Kim Jong Il Receives CPC Delegation
Pyongyang, January 30 (KCNA) -- General Secretary Kim Jong Il Wednesday received the delegation of the International Liaison Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China led by its Head Wang Jiarui on a visit to the DPRK.
Wang conveyed the greetings of Hu Jintao, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the CPC and president of China, to Kim Jong Il and presented him with the gift prepared by the delegation before showing a CD introducing Jilin City, one of the cities associated with revolutionary activities of President Kim Il Sung.
Expressing thanks for this, Kim Jong Il asked Wang to convey his regards to Hu Jintao before having a cordial and friendly conversation with him.
Kim Jong Il gave a luncheon for the guests.
The luncheon proceeded in an amicable atmosphere.
On hand were Kang Sok Ju, first vice-minister of Foreign Affairs, and Liu Xiaoming, Chinese ambassador to the DPRK.
CPC Delegation Feted
Pyongyang, January 30 (KCNA) -- The Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea hosted a reception on Tuesday in honor of the delegation of the International Liaison Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) on a visit to the DPRK.
Present there on invitation were members of the delegation led by its Head Wang Jiarui, Chinese Ambassador to the DPRK Liu Xiaoming, and officials of the embassy here.
On hand were Choe Thae Bok, secretary of the C.C., WPK, and Kim Thae Jong, vice-department director of the C.C., WPK, and officials concerned.
Choe Thae Bok in a speech at the reception referred to the great successes made by the CPC in the socialist modernization drive last year by strengthening the party and motivating all people with its 17th congress as an occasion.
It is the common desire of the Korean and Chinese peoples to boost the friendly relations between the two parties and two countries, he said.
He expressed belief that the traditional DPRK-China friendship would grow stronger in the new year, too, thanks to the concerted efforts of the two parties and peoples in the spirit agreed upon between the top leaders of the two countries.
Wang Jiarui said in a speech that last year the Korean people made an important advance in developing economy and improving the standard of people's living in the spirit of self-reliance and fortitude and boosting the inter-Korean relations and foreign relations, united close around the Workers' Party of Korea headed by its General Secretary Kim Jong Il.
Pointing out that the friendly and cooperative relations between China and the DPRK have steadily developed under the deep care of the top leaders of the two parties and two countries, he noted this is an indication that the traditional Sino-DPRK relations of friendship are growing stronger even under the complicated international situation.
This year will witness the Sino-DPRK friendly relations entering a higher stage, he said, stressing the CPC would join the Korean comrades in the positive efforts to boost these ties.
Greetings to Jordanian King
Pyongyang, January 30 (KCNA) -- Kim Yong Nam, president of the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly, Wednesday sent a message of greetings to Abdullah II, King of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, on the occasion of his 46th birthday.
Kim in the message sincerely wished the king greater success in his responsible work for the progress and prosperity of the country.
Greetings to 10th Ordinary Session of African Union
Pyongyang, January 30 (KCNA) -- Kim Yong Nam, president of the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly, sent a message of greetings to the 10th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of heads of state and government of the African Union Wednesday.

The great successes made by the AU recently in achieving the independent development and the political and economic integration of the continent and ensuring regional peace and stability powerfully encourage the developing countries in their common cause of establishing just and fair international relations.

Pyongyang, January 30 (KCNA) -- Kim Yong Il, premier of the DPRK Cabinet, sent a congratulatory message to Samak Sundaravej upon his election as Prime Minister of Thailand.
The message sincerely wished the prime minister success in his responsible work for the stability and prosperity of the country, expressing the belief that the friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries would grow stronger on good terms.
Gifts to Kim Jong Il from Kuwait
Pyongyang, January 30 (KCNA) -- General Secretary Kim Jong Il received gifts from figures of several Kuwaiti companies on the occasion of his birthday.
The gifts were conveyed to Korean officials concerned working in Kuwait.
Good Species of Trees Bred
Pyongyang, January 30 (KCNA) -- Scientists of the Branch Academy of Forestry under the State Academy of Sciences have of late bred good species of trees.
They include fast growing poplar, high-yielding walnut and a new species of paulownia.
The fast growing poplar grows more than three meters a year.
Its timber productivity is twice Pyongyang poplar and it does not let fly pollen or cilium which pollutes the atmosphere. When it is planted in right soil and intensively tended, it can produce 500-700 cubic meters of timber for fiber and paper per hectare five years after it is planted.
The ratio between fruit-bearing and developmental branches of the high-yielding walnut is 9 to 1 as against 5 to 5 of the ordinary one, its per-hectare yield of fruit reaching 3 tons.
The new species of paulownia grows about five meters on an average a year.
The tree two to four years old can be used for pulp production and those more than five years old for making musical instruments and quality furniture. It provides more than 300 cubic meters of quality wood per hectare when it is ten years old.
Fine Trait of Assisting People Displayed by KPA Soldiers
Pyongyang, January 30 (KCNA) -- Servicepersons of the Korean People's Army sent a large quantity of quality aquatic products to Pyongyang citizens.
True to the Workers' Party of Korea's policy of always giving preference to the improvement of people's livelihood, they devotedly caught quality aquatic products including hairy crabs in the East Sea in a short span of time.
The seafood was handed over to public service workers under the Pyongyang City Bureau for Direction of Public Service on Jan. 29.
Officials and public service workers under the bureau organized a centre for specially supplying the aquatic products at the Pyongyang Seafood Department Store while improving service in every way.
Joint Actions for Defending Global Peace and Security Called for
Pyongyang, January 30 (KCNA) -- In order to defend peace it is necessary for all countries and nations to maintain independence, stand up against the policy of strength and intensify the international joint actions to avert aggression and war.

The imperialist forces are the main obstacle lying in the way of the struggle of the progressive countries and peoples to achieve peace and national prosperity in the new century.
Defending peace is a slogan of struggle to be always held aloft by the progressive countries that love justice and peace.

In order to defend peace from war the world peace-loving forces should go united to deal heavy blows at the imperialist aggressor forces.

Japan's Moves to Build Missile Shield under Fire
Pyongyang, January 30 (KCNA) -- The Japan Defense Ministry recently conducted a field survey of the central part of Tokyo for deploying "PAC-3" of the "Self-Defense Forces" (SDF) in the capital. This indicates that Japan is working hard to complete the building of a missile shield at an early date by accelerating the establishment of the ground missile defence system, keeping pace with that of the marine MD which has already entered a full-fledged stage. Minju Joson Wednesday observes this in a signed commentary.
It goes on:
Japan is showing such unusual zeal in building the missile shield not because it feels a sort of "security threat" from someone, but because it is keen to become a military power by effectively availing itself of the U.S. moves to establish the MD in a bid to overpower China and emerge a "leader" in Asia.
Japan has now become part of the forces for the implementation of the U.S. strategy for world domination, i.e. the most important base for carrying out the U.S. strategy for dominating Asia-Pacific.
The U.S. is pushing forward its moves to build the East European missile shield in the Czech Republic and Poland and set up the same type missile shield in Japan.
This proves that Japan's moves to build the missile shield being stepped up under the active backing of the U.S. is, in the final analysis, to serve the purposes of military pressure and preemptive attack against the DPRK and its neighboring powers including Russia and China.
Japan's involvement in the U.S. MD is as foolish an act as pricking its own eyes. Its move to deploy missiles for preemptive attack in the capital city, in particular, is little short of allowing it to be the primary target of rival forces.
U.S. Continues Deploying Additional Air Force in S. Korea
Pyongyang, January 30 (KCNA) -- The U.S. imperialists continue deploying various type warplanes in the air force bases of the U.S. aggressor forces in south Korea to keep them ready for actions from the outset of the year, according to a military source.
Overseas-based F-15s and F-16s were deployed on Jan. 28 and formations of AV-8 on Jan. 15 in the U.S. air force bases in south Korea.
Hundreds of servicemen and a wing of F-16s of the 20th combat air division belonging to the U.S. 9th Air Force based in South Carolina were recently deployed in the air force base in Kunsan of south Korea.
Meanwhile, formations of overseas-based F/A-18 periodically flew in the air above Jik Islet in the West Sea of Korea and Thaebaek area of Kangwon Province of south Korea for the madcap exercise of making surprise air strikes at targets under the simulated conditions of a real battle.
The above-said air force deployments are not a simple transfer of armed forces but an escalation of the moves to invade the DPRK.
The U.S. imperialists' introduction of many war planes into south Korea from their mainland and overseas bases from the onset of the year is an extension of their scenario to militarily stifle the DPRK and another dangerous military provocation against it.
What should not be overlooked is the fact that the U.S. imperialists openly blackmail the DPRK, even disclosing this arms build-up and war moves to media.
This clearly indicates that much talk made by the U.S. about "dialogue" and "negotiation" in a bid to create the impression that it is interested in the improved DPRK-U.S. relations is nothing but a smokescreen to hide its policy of aggression towards the DPRK and the U.S. imperialist warmongers' scenario to invade the DPRK remains unchanged.
More than 160 Cases of Aerial Espionage Committed by U.S. and S. Korean Forces
Pyongyang, January 30 (KCNA) -- The U.S. imperialist warmongers committed more than 90 cases of aerial espionage against the DPRK in January while the south Korean forces perpetrated over 70 cases, according to a military source.
On January 29, the U.S. imperialist aggression forces' south Korea-based U-2 made a shuttle flight to perpetrate photographing and electronic reconnaissance against all areas of the DPRK. The number of cases of aerial espionage by this plane reached more than 20 in the month.
The U.S. imperialists mobilized RC-12, RC-7B and E-3 to perpetrate aerial espionage against the DPRK from January 15 to 23.
On January 23 four RC-800s of the south Korean forces took off by turns and made shuttle flights to commit aerial observation and photographing of the DPRK. The number of cases of aerial espionage by this plane reached more than 50 in the month.
Korean People's Greatest Holidays to Be Commemorated in Democratic Congo
Pyongyang, January 30 (KCNA) -- A Democratic Congolese preparatory committee for commemorating the Day of the Sun and February 16 was formed with due ceremony in Kinshasa on Jan. 24.
The inaugural ceremony elected Evariste Boshab, secretary general of the People's Party for the Reconstruction and the Democracy of Democratic Congo chairman of the preparatory committee.
The preparatory committee set the period from Feb. 1 to Apr. 25 as a commemoration period and decided to organize colorful events including seminar, lecture, round-table talks and film show in the period.
Kim Jong Il Praised
Pyongyang, January 30 (KCNA) -- The Group of Dialectical Materialists of Italy released a booklet titled "Kim Jong Il, leader deeply trusted by people" on Jan. 21 on the occasion of his birthday.
The booklet carried a photograph of Kim Jong Il standing on the tribune of honor of Kim Il Sung Square.
An article of the booklet said that he authored "Socialism Is a Science" and the "Our Socialism Centred on the Masses Shall Not Perish" and other famous works, proving the scientific accuracy and truth of socialism and indicating the orientation and ways of intensifying the socialist movement.
Noting that he saw to it that the historic Pyongyang Declaration "Let us defend and advance the cause of socialism" was adopted, the booklet added that as a result, the socialist movement is now making a dynamic advance world-wide.
A drive to build an economic power is now under way in the DPRK, pursuant to the Songun policy of Kim Jong Il, and many successes have been registered in it, the booklet noted, stressing that no statesman enjoys such absolute support from the people as he does.

Primero, el Dirigente recorrio la sala de presentacion del historial donde recordo con gran emocion la gloriosa trayectoria de desarrollo de la mina que bajo la guia del Presidente Kim Il Sung, vino recorriendo el unico camino de victorias y prosperidad.
Senalo que gracias a la destacada direccion y la esmerada atencion del Presidente, la mina se convirtio en una moderna base de produccion de minerales no ferrosos y destaco que las inmortales hazanas revolucionarias del Presidente seran grabadas eternamente en la historia de esta empresa.
Escucho explicaciones ante la maqueta de deposito mineral y recorrio el campo de extraccion para informarse del estado de renovacion tecnologica de las cadenas productivas y de la produccion de minerales.
Luego de cerciorarse en los talleres de trituracion y de enriquecimiento de minerales de las condiciones de equipos y el estado de produccion, el estimulo a los mineros quienes estan atizando la llama del aumento productivo para la prosperidad y el desarrollo del pais.

Para normalizar la produccion de metales no ferrosos, es muy importante anteponer la produccion de mineral concentrado al desprender y tratar enorme cantidad del mineral, dijo y destaco la necesidad del mejor mantenimiento y reparacion de todas las instalaciones de extraccion, transporte y concentracion para elevar la eficiencia de su funcionamiento.
Apunto que para ahorrar y utilizar con eficiencia de generacion en generacion los abundantes recursos subterraneos de la mina, es necesario preparar suficientemente la cantidad de minerales de reserva al anteponer la prospeccion y tomar las medidas de extraccion de minerales en los estratos profundos basadas en la ciencia y tecnica de punta.
El mismo dia, el Dirigente recorrio el Lugar Historico de la Revolucion de Naedong de la cabeza del distrito de Jasong.
En este lugar historico el indoblegable combatiente revolucionario Kim Hyong Jik libro en 1920 y en el otono de 1921 sus dinamicas actividades revolucionarias para llamar a los obreros, campesinos y otras masas de distintas capas a la lucha antiimperialista.
Luego de escuchar explicaciones ante el monumento, recorrio los edificios historicos que se conservan en su estado original e hizo conocimiento del estado de la operacion de este lugar historico de la revolucion y la labor de educacion.
Senalo que en la provincia de Jagang hay muchos lugares historicos, inclusive los de la revolucion, donde estan impregnadas las sagradas huellas del Presidente Kim Il Sung.
Por lo tanto, -agrego- se debe conservarlos bien en su estado original e intensificar la labor de educacion a traves de los mismos para armar mas firmemente a los militantes del partido, los trabajadores, los militares y los jovenes y ninos escolares con la idea revolucionaria del PTC.
Sostuvo conversaciones con los funcionarios directivos del distrito de Jasong averiguando del estado de la gestion economica como la agricultura y dijo que se debe aumentar ininterrumpidamente la produccion agricola para mejorar las condiciones de vida de los habitantes locales.

Kim Jong Il se reune con delegacion del CC de PCCh
Pyongyang, 30 de enero (ATCC) -- El Dirigente Kim Jong Il, Secretario General del Partido del Trabajo de Corea y Presidente del Comite de Defensa Nacional de la Republica Popular Democratica de Corea se encontro el dia 30 con la delegacion del Departamento de Enlace Internacional del Comite Central del Partido Comunista de China encabezada por su jefe Wang Jiarui, de visita en Corea.
En la ocasion Wang Jiarui transmitio al Dirigente el saludo de Hu Jintao, Secretario General del CC del PCCh y Presidente de la Republica Popular China, le entrego regalo preparado por la delegacion y le presento un videocasete que da a conocer la ciudad de Jilin que es uno de los lugares relacionados con las actividades revolucionarias del Presidente Kim Il Sung.
El Dirigente expreso agradecimiento al respecto, envio su saludo a Hu Jintao y departio con el huesped chino en un clima cordial y amistoso.

Kim Yong Nam felicita la 10a sesion ordinaria de la UA
Pyongyang, 30 de enero (ATCC) -- El presidente del Presidium de la Asamblea Popular Suprema de la Republica Popular Democratica de Corea, Kim Yong Nam, envio el dia 30 un mensaje de felicitacion a la 10a sesion ordinaria de la Asamblea de Estados y Gobiernos de la Union Africana.
