2, B12 and PP, amino acid and minerals needed for the human body.
With the clarification of the medicinal effect of gamma-aminobutyric acid, kimchi is getting further popular.

Pyongyang, October 31 (KCNA) -- The unity of army and people in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea has reached a new high stage under the Songun politics.
The army and people firmly ensure the unity in ideology and trait of work and are solidly united with true comradely relations on the road of upholding the Songun leadership of the Workers' Party of Korea. It is the true feature of the army-people unity in Korea.
Kim Jong Il said that there could not be any kind of breach and distrust in the kindred ties between the army and the people and it was his philosophy in the army-people relationship. He had directed deep attention to realizing the army-people unity in those days of the Songun leadership.
He newly formulated the essence of the army-people unity, saying that what is main in the unity is to ensure their unity in ideology and trait of work. He saw to it that the good deeds in the army-people relations have been generalized in the whole army and servicepersons took lead in realizing the army-people unity.

Over 170 Cases of Aerial Espionage Committed against DPRK
Pyongyang, October 31 (KCNA) -- More than 170 cases of aerial espionage were committed against the DPRK in October of which over 110 by the U.S. imperialist aggression forces and more than 60 by the south Korean forces, according to a military source.
A south Korea-based U-2 perpetrated 25 cases of aerial espionage against the DPRK.
The U.S. imperialists sent 3 or 4 RC-7Bs and RC-12s to the air over the areas along the Military Demarcation Line (MDL) every day for aerial observation and photographing of the areas of the DPRK side.
On Oct. 19 an overseas-based RC-135 flew in the air over south Korea to perpetrate aerial espionage against the DPRK. Overseas based EP-3 committed similar acts on Oct. 15 and 17.
The south Korean military warlike forces let RC-800s and RF-4Cs fly every day to perpetrate various acts of espionage against the areas along the MDL of the DPRK side.
The ceaseless aerial espionage committed by the U.S. imperialists and the south Korean military bellicose forces against the DPRK are a blatant challenge to the "Declaration for the development of north-south relations and peace and prosperity." This clearly indicates that they are pursuing aggression and war only.
U.S. Push for Closer Military Tie-up with "Allies" under Fire
Pyongyang, October 31 (KCNA) -- The United States is these days tightening military collusion with its "allies."
Some time ago, the U.S. installed its first mobile missile tracking devices in Japan under the pretext of coping with the "missile threat" from the DPRK. U.S. troops are said to be posted at the joint ground tactical control station, which is a mobile information processing system deployed in Japan, to perform the duty of watching the DPRK.
On the other hand, the U.S. agreed with Israel to jointly develop a multistage missile defense system to intercept "long- and short-range missiles from Iran and Syria".
Commenting on this, a news analyst of Minju Joson Wednesday says:
This is proof of the desperate efforts of the U.S. to grab a definite military strategic edge at strategic vantages by the means of reinforcing the military cooperation system with its "allies."
The U.S. seeks to guarantee its monopolistic domination at strategic vantages worldwide by keeping a tight military grip on its "allies" in Northeast Asia and Middle East where the thrust of big powers is noticeably intensified.
It is the strategic consideration of the U.S. that it could constantly ensure its military influence in the given areas, if it bound Japan and Israel to a "military cooperation" system dubbed missile defence system under the cloak of their "security." This is the reason why the U.S. is kicking up quite a dust in establishing missile tracking devices in Japan and jointly developing a system for intercepting long- and short-range missiles with Israel under the pretext of "missile threat" from the DPRK, Iran and Syria.
This proves that there is no change in the real nature of the U.S. in seeking to dominate the world with strength.
The policy of military standoff and strategy for world supremacy will bring only catastrophic consequences to the U.S. itself.
Rodong Sinmun Calls for Spurs to Fulfilment of Three Tasks
Pyongyang, October 31 (KCNA) -- All the fellow countrymen in the north, the south and overseas should wage an intensive struggle to fulfil the three tasks--attaching importance to the nation, defending peace and achieving unity--with confidence in and optimism about national reunification and thus brilliantly adorn the movement for national reunification in this significant year, urges Rodong Sinmun in an article Wednesday.
It is the unanimous will of the members of the Korean nation to discharge their obligation and duty for the era and history by constantly putting spurs to the fulfilment of the three tasks, the author of the article says, and goes on:
The stand of attaching importance to the nation should be firmly maintained.
It is the basic stand the Korean nation should invariably maintain in the struggle to achieve national reunification as it is forced to the tragedy of national division by foreign forces.
The struggle for defending peace should be vigorously waged incessantly to thwart and frustrate the imperialist forces' moves for aggression and war and defend the peace of the country and the security of the nation.
The reunification of the country and the prosperity of the nation would be unthinkable without the struggle against aggression and war moves.
The Songun policy serves as a patriotic treasured sword for defending peace on the Korean Peninsula and the security of the nation and guaranteeing the victory of the movement for independent reunification. The Korean nation should absolutely support and firmly defend the Songun policy the validity and vitality of which have been fully proven in the practical struggle to defend peace.
Work should be done in high gear to achieve the unity of the whole nation.
There will be nothing fearful or impossible on earth, if all the fellow countrymen in the north, the south and overseas are closely united as one with the concerted efforts of the nation, regardless of differences in idea and ideal, political view, religious belief, class and stratum.

ATCC critica peticion miserable de Japon
Pyongyang, 31 de octubre (ATCC) -- Japon se porta mal pretextando el "problema del secuestro".
Hace poco tiempo, el canciller japones Komura solicito al embajador estadounidense acreditado en su pais que mientras que no se logre avance en la solucion del "problema del secuestro" posponga borrar al Norte de Corea de la lista de "paises que apoyan al terrorismo".
La llamada "federacion de parlamentarios por el problema del secuestro", integrada por los bicamerales ultrapartidistas, tambien pidio la cooperacion de otros paises en el mismo asunto, diciendo que ahora se necesita mas que nunca ejercer presion al Norte de Corea.
Tal conducta astuta y descarada es propia para el pais isleno acostumbrado a acusar a otro pais y desviar la opinion publica.
Antes de hablar del "problema del secuestro" Japon tiene el deber legal y moral de saldar su pasado criminal por haber cometido los crimenes de arresto forzoso a los coreanos y de "consoladoras sexuales" para el viejo ejercito japones y acarreado otras incontables desgracias y sufrimientos al pueblo coreano.
Sin embargo, sin hablar de su pasado lleno de crimenes, induce en error la opinion publica como si fuera "victima" su pais e insiste obstinadamente en el ya solucionado "problema del secuestro".
La verdadera intencion de Japon es evadir de todos modos la responsabilidad por la liquidacion del pasado criminal.
Pero, la realidad demuestra que cuanto mas cuestione Japon el "problema del secuestro", tanto mas se denigrara su reputacion politica y moral y se aislara en la arena internacional.
Minju Joson revela la confabulacion militar de EE.UU. y sus "aliados"
Pyongyang, 31 de octubre (ATCC) -- En estos dias Estados Unidos da espuelas a la confabulacion militar con sus "paises aliados".
Hace poco, bajo el pretexto de "hacer frente a la amenaza de misiles" de la Republica Popular Democratica de Corea EE.UU. instalo por primera vez en Japon el aparato movil de persecucion a misiles. En el centro de control terrestre de tactica conjunta que es el sistema movil de tratamiento de informaciones emplazado en ese pais isleno las tropas norteamericanas cumpliran la mision de vigilancia a la RPDC.
Por otra parte, logro un acuerdo con Israel de desarrollar en comun el sistema antimisiles de diferentes alturas para interceptar los "misiles de largo y corto alcance de Iran y Siria".
Esto demuestra que a traves del fortalecimiento del sistema de cooperacion militar con los "paises aliados" el imperio se esfuerza desesperadamente por ocupar la segura supremacia militar en los nudos estrategicos.
Asi senala el periodico Minju Joson en un comentario individual de este miercoles y continua:
EE.UU. trata de controlar militarmente a sus "aliados" situados en el Nordeste Asiatico y el Medio Oriente a donde dirigen miradas codiciosas las potencias para asi afianzar su control monopolista sobre los nudos estrategicos del mundo.
El tiene calculo estrategico de ejercer sostenidamente su influencia militar sobre las regiones arriba mencionadas por medio de incorporar Japon e Israel al sistema de la "cooperacion militar" en el establecimiento del sistema antimisiles bajo el pretexto de la "seguridad" de estos ambos paises.
He aqui el motivo por el cual EE.UU. se ajetrea para emplazar el aparato de persecucion a misiles en Japon e Israel y desarrollar juntos el sistema antimisiles bajo el pretexto de la "amenaza de misiles" de Corea, Iran y Siria.
Esto demuestra que es invariable la naturaleza de EE.UU. de dominar con la fuerza el mundo.
La politica de enfrentamiento militar y la estrategia de heguemonia mundial traeran solo la autodestruccion de EE.UU.
Publicacion cientifica y tecnica y tercer simposio nacional
Pyongyang, 31 de octubre (ATCC) -- Tuvieron lugar la publicacion cientifica y tecnica de sector de plantas electricas de mediano y pequeno tamano y el III simposio academico nacional sobre el estudio de Kyongrak bajo los auspicios del Comite Central de la Federacion General de Ciencia y Tecnica de Corea.
En la citada publicacion efectuada en la Universidad Politecnica Kim Chaek se presentaron mas de 80 datos de exito que solucionan los problemas cientificos y tecnicos presentados en la construccion y administracion de referidas plantas electricas. Estas centrales revisten suma importancia en la solucion del problema de la carente electricidad del pais.
Por otra parte, en dicho simposio celebrado en la Academia de Medicina Coryo fueron publicadas decenas de ponencias referentes a los logros de investigacion que sistematizaron de modo cientifico la importante teoria de Kyongrak en la medicina Coryo y las aplicaron en la practica clinica.
Hay que acelerar cumplimiento de tres tareas para la reunificacion
Pyongyang, 31 de octubre (ATCC) -- Todos los coreanos del Norte, el Sur y en ultramar, con la conviccion y optimismo en la reunificacion de la patria, deben hacer ingentes esfuerzos por cumplir las tres tareas: la preponderancia de la nacion, la defensa de la paz y el logro de la unidad, y coronar significativamente el movimiento por la reunificacion de este ano.
Senala asi el diario Rodong Sinmun en un articulo individual de este miercoles y prosigue:
Todos los integrantes de la nacion coreana mantienen la unanime voluntad de cumplir con su responsabilidad y deber asumidos ante la epoca y la historia dando impulso al cumplimiento de las tres tareas.
Hay que mantener con firmeza la posicion de dar prioridad a la nacion, posicion principal de la coreana que sufre la tragedia de division nacional por las fuerzas foraneas.
Debemos librar con vigor la lucha por frustrar las maniobras de agresion y de guerra de las fuerzas imperialistas, preservar la paz del pais y defender la seguridad de la nacion.
Al margen de la lucha contra tales tejemanejes no pueden pensar en la reunificacion de la patria ni en la prosperidad de la nacion.
La politica de Songun (priorizacion militar) es el remedio patriotico, que defiende la paz de la Peninsula Coreana y la seguridad de la nacion y asegura el triunfo del movimiento por la reunificacion independiente. La nacion coreana debe apoyar absolutamente esta politica que manifesto sin reserva su justeza y su vitalidad en la practica por preservar la paz.
Debemos lograr la unidad pannacional.
Si todos los coreanos del Norte, el Sur y en ultramar se unen monoliticamente por encima de las diferencias de las ideas, ideales, criterios politicos, creencias religiosas, clases y capas, no habra nada temible e insuperable en este mundo.
Todos los coreanos en el interior y exterior del pais deben unirse con firmeza a base del espiritu de "Entre nosotros, los connacionales".
Con el orgullo y conciencia de vivir en la epoca de la reunificacion independiente deben elevar el clima de reconciliacion y unidad nacionales y desarrollar a una nueva etapa la solidaridad entre las entidades del movimiento por la reunificacion tomando por base el Comite Conjunto Nacional del 15 de Junio.
