Korean Nation with Long History and Fine Culture
Pyongyang, November 29 (KCNA) -- The Korean nation is a resourceful and intelligent nation with a long history and a fine culture.
The Koreans created Taedonggang Culture, one of the five famous cultures of the world, and have lived with the same blood running through their veins in one and the same land generation after generation from the dawn of the birth of mankind.
This is proved by many cultural relics and remains of ancient times discovered in the basin of the River Taedong.
Tangun known as a myth has been ascertained as a real figure. This has proved that the Korean nation is a homogeneous nation which built a powerful state in the East with Tangun as its ancestor more than 5,000 years ago.
The forefathers of the Koreans have unswervingly carried forward the national lineage down through a long historical period, repelling the ceaseless invasion of foreigners.
They made and used iron tools and bronze products fairly high in quality and technology in those days far earlier than the European countries.
Koguryo tomb murals and Korean paintings remain unfaded, though many years have passed.
Constellations engraved in dolmens of ancient Korea, the constellation in a Koguryo tomb mural, Chomsongdae Astronomical Observatory built in the first half of the 7th century and others show well the high level of the development of astronomy.
The creation of Hunminjongum (the Korean alphabet) in the 15th century laid the foundation for the development of the country's science and culture. The Korean ancestors also made the world's first metallic type, rain gauge and turtle-shaped iron-clad warship.
Koryo celadon, silk cloth and paper are widely known to the world.
All Koreans Called upon to Come out in Reunification Movement
Pyongyang, November 29 (KCNA) -- All Koreans in the north and the south and overseas are turning out in the reunification movement as one with the will to achieve the independent reunification of the country, rebuffing outside forces. Rodong Sinmun today says this in a signed article.
The Koreans' movement for national reunification is a nationwide patriotic movement gaining in scope and strength thanks to their ardent patriotism, the article notes, and goes on:
They are now fully displaying patriotism with the will to settle the reunification issue by their concerted efforts with the Korean nation as a driving force for the reunification movement.
Their reunification movement is a sacred one to rejoin the severed blood ties of the nation and achieve national unity.
In south Korea the people's sovereignty and dignity are being violated by outside forces. This is an unbearable shame for the homogeneous Korean nation.
A dynamic struggle for national reconciliation and unity is now going on wherever Koreans live.
The cause of achieving the great unity of the Korean nation has entered a higher stage of development under the banner of "By our nation itself." All the fellow countrymen are pooling their will and efforts on the common front for achieving independent reunification holding aloft the banner of the June 15 joint declaration.
The reunification movement of the Koreans is a patriotic movement conducive to peace.
The Koreans are a peace-loving nation who loves and desires peace more than anyone else. It is, therefore, a very vital issue related to the reunification of the country and the destiny of the nation to defend peace on the Korean Peninsula. The defence of peace guarantees the destiny of the nation, the reunification of the country and national prosperity.
The reality goes to clearly prove that both independent reunification and peace are achievable only when all the fellow countrymen pool their efforts and struggle in the idea of "By our nation itself" from a patriotic stand and viewpoint.
Triumphant Advance of Socialist Cause Called for
Pyongyang, November 29 (KCNA) -- It is a historic lesson that one is sure to win if one takes hold on ideology and one is bound to go to ruin if one ignores it. It is the fundamental demand for the triumphant advance of socialism to take the ideological education as a lifeline. Rodong Sinmun Thursday says this in a signed article.
It goes on:
An ideological work precisely means the vitality of socialism and its destiny depends on how to strengthen the ideological work. This is a lesson and truth taught by the world socialist movement.
The introduction of a capitalist method whereby people are motivated by use of money while the ideological work is neglected in the socialist society would entail such grave consequences as destabilizing and degenerating socialism and bringing it to a collapse.
It is a more essential requirement to strengthen the ideological work in the socialist society now that the imperialists are becoming all the more undisguised in their ideological and cultural offensive.
The imperialists are spreading the bourgeois ideology and culture while intensifying all sorts of smear propaganda about socialism. They are pursuing a sinister aim to weaken the people's faith in socialism and instigate them to reject it in a bid to bar them from heading for socialism.
The imperialists' ideological and cultural poisoning inevitably provides the counter-revolutionaries with an opportunity to raise their heads. The imperialist ideology and culture are nothing but ideological poison as they are aimed at destabilizing and degenerating socialist countries.
What is taking place on the international arena goes to prove that socialism cannot be defended unless the imperialist ideological and cultural poisoning is not checked.
The practical experience gained by the Korean revolution while firmly defending socialism from the persistent anti-socialist offensive of the imperialists clearly proves that the ideological work provides a fundamental guarantee for the triumphant advance of socialism.
Repeal of NSL Called for in S. Korea
Pyongyang, November 29 (KCNA) -- The People's Solidarity for Abolition of the "National Security Law" (NSL) in south Korea reportedly called a press conference in Seoul on Nov. 23 at which it clarified its will to carry on its actions for the repeal of the NSL.
The speakers at the press conference deplored that the bill on the repeal of the NSL was shelved at the last session of the 17th-term "National Assembly" despite the unanimous demand of the people, declaring that the reality clearly shows that the NSL can be abolished only through the struggle of the people.
A press release read out at the conference said that the NSL should be repealed without fail to greet the era of genuine democracy and reunification. It declared that the organization would continue its vigorous actions for the repeal of the evil law including mass rallies.
At the end of the conference, members of the organization staged a demonstration.
Students' Struggle against Conservatism Supported in S. Korea
Pyongyang, November 29 (KCNA) -- The Solidarity for Implementing the South-North Joint Declaration in south Korea reportedly released a statement on Nov. 23 in support of the students' sit-in strike against the corrupt policy and the conservative Cold War-minded forces.
The statement said that the organization would stand by the south Korean Federation of University Student Councils (Hanchongryon) in the struggle to wipe out the conservative Cold War-minded forces.
Praising the sit-in, being staged by students under Hanchongryon, as a patriotic action reflecting the desire of the people, the statement said: It is a misfortune and disgrace of the nation that Ri Hoe Chang, a kingpin of irregularities and corruption and an anti-reunification element who deserves punishment, declared candidacy for "presidency" today when the inter-Korean ties are favorably developing and the desire for peace, prosperity and reunification is growing in the Korean Peninsula.
The statement called on the youth and students to judge in the "presidential elections" the conservative Cold War-minded forces engrossed in anti-reunification practices and irregularities and corruption and greet a new era of peaceful reunification, inheriting the fighting spirit of the participants in the June Popular Uprising, who courageously fought for democracy against the fascist dictatorship, this year, the 20th anniversary of the uprising.
Anti-U.S., Anti-Conservative Struggle Urged in S. Korea
Pyongyang, November 29 (KCNA) -- The Youth and Students Solidarity for Implementing the June 15 Joint Declaration in south Korea reportedly made public a statement on Nov. 23 on the occasion of the 5th anniversary of its formation, which called on all the youth and students to take the lead in the struggle against the U.S. and conservatism.
The statement noted that all members of the organization have devoted themselves to leading the anti-U.S. and anti-conservative struggle over the last five years and their confidence in victory and their will and grit have grown stronger in this course.
The secret of the victory lies in strengthening the driving forces, it said, declaring that the organization would stand in the van of the struggle for tightening the great alliance against conservatism and strive to successfully ensure the event for the 2nd "Day of All-People Action" to be held on December 1.
It also said that the organization would conduct brisk information activities among the broad masses of people to keep the anti-June 15 forces from seizing power and thus make the forthcoming "presidential elections" an occasion to inflict a decisive defeat on the pro-American conservative forces.

Ri Hoe Chang's Ambition for Power Assailed
Pyongyang, November 29 (KCNA) -- Kim Yong Sul, chairman of the United Confederation of Koreans in Ukraine, released a statement on Nov. 22 condemning the foolish scheme of Ri Hoe Chang, an anti-reunification element, to wrest power.
The statement said that if such human scum and confrontation- and war-maniac as Ri Hoe Chang is allowed to come to power, the Korean nation would no doubt face the war calamity again, far from peace and prosperity.
When the relations between the north and the south of Korea are developing on good terms after the publication of the June 15 joint declaration, Ri Hoe Chang declared that he would run for the "presidential elections." It is an outrageous insult to the Korean nation's desire for reunification, the statement said, and went on:
Ri Hoe Chang's run for "presidency" is intended to revive the fascist rule in south Korea and obliterate the June 15 era, the era of peace and prosperity.
We, Koreans overseas, will invigorate the struggle for the development of the north-south relations, peace on the Korean Peninsula, common prosperity of the nation and national reunification on the basis of the spirit of the "By our nation itself" clarified in the June 15 joint declaration.
