Korean People's Struggle Supported by Venezuelan President
Pyongyang, July 6 (KCNA) -- Hugo Chavez Frias, President of Venezuela Bolivar Republic, on July 3 met and had a friendly conversation with the DPRK delegation led by Kim Hyong Jun, vice-minister of Foreign Affairs, on a visit to his country to participate in the 7th meeting of ministers of information of non-aligned countries that opened in Venezuela.
The President said that the friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries are developing favorably, adding that he would make positive efforts to boost the relations in the future, too.

Floral Baskets Laid before Statue of Kim Il Sung
Pyongyang, July 5 (KCNA) -- The family of Zhang Weihua, anti-Japanese revolutionary martyr, and the Switzerland-Korea Committee today each sent floral baskets to the statue of President Kim Il Sung on Mansu Hill on the occasion of the 14th anniversary of his demise.
Written on the ribbons of the floral baskets were letters "The great leader President Kim Il Sung will always be with us" and "The great leader Comrade Kim Il Sung will live forever."

Pyongyang, July 6 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun Sunday dedicates a signed article to the 7th anniversary of General Secretary Kim Jong Il's work "The Songun Politics of Our Party Is a Powerful Socialist Political Mode."

The work published on July 5, Juche 90 (2001) clearly explains the historical background against which the Songun political mode was created, its roots, the essence and originality of the Songun politics and clarifies the principled issues arising in enforcing it and tasks to be fulfilled to do so.

Pyongyang, July 6 (KCNA) -- Each country and nation can achieve full independence only when their independence is backed by the solid material foundation, ie by their own strong economic potential, self-supporting national economy, says Rodong Sinmun on Sunday in a signed article.

Economic independence provides a material foundation for sovereignty. It is impossible to achieve and uphold the sovereignty of the country and the nation without a material guarantee.
Economic independence makes it possible for each country and nation to independently shape line and policies in conformity with their actual conditions and implement them by their own efforts.
Only when a country builds an independent national economy and achieves economic self-reliance can it develop relations with other countries on the principle of independence and equality and mutual respect and benefit and settle all issues related to international relations according to its own judgement and faith. It is possible to fully ensure the authority and political independence as a sovereign independent state only when they are materially guaranteed by economic self-reliance.

Buddhists' Candlelight Action Staged in Seoul
Pyongyang, July 6 (KCNA) -- A candlelight action against the import of American beef was staged in Seoul on July 4 under the sponsorship of the Solidarity of Buddhist Environmentalists and other Buddhists' organizations.
It was participated in by at least 40,000 Buddhists from across south Korea and citizens from all walks of life.
A "mass on the situation for defending the rights of the people and demanding the government's repentance" was held in the plaza of the city office.
Deploring that the people exercising their legitimate rights have become the target of violence, the participants said that if the candlelight action is allowed to be put down by the base fascist tyranny of the "regime", this will make the life of the people humiliating.
They denounced the Lee Myung Bak "government" for resorting to the fascist suppression, the same trite method as employed by the military dictators to stay in power after seizing it through coups in the past. They queried for whom the "government" is.
Then a resolution was read out.
At the end of the mass its participants staged a demonstration in the direction opposite to "Chongwadae".
Members of the above-said solidarity kicked off a hunger sit-in strike in the plaza that evening.
A grand people's seminar on the candlelight struggle against the American beef import was held in Seoul on the same day.
Lee Myung Bak's Wrong Policy Accused
Pyongyang, July 6 (KCNA) -- Presidents of 198 universities of south Korea on July 3 accused traitor Lee Myung Bak of his wrong policy, according to CBS of south Korea.
At the seminar of presidents of universities held in Yangyang, Kangwon Province of south Korea, they demanded the present "government" keenly feel its responsibility for the mayhem created by the import of American beef and set right the wrong policy.
They urged the "government" to lend an ear to the voices of the people and do its best to stabilize the people's living.
Firing of Those Responsible for Economic Crisis Demanded in S. Korea
Pyongyang, July 6 (KCNA) -- The Democratic Labor Party of south Korea at the "National Assembly" on July 3 demanded the firing of those responsible for the economic crisis including the puppet minister of Planning and Finance, according to KBS of south Korea.
The party accused the present "government" of shifting the responsibility for its policy failure onto others, attributing the deepening economic crisis to the skyrocketing oil price and candlelight demonstrations, far from repenting of it.
Noting that the above-mentioned minister is insisting on the policy in favor of big businesses only, utterly indifferent to the interests of the people, the party warned that if such guys are allowed to operate economy any longer, this will entail irrevocable consequences.
Move to Erect Statue of Walker in S. Korea Assailed
Pyongyang, July 5 (KCNA) -- A spokesman for the North Side Headquarters of the Nationwide Special Committee for Probing the Truth behind GIs' Crimes released a statement on July 5 accusing the pro-U.S. conservative forces in south Korea of contemplating erecting the statue of Walker who met a dog's death in the Korean war at the U.S. 8th Army Command in Ryongsan, Seoul.
The statement branded the above-said move as a blatant challenge to the desire of all Koreans to force the U.S. to pay for the crimes committed by it against them and an act of treachery as it is aimed at quelling the desire of the south Koreans to achieve national reunification through an alliance with the DPRK and inciting worship towards America and confrontation with the DPRK.
It continued:
Walker was a top-class war criminal and a brutal man-killer as he earned ill-fame for massacres and destruction during the Korean war. For this he met a dog's death as a deserved punishment by the Korean nation.
This being a hard reality, the pro-U.S. conservative forces in south Korea are mulling erecting the statue of Walker, chieftain of the aggressor forces and blood sucker, under the strong patronage of the Lee Myung Bak "government." This is an intolerable insult to millions of Koreans who were killed by the U.S. imperialists with their grudge unsettled and unpardonable treachery to serve the U.S.
No one in the world is so stupid as the pro-U.S. conservative forces in south Korea who work to erect a statue of the aggressor who imposed upon the Korean nation horrible sacrifices and disasters, praising him as a "hero."
The reality goes to prove that the above-mentioned forces are the worst traitors in the world.
As long as this group of traitors is allowed to ride roughshod, the south Korean people can never protect their lives, much less defending their dignity and sovereignty, nor can the whole nation escape a horrible disaster.
Lee Myung Bak Group's Traitorous and Anti-Reunification Acts Assailed
Pyongyang, July 5 (KCNA) -- The Secretariat of the Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Fatherland issued a detailed report on July 3 exposing and denouncing such treacherous and anti-reunification acts of the Lee Myung Bak group as backtracking from the north-south agreements, scuttling dialogue and cooperation between the north and the south and desperately pursuing confrontation with the former.
It said:
The Lee Myung Bak regime, not content with slandering the historic June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration, called for totally reexamining them and even nullified them, saying that "the new government is not duty-bound to implement them."
Traitor Lee blustered that "exclusive nationalism would never help settle the south-north relations" and "it is necessary to pursue open nationalism", terming the idea of "By our nation itself" "exclusive nationalism".
Under the signboard of "pragmatic diplomacy" the group adopted the improved relations with outsiders as the first and foremost task of its domestic and foreign policies and openly declared that it would subordinate the north-south relations to the relations with outsiders.
He also jabbered he would handle the inter-Korean relations with "pragmatism" as a yardstick, not on the basis of ideology. This is no more than rhetoric intended to deny the idea of "By our nation itself."
As far as the Lee group's confrontational watchwords of "no nukes, opening and 3,000 dollars" are concerned, they are no more than a product of the deliberate and premeditated smear campaign to stoke mistrust and hostility between the north and the south and push the inter-Korean relations to catastrophe.
Even before taking over the "power" following the puppet presidential elections, the group of traitors laid down what they called "four principles to govern the work with the north." They stipulated in the principles that they would not push forward the working talks and cooperation projects upon which agreements had already been reached between the preceding "government" and the north, before their "pragmatic value and propriety" are discussed with the "committee for the transfer of the presidential office" in advance.
It was exactly for this reason that a series of working contacts including the first meeting of the north-south panel committee for cooperation on railways and the first meeting of the north-south panel committee for cooperation on roads ended without any fruit although they were held in Kaesong late in January and in mid-February.
With the Feb. 25 "presidential inauguration" as a momentum the Lee group officially adopted "no nukes, opening and 3,000 dollars" as its "policy toward the north," dropping a check-bar on the inter-Korean relations in all fields.
The group's moves to break off relations with the north have resulted in scuttling more than 20 north-south dialogue including the second north-south premier talks and the second meeting of the north-south vice-premier-level joint committee on economic cooperation slated to take place within the first half of this year and cooperation projects.
A particular mention should be made of the fact that they suspended all north-south cooperation projects agreed upon between the authorities.
The group made it impossible to carry out an agreement to dispatch a north-south cheering group to Beijing Olympics by north-south railways, to say nothing of the reconstruction and repair of roads and railways.
Upon coming to power, the group unilaterally suspended the cooperation in shipbuilding, disregarding the favor shown by the north.
As regards the issue of setting up "a special zone for peace and cooperation in the West Sea", the group prevented south Korean businessmen from conducting even a field survey, a challenge to the north's sincere efforts.
They stood even in the way of implementing the agreement on "passage, communications and customs clearance" reached between the north and the south.
They put a brake on the construction of the Kaesong Industrial Zone, openly asserting that it is difficult to expand the project unless the "nuclear issue" is settled.
After taking office traitor Lee recklessly found fault with the "nuclear issue" and openly disclosed its stance for confrontation with the north, blustering that "there should be a switchover in the attitude toward the north" and "he would not follow in the footsteps of the preceding government".
The group is persecuting those organizations and people of different social standings aspiring after alliance with the north and reunification including the forces supporting the June 15 joint declaration after branding them as "leftist forces" in a bid to incite confrontation with fellow countrymen. A wholesale purge and suppression of them are now going on.
The group has become evermore frantic in invoking the fascist law, claiming "it is premature to abolish the 'National Security Law'".
On June 25 this group staged the largest-ever anti-DPRK charade in south Korea and abroad and instigated ultra-right conservative organizations to kick up an extremely malignant confrontational racket against the DPRK there.
The Lee clique has acted quite contrary to the agreement reached between the north and the south in which they agreed to put an end to the military relations of hostility and closely cooperate with each other to ensure detente and peace on the Korean Peninsula.
North-targeted war exercises have become more frequent than ever before and arms buildup has been further stepped up since the emergence of the Lee regime.
All facts go to clearly prove that the Lee group is made up of worst traitors bringing misfortune and tragedy to the nation and it is a cancer-like entity hindering the north-south relations and reunification.
The Korean nation can never pardon the above-said traitorous and anti-reunification acts of the Lee group but will keep strict tabs on them.
Candlelight Struggle against Import of American Beef Unabated
Pyongyang, July 5 (KCNA) -- A candlelight struggle against the import of American beef was staged in Seoul Thursday with the participation of more than 20,000 people including members of the civic and public organizations, religious men and citizens of south Korea.
The 57th candlelight meeting was held at the plaza of the city office.
Speakers at the meeting said that what the Lee Myung Bak's "government" has done ever since it has come to power was full of lies and deception. They bitterly condemned the Lee Myung Bak group of traitors, stating that the group has put the people's lives and the right to existence at peril through the humiliating moves to import the American beef.
"It is unpardonable for the police to resort to violence against the people though it is obliged to protect them. The chief of the National Police Office should step down at once as he masterminded the violent suppression," they held.
Noting that the conservative media are bound to be judged by history for misrepresenting candlelight struggles and agitating police violent suppression, they called on the people to turn out in the one million-strong candlelight demonstration slated to take place on July 5.
Prior to this, a "prayer meeting of Christians on the situation to adopt a declaration calling for the people's dignity and ensure peaceful meetings" was held under the sponsorship of the south Korean Council of Christian Churches and the Christian Council of Measures against the Import of American Beef.
Meanwhile, more than one hundred civic and public organizations of including the Headquarters of the People's Movement for the Provision of Safe School Lunch grouping 33 civic and public organizations, the south Korean Federation of Women's Organizations, the Solidarity of Women's Association and the south Korean Network of Measures against the Mad Cow Disease and for the Safety of Foodstuff declared that they would turn out in the movement of boycotting American beef.
Lee Myung Bak's Suppression of Candlelight Action under Fire
Pyongyang, July 5 (KCNA) -- The South Headquarters of the National Alliance for the Country's Reunification in a statement made public on June 30 accused the puppet police of brutally cracking down upon participants of the candlelight struggle and storming into the offices of the People's Measure Council against the Total Opening of south Korean Markets to American Beef and the Solidarity for Progress of south Korea, walking off their members and confiscating papers from there and the chief of the puppet public prosecution office of threatening to "ferret out to the last the prime mover of the illegal violent demonstration and forces behind it and arrest and question them."
Declaring that they would never tolerate the Lee Myung Bak dictatorial regime's violent suppression and its fabrication of the story about "forces behind the scene" and other acts of branding anti-Americanism as hostile act and creating terror, the statement stressed that intensified crackdown would only prompt people to unite in the spirit of "By our nation itself" and condemn sycophancy towards the U.S. and the barbaric regime.
The "media action" grouping 46 media and civic organizations in south Korea held a press conference in front of the Public Prosecution Office in Seoul at which it lashed out at the prosecution's crackdown upon media and civic and social organizations.
Total Renegotiations on Beef Import Demanded in S. Korea
Pyongyang, July 5 (KCNA) -- The Teachers' Union in south Korea issued a statement on July 1, urging traitor Lee Myung Bak to apologize for police violence and come out to the total renegotiations on beef import.
The statement referred to the fact that the Lee Myung Bak "government" mobilized the police forces to suppress the participants of the candlelight demonstrations by merciless violence.
Saying that the present situation reminds one of the military dictatorship era, the statement charged that the prosecution, the police and "Chongwadae" are turning out to suppress the candlelight demonstrations, branding them as "violent demos."
Lee Myung Bak is not lending his ears to the voice of the people, who have been out in streets for two months in demand of the total renegotiations, but intensifying the suppression of them by raising a self-styled sophism that it is a mistake of the people, it pointed out, saying: This is little different from a declaration on total confrontation with the people.
The police and the "government" should bear the responsibility for having cracked down upon the peaceful candlelight actions with shields and clubs, the statement held.
Questioning what the "government" will protect any longer, unhesitatingly having left the people's right to health to the mercy of foreign forces, it urged Lee Myung Bak to apologize to the people, ensure peaceful demonstrations and punish the chief of the Police Office.
Declaring that the union will struggle to the end by joining in the general strike launched by the south Korean Confederation of Trade Unions, the statement demanded that the Lee Myung Bak "government" repeal the "official instructions" and come out to the full renegotiations on beef import immediately.
Lee "Government's" Suppression of Candlelight Actions Blasted
Pyongyang, July 5 (KCNA) -- The Federation of Koreans in the U.S. issued a statement on June 29 denouncing the Lee Myung Bak group for their violent suppression of the candlelight actions against the import of American beef.
The Lee "government" is resorting to the same fascist suppression as perpetrated in the days of the "Yusin" dictatorship, keen to "tighten the alliance" with the U.S. only, though it is obliged to resolutely reject the import of American beef fraught with the danger of "mad cow disease" and protect the lives of the people, the statement said, querying for whom the "government" is.
Accusing the police of brutally cracking down upon people and arresting them as running dogs of the Lee "government," the servant of the U.S., instead of ensuring people's just and peaceful candlelight rallies, the statement questioned for whom the police is.
The statement also lashed out at the conservative media which, in league with the gang of traitors, are releasing sheer misinformation in which they paint the participants of the candlelight rallies as "seditious forces" and accuse them of "staging radical demonstrations."
Chosun Ilbo, Choongang Ilbo and Dong-A Ilbo are only speaking for and propagandizing the sophism of Lee Myung Bak obedient to the U.S., far from paying heed to the voices of the people, the statement noted, adding: Herein lies their treacherous nature.

Pyongyang, July 5 (KCNA) -- General Secretary Kim Jong Il's famous work "The Juche Philosophy Is an Original Revolutionary Philosophy" was brought out in booklet by the Vladivostok Granit Publishing House in Russia on June 26.
The work published on July 26, Juche 85 (1996) scientifically analyzes the limitations of the times when the preceding philosophies were enunciated and the originality of the Juche philosophy and clarifies the idea that the above-said philosophy serves as the revolutionary and political philosophy of the Workers' Party of Korea and principled issues arising in studying and explaining the Juche philosophy.

National Day of DPRK to Be Observed in South Africa
Pyongyang, July 6 (KCNA) -- A preparatory committee for celebrating the 60th founding anniversary of the DPRK was formed with due ceremony in Mfumalanga Province, South Africa on June 29.
Present there were figures and members of the Mfumalanga Provincial Committee of the South African Communist Party and the South African Association of Friendship and Solidarity with Korean People.
The inaugural ceremony elected the chairman of the above-said provincial party committee chairman of the preparatory committee.

Korean People's Struggle Supported in Cuba
Pyongyang, July 5 (KCNA) -- The month of international solidarity with the Korean people was opened with due ceremony in Cuba on June 26.

The U.S. troops present in south Korea have committed countless crimes against south Korean people but are let go scot-free. The south Korean people are demanding the withdrawal of the U.S. imperialist aggression forces from south Korea and struggling to achieve the reunification of the country.
The recent mammoth demonstrations now under way in south Korea against the American beef import and other anti-"government" actions are targeted against the Lee Myung Bak's regime as it totally negated the June 15 North-South Joint Declaration and the October 4 declaration and is keen to hamstring any effort to defuse the tension between the north and the south.

President Kim Il Sung to Be Remembered in Cambodia
Pyongyang, July 5 (KCNA) -- A Cambodian preparatory committee for remembering Generalissimo Kim Il Sung was inaugurated on Tuesday.
By the instruction of Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni, Kong Sam Ol, deputy prime minister in charge of Affairs of the Royal Palace, was elected chairman of the preparatory committee.
The preparatory committee set a period from July 1 to 15 to remember Kim Il Sung and decided to organize colorful functions such as remembrance meeting, seminar on his exploits, film show and photo exhibition and widely introduce the greatness and undying exploits of Kim Il Sung through media.
Korean People's Socialist Cause Praised by Vietnamese
Pyongyang, July 5 (KCNA) -- I was deeply moved to see the Korean people dynamically pushing forward the building of a great prosperous powerful nation full of conviction and optimism under the Songun leadership of General Secretary Kim Jong Il, said Ksor Phuoc, chairman of the National Council of the National Assembly of Vietnam, who visited the DPRK.
Noting that the Korean people have registered great achievements in socialist construction in the revolutionary spirit of self-reliance despite the imperialists' moves to stifle the DPRK, he said:
They are advancing along the road of socialism chosen by themselves while firmly adhering to independence under the uplifted banner of the three revolutions, ideological, technical and cultural.

President Kim Il Sung Remembered Abroad
Pyongyang, July 6 (KCNA) -- Seminars on the exploits performed by President Kim Il Sung were held in Egypt and Mexico on June 28 and 29 on the occasion of the 14th anniversary of his demise.
Yehia Zakaria Khairullah, chairman of the Egyptian Committee for the Study of the Juche Idea, said that July 8 this year would mark the 14th anniversary of demise of the President, the great leader of the Korean people, adding:
The President embarked upon the road of revolution in his teens and founded the Juche idea, the Songun idea.
The President was an invincible iron-willed commander who waged the 15 year-long anti-Japanese armed struggle, defeating the Japanese imperialists and liberating Korea, and led to victory the Korean war forced by the U. S. imperialists upon to the DPRK.
He was an outstanding leader who built a prosperous socialist power on the land of Korea and worked heart and soul for the reunification of the country and a great leader who steered the revolution and construction to victory in reliance upon the people, believing in them all his life.
His life was totally dedicated to the country and its people.
The revolutionary cause of Juche pioneered by the President is now being carried to completion by HE Kim Jong Il.
Juan Campos Vega, chairman of the Mexican Institute for the Study of the Juche Idea, highly praised the revolutionary life and immortal exploits of the President and expressed belief that the behests of the President are sure to become a reality under the Songun revolutionary leadership of Kim Jong Il.

Entidades surcoreanas denuncian al "poder" de Lee Myung Bak
Pyongyang, 5 de julio (ATCC) -- La direccion surena de la Alianza Pannacional por la Reunificacion de la Patria (APRP), en su declaracion fechada 30, enumero las atrocidades de la policia titere surcoreana como la represion salvaje a los participantes en la lucha con velas encendidas y el asalto a las oficinas del Consejo del Pueblo de Medidas contra la Importacion Total de la Carne de Res Norteamericana y la Solidaridad por el Progreso del Sur de Corea donde arresto a los miembros de estas entidades e incauto los documentos.
La nota anade que el procurador general amenazo con "perseguir, encarcelar e investigar hasta el final al promotor de las manifestaciones ilegales y violentas y a las fuerzas que estan detras de ellas".
Nunca toleraremos la represion violenta, la invencion del rumor de las "fuerzas traseras" y otras acciones del "poder" dictatorial de Lee Myung Bak que hostilizan la lucha antiyanqui y desatan el pavor, senala.
Al final, subraya que cuanto mas abiertas se tornen las maniobras represivas, tanto mas se consolidaran las fuerzas unidas de la nacion coreana para denunciar al "poder" barbaro y servil a EE.UU.
El mismo dia, la "Accion Media", integrada por 46 entidades civiles y de prensa, sostuvo una entrevista de prensa ante la sede de la Fiscalia General en Seul y rechazo la represion de la fiscalia contra la prensa y las entidades civiles y sociales.

Cestos de flores ante estatua de bronce de Kim Il Sung
Pyongyang, 5 de julio (ATCC) -- Con motivo del XIV aniversario del fallecimiento del Presidente Kim Il Sung, la familia de Zhang Weihua, martir revolucionario antijapones y el Comite Suiza-Corea, hicieron llegar el dia 5 sendos cestos de flores ante la estatua de bronce del Presidente en la capitalina colina Mansu.
En las cintas de cestos se leian: "El gran Lider, Presidente Kim Il Sung estara para siempre con nosotros" y "El gran Lider, camarada Kim Il Sung sera inmortal".
