Kim Jong Il Provides Field Guidance to Mine
Pyongyang, January 29 (KCNA) -- General Secretary Kim Jong Il gave on-the-spot guidance to the March 5 Youth Mine.
He looked round the room devoted to the history of the mine.
He looked back with deep emotion on the glorious course of development covered by the mine which has advanced toward victory and prosperity under the care of President Kim Il Sung. Thanks to the wise guidance and meticulous care of the President, the mine has turned into a modern non-ferrous metal ore producer, he said, adding that his immortal revolutionary exploits will shine forever with the history of the mine.
Then he was briefed on the ore body in front of its model picture and went round stopes to acquaint himself with the technical modernization of production processes and mineral output.
He dropped in at crushing and ore-dressing plants to learn in detail about the conditions of equipment and production and gave pep talks to workers speeding up the increased production for the prosperous development of the country.
He said that the proud achievements made by the workers at the mine are a manifestation of the indomitable will of the Korean working class, the dependable ranks of loyal subjects who have overcome the stern trials of revolution victoriously, following the Party wholeheartedly. They are also a striking demonstration of the might of the most revolutionary and militant, heroic Korean workers who advance along the road of progress without slightest vacillation or hesitation in any adversity, he stressed.
Then he commanded a bird's-eye view of the mine reminiscent of a city.
He set forth tasks for systematically increasing the production at the mine and developing it under a long-term plan.
The key to putting the non-ferrous metal production on a normal basis is to ensure the breaking and carriage of ore in a large quantity so as to keep concentrated ore production ahead of other works, he said, stressing the need to put in good order all the tunneling, carrying and dressing equipment and raise their operation rate.
In order to utilize the bountiful underground resources at the mine economically in a prospective way, he said it is necessary to give priority to the prospecting for providing enough ore reserves and thoroughly take steps for deep tunneling based on up-to-date science and technology.
On the same day he visited the Naedong Revolutionary Site in the seat of Jasong County.
The site is a historic place where Kim Hyong Jik, an indomitable revolutionary fighter, conducted his brisk activities for encouraging workers, peasants and other people of different strata in Jasong area to the anti-Japanese struggle in 1920 and autumn of 1921.
After being briefed on the site in front of the monument to it, he looked round the historic buildings preserved as they were to acquaint himself with management of the site and education in it.
He said that since there are many precious historic sites including the revolutionary sites associated with noble traces of the President, it is important to well preserve and manage them in their original state and intensify the education through them to more firmly arm party members and other working people, servicepersons and youth and children with the revolutionary idea of the WPK.
He met with leading officials of the county to learn about the economic activities including farming and urged them to steadily increase the agricultural production so as to further improve the standard of living of the inhabitants in the county.
He was accompanied by Pak To Chun, chief secretary of the Jagang Provincial Committee of the WPK.
Message of Condolence to Indonesian President
Pyongyang, January 29 (KCNA) -- Kim Yong Nam, president of the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly, Monday sent a message of condolence to Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, President of Indonesia, on the death of Muhammad Soeharto, former President of Indonesia, from illness.
In the message Kim expressed deep regret and consolation to the president and the family of the deceased.

Biochemical Warfare of U.S. Imperialism Is Inhuman Crime
Pyongyang, January 29 (KCNA) -- The Korean people with surging indignation denounce the U.S. imperialists who perpetrated a biochemical warfare in the past Korean War.
The aggressors dropped various kinds of germ bombs with cholera, typhoid, plague and other bacillus on 400-odd areas of the northern half of Korea on more than 700 occasions between Jan. 28 and Mar. 25, Juche 41 (1952) when the Korean War was in its thick.
After that they massacred Koreans with toxic chemical weapons including poisonous gas bombs.
It was an outrageous violation of the international law and an inhuman crime.
In wanton violation of the international law on banning the use of germ and poisonous chemical weapons the U.S. imperialists have turned south Korea into a huge depot of biochemical weapons and are engaged in preparations for a biochemical warfare against the northern half of Korea.
They shipped notorious defoliant into south Korea in the 1960s and have built 10-odd poisonous gas factories there to mass-produce various kinds of chemical weapons.
They also brought dualistic chemical weapons, the weapon of devil, into over 40 bases of the U.S. army present in south Korea and moved their germ weapon-related units to south Korea from Japan. They established germ institutes in Korea University, Kyunghee University and so on for the purpose of research and production of germ weapons and their experiments.
The United States has never missed the chemical warfare exercise when it held large-scale war exercises including Ulji Focus Lens in south Korea.
It was reported that the chemical materials stockpiled in south Korea, Japan, Hawaii and other areas amount to 25,000 drums of 10-odd kinds.
The army and people of the DPRK are closely watching the dangerous move of the U.S.
Anniversary of Kim Jong Il's Famous Work Observed
Pyongyang, January 29 (KCNA) -- Papers here today dedicate signed articles to the 5th anniversary of the publication of Kim Jong Il's famous work "Songun-based Revolutionary Line Is a Great Revolutionary Line of Our Era and an Ever-Victorious Banner of Our Revolution ".
The work, published on Jan. 29, Juche 92 (2003), clarifies the essence and nature of the Songun revolutionary leadership and Songun policy of the Workers' Party of Korea and their revolutionary character and justice and inexhaustible vitality and the tasks to be fulfilled to advance the revolutionary cause of Juche at a new high level under the banner of Songun and ways to do so.

U.S. Chiefly to Blame for Increasing Danger of Nuclear War in Korea
Pyongyang, January 29 (KCNA) -- South Korea still remains a powder keg of the U.S. for a dangerous nuclear war and this is a product of its adventurous strategy for world domination and the aggressive hostile policy towards the DPRK.
Rodong Sinmun Tuesday says this in a signed article carried 50 years since the U.S. formally announced that it introduced nukes into south Korea.
Disclosing the criminal aim sought by the U.S. in having reduced south Korea to the most dangerous advance nuclear base in the world and brought the dark clouds of a nuclear war to hang over the Korean nation since the 1950s, the article goes on:
The U.S. has long harbored the wild ambition to invade the DPRK with south Korea as a springboard and, furthermore, dominate the whole of Northeast Asia. The U.S. designated south Korea as a "vital operation area" as early as in the 1950s and has since stepped up the process of arming the U.S. forces in south Korea with nukes in real earnest.
The U.S. unilaterally declared the abrogation of the provision (d) of the Paragraph 13 of the Armistice Agreement banning the introduction of modern weapons at the 75th meeting of the Military Armistice Commission held in June 1957. And in July, it declared the start of the work to arm the U.S. forces in south Korea with nuclear weapons. On Jan. 29, 1958, the U.S. formally disclosed its introduction of nukes into south Korea. Few days later the U.S. opened to the public a 280mm atomic gun and nuclear missile "Honest John" at the command of the First Army Corps of the U.S. forces in south Korea and in May it test-fired the atomic gun.
The U.S. policy for turning south Korea into a nuclear base has been steadily supplemented and perfected and put into a concrete shape in the subsequent period. Various types of nukes including nuclear bombs, nuclear mines and nuclear missiles produced in the U.S. were massively introduced into south Korea, pursuant to this policy.
The U.S. had deployed more than 1,720 various tactical nuclear weapons in south Korea till the year before 1991, turning south Korea into the world's biggest nuclear base in the density of nuclear weapons deployment. Not content with this, the U.S. bellicose forces made the deployment of not only tactical nukes but also strategic nukes in south Korea an established fact, presupposing "contingency" on the Korean Peninsula at the 38th meeting of the south Korea-U.S. "annual security consultative council" held in October 2006.
South Korea has thus turned into a huge powder keg for a dangerous nuclear war which may go off any moment and the situation on the peninsula remains so tense that a nuclear war may break out any moment due to the reckless moves of the U.S. which regards nukes as a means for carrying out its strategy for world domination and an all-powerful weapon for aggression and hegemony.
U.S. Responsible for Nuclear Issue in Korea
Pyongyang, January 29 (KCNA) -- The nuclear issue would not have surfaced on the Korean Peninsula if the U.S. had neither introduced nuclear weapons into south Korea nor threatened the DPRK with them.
Rodong Sinmun Tuesday observes this in a signed commentary carried 50 years since the U.S. formally announced that it introduced nukes into south Korea.
Noting that the U.S. introduction of nukes into south Korea was a very serious provocation to the DPRK as it amounted to challenging the just struggle of the Republic and all Koreans for peace and reunification of the country with a nuclear threat and it was a direct product of the U.S. aggressive strategy for world domination and its Korea policy, the commentary goes on:
It was the calculation of the U.S. to browbeat the DPRK and its neighboring countries with nukes in a bid to secure "upper-hand of strength" and carry out its adventurous policy for aggression with ease.
The U.S. imperialists have escalated their moves for a nuclear war against the DPRK for the last five decades, going against the desire of the Korean nation for peace. The U.S. has reduced south Korea to a huge powder keg for a nuclear war which may go off any moment and systematically increased the danger of a nuclear war on the Korean Peninsula, threatening the life and security of the Koreans and persistently standing in the way of their cause of peace and reunification. This is, indeed, a thrice-cursed crime.
The history and reality clearly prove that the U.S. is chiefly to blame for having escalated the danger of a nuclear war by spawning the nuclear issue on the peninsula and disturbing peace there.
If the source of a nuclear war is to be removed from the peninsula, the U.S. should stop posing its nuclear threat to the DPRK and drop its hostile policy towards the latter and pull its forces for aggression out of south Korea, to begin with.
U.S. Projected Reorganization of Its Forces Assailed
Pyongyang, January 29 (KCNA) -- The United States is contemplating deploying "Global Hawk" and "F-22" in Guam and Hawaii military bases in the Pacific Ocean within this year, according to the "roadmap for the deployment of the U.S. air force in the 21st century" made public by the chief of staff of the U.S. air force sometime ago.
Commenting on this, Minju Joson Tuesday observes:
This indicates that the U.S. is regarding Asian-Pacific as the most important theatre of military activities of the U.S. forces in the 21st century and busy laying a foundation for implementing this scenario.
The news analyst goes on:
It is the keynote of the U.S. defense strategy for the 21st century for its forces to carry out their reorganization in the direction of improving their maneuverability so that they may be rapidly hurled into any area for military actions.
This fact reveals the ulterior motive of the above-said roadmap. It clearly hints that the think tanks of the U.S. military singled out Northeast Asia including the Korean Peninsula as a theatre of confrontation and an operational theatre for establishing their military hegemony.
To stabilize the situation on the peninsula presents itself as a focus of world politics and a key issue at present.
In this context the U.S. has an important and responsible part to play and once clarified its stand to seek a peaceful and negotiated settlement of the pending issues between the DPRK and the U.S.
This being a hard reality, U.S. negotiators say something before delegates of the DPRK but behave quite contrary to it after they are back.
The historical experience proves that the U.S. military pressure and hard-line policy has been of no help to developing the DPRK-U.S. relations but have driven the situation in this area into an extreme phase.
The U.S. would be well advised to cogitate about the serious consequences to be entailed by its anachronistic hostile policy towards the DPRK and take a right option.
Japanese Reactionaries' Anti-Chongryon Campaign Flailed
Pyongyang, January 29 (KCNA) -- Recently, the Osaka District Court of Japan formally decided to dispose of the lands and building of the Osaka Korean Hall, where the Osaka prefectural headquarters of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon) is situated, to a real estate company. This is a grave political terrorism which can never be overlooked.
Rodong Sinmun Tuesday says this in a signed commentary.
Now the Japanese reactionaries are disgustingly justifying such action as a mere "economic problem", the commentary notes, and goes on:
Their decision to usurp the above-said building can never be a financial issue to be dealt with by any individual judicial body or company.
It is the ulterior intention of the Japanese reactionaries to destroy Chongryon by means of putting financial pressure upon it.
So, it is incontestable that the decision was made according to their deliberate scheme and direct instruction from beginning to the end.
With any tricks they can never cover up their sinister intention to stamp out Chongryon and activities of Japan-resident Koreans by physically eliminating the strongholds of Chongryon.
The Japanese reactionaries try to usurp the buildings and lands of Chongryon, not content with frantic suppression of it. Such actions fully reveal their brigandish nature, moral vulgarity and vileness.
Their moves are a direct outcome from Japan's hostile policy toward the DPRK. Particularly, lurking behind them is their criminal scheme to interrupt the process of the six-party talks and establish the domination over Asia.
If Japan continues its moves to stifle Chongryon and seek a "cooperation mechanism for pressure" on the DPRK, the latter will be compelled to take a tougher counteraction.
Punishment on Ri Hoe Chang Urged in S. Korea
Pyongyang, January 29 (KCNA) -- The South Headquarters of the National Alliance of Youth and Students for the Country's Reunification in south Korea reportedly made public a statement on Jan. 19 calling for all-out struggle to punish Ri Hoe Chang, a murderer.
Referring to the fact that Jo Yong Su, president of the newspaper "Minjok Ilbo" who was executed by the past military fascist clan, was given a verdict of not guilty on January 16, the statement disclosed that the judge who sentenced Jo to death in 1961 is none other than traitor Ri Hoe Chang.
Branding Ri as a sycophantic traitor and a man-killer for having imposed death upon people desirous of independence, democracy and reunification, the statement said it is an intolerable insult to the people that such guy is allowed to swagger in south Korea, styling himself a politician.
Preparatory Committees Formed
Pyongyang, January 29 (KCNA) -- An Ukrainian national preparatory committee and a Kirgyz preparatory committee were formed with due ceremony on January 21 and 24 to commemorate the Day of the Sun and February 16.
Chairman of the Ukraine-DPRK Association Nikolai Polishk was elected chairman of the Ukrainian national preparatory committee and Chairman of the Marxist-Leninist Reunification Communist Party of the Kirgyzstan People A. Usupbayev chairman of the Kirgyz preparatory committee.
The preparatory committees decided to hold political and cultural events including meeting, lecture, seminar and film show and conduct activities for supporting the cause of the Korean people on the above-said occasions.
Bulletin Published in Italy to Mark Kim Jong Il's Birthday
Pyongyang, January 29 (KCNA) -- The Italian Committee for the Study of Songun Idea for Independence and Sovereignty published its bulletin titled "Comrade Kim Jong Il Is a Great Politician and Great Philosopher" on Jan. 23 on the occasion of his birthday.
The bulletin noted that though the imperialists have got evermore pronounced in the anti-socialist moves after the collapse of socialism in Eastern European countries in the late 20th century, the DPRK has been dynamically advancing along the road chosen by itself, holding higher the red flag without any slightest vacillation or hesitation.
The DPRK is shining brilliantly as a country centered on the popular masses because Kim Jong Il saw to it that the Juche idea was thoroughly applied in the whole society, it pointed out.
The Juche idea enriched by the leader is an original revolutionary doctrine based on the man-centered philosophical principle, the bulletin said, adding: This idea elucidates the profound truth that pride and honor of a nation lie in forming the harmonious whole of leader, party and masses of people and having its great leader.

Pyongyang, 29 de enero (ATCC) -- El presidente del Presidium de la Asamblea Popular Suprema de la Republica Popular Democratica de Corea, Kim Yong Nam, envio el dia 28 un telegrama de condolencias al presidente de la Republica de Indonesia, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, en relacion con el fallecimiento a causa de una enfermedad del ex presidente de este pais, Muhammad Suharto.
El remitente expresa sentidas condolencias y consuelo al destinatario y, por su conducto, a los familiares del difunto.
Rodong Sinmun estigmatiza a EE.UU. como fautor de problema nuclear
Pyongyang, 29 de enero (ATCC) -- Si Estados Unidos no hubiera introducido las armas nucleares en el Sur de Corea con las que amenaza al Norte de Corea, no habria surgido el problema nuclear en la Peninsula Coreana.
Asi senala el diario Rodong Sinmun en un comentario individual insertado en su numero del dia 29 con motivo de cumplirse 50 anos desde cuando EE.UU. dio a conocer oficialmente la introduccion de armas nucleares en el Sur de Corea.
El comentario va como sigue:
La introduccion de armas nucleares constituyo una grave provocacion respondiendo con la amenaza nuclear a la justa lucha de la Republica Popular Democratica de Corea y la nacion coreana por la paz y la reunificacion del pais y al mismo tiempo fue producto evidente de la agresiva estrategia de hegemonia mundial y la politica de EE.UU. para con Corea.
Ejerciendo la amenaza nuclear a la RPDC y los paises perifericos EE.UU. trato de ocupar la "supremacia de la fuerza" y realizar facilmente su aventurera politica de agresion.
Durante estos 50 anos los imperialistas yanquis ampliaron de modo escalonado las maniobras de provocacion de guerra nuclear contra la RPDC nadando contra la aspiracion a la paz de la nacion coreana. EE.UU. convirtio al Sur de Corea en un peligroso polvorin de guerra nuclear, amenazo la vida y la seguridad de la nacion incrementando sistematicamente el peligro de guerra nuclear en la Peninsula Coreana e impidio siniestramente la causa de la paz y la reunificacion. Asi cometio un crimen nunca perdonable.
La historia y la realidad demuestran claramente que EE.UU. es precisamente el fautor que engendro el problema nuclear e incremento el peligro de guerra nuclear perturbando la paz en la Peninsula Coreana.

Rodong Sinmun denuncia acto terrorista politico de Japon
Pyongyang, 29 de enero (ATCC) -- Recientemente, el Tribunal Local de Osaka de Japon dicto un fallo oficial sobre la venta a una compania de bienes inmuebles del predio y edificio de la "Casa Coreana en Osaka", sede de la direccion de la Chongryon (Asociacion General de Coreanos Residentes en Japon) en la prefectura de Osaka.
Al respecto, el diario Rodong Sinmun divulgo este martes un comentario individual calificando de imperdonable ese grave acto terrorista politico.
Los reaccionarios japoneses justifican ahora esa medida como si fuera una simple "cuestion economica", senala el comentarista y continua:
Las maniobras de los reaccionarios japoneses encaminadas a arrebatar esa instalacion de la Chongryon no significan un asunto financiero de algun organo judicial o compania.
Resulta incuestionable que la nueva campana anti-Chongryon parte del complot y la indicacion directa de los reaccionarios japoneses quienes se proponen a suprimir esta entidad y las actividades de los coreanos radicados en Japon al eliminar fisicamente sus centros de actividades mediante la estrangulacion financiera.
Al mismo tiempo, esa medida, que resulta un producto directo de la politica hostil de Japon a Corea, vuelve a corroborar el atributo gangsteril, la bajeza moral y la asquerosidad de aquellos tipejos.
Detras de ella se halla un intento criminal de ellos de llevar al fracaso el proceso de las conversaciones a 6 partes e implantar la esfera de dominio sobre Asia.
Si Japon sigue maniobrando para acabar con la Chongryon y buscar la "cooperacion en la campana de presion" contra la RPDC, esta se vera obligada a tomar una contramedida mas fuerte.
Minju Joson comenta redistribucion de las fuerzas armadas de EE.UU.
Pyongyang, 29 de enero (ATCC) -- Segun la "Hoja de ruta de ubicacion de las fuerzas aereas de Estados Unidos para el siglo 21", publicada recientemente por el jefe del Estado Mayor de esta fuerza armada, este pais pretende emplazar dentro del ano en curso un "Global Hawk", sofisticado avion de espionaje teledirigido de gran altura, y un "F-22" con funciones de Stealth en las bases en la isla Guam y Hawai en el Mar Pacifico, respectivamente.
En un comentario individual publicado este martes, el rotativo Minju Joson resalta que ese plan es la senal de que EE.UU. esta cimentando desde ahora la base para convertir la region de Asia-Pacifico en el teatro operacional mas importante de sus tropas en el siglo 21.
La esencia de la estrategia de defensa del siglo 21 de EE.UU. es mejorar la movilidad de sus tropas mediante la redistribucion a fin de posibilitar el rapido despliegue y operacion militar de ellas en cualquier region del mundo, desenmascara el comentarista y continua:
En ese sentido, la referida hoja de ruta insinua que los cerebros a cargo de trazar las politicas del circulo militar de EE.UU. consideran la region del Nordeste Asiatico, inclusive la Peninsula Coreana, como el campo de enfrentamiento y el teatro operacional para implantar su dominio militar.
Actualmente, estabilizar la situacion de la Peninsula Coreana resulta el enfoque y la tarea principal de la politica mundial.
EE.UU. desempena un papel muy importante y responsable en este asunto y habia aclarado su posicion de solucionar mediante el dialogo y por via pacifica los problemas pendientes con Corea.
Sin embargo, esta cometiendo acciones no apegadas a sus compromisos.
Las experiencias historicas mostraron que la presion militar y la politica intransigente no contribuyeron en nada al desarrollo de las relaciones RPDC-EE.UU. sino solo llevan al extremo la situacion regional.
EE.UU. debe tomar una correcta opcion tras reflexionar seriamente de las nefastas consecuencias que emanen de su anacronica politica hostil a Corea.
