Friendly Meeting Held at Russian Embassy
Pyongyang, January 19 (KCNA) -- The Russian embassy here arranged a friendly meeting for officials of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea on Friday on the occasion of the New Year Juche 97 (2008).
Present there on invitation were Secretary Kim Ki Nam and Vice Department Directors Ji Jae Ryong and Pak Kyong Son of the C.C., WPK and other officials concerned.
Russian Ambassador Valery Sukhinin said at the meeting that the friendly and cooperative relations between Russia and the DPRK continued to develop on good terms last year under the agreements of the top leaders of the two countries.
In 2007 we saw the WPK successfully implementing the idea of General Secretary Kim Jong Il.
Noting that 2008 marks the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between the two countries, he expressed expectation that the WPK would continue paying deep attention to the work for boosting the Russia-DPRK friendly relations.
Kim Ki Nam in his speech expressed hope that everything would go well in the new year too, thanks to the efforts of the Russian leadership to ensure the continuity of the line supported by the Russian people.
This year will greet the 60th anniversary of the establishment of DPRK-Russia diplomatic ties, he said, expressing belief that the DPRK-Russia relations including the ties between the WPK and the "United Russia" Party would grow stronger.
The participants talked to one another about the need to boost the DPRK-Russia relations, deepening the friendship.

New Posters Produced
Pyongyang, January 19 (KCNA) -- More than 240 posters have been produced by the Korean People's Army Art Studio. They call on the servicepersons and the people to turn out in the general offensive for building a great prosperous powerful nation.
Some posters deal with the firm faith and will of the servicepersons to eternally glorify the undying feats President Kim Il Sung performed by founding the DPRK and demonstrate the dignity and national power of the Sun's Korea and the militant appeal of the Workers' Party of Korea to greet the 60th anniversary of the founding of the DPRK as a grand festival of victors, etc.
Particularly posters "Devoted defence of the leader is the quintessence of the mental power of servicepersons and people!" "Let's live and struggle in the same spirit as the General displayed when making the forced march!" and "Let's make a tangible contribution to the prosperity of the country!" and others call on all people to give fuller play to the nation's political and ideological and military might and perform heroic miracles and feats on all fronts for building an economic power. The newly produced posters include posters of diverse themes including those underscoring the need to intensify the education in socialist patriotism and bring the revolutionary soldier culture into full bloom and preserve the Juche character and national character in the revolution and construction.
DPRK, Cradle of People's Eternal Life and Happiness
Pyongyang, January 19 (KCNA) -- The joint New Year editorial noted that the DPRK is a great people's country which embodies the Juche idea, the most dignified, invincible socialist power and the cradle of the eternal life and happiness of its people.
The Korean people are recollecting with deep emotion the founding of the DPRK and its popular policies on the occasion of its 60th birthday.
The foundation of the DPRK by President Kim Il Sung was a historic event which opened up a new era in the building of a socialist state centered on the popular masses and brought about a fundamental turn in carving out the destiny of the Korean nation.
With its foundation, the great people's country, the first of its kind in 5,000 year-long history of the nation, which embodies the Juche idea came into being.
The Republic has always made the demand and interests of the people the first consideration and striven for their realization. It has provided them with genuine freedom and rights in all realms of social life. They have been enjoying a worthwhile and happy life as the master of the state and society, revolution and construction.
The DPRK was the first in the world to have abolished the taxation, the legacy of the old society. It enforced the free medical care, a socialist policy during the hard-fought war. The schoolchildren throughout the country are receiving the universal 11-year compulsory education without paying even a penny with nothing to envy more in the world.
Everything serves the people and they are the masters of all the things.
Included in the names of many state organs and monumental edifices is the word "people". Among them are the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, the Supreme People's Assembly which is the supreme legislative organ, the Korean People's Army, the Grand People's Study House and the People's Palace of Culture. Even the emblem of the Workers' Party of Korea reflects marks representing the working people.
The DPRK which embodies the President's view and motto "the people are my God" and pursues Kim Jong Il's policy of love for the people is, indeed, the people's country, the cradle of their eternal life and happiness.
U.S. Condemned for Arms Buildup
Pyongyang, January 20 (KCNA) -- The United States has been hell-bent on the reinforcement of its air forces in south Korea and around the Korean Peninsula, talking about "local adaptation" and "strategic flexibility".
A spokesman for the Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Fatherland gave the following answers to the question put by KCNA Saturday as regards the above-said moves:
The U.S. recently deployed in its Kunsan airforce base in North Jolla Province of south Korea 20 F-16 fighter-bombers and 300 troops of the 79th squadron of the 20th flying group of the 9th U.S. Air Force from its mainland.
Such air reinforcement in the Korean Peninsula from the outset of the new year is a manifestation of the U.S. moves to carry into practice its scheme for stifling the DPRK by force. It is an unpardonable challenge to the desire of all the Koreans and the world people for peace and stability in the peninsula and a dangerous provocation intended to drive the situation into that of military confrontation and war.
As already known to everyone, the process of denuclearization is being accelerated in the Korean Peninsula under the agreement of the six-party talks and a new era is opening up for the development of inter-Korean relations and peace and prosperity.
However, the U.S. is building up in and around south Korea its air forces aimed at the DPRK and ceaselessly staging anti-DPRK war drills. Such reckless moves for military confrontation clearly show who is scuttling the peaceful solution to the nuclear issue of the Korean Peninsula and sparking off the tension and war.
The reality proves that "peace" and "dialogue" on the lip-service of the U.S. are a deceptive trick to mislead the public opinion at home and abroad and there is no change in its nature of aggression to stifle the DPRK by force.
U.S. Promise to "Provide Nuclear Umbrella" to South Korea under Fire
Pyongyang, January 19 (KCNA) -- The promise given by the United States to "provide a nuclear umbrella and military assistance" to south Korea is a product of its adventurous scenario to invade the DPRK.
Rodong Sinmun Saturday observes this in a signed article.
Referring to the "joint statement" released at the recent south Korea-U.S. "annual security consultative meeting" held in Seoul, the article goes on:
The U.S. promised to return the "right to command the wartime operations" to south Korea till 2012. It is concerned over the fact that the above-said action may weaken its military domination and influence on south Korea. This "promise" was prompted by the U.S. intention to bind the south Korean forces more tightly to the "security alliance" under the pretext of "offering the nuclear umbrella and military assistance" while going ahead with its moves for the "strategic flexibility" of the U.S. forces in south Korea as planned.
There is another point that merits attention. The adoption of the historical October 4 declaration created an environment favorable for the development of the inter-Korean relations, peace and prosperity. In case the relations of military confidence are established between the north and the south thanks to the successful implementation of the above-said declaration calling for an end to the relations of military confrontation and ensuring detente and peace, there will be no justification for the U.S. forces to remain in south Korea any longer. Therefore, the U.S. is becoming evermore vociferous about the "offer of a nuclear umbrella and military assistance", etc. in a bid to bar the implementation of the declaration and keep the south Korean military under its control.
Ridiculing the U.S. for asserting that it made the above-said promise to south Korea at the request of its military, the article cites facts to prove that this is nothing but a revelation of the reckless scenario of the U.S. warlike forces to invade the DPRK.
The above-said promise cannot be construed otherwise than an intention to mount a preemptive nuclear attack on the DPRK any time and use the south Korean troops as a shock force in that criminal war.
These facts go to clearly indicate that though the U.S. is paying lip-service to "dialogue" and "peace" it is, in actuality, watching for a chance to attack the DPRK while pursuing hostile policy toward it.
The U.S. war hawks are chiefly to blame for escalating the military tension and increasing the danger of war on the Korean Peninsula, concludes the article.
Anti-U.S. Solidarity Rally Held in S. Korea
Pyongyang, January 19 (KCNA) -- The People for Achieving Peace and Reunification, the Association for Supporting Prisoners of Conscience of the Family Movement for Realizing Democracy, the South Headquarters of the National Alliance for the Country's Reunification, the south Korean Catholic Priests' Group for Realization of Justice and other civic and public organizations of south Korea reportedly held the 100th anti-U.S. solidarity rally around the U.S. embassy in Seoul on Jan. 15.
Speakers at the rally declared that the reunification of the country can hardly be achieved as long as the U.S. forces remain in south Korea, calling upon all south Koreans to actively turn out in the struggle to force the U.S. troops to quit south Korea and have a peace agreement concluded.
A letter of protest to the U.S. government read out at the rally held that the reorganization of the U.S. forces in south Korea was nothing but a trick to reinforce the U.S. unilateral supremacy on the Korean Peninsula and in the rest of Northeast Asia.
All the U.S.-led military actions in south Korea are nothing but war exercises for invading the north, the letter noted, adding that this indicates that the United States is chiefly to blame for threatening peace on the peninsula.
If the U.S. continues standing in the way of achieving the peaceful reunification of Korea, refusing to stop such unjust acts as increasing south Korea's share of the funds for the upkeep of the U.S. forces in south Korea and dodging the responsibility for disposing of scrap ammunition, the south Korean people will never pardon them, the letter warned.
Friendly Meeting Arranged in Beijing
Beijing, January 18 (KCNA) -- The International Liaison Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China arranged a friendly meeting with staff members of the DPRK embassy here on Jan. 18 on the occasion of the New Year.
Head of the department Wang Jiarui in a speech at the meeting referred to the great successes achieved in the development of the relations between the CPC and the Workers' Party of Korea and the two countries last year. The credit for these achievements goes to the top leaders of the two countries who have shown deep care for the development of the China-DPRK relations, attaching most importance to it, he said.
He expressed the will to continue to develop the relations between the two parties and the two countries together with Korean comrades in the new year, too.
Choe Jin Su, DPRK ambassador to China, said at the meeting: We will strive, in close cooperation with the above-said department, to further develop the friendly relations between the two parties and the two countries in the spirit agreed upon by the top leaders of the two countries in the new year, too.
The participants in the meeting talked to each other about the need to develop the relations between the two countries, deepening friendship.
DPRK's Important Days to Be Commemorated in Uganda
Pyongyang, January 20 (KCNA) -- A Ugandan national committee for commemorating the Day of the Sun and February 16 and celebrating September 9 was formed with due ceremony in Kampala on Jan. 11.
At the ceremony Baguma Isoke, director general of the African Regional Committee for the Study of the Juche Idea and chairman of the Ugandan National Committee for the Study of the Juche Idea, was elected chairman of the above-said national committee.
DPRK's Joint New Year Editorial Supported in Different Countries
Pyongyang, January 20 (KCNA) -- Personages in Syria and Guinea released statements in support of the joint New Year editorial published in the DPRK.
Saber Ballul, head of department of the Political Faculty of University of Damascus, in a statement on January 11 said that the DPRK has turned into a strong fortress defending the interests of the popular masses and advantageous socialism and emerged a model to be followed by all the countries aspiring after independence, thanks to the wise guidance of President Kim Il Sung, its founder, and Kim Jong Il who is most successfully carrying forward the ideology and cause of the President.
Korea's reunification is a pressing task of the Korean people which brooks no further delay, he said, stating that the Syrian people fully support the Korean people in the efforts to achieve the independent and peaceful reunification of the country under the leadership of Kim Jong Il.
He hoped that the Korean party, army and people would register greater victories under the Songun policy of Kim Jong Il, holding high the banner of the Juche idea.
Riyad Chaloub, general director of the Guinean Office for Copyright and chief of the Guinean Group for the Study of February 16 Art, in a statement on January 9 expressed the expectation that the Korean party, army and people would achieve great successes in the building of a great prosperous powerful nation and the cause of national reunification under the leadership of Kim Jong Il this significant year marking the 60th birthday of the DPRK.
DPRK's Joint New Year Editorial Hailed in Peru
Pyongyang, January 19 (KCNA) -- The Revolutionary Socialist Party of Peru and the Peruvian Committee for Supporting the Independent and Peaceful Reunification of Korea released a joint statement on Jan. 10 in support of the joint New Year editorial carried by the leading newspapers of the DPRK.
The joint statement wholeheartedly wished the Korean people fresh victory in their drive to turn their socialist country closely associated with the revolutionary exploits and life of President Kim Il Sung into a great prosperous powerful nation under the banner of the immortal Juche idea.
It expressed conviction that the people of the DPRK would glorify this significant year of the 60th anniversary of the founding of the DPRK as a year of the new historic turn, a year of victory true to the Songun politics of Kim Jong Il.

Association for Study of Juche Idea and Songun Policy Formed in Dagestan
Pyongyang, January 19 (KCNA) -- The Dagestan Association for the Study of the Juche Idea and Songun Policy of Russia was inaugurated with due ceremony in Makhachkala City of the Republic of Dagestan, Russia on Jan. 8.
Magomedmalik Gazievich Gingerov was elected chairman of the association and Mahmed Chamsurbecovich Nuhkaliev its secretary general at the ceremony.
The association defined it as its purpose and orientation of activities to deeply study the Juche idea and Songun policy, the history and culture of Korea and the peace-loving DPRK's domestic and foreign policies, widely introduce them and boost the inter-regional interaction for studying and disseminating the Juche idea in Russia and organize multifarious events on the occasions of the significant days of the Korean people.
Organization of Koreans in Europe Vow to Implement June 15 Joint Declaration
Pyongyang, January 19 (KCNA) -- The European Regional Committee for Implementing the June 15 Joint Declaration reportedly held its 3rd general meeting in Germany on January 12.
It was attended by members of the Association of Koreans for Cooperation in Germany, the European Solidarity to Support One Korea, the European Committee of the Democratic Labor Party of south Korea and the European Regional Headquarters of the National Alliance for the Country's Reunification.
Speakers at the meeting recalled that last year Koreans in Europe conducted brisk activities to implement the June 15 joint declaration.
They called on all compatriots to fulfil their responsibilities and roles this year, too by invigorating the work to thoroughly implement the joint declaration.
The meeting discussed and decided on this year's working plan of the regional committee.

Pyongyang, 19 de enero (ATCC) -- La promesa de Estados Unidos sobre el "ofrecimiento del paraguas nuclear" y el "apoyo militar" al Sur de Corea son productos de la ambicion de aventurera agresion a la Republica Popular Democratica de Corea.
Asi senala el diario Rodong Sinmun en un articulo individual del dia 19 y continua:
Recientemente en Seul se publico la "Declaracion Conjunta" de la "reunion consultiva de seguridad anual" Sur de Corea-EE.UU.
EE.UU. se comprometio a devolver el "derecho de control operacional para el tiempo de guerra" al Sur de Corea hasta el ano 2012. EE.UU. se preocupa del posible debilitamiento de su dominio militar e influencia sobre el Sur de Corea por la devolucion de tal derecho de control. Por eso lanzo tal ofensiva de "caridad" para mantener como lo planeado la "flexibilidad estrategica" de las tropas norteamericanas ocupantes del Sur de Corea y atar mas rigidamente en el marco de la "alianza de seguridad" al ejercito surcoreano tomando por cebo el "ofrecimiento de paraguas nuclear" y el "apoyo militar".
Tambien hay otro problema. En estos momentos, por la aprobacion de la Declaracion del 4 de Octubre se crea un ambiente favorable para el desarrollo de las relaciones Norte-Sur, la paz y la prosperidad. En el caso de que por la ejecucion exitosa de la citada Declaracion que garantiza el fin de las relaciones de hostilidad militar, el relajamiento de la tension y la preservacion de la paz, se establezcan las relaciones de confianza militar entre el Norte y el Sur, las tropas norteamericanas perderan el pretexto de permanecer por mas tiempo en el Sur de Corea. Por eso EE.UU. habla mas ruidosamente que nunca del problema del "ofrecimiento del paraguas nuclear" y el "apoyo militar" para obstaculizar la ejecucion de la Declaracion y hacer que la capa militar surcoreana no se desvie de su intencion.
En estos momentos EE.UU. predica que tal promesa suya se debe a la peticion de la capa militar surcoreana, pero no puede disimular la imprudente intencion de agresion al Norte de la capa belicista norteamericana.
Tal promesa de EE.UU. es para asestar en cualquier momento un ataque preventivo nuclear a la Republica Popular Democratica de Corea y lanzar al ejercito surcoreano como brigada de choque de la guerra de agresion al Norte de Corea.
Los hechos demuestran evidentemente que aunque EE.UU. habla mucho de "dialogo" y "paz", de hecho, hostiliza a la RPDC y asecha codiciosamente la oportunidad de emprender la agresion a esta.
El fautor, que crea la tension militar y aumenta el peligro de la guerra en la Peninsula Coreana, es la capa belicista de EE.UU.
Encuentro de amistad en embajada rusa en Corea
Pyongyang, 19 de enero (ATCC) -- En ocasion del Ano Nuevo, la Embajada de la Federacion Rusa en Corea ofrecio la vispera un encuentro de amistad en honor de los funcionarios del Comite Central del Partido del Trabajo de Corea.
Entre los invitados figuraban el secretario del CC del PTC, Kim Ki Nam, los subjefes de departamento del CC del PTC, Ji Jae Ryong y Pak Kyong Son, y otros funcionarios.
Accedio primero al microfono el embajador extraordinario y plenipotenciario ruso, Valery Sukhinin.
Apunto que el ano pasado, las relaciones de amistad y cooperacion entre Rusia y Corea siguieron desarrollandose favorablemente en virtud de los acuerdos entre los maximos dirigentes de los dos paises.
He sido testigo de la realizacion exitosa en 2007 de los proyectos del Secretario General Kim Jong Il por parte del PTC, destaco.
Este ano se cumple el sexagesimo aniversario del establecimiento de las relaciones diplomaticas entre ambos paises, dijo el embajador y expuso su esperanza de que el PTC seguiria prestando profunda atencion al fortalecimiento de las relaciones de amistad entre Rusia y Corea.
Le siguio en usar la palabra Kim Ki Nam, quien formulo su deseo de que este ano tambien todo le vaya bien a Rusia gracias a los esfuerzos del directorio de este pais por dar continuidad a sus lineas apoyadas por el pueblo.
En este ano se acogera el aniversario 60 del establecimiento de las relaciones diplomaticas entre ambos paises, recalco y apunto que esta seguro de que se desarrollaran aun mas los vinculos Corea-Rusia, inclusive las relaciones entre el PTC y el Partido "Rusia Unida".
Los reunidos profundizaron la amistad hablando del problema de desarrollar las relaciones bilaterales.
Nace en Rusia Asociacion de Estudio de Idea Juche y Politica de Songun
Pyongyang, 19 de enero (ATCC) -- Quedo constituida el dia 8 en la ciudad de Makhachkala de la Republica de Dagestan de Rusia la Asociacion de Estudio de la Idea Juche y la Politica de Songun (priorizacion militar) de Dagestan de Rusia.
Como presidente y secretario general de la entidad naciente fueron electos Magomedmalik Gazievich Gingerov y Mahmed Chamsurbecovich Nuhkaliev.
En la ocasion se fijaron el objetivo y el rumbo de las actividades de la asociacion: estudiar profundamente y propagar ampliamente la idea Juche y la politica de Songun, la historia, la cultura y la pacifista politica exterior e interior de Corea, fortalecer las relaciones interregionales en Rusia para propagar la misma idea y organizar diversas actividades con motivo de las efemerides significativas del pueblo coreano.
Entidades peruanas apoyan editorial conjunto de ano nuevo de Corea
Pyongyang, 19 de enero (ATCC) -- Al publicar el dia 10 una declaracion conjunta de apoyo al editorial conjunto de los principales periodicos coreanos difundido por el Ano Nuevo, el Partido Socialista Revolucionario del Peru y el Comite Peruano de Apoyo a la Reunificacion Independiente y Pacifica de Corea desearon de todo corazon al pueblo coreano nuevas victorias en la lucha por construir, bajo la bandera de la inmortal idea Juche, una gran potencia prospera en su patria socialista donde estan grabadas las hazanas revolucionarias y la vida del Presidente Kim Il Sung.
El documento manifiesta conviccion de que el pueblo coreano coronara este ano del aniversario 60 de la fundacion de la Republica Popular Democratica de Corea como un ano de cambios historicos y de victorias en pleno acato a la politica de Songun (priorizacion militar) del Dirigente Kim Jong Il.
Expresa conviccion de que el pueblo coreano mostrara una vez mas su gallardo aspecto como modelo de los pueblos del mundo en la lucha por la reunificacion y la paz de la Peninsula Coreana, por el progreso y la paz del planeta.
