Pyongyang, November 1 (KCNA) -- Kim Yong Nam, president of the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly, met and conversed with Han Wan Sang, president of the south Korean Red Cross, and his party at the Mansudae Assembly Hall on Thursday.
Present there were Jang Jae On, chairman of the Central Committee of the DPRK Red Cross Society, and officials concerned.
Officials of Relevant Field Talk with Those Concerned of Hyundai Group
Pyongyang, November 1 (KCNA) -- Officials of the relevant field in the DPRK talked with those concerned of Hyundai Group of south Korea at the People's Palace of Culture Thursday.
Present there from the north side were officials of the relevant field including the National Economic Cooperation Federation and the National Reconciliation Council and from the south side those concerned of Hyundai Group including its Chairwoman Hyon Jong Un.
Both sides had general and inter-sector discussions on the cooperation in the work in the Kaesong Industrial Zone, tourism and social and cultural work and other issues of mutual concern.
Earlier, the chairwoman and her party toured the area of Mt. Paektu.

Pyongyang, November 1 (KCNA) -- Premier of the DPRK Cabinet Kim Yong Il sent a message of greetings to Baldwin Spencer, Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda, on the occasion of the 26th anniversary of its independence.
The message wished the prime minister success in his work for the country's development and people's well-being.
18th National Program Contest and Exhibition Held
Pyongyang, November 1 (KCNA) -- The 18th national program contest and exhibition were held in Pyongyang.
Entries into the contest and exhibition which opened on October 24 included programs developed by ministries, national institutions and such fields as science, education, culture and public health.
The events were divided into the field of computerizing institutions, an exhibition of programs and contest. There was a contest in English-Korean translation programs. On display at the exhibition were hundreds of programs including scientific and technological calculation programs, business programs, designing programs and educational aid programs.
A closing ceremony was held at the Three-Revolution Exhibition on October 31.
Present at the ceremony were Ro Tu Chol, vice-premier of the Cabinet, Ri Kwang Ho, department director of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, Pyon Yong Rip, president of the State Academy of Sciences, and other officials concerned, scientists, technicians and youths and students.
Sports Games of Artistes Held
Pyongyang, November 1 (KCNA) -- The 38th sports games of artistes was held at Kim Il Sung Stadium on October 31.
They competed in football, basketball, volleyball, tug-of-war and other events, divided into groups of cinema, stage, education and production.
All the players fully displayed sports technique, high collectivist spirit and noble moral traits which they had cultivated through mass sports activities while engaging in energetic creative work.
The cheerers of all groups enthusiastically encouraged the players, presenting dances, band music, acrobatic feats, etc. and breaking into thunders of applause and cheers.
The cinematic group took first place in total points.
Scenic Spots Change into New Looks
Pyongyang, November 1 (KCNA) -- Scenic spots of the DPRK are being rebuilt as pleasure-grounds for the cultural rest of the working people.
The Ryongaksan Pleasure-Ground in Pyongyang and Mt. Paekun, a scenic spot, in South Hamgyong Province have been arranged more beautifully this year.
A road from the Mangyongdae Children's Camp to Tae Peak, top of Mt. Ryongak, many animal sculptures, resting sites and public service facilities were built in harmony in different parts of the pleasure-ground.
The camping houses were renovated and nearly 20 km-long trip road was expanded in the scenic spot.
A restaurant, parking lot, folklore amusement place are to be built in Sokam beauty spot of South Phyongan Province.
People in South Hwanghae Province are giving a finishing touch to the project for arranging Mt. Kuwol and Mt. Jangsu.
Roads in Mt. Kuwol were expanded and resting sites and cultural welfare facilities were newly built to provide convenience to tourists.
A loop tourist road linking Ju Peak and beautiful spots in Jaeryong County with the existing road is being formed and a pleasure-ground is being built well in Mt. Jangsu.
Projects for building scenic spots in various parts of the country including Mt. Myohyang, Ryongmun Cavern, Songam Cavern, Ulrim Falls, Mt. Chilbo and Chongsokjong more beautifully to suit the Songun era are being pushed ahead with redoubled efforts.
Teacher-Scholars Conducive to Scientific and Technological Development
Pyongyang, November 1 (KCNA) -- Teacher-scholars in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea are taking a big share in developing rapidly the science and technology of the country.
High is the patriotic enthusiasm of university teachers to contribute to the building of a great, prosperous and powerful socialist country with great scientific research successes.
In last 2-3 years alone they have settled one thousand and hundreds of important scientific and technological problems arising in such key basic IT, nano, bioengineering technologies and propelling the country's economy.
This year teacher-scholars of Kim Il Sung University have made a new fodder additive for chicken with natural minerals abundant in the country instead of the imported fodder additive which had been used in the chicken farms and registered many research achievements.
Those of Kim Chaek University of Technology have gone to industrial establishments, collieries, mines and construction sites in various parts of the country where projects for the technical modernization of the national economy are vigorously progressing apace. They are fully discharging their mission and duty as the pioneer of the IT industrial revolution while solving knotty scientific and technical problems on the site.
Han Tok Su Pyongyang University of Light Industry has made over a hundred research successes important for developing the light industry and introduced them into production. And Huichon University of Communications has conducted vigorously the collective scientific research activities to boost the communication science up to the level of cutting edge, thus advancing 700-odd inventions over the last three years.

Philosophical Principle of Faith in Sure Victory
Pyongyang, November 1 (KCNA) -- The flag of socialism is fluttering higher in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.
Socialism was frustrated in various countries in the 1990s. The imperialist reactionaries took the opportunity to loudly talk about "end of socialism" and further intensified the moves to isolate and stifle the DPRK.
With an immutable will to take the road of socialism pioneered by President Kim Il Sung, Kim Jong Il authored the famous work "Socialism Is a Science" on November 1, 1994.
He, in the work, clearly expounds that socialism is an inevitable stage of the historical development, is the most advanced society conforming to the independent nature of the human being and is based on the most correct Juche-oriented view and standpoint on man and herein lie the scientific accuracy and truth of the Korean socialism.

In those days the great revolutionary soldier spirit representing the Songun era was created and the Kanggye spirit came into being and the torch of Songgang flared up in the process of generalizing the former. The country experienced the building of many monumental edifices.

Anniversary of Kim Jong Il's Work Observed
Pyongyang, November 1 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun Thursday dedicates a signed article to the 13th anniversary of Kim Jong Il's famous work "Socialism Is a Science."
The work, published on Nov. 1, Juche 83 (1994), is an immortal library of weighty significance as it comprehensively deals with and systematizes the theory of socialism as a science, the article says, and goes on:
More than a decade has passed since the publication of the work but Kim Jong Il's ideas and theories proving scientific accuracy of socialism and indicating a true path of its victory have displayed tremendous vitality with the lapse of time and the advance of the era.
The work, first of all, serves as an ideological pabulum as it instills unshakable faith in socialism into the people of the DPRK.
It comprehensively deals with the undisputed superiority of socialism to capitalism, the limitation of the preceding theory of socialism, originality and scientific accuracy of Juche-based theory of socialism, the deviations committed by some countries in building socialism in the past, the secret of the triumphant advance made by Korean-style socialism and the true advantages of Korean-style socialism centred on the popular masses.
It, at the same time, serves as powerful guidelines for the building of a great prosperous powerful nation as it helps give full play to the advantages of socialism.
It clarifies important principled issues to be adhered to in socialist construction and the ways to do so. DPRK's Important Days Observed
Pyongyang, November 1 (KCNA) -- A reading session, photo exhibitions and film shows were held from Oct. 12 to 25 in Democratic Congo, Nigeria and Libya on the occasions of the 62nd founding anniversary of the Workers' Party of Korea and the 81st anniversary of the formation of the Down-with-Imperialism Union (DIU).
On display in the venues of the functions were photos showing the exploits of President Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il.
The participants of the film shows watched Korean films "For the Liberation of the Country" and "We Will Follow You to the End of the Earth".
Otete Gaston Mboyo, chairman of the National Committee of the Genuine Lumumbist Patriotic Party of Democratic Congo, at the reading session on "The Short Biography of Comrade Kim Il Sung" explained in detail the glorious course of the WPK in which it has developed into an ever-victorious party by inheriting the tradition of the DIU.
Igwanagu Nicholas, chairman of the Nigerian Group for the Study of Kimjongilism, in his speech made before a film show noted that the WPK, having its historic roots in the DIU formed by the President more than 80 years ago, has been guided by the immortal Juche idea and led the Korean people along the road of victory without the slightest error or deviation since its foundation.
After watching a film, the secretary of the Association of Advocates of African Unity in Libya said that Kim Jong Il is the most seasoned politician as he has led the WPK and the Korean people by successfully carrying forward the cause of Kim Il Sung.

Asistieron por la parte coreana el ministro de Comercio Exterior Rim Kyong Man, el ministro de Agricultura Ri Kyong SIk, el presidente interino del Comite Coreano de Relaciones Culturales con el Extranjero Mun Jae Chol, el vicecanciller Kim Yong Il y el embajador extraordinario y plenipotenciario en Malasia Pak Ryong Yon, y por la malasia, el canciller Datuk Seri Syed Hamid Albar, el secretario general del Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores Tan Sri Rastam Mohd Isa, y el encargado de negocios a.i. en Corea Jamal Sharifuddin Bin Johan.

Rodong Sinmun elogia la guia programatica del socialismo
Pyongyang, 1 de noviembre (ATCC) -- La obra maestra del Dirigente Kim Jong Il "El socialismo es ciencia", publicada el primero de noviembre del 83 (1994) de la Era Juche, es la enciclopedia de significado programatico que sintetiza y sistematiza globalmente las teorias sobre el socialismo como ciencia.
Asi senala el periodico Rodong Sinmun en un articulo individual insertado este jueves en ocasion del XIII aniversario de la publicacion de dicha obra y continua:
A lo largo de mas de 10 anos, la gran vitalidad de la idea y teoria del Dirigente aclaradas en el citado trabajo se pone de pleno manifiesto iluminando el caracter cientifico del socialismo y la via hacia su victoria.
Ante todo, la obra sirve de un precioso alimento ideo-espiritual que siembra la inconmovible conviccion al socialismo en el corazon del pueblo coreano.

Pyongyang, 1 de noviembre (ATCC) -- En ocasion del 62o aniversario de la fundacion del Partido del Trabajo de Corea y del 81o de la constitucion de la Union para Derrotar al Imperialismo (UDI), tuvieron lugar del 12 al 25 de octubre cenaculo de lectura, exhibicion de fotos y proyeccion filmica en Congo Democratico, Nigeria y la Asociacion por la Unidad Africana en Libia.
En los lugares de actos estaban exhibidas las fotos alusivas a las hazanas del Presidente Kim Il Sung y el Dirigente Kim Jong Il.
En encuentros de cines fueron proyectados los documentales coreanos "Para la restauracion de la patria" y "Le seguiremos hasta fin de este mundo".
Otete Gaston Mboyo, presidente del Comite Nacional del Partido Patriotico Lumumbista Autentico del Congo Democratico, en el cenaculo de lectura sobre la "Breve biografia del camarada Kim Il Sung", explico detalladamente la orgullosa trayectoria del Partido del Trabajo de Corea, que heredo la tradicion de la UDI y se fortalecio como invencible entidad politica.
Igwanagu Nicholas, presidente del Grupo de Estudio del Kimjongilismo de Nigeria, al hacer uso de la palabra antes de la proyeccion filmica, destaco que el PTC, arraigado en la UDI fundada hace mas de 80 anos por el Presidente, toma por la guia directriz la inmortal idea Juche y conduce a la victoria al pueblo coreano sin ninguna desviacion desde su fundacion hasta la fecha.
El secretario de la Asociacion por la Unidad Africana en Libia, tras ver documental coreano, senalo que Su Excelencia Kim Jong Il, quien lleva adelante la causa del Presidente y dirige el PTC y el pueblo coreano, es el mas destacado politico.
