Kim Jong Il Sends Educational Aid Fund and Stipends to Children of Koreans in Japan
Pyongyang, April 12 (KCNA) -- General Secretary Kim Jong Il sent 205 million yen as educational aid fund and stipends to the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon) for the democratic national education of the children of Koreans in Japan on the occasion of the 96th birth anniversary of President Kim Il Sung.
This remittance brought the total amount of the educational aid fund and stipends sent by Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il to Chongryon in 154 installments for the above-said purpose up to this date to 46,211,223,000 yen.
Order and Medal Commemorating Diamond Jubilee of DPRK Instituted
Pyongyang, April 13 (KCNA)--The Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly of the DPRK on April 10 promulgated a decree on instituting the Order and Medal Commemorating the 6Oth Anniversary of the Founding of the DPRK.
The decree said:
We will greet before long the 60th anniversary of the founding of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, our glorious country.
The DPRK is the great country of the people, an invincible socialist power, based on the Juche idea and a banner of the national dignity of the sovereign country and its grandeur and prosperity.
President Kim Il Sung's founding of the DPRK on September 9, Juche 37 (1948) marked a historic event which put forward the Korean people as an independent and mighty revolutionary people and ushered in a new era of building a socialist state centered on the popular masses.
The 60 year-long history of the DPRK represents a history of great changes in which it emerged a powerful state, independent, self-supporting and self-reliant in defence, recording a heroic epic of creation and construction under the guidance of the party and the leader and a sacred path along which it has powerfully demonstrated the advantages and invincibility of socialism of Korean style despite the stern tempest of the anti-imperialist struggle.
Kim Il Sung built new socialist Korea by embodying the idea of believing in people as in Heaven for the first time in the nation's history spanning 5,000 years and laid an eternal foundation for the prosperity of the country and the nation by working heart and soul all his life. These imperishable exploits will shine for all ages.
It is the immense honor and pride for the army and people to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the founding of the DPRK in the stirring period when the nation's dignity and power have been put on the highest level and they greeted the golden days of great prosperity unprecedented in the nation's history thanks to the great Songun politics.

Torch Relay for 29th Olympic Games Supported
Pyongyang, April 12 (KCNA) -- A spokesman for the Olympic Committee of the DPRK gave the following answer to a question put by KCNA in connection with the torch relay for the 29th Olympic Games:
The torch relays for the 29th Olympic Games to be held in China in August this year are now underway amid the support and welcome from sportspersons and other people of various countries.
However, there occurred incidents of creating difficulties in the way of events in some countries.
The Olympic Committee of the DPRK positively supports the above-said torch relays taking place in line with the Olympic idea of peace and friendship and vehemently condemns some disruptive forces' obstructions as a challenge to the Olympic idea.
It is our belief that the international community including the International Olympic Committee will conduct the above-mentioned torch relay in the Olympic idea and spirit as planned.
The Olympic Committee of the DPRK is now pushing ahead at a final phase with all preparations for successfully ensuring the torch relay slated to take place in Pyongyang on April 28 in close touch with the Organizing Committee of the 29th Olympiad.
This event will take place in the most secure and smooth manner as planned in the DPRK where all the people have formed a big harmonious family, single-mindedly united around the WPK, a great party.
Negotiated Solution of Nuclear Issue Urged
Pyongyang, April 13 (KCNA) -- It is the consistent stand of the DPRK to seek a peaceful negotiated settlement of the nuclear issue and its ultimate goal is to realize the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.
A DPRK delegate said this in a speech made at the annual meeting of the United Nations Disarmament Commission on April 8.
Recalling that now a very tense situation is prevailing on the Korean Peninsula due to the reckless moves of the anti-DPRK, anti-reunification forces at home and abroad, he added these acts cannot but be a very regretful development as they are aimed at bringing back the positive situation in the region favorable for reconciliation and cooperation to the phase of confrontation.
He said that the DPRK government has made patient efforts for the peaceful solution to the nuclear issue but the U.S. has not yet taken any measures to cross the DPRK off the list of sponsors of terrorism and stop applying the trading with the enemy act to it, the commitments the U.S. should fulfill on the principle of action for action.
If the U.S. sincerely wishes the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula, it should not throw hurdles in the way of settling the nuclear issue with such hostile actions as joint military exercises with south Korea but show its will to unroll its hostile policy towards the DPRK in practice as it committed itself to do so, he declared.
The south Korean authorities should stop heading for the anachronistic confrontation with the DPRK, being subservient to outside forces, but behave themselves as required by the historic June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration, he urged.
Holding that this meeting should mark an occasion in realizing the strong desire of humankind for a nuclear-free world, he urged the nuclear weapons states, the U.S. having the world's biggest nuclear arsenal, in particular, to commit themselves to take substantial measures for nuclear arms reduction aimed at the complete elimination of nuclear weapons and thus contribute to attaining the objective of the meeting.

Premieres of 1st National Art Festival Given
Pyongyang April 12 (KCNA) -- Premieres of the first national art festival commemorating the Day of the Sun were given at 12 theatres in Pyongyang on Friday drawing capacity audiences.
Among the performers were winners of international and national concours, people's actors and actresses, merited actors and actresses, artistes of national and local art organizations, overseas Korean artistes, members of itinerant art squads and working people's art groups.

Pyongyang, April 13 (KCNA) -- The national students basketball games took place in Phyongsong, South Phyongan Province between April 5 and 12 to commemorate the Day of the Sun.
The games brought together at least 20 organizations which were divided into university and college groups.
Male and female players of Kim Il Sung University placed first in the matches of the university group.

New Documentary Screened
Pyongyang, April 12 (KCNA) -- Documentary film "Father of All Families of Country" was screened at the People's Palace of Culture Saturday on the occasion of the Day of the Sun.
The film deals with the history of great loving care shown by President Kim Il Sung who worked heart and soul to enable the people to lead a more affluent and happier life, considering it as his maxim to believe in people as in Heaven.
It also contains impressive scenes showing the true picture of immense happiness and the single-minded unity of the Korean people who have formed a big family holding the President in high esteem as their real father.

Reception Given by Cuban Ambassador
Pyongyang, April 12 (KCNA) -- Jose Manuel Galego Montano, Cuban ambassador to the DPRK, hosted a reception at his embassy on Friday on the occasion of the Day of the Sun and the 15th anniversary of General Secretary Kim Jong Il's election as chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission.

Vietnamese Embassy Officials Visit Mangyongdae
Pyongyang, April 12 (KCNA) -- Ambassador Le Van Cu and staff members of the Vietnamese embassy here visited Mangyongdae on Saturday on the occasion of the Day of the Sun.
The guests laid a floral basket at the old home of President Kim Il Sung in Mangyongdae.

DPRK Proves Successful at Asian Taekwon-Do Championships
Pyongyang, April 12 (KCNA) -- Players of the DPRK proved successful at the 4th Asian Taekwon-Do Championships held in Kazakhstan from April 2 to 6.
The DPRK bagged 24 gold, two silver and six bronze medals at the championships to come first in the total standings of countries.
Its players took the first place in the adult men's and women's team standings, the men's and women's team pattern competitions and the women's team sparring matches.
In the adult group, Yun Chung Nam, Pu Song Jin and Mun Hyok picked up gold medals in men's patterns individual, Ri Chol Ok in women's pattern individual, exhibition for special skills and over 75kg sparring matches, An Yun Mi in women's pattern individual and 63kg sparring, O Kum Ju in women's pattern individual and 75kg sparring, Sin Jong Hwa in women's self-defence martial art and 69kg sparring individual and Kim Chol, Ji Chol Guk and Pak Yong Bom respectively in men's 50kg, 57kg and 78kg sparring individual and Paek Un Hyang in women's 57kg sparring individual.

Title of Generalissimo Associated with Boundless Reverence
Pyongyang, April 12 (KCNA) -- President Kim Il Sung was awarded the title of Generalissimo of the DPRK on April 13, Juche 81 (1992).
The title is permeated with heartfelt reverence of the servicepersons and people for the brilliant commander of Mt. Paektu who founded the heroic Korean People's Army, revolutionary armed forces, and defeated two imperialisms with his outstanding military ability in one generation to defend the dignity and sovereignty of the nation.
The President was handed over two pistols carrying the lofty patriotic will from his father Kim Hyong Jik in his early years. He, giving priority to arms, dedicated his whole life to the struggle for the freedom and liberation of the country and to the happiness of the people.
He applied strategy, tactics and guerrilla war methods unprecedented in the history to the war against Japanese imperialism. They are still shining as miracle in the world military history.
The DPRK under the guidance of the brilliant commander also wrought a military miracle in the 1950s.
He with his unique war tactics shattered into smithereens "the myth of mightiness" of U.S. imperialism which started the war to stamp out the young DPRK, thus striking the military experts of the world with admiration.

Pyongyang, April 12 (KCNA) -- The revolutionary spirit of Mt. Paektu, created during the protracted and hard-fought anti-Japanese struggle, is a source of all the miracles wrought by the DPRK in the present times and it is a symbol of heroism displayed by the Korean army and people, says Rodong Sinmun in an editorial article Saturday.
With this great spirit the army and people of the DPRK defeated two imperialist formidable enemies and built a powerful socialist country from scratch, the article says, adding that the victory of the Songun revolution won by the DPRK that brought the dawn of a great prosperous powerful nation after successfully concluding the "Arduous March" precisely means the victory by the above-said spirit.
The Korean army and people's ideological and moral mainstay is the revolutionary spirit of Mt. Paektu that was created under the leadership of President Kim Il Sung during the grim anti-Japanese war, it notes, and goes on:
This spirit represents absolute and unconditional loyalty to the leader, the spirit of self-reliance and fortitude and the indefatigable fighting spirit.

Pyongyang, April 12 (KCNA) -- A memorial service was held in Seoul on April 8 for the victims of the "case of the People's Revolutionary Party" under the sponsorship of the Society for Commemorating Participants in the Democratic Movement and others in south Korea.
Present at the memorial service were figures of different circles including O Jong Ryol, co-chairman of the Solidarity for Progress of south Korea, and Ro Jung Son, co-representative of the April Revolution Society, those related to the case and bereaved families of the victims.
Speakers there noted that 33 years have passed since the pro-reunification patriots were killed after being branded as prime movers in the "case of the People's Revolutionary Party" and that the problem has not been settled yet though they were declared not guilty at the court.
Noting that with the emergence of the present "government" the south Korean society is getting more conservative, they stressed that it presents itself as an urgent issue to inherit the spirit of the martyrs who devoted their lives to reunification.
They underscored the need to fully probe the truth behind the "case" in order to prevent the repetition of such grievous deaths.
They demanded the "government" immediately abolish the "National Security Law" and opt to work for achieving the reunification of the country, the hope of all the people.
A video on the theme "They are born to be flowers for reunification and peace" was shown at the memorial service.
South Korea-U.S. Security Meeting under Fire
Pyongyang, April 12 (KCNA) -- The People for Achieving Peace and Reunification, the South Headquarters of the National Alliance for the Country's Reunification and the Association for Supporting Prisoners of Conscience of the Family Movement for Realizing Democracy in south Korea jointly called a press conference in Seoul on April 8 to denounce the south Korea-U.S. "meeting on security policy initiative."
Speakers there referred to the fact that the 17th "meeting on security policy initiative" opened in Seoul that day. They held that what is a matter of concern is that the Lee Myung Bak regime intends to fully meet the U.S. demands for increasing south Korea's share of the upkeep of the U.S. forces in south Korea incurred by the expenses for the transfer of the Second Division of the U.S. forces in south Korea and the participation in the missile defense system (MD) and the PSI.
A press release read out there accused the U.S. of behaving arbitrarily, blustering that the expenses for the transfer of the Second Division of the U.S. forces in south Korea should be covered with south Korea's share of the upkeep of the U.S. forces in south Korea.
It demanded the military authorities abrogate the humiliating agreement on sharing the upkeep of the U.S. forces and urged the Lee regime to stop at once the discussion on the participation in the MD and PSI, pull out of the aggressive "alliance" with the U.S. and opt for achieving peace on the Korean Peninsula.
At the end of the press conference the participants launched a one-man demonstration.
Day of Sun Commemorated in Cuba
Pyongyang, April 13 (KCNA) -- A meeting was held in Havana on April 7 under the co-sponsorship of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples and the Cuban Committee for Supporting Korea's Reunification to commemorate the Day of the Sun.
The chairman of the Cuban Committee for Supporting Korea's Reunification in his speech at the meeting said that the revolutionary history of President Kim Il Sung is a history of the greatest man, noting that they would as ever positively support and encourage the Korean people in their struggle to achieve the country's reunification under the leadership of Kim Jong Il, true to the behests of Kim Il Sung.
Kim Il Sung will live forever in the hearts of not only the Korean people but of the Cuban people, he stressed.

Seminars on Kim Jong Il's Feats Held in Russia and Czech Republic
Pyongyang, April 13 (KCNA) -- Seminars on the immortal Songun revolutionary leadership exploits of General Secretary Kim Jong Il were held in Russia and the Czech Republic on April 3 and 4 on the occasion of the Day of the Sun and the 15th anniversary of his election as chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission.

Jiri Jarka, honorary chairman of the association, said that under the leadership of Kim Jong Il the Korean People's Army has grown to be a reliable defender of the socialist cause and an invincible army possessed of transparent idea and faith and modern military technique.
Kim Il Sung's Work Published
Pyongyang, April 13 (KCNA) -- President Kim Il Sung's famous work "10-Point Programme of the Great Unity of the Whole Nation for the Reunification of the Country" was brought out in pamphlet by the Russian Association for the Development of Friendship and Cooperation with Foreign Countries on April 5.
This work was published on April 6, Juche 82 (1993).
Kim Il Sung's Immortal Exploits Praised
Pyongyang, April 13 (KCNA) -- The immortal exploits performed by President Kim Il Sung were praised by personages in different countries.
Otete Gaston Mboyo, chairman of the National Committee of the Genuine Lumumbist Patriotic Party of Democratic Congo, in a statement released on April 5 on the occasion of the Day of the Sun said that Kim Il Sung who fathered the Juche idea exerted great influence not only on the ideological and moral life of humankind but on the promotion of the world revolution, stressing that the President made great contributions to the liberation cause of the African countries including Democratic Congo.

Dominican Preparatory Committee for Commemorating Day of Sun Formed
Pyongyang, April 13 (KCNA) -- A Dominican preparatory committee for commemorating the Day of the Sun and September 9 was formed on March 30.
Fernando Sanchez Martinez, chairman of the Dominican Committee for Supporting the Reunification of Korea, was elected chairman of the preparatory committee.

Pyongyang, April 12 (KCNA) -- Round-table talks were held in Egypt and a seminar took place in Bangladesh and a lecture in Ethiopia from April 1 to 3 on the occasions of the Day of the Sun, the 15th anniversary of General Secretary Kim Jong Il's election as chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission and the 76th founding anniversary of the heroic Korean People's Army.
On display in the venues of the functions were photos showing the immortal Songun revolutionary leadership exploits performed by President Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il.

Ahmad Hassan, general secretary of the Nasser Arab Democratic Party of Egypt, said that Kim Il Sung rendered disinterested support and solidarity to the people of the Arab countries including Egypt in their just struggles, adding that his party would boost the relations with the WPK and earnestly learn from its experience in the party building.

Kim Jong Il's Exploits in Leading Army Praised
Pyongyang, April 12 (KCNA) -- Saber Ballul, head of a department of the Political Faculty of University of Damascus of Syria, released a statement on April 5 on the occasion of the 15th anniversary of General Secretary Kim Jong Il's election as chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission.

Pyongyang, April 12 (KCNA) -- General Secretary Kim Jong Il's famous work "Let Us Carry Out the Great Leader Comrade Kim Il Sung's Instructions for National Reunification" was brought out by Grafica Aj Hermanos Publishing House of Peru on April 1.
This work, published on August 4, Juche 86 (1997), formulates the immortal exploits performed by President Kim Il Sung in leading the cause of national reunification, the three principles of national reunification, the 10-point programme of the great unity of the whole nation and the proposal for founding the Democratic Federal Republic of Koryo as the three charters for national reunification and indicates tasks and the ways to achieve the cause of national reunification on the basis of the three charters.
30th Founding Anniversary of International Institute of Juche Idea Marked
Pyongyang, April 12 (KCNA) -- The National Committee for the Study of the Juche Idea of Democratic Congo issued an information bulletin on April 3 to mark the 30th founding anniversary of the International Institute of the Juche Idea (IIJI).
The bulletin in an article said that April 9 this year marks the 30th founding anniversary of the institute, noting that the founding of the Juche idea helped put an end to the old era of subjugation and humiliation and usher in a new era of history, an era of independence.

Reckless Remarks of S. Korean Conservative Forces under Fire
Pyongyang, April 13 (KCNA) -- The Paektusan Czech-Korean Friendship Association made public a statement denouncing the reckless remarks of the south Korean conservative forces against the DPRK on April 7.
The association in a statement accused the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the south Korean forces of crying out for a "preemptive strike," raising a hue and cry over the "nuclear threat" from someone at a recent confirmation hearing at the "National Assembly." It also assailed Lee Myung Bak and his group for leaving no means untried to overturn everything that has been achieved between the north and the south since the publication of the June 15 joint declaration, calling for regaining "the lost 10 years."
It termed such behavior of the south Korean authorities sycophancy towards the U.S., open confrontation with the DPRK and a blatant challenge to the independent reunification of Korea and strongly urged the south Korean authorities to drop its hostile policy towards the DPRK and halt their separatist moves at once.
The association expressed full support and solidarity with all measures taken by the DPRK to counter the provocative and hostile behavior of the south Korean authorities and the struggle of the Korean people to achieve the independent and peaceful reunification of the country by implementing the June 15 North-South Joint Declaration and the October 4 declaration.
Lee Myung Bak's Treachery Assailed
Pyongyang, April 13 (KCNA) -- Kwon Chon Sik, chairman of the United Confederation of Koreans in Far East of Russia, made public a statement on April 8 denouncing the south Korean authorities for their moves for confrontation with the DPRK.
Recalling that Lee Myung Bak and his group of south Korea are bringing the inter-Korean relations back to the era of confrontation, swimming against the trend of the era of independent reunification, the statement noted: This is an example of patently showing the true colors of Lee as a man subservient to the U.S. and traitor.
Traitor Lee is rebuffed and denounced by the south Korean people for being a "neo fascist regime" and a "reactionary regime," the statement noted, adding that all the Koreans in the north and the south and overseas are denouncing Lee's sheer sophism with towering national resentment and coming out in a nationwide struggle to throw overboard him.
All the members of the confederation and other compatriots will mercilessly frustrate the treacherous acts of Lee Myung Bak and his group and dynamically turn out in the nationwide struggle for the independent and peaceful reunification of the country, holding aloft the banner of the June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration.
S. Korean Authorities' Anti-DPRK Moves Denounced
Pyongyang, April 12 (KCNA) -- The British Association for the Study of Songun Policy and the British Group for the Study of the Juche Idea issued a joint statement on April 3 denouncing the chairman of the joint chiefs of staff of the south Korean forces for his provocative remarks against the DPRK.
The statement termed the outbursts let loose by this warmonger calling for a "preemptive strike" at the nuclear base of the DPRK provocative and thoughtless remarks little short of a declaration of war against the independent sovereign state and a wanton violation of the June 15 North-South Joint Declaration and the October 4 declaration.
This is nothing but the south Korean reactionary forces' act of overturning the points agreed upon between the north and the south, betraying the nation and self-exposes that the Lee Myung Bak regime is a group of traitors to the nation and pro-U.S. elements, the statement noted.
It assailed the south Korean authorities for becoming evermore undisguised in their crackdown and persecution of the pro-reunification progressive forces and rushing headlong into confrontation with the DPRK, pursuing a pro-U.S. reactionary policy.
The German Group for the Study of Songun Politics and the German branch of the Korean Friendship Association headquartered in Spain issued a joint statement on the same day vehemently denouncing the Lee Myung Bak regime in south Korea for threatening the DPRK and derailing the process of detente on the Korean Peninsula.
Withdrawal of Decision to Extend Sanctions against DPRK Urged in Japan
Pyongyang, April 13 (KCNA) -- A group of Koreans in Kyoto demanding humanitarian measures for home visits by Koreans in Japan called on different political parties, offices in Kyoto Prefecture on April 4 and 8 to demand the Japanese government retract its decision to extend the sanctions against the DPRK.
The group conveyed to Diet members in Kyoto Prefecture from various political parties written requests addressed to members of the House of Representatives from the Liberal Democratic Party, the New Komeito Party, the Democratic Party, the Communist Party and the Social-Democratic Party of Japan.
The written requests referred to the facts that the life and rights of the Koreans in Japan are seriously infringed upon due to the Japanese authorities' sanctions against the DPRK including the embargo on the ship Mangyongbong-92 and the unjust restriction against the reentry of Koreans in Japan.
They urged the Japanese authorities to make a switchover in their policy toward the DPRK in line with the trend of the situation on the Korean Peninsula favorable for peace and reconciliation, instead of discriminating against Koreans in Japan and suppressing them, in the light of the historical background and from a humanitarian point of view.
Forum Calls for Normalization of Japan-DPRK Relations
Tokyo, April 10 (KNS-KCNA) -- A national forum on the Juche idea--"For World Peace and Normalization of Japan-DPRK Diplomatic Ties" was held in Tokyo on April 5.
Shuhachi Inoue, honorary director-general of the International Institute of the Juche Idea, and Nam Sung U, vice-chairman of the Central Standing Committee of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan, made congratulatory speeches and Seiichi Sakugawa, president of the Japanese National Liaison Council of Societies for the Study of the Juche Idea, made a keynote report at the forum.
The reporter referred to the fact that the forum was opened as part of the functions commemorating the Day of the Sun and the 30th anniversary of the International Institute of the Juche Idea. He highly lauded President Kim Il Sung who fathered the Juche idea and, on its basis, built a socialist society where the people have become a master and devoted himself to steadily developing socialism till the last moments of his life.
Noting that General Secretary Kim Jong Il has successfully carried forward the cause of Juche true to the behests of the President, the reporter said that under his wise leadership the Korean people are firmly defending and developing the socialist motherland.
The normalization of the Japan-DPRK diplomatic ties is the ardent desire of the peoples of the two countries and an urgent task whose fulfillment brooks not a moment's delay, he said, calling for conducting a dynamic struggle for its realization.
Speeches were made there by Secretary General of the African Regional Committee for the Study of the Juche Idea Kamwiziku Octave, General Secretary of the Japan-Korea Cultural Interchange Association Jun Shimizu, Director of the International Institute of the Juche Idea Takao Kamakura and other personages.
An appeal adopted at the forum bitterly denounced the Japanese government for its anti-DPRK moves and strongly demanded the government resume the talks for the normalization of the Japan-DPRK diplomatic ties and positively promote multifaceted exchange between the two countries.
Emergency Meeting Held in Japan
Tokyo, April 10 (KNS-KCNA) -- An emergency meeting was held in Urawa City, Saitama Prefecture on April 4 in demand of the lifting of the unreasonable sanctions against the DPRK and a halt to the suppression of Koreans in Japan.
Ri Jong Man, chairman of the Saitama Prefectural Headquarters of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon), addressing the meeting, held that the DPRK-Japan issue should be solved through dialogue, not through sanctions and pressure, and the Japanese authorities should immediately lift the sanctions and stop the suppression of Chongryon and Koreans in Japan.
Then a lecture was given by Takao Kamakura, chairman of the Saitama Prefectural Council for Japan-Korea Friendship and Solidarity.
He said that it is the task facing the council to make the Japanese government admit the failure of the policy of imposing sanctions on the DPRK and unroll it so that an end is put to the suppression of Chongryon and Koreans in Japan and the violation of their rights.
Then the floor was taken by Sumiko Shimizu, representative of the Japanese Women's Society for Solidarity with the Korean Women, and Fumuhiro Himori, member of the House of Representatives of Japan. They stressed the need for the Japanese people to take the lead in the struggle for the lifting of the unreasonable sanctions against the DPRK and a halt to the suppression of Koreans in Japan.
A written request was adopted at the meeting to demand the Japanese government go ahead with the process for the normalization of the DPRK-Japan relations in line with the DPRK-Japan Pyongyang Declaration.
Meanwhile, officials of institutions at different levels under the Saitama Prefectural Headquarters of Chongryon conducted information service in different places on the same day.
Japan's Extension of Unreasonable Sanctions against DPRK Flailed
Tokyo, April 11 (KNS-KCNA) -- Nam Sung U, vice-chairman of the Central Standing Committee of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon), called a press conference on April 11 as regards the decision taken by the Japanese government to extend the sanctions against the DPRK for the third time.
A statement of the Chongryon Central Standing Committee denouncing the Japanese authorities' unwarranted measure to extend sanctions was read out at the press conference.
Recalling that the Japanese government took a decision to extend six months the unreasonable sanctions against the DPRK including total embargo on Mangyongbong-92 and other DPRK-flagged ships at the Cabinet meeting on April 11, the statement noted that this is the third time that the government has taken such a decision.
The statement expressed towering indignation at the continued extension of the dastardly sanctions by the Fukuda regime, the action taken by the Abe regime against Chongryon and Koreans in Japan while becoming undisguised in its hostile policy toward the DPRK, a policy that went off the normal track.

The Japanese government took this tyrannical action, floating sheer rumor that no agreement was reached between the DPRK and the U.S. at the recent DPRK-U.S. Singapore talks despite the fact that a consensus of views was reached at the talks on the U.S. measure to make political compensation and the issue of nuclear declaration essential for winding up the implementation of the October 3 agreement of the six-party talks.
We denounce the recent measure taken by the Japanese government to extend sanctions against the DPRK as a deliberate politically motivated provocation against it and an inhuman and hostile act of disclosing its black-hearted intention to aggravate the DPRK-Japan relations to an extreme pitch of tension and intensify the political suppression and human rights abuses against Chongryon and Koreans in Japan.
It is illogical and an unpardonable crime for Japan to antagonize and politically suppress Koreans and treat them from a chauvinistic point of view, far from fulfilling its moral obligation to protect those who fell victim to the past colonial rule of the Japanese imperialists and Koreans in Japan, their descendents.
The extension of the sanctions against the DPRK is harmful to the six-party talks and the solution of the nuclear issue on the Korean Peninsula as it is a foolish act of going against the wishes of the two peoples of the DPRK and Japan and the international community and swimming against the trend of the times toward the improved bilateral relations and peace in the Korean Peninsula and Northeast Asia.
The Japanese government should honestly fulfill its responsibility to redeem the crimes committed against the Koreans in the past and make an apology and reparation to them and immediately withdraw the anachronistic measure, squarely facing up to the changing international situation surrounding the Korean Peninsula.
We strongly urge Japan to immediately stop the unwarranted political suppression and human rights abuses against Chongryon and Koreans in Japan.

Pyongyang, 12 de abril (ATCC) -- Con motivo del aniversario 96 del natalicio del Presidente Kim Il Sung, el Dirigente Kim Jong Il envio a la Asociacion General de Coreanos Residentes en Japon(chongryon) los subsidios escolares y becas equivalentes a 205 millones de (moneda japonesa) para la educacion nacional democratica de los hijos de los coreanos radicados en Japon.
La suma total de los subsidios escolares y becas, que el Presidente y el Dirigente enviaron a Chongryon en 154 ocasiones hasta la fecha para los hijos de coreanos residentes en Japon, llega a 46 mil 211 millones 223 mil .
Comite Olimpico promete exito de carrera de antorcha olimpica
Pyongyang, 12 de abril (ATCC) -- Entrevistado por la Agencia Telegrafica Central de Corea con respecto a la carrera de relevos de la antorcha de los XXIX Juegos Olimpicos, el portavoz del Comite Olimpico de la Republica Popular Democratica de Corea dio la siguiente respuesta:
En estos dias, tiene lugar en varios paises la carrera de relevos de la antorcha de los XXIX Juegos Olimpicos, que seran inaugurados en agosto de este ano en China, acaparando el apoyo y la bienvenida de los deportistas y habitantes.
Al contrario, en algunos paises suceden incidentes que dificultan ese acto.
El Comite Olimpico de la RPDC apoya activamente esa carrera que se realiza en virtud del ideal olimpico basado en la paz y la amistad y denuncia categoricamente las maniobras de algunas fuerzas malsanas para estropearla calificandolas de desafio a ese ideal.
Al mismo tiempo, expresa la conviccion de que la sociedad internacional, inclusive el Comite Olimpico Internacional, asegurara que la carrera de relevos de la antorcha olimpica se lleve a cabo como lo programado conforme al ideal y espiritu olimpicos.
En estrecha relacion con el comite organizador de la XXIX Olimpiada, impulsamos en la etapa final todos los preparativos para asegurar el exito de la carrera de relevos que atravesara esta capital el 28 de abril.
Esta actividad olimpica se llevara a cabo segura y satisfactoriamente como lo previsto en nuestro pais donde todo el pueblo compactamente unido en torno al gran partido, forma una gran familia armoniosa.
Primera jornada del primer Festival Nacional Artistico por Dia del Sol
Pyongyang, 12 de abril (ATCC) -- Se ofrecieron el dia 11 a la vez en 12 teatros de la capital las funciones del primer Festival Nacional Artistico por el Dia del Sol.
En las funciones de la primera jornada participaron laureados en los concursos nacionales e internacionales, actores del Pueblo y Benemeritos, artistas de las entidades centrales, locales y ultramarinas, miembros de Grupos de Propaganda Artistica Movil y de Grupos Artisticos de Trabajadores.
Ofrecieron sus funciones las artistas de la banda de instrumentos de viento femenina del Ministerio de Seguridad del Pueblo en el Gran Teatro de Pyongyang Este; la orquesta del Instituto de Musica Yun I Sang y los conjuntos artisticos de las provincias de Hamgyong del Sur, de Jagang y Ryanggang en la Casa de Musica Yun I Sang; los premiados en el concurso individual por el "Premio Artistico 16 de Febrero" en el salon musical del Conservatorio Kim Won Gyun de Pyongyang, los actores del Conjunto Artistico de la provincia de Hwanghae del Sur en la Casa Internacional de Cinematografia de Pyongyang.
Los ejecutantes elogiaron altamente las inmortales hazanas revolucionarias y los nobles rasgos del Presidente Kim Il Sung.
El Conjunto Artistico de Coreanos Residentes en Japon ofrecio su funcion en el Gran Teatro de Pyongyang; el Conjunto Artistico de Coreanos Residentes en China y el de la Asociacion Internacional de Coreanos (unidad) en la Casa Central de la Juventud.
Los ejecutantes describieron magnificamente en las canciones, danzas y otras piezas la gran anoranza al Presidente Kim Il Sung quien dio inicio a la nueva historia del movimiento autoctono de los coreanos en ultramar.
En la Casa Central de la Juventud tuvieron lugar las funciones del Grupo de Propaganda Artistica Central Juvenil y el Grupo de Propaganda Artistica de la Direccion de Construccion de la Ciudad de Pyongyang.
En el Teatro Nacional de Drama los artistas del Conjunto Nacional de Drama pusieron en la escena las farsas en un acto "Bajo el mismo techo" y "Opcion".
Los artistas del Conjunto Circense de Pyongyang estrenaron en su Circo la acrobacia sobre el hielo "Es mejor la epoca del Songun", la magia "Pesca abundante de Siluros", la acrobacia corporal "columpio gemelo" y otras piezas.
Los miembros de grupos de propaganda artistica movil de varias unidades de distintas localidades y los miembros de grupos artisticos de trabajadores ofrecieron sus funciones en el Palacio Cultural del Pueblo, la Casa Central de los Obreros y la Casa Cultural del Ministerio de Ferrocarril.
Disfrutaron de los espectaculos los funcionarios de ministerios y organos centrales, miembros del Comite Organizador del Festival, trabajadores, jovenes y estudiantes capitalinos, huespedes extranjeros y coreanos en ultramar.

Inaugurado X festival de Kimilsungias
Pyongyang, 12 de abril (ATCC) -- Quedo inaugurado en esta capital el X Festival de Kimilsungias.
El lugar del presente festival en que se ve la imagen del Presidente Kim Il Sung con amplia sonrisa y que describe la casa natal del Presidente en Mangyongdae forma un mar de dichas flores y otras raras.
En la ocasion estan exhibidas numerosas flores del Sol cultivadas con sinceridad por las unidades del ejercito popular, ministerios, instituciones centrales, fabricas, empresas, militares del EPC, trabajadores, jovenes y ninos escolares, representaciones diplomaticas de varios paises y organizaciones internacionales en Corea, entidades de amistad, organizaciones sociales, companias y personalidades en el extranjero, coreanos residentes en ultramar y chinos radicados en Corea.
Tuvo lugar el dia 11 el acto inaugural del festival en la Exposicion Permanente de Kimilsungias y Kimjongilias.
Al acto asistieron Yang Hyong Sop, el ministro de Cultura Kang Nung Su, funcionarios de ministerios, instituciones centrales y organizaciones de masas, trabajadores, delegaciones de coreanos residentes en ultramar y personalidades coreanas en otros paises.
Tambien, fueron invitados a la cita la delegacion cultural gubernamental de la Republica de Indonesia encabezada por el asistente del ministro de Cultura y Turismo Mukhlis Paeni, el embajador indonesio en Corea Daulat Hotma Audison Passaribu y otros miembros de esta sede diplomatica, y las delegaciones de varios paises del mundo que vinieron a Corea para participar en el presente evento.
En su discurso inaugural Kim Pyong Hun, presidente del CC de la Federacion General de Escritores y Artistas de Corea dijo que este festival mostrara patentemente la ferrea conviccion e indoblegable espiritu del ejercito y el pueblo de Corea que se esfuerzan por abrir la era de gran prosperidad de Corea del Songun (priorizacion militar) bajo la guia del Dirigente Kim Jong Il enalteciendo para siembre como el Sol del Juche al Presidente Kim Il Sung.
En su discurso de felicitacion Mukhlis Paeni senalo que piensa orgulloso de que junto con la kimilsungia las relaciones de amistad entre Corea e Indonesia se desarrollan favorablemente y se consolidan como hoy.
Apunto que las relaciones especiales entre Su Excelencia el Presidente Kim Il Sung y Su Excelencia el Presidente Sukarno sirven hoy de la firme base de la amistad entre los dos paises y el gobierno de la Republica de Indonesia envia siempre el apoyo y respaldo a la Republica Popular Democratica de Corea en cuanto a los problemas internacionales.
