Japan's Moves for MD under Fire

Pyongyang, November 5 (KCNA) -- The Japanese foreign minister recently asserted that Japan's missile defence network is aimed to cope with the "missile threat" from north Korea.
Rodong Sinmun Monday says this in a signed commentary.
Japan's oft-repeated hue and cry over the "missile threat" from someone and "protection" of it from the threat are nothing but a crafty artifice to cover up its ulterior intention to justify its moves for building the missile defence system (MD) in a bid to establish military supremacy in Northeast Asia, the commentary notes, and goes on:
These moves of Japan veiled with such word as "defence" are not designed to cope with the "missile threat" from someone but reveal its sinister plot to realize its wild ambition for overseas aggression through preemptive missile attacks on other countries.
These moves frantically stepped up by Japan despite the concern and warning of the international community are prompted by its strategic purpose and ambition to establish military supremacy in Northeast Asia. These moves are the root cause of a fresh arms race, a new Cold War in the region.
Japan would be well advised to abandon its wicked intention to attain its sinister purpose while talking about someone's "threat." It had better behave itself, cogitating over the fact that its moves to hold a military edge in Northeast Asia would only precipitate its own self-destruction.

All Koreans Called upon to Uphold Songun

Pyongyang, November 5 (KCNA) -- It is quite natural for all Koreans to regard it as a sacred duty to support the Songun politics which protects the dignity and destiny of the nation and actively uphold Songun. Rodong Sinmun today says this in a signed article.
    It goes on:
Upholding Songun alone guarantees the existence and development of the nation and its bright prospect and rosy future.
But for such powerful treasured sword as the Songun politics, the Korean Peninsula would have become a plaything of foreign forces long ago and the Korean people would have already been put again under the yoke of disgraceful slavery.
The peace of the country and the security of all Koreans depend on how they uphold Songun.
It is a vital issue related to the destiny of the Korean nation and the victory of the cause of national reunification to ensure lasting peace and security on the Korean Peninsula.
It is the Songun politics that helps achieve durable peace, protect the destiny of the nation and guarantee a dynamic advance of the cause of national reunification on the peninsula. This politics makes it possible to smash the U.S. moves for aggression against peace by dint of powerful deterrent for self-defence and firmly defend peace and security on the peninsula.
If the DPRK had failed to pursue Songun, a war would have broken out on this land a hundred times and the Koreans would have suffered an unimaginable holocaust. It is an undeniable truth that only when the Koreans firmly uphold the Songun politics is it possible to achieve the peace of the country and the security of the nation and national reunification and bring common prosperity to it.
Upholding Songun serves as a great banner for defending the Korean nation and guaranteeing the dignity and prosperity of the nation.

Solution to "Comfort Women" Issue Urged in S. Korea

Pyongyang, November 5 (KCNA) -- The 785th Wednesday rally demanding solution to the issue of the "comfort women" for the Imperial Japanese Army was reportedly held in front of the Japanese embassy in Seoul on October 31.
Attending it were members of the south Korean Council for the Solution of the Issue of the Volunteers Corps and survivors of the sexual slavery.
Speakers at the rally noted that a resolution demanding an official apology from the Japanese government for the past crimes related to sexual slavery was adopted at the plenary meeting of the U.S. House of Representatives and, afterwards, such actions have been conducted rapidly by parliaments of other countries.
They also said that such events have taken place in different parts of the world as a meeting for urging the Japanese government to hold itself legally accountable for the issue and a meeting to hear speeches of witnesses.
A statement read out at the rally said that twelve victims of the sexual slavery died this year alone and most of the survivors are over 80 years old at present. But, the Japanese government is delaying the solution to the issue because it stupidly calculates that everything will be hushed up if those survivors pass away, it pointed out.
The statement held that the Japanese and south Korean governments should settle the issue at an early date so that those survivors may not bear any grudge any longer.

Accusing the present regime, which is said to attach importance to dialogue, of failing to move toward the improvement of the bilateral relations, they strongly urged the Japanese government to lift the sanctions against the DPRK.
The seminar pointed to the injustice of behavior of Japanese media resorting to the misinformation about the Korean issue and stressed the importance of building up public opinions for the improvement of the DPRK-Japan relations.
