Kim Jong Il Enjoys Performance Given by Russian Dancing Troupe
Pyongyang, July 17 (KCNA) -- General Secretary Kim Jong Il appreciated a performance given by the State Academy Beryozka Dancing Troupe of Russia Named after N.S. Nadezhdina on a visit to the DPRK.
Kim Jong Il was greeted at a theatre by Mira Koltsova, head of the dancing troupe, and Alexander Matsegora, Russian charge d' affaires ad interim here.
Kim Jong Il expressed thanks to the artistes of the dancing troupe for encouraging the Korean people in their drive to greet the 60th anniversary of the founding of the DPRK with shining labor achievements through their enthusiastic performances and had a cordial talk with the Russian guests.
The dancing troupe with a long history and tradition raised the curtain with chorus "Song of General Kim Jong Il." It staged colorful numbers such as female group dance "Beryozka", male group dance "Jokers", mixed group dances "In Memory of the Defenders of the Motherland" and "Vast Plain", comic dance "Old Bachelors", solo dance "Recollection", dance suite "This Happened Long Ago," songs and dances "Beryozka", "The Evening in the Suburbs of Moscow", "Katyusha" and "Flower-Strewn Brink of Marsh" from the revolutionary opera "Tell the Story, Forest".
In their performance the artistes truthfully represented the Russian people's ardent love for the country, optimistic and diligent life and national custom with refined artistry and graceful and enthusiastic rhythms.
The performance closed with chorus of Korean song "The General of Korea".
He congratulated the artistes on their successful performance and extended his greetings to them.
The head of the dancing troupe, reflecting the unanimous reverence of all the artistes for him, expressed warmest thanks to him for watching their performance and showing deep interest in their art creation activities.

Pyongyang, July 17 (KCNA) -- Kim Yong Il, premier of the DPRK Cabinet, sent a congratulatory message to Fouad Sanyora on his reappointment as Prime Minister of Lebanon on Wednesday.
The message wished the Prime Minister success in his work for the stability and prosperity of the country.

Military Attaches Corps Visits Panmunjom
Kaesong July 17 (KCNA) -- The military attaches corps here visited Panmunjom Thursday on the occasion of the 55th anniversary of the victory in the Fatherland Liberation War.

Cuban Embassy Officials Visit Mangyongdae Schoolchildren's Palace
Pyongyang, July 17 (KCNA) -- Enrique Montoto Cruz, Cuban charge d'affaires ad interim, and staff members of the Cuban embassy here visited the Mangyongdae Schoolchildren's Palace on Thursday on the occasion of the month of solidarity with the Cuban people.

Pyongyang, July 17 (KCNA) -- The people of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea are now energetically hastening the building of a great, prosperous and powerful socialist nation with the might of single-minded unity around the Workers' Party of Korea and the leader.
The tradition of this unity was established at the dawn of the Korean revolution.
The young communists of new generation in the early days ushered in the proud origin of single-minded unity, holding President Kim Il Sung in high esteem as the centre of unity and cohesion and the sun of the nation.
They defended this unity and cohesion with their own lives, not flinching even on the gallows, and handed it down to the posterity as a precious asset.

U.S. Policy of Bolstering Armed Forces Denounced
Pyongyang, July 17 (KCNA) -- The U.S. policy of bolstering armed forces is the root cause of arms race and nuclear threat. Rodong Sinmun today says this in a signed article.
Its talk about "potential enemy" and "means to deter attack" is nothing but sophism intended to hasten the modernization of nukes and the development of new type weapons, the article notes.
Citing concrete facts to prove that the U.S. is pushing forward the modernization of nukes behind the curtain of "nuclear disarmament," the article goes on:
The U.S. is steadily developing and manufacturing new type nukes, while warning other countries not to develop and possess nukes. This is a gangster-like behavior.
The U.S. is chiefly to blame for sparking off a new Cold War and arms race.
The U.S. bellicose forces are working in real earnest to build missile shields, regarding a preemptive missile attack as the main thrust of its military strategy in the new century.
The increased spurs put by the U.S. to building missile shields and modernizing nukes and other military equipment would only compel other countries to take corresponding measures against them. Consequently, these moves will escalate the arms race and the danger of nuclear war.
The Korean Peninsula is fraught with the greatest danger of a nuclear war in the world at present. The U.S. warlike forces are stepping up the production of latest type weapons while amassing war forces in the areas around the Korean Peninsula for the purpose of igniting another Korean war, with a hue and cry over the non-existent "military threat" from the DPRK. It is their strategic aim to ignite a nuclear war in Korea and escalate it into the areas around it in a bid to conquer Asia and realize its ambition for world domination. The U.S. has already made public its scenario for a preemptive nuclear attack on the DPRK as a prelude to its nuclear war.
The U.S. bellicose forces are getting frantic with arms race and nuclear arms buildup at a time when the world people are making positive efforts to create a peaceful environment. This is a blatant challenge to the desire of humankind for peace and an act of seriously threatening and disturbing world peace and security.
Their reckless arms buildup and moves for aggression are increasing the danger of war and putting peace, security and stability in the world at great peril.
They would be well advised to drop their foolish ambition to dominate the world with an upper-hand of strength and swim with the trend of the times towards peace and disarmament.
All Koreans Called upon to Remain True to Idea of "By Our Nation Itself"
Pyongyang, July 17 (KCNA) -- The militant slogan "Open up a new era of independent reunification and peace and prosperity by pooling the efforts of our nation!" laid down in the joint editorial for this year has powerfully encouraged all the compatriots in the sacred patriotic struggle for the reunification of the country as it reflects the requirements of the era and the aspiration of the nation. All Koreans in the north and the south and overseas should enshrine the idea of "By our nation itself" as their faith and intensify the movement for national reunification, guided by it.
They should uphold the June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration whose justice and vitality have been proved in practice and thoroughly implement them and thus independently achieve the country's reunification in the spirit of "By our nation itself."

The Lee Myung Bak group is keen to obliterate the idea of "By our nation itself" and stem the trend of the times towards independent reunification and peace and prosperity. Its treacherous and anti-reunification true colors have been fully revealed.

Candlelight Action Staged in Seoul against Japan's Move to Grab Tok Islet
Pyongyang, July 17 (KCNA) -- Citizens from all walks of life in south Korea waged a candlelight action in Seoul on July 14 in protest against Japan's move to grab Tok Islet and the Lee Myung Bak group's sycophancy and treachery.
Citizens held a candlelight rally in front of the Japanese embassy in Seoul condemning Japan for its bid to grab Tok Islet.
Speakers at the rally branded Japan's distortion of history and assertion of its dominion over Tok Islet as an action to revive militarism, vowing to hold higher candlelight in protest against Japan's move to usurp part of the territory of Korea.
Denouncing the security authorities for trying to arrest a citizen involved in the just struggle against the brazen-faced action of the Japanese government after labeling it "illegal," they stated if Lee quelled the voices of the people, he would certainly allow Japan to grab Tok Islet.
They pelted eggs at the Japanese embassy in token of protest.
In another development, at least 400 persons of culture and art and citizens staged a candlelight rally against the import of American beef in Chonggye plaza and conducted information services condemning the group of traitors for their sycophantic act of selling off the sovereignty of the people to the foreign forces.
Upon hearing the news of the police crackdown upon the candlelight action in front of the above-said embassy while the rally was under way, its participants rushed there past the police cordon to join in the candlelight action.
That day rallies took place on Tok Islet and Ullung Island of Ullung County, North Kyongsang Province in protest against the Japanese reactionaries' move to grab the islet.
The Teachers' Union of south Korea released a statement on the same day demanding Japan halt at once its brazen-faced and aggressive bid to grab the islet and the Lee "government" take the earliest possible steps against Japan's above-mentioned bid.
U.S. Deploys Carrier Task Force in S. Korea
Pyongyang, July 17 (KCNA) -- The U.S. imperialist aggression troops are deploying aircraft carrier task force in south Korea, according to a military source.
Super-large nuclear carrier Reagan already entered Pusan Port to be followed by the entry of a guided missile destroyer into Phyongthaek Port on July 17.
The warmongers of the U.S. imperialist aggression forces are also contemplating bringing guided missile destroyers and subs to Jinhae Port and other major ports in south Korea.
What should not be overlooked is the fact that the U.S. imperialists deployed the task force and opened it to media to kick off a racket, timed to coincide with Hwarang war exercises being conducted by the south Korean puppet army, local administrative organs, police and reserve forces on the land under a coordinated operation and naval landing operational exercises now underway almost everyday in the area of Phohang.
This is nothing but a premeditated move to put into practice the scheme to preempt the strike at the DPRK while militarily threatening it behind the scenes of "dialogue and negotiations."

Pyongyang, July 17 (KCNA) -- General Secretary Kim Jong Il's work "Let Us Carry Out the Great Leader Comrade Kim Il Sung's Instructions for National Reunification" was brought out in booklet by the Nakhodka Format Publishing House of Russia on July 8.
The work published on August 4, Juche 86 (1997) deals with the immortal feats performed by President Kim Il Sung in the cause of national reunification and formulates the three principles of national reunification, the 10-point programme for the great unity of the whole nation and the proposal for founding the Democratic Federal Republic of Koryo as the three charters for national reunification. It also indicates the tasks to be fulfilled to accomplish the cause of national reunification on the basis of them and ways to do so.
Kim Il Sung Remembered in Different Countries
Pyongyang, July 17 (KCNA) -- Reading sessions on the reminiscences of President Kim Il Sung "With the Century" and photo exhibitions were held by the Secretariat of the Pan-African Movement and in Uganda, round-table talks in Mexico and Uganda and film shows in Indonesia and Russia on July 7 and 8 on the occasion of the 14th anniversary of his demise.
Displayed in the venues of the photo exhibitions were photos showing the revolutionary careers and exploits of Kim Il Sung and General Secretary Kim Jong Il.
The director for Political Affairs and International Relations of the Pan-African Movement and the chief of the Group for the Study of the Juche Idea of Comrade Kim Il Sung of Old Kampala Higher Middle School said: The President was born in a revolutionary family. He was a peerlessly great man who devoted all his life to accomplishing the just cause of the Korean people and world revolutionary people since he embarked on the road of struggle in his teens.
The coordinator of the National Coordinating Committee of the Workers' Party of Mexico highly praised the President for dedicating his all to the victory of the Korean revolution and the world revolution, the human cause of independence and the development of the world socialist movement, adding that the exploits performed by the President would shine forever.

Kim Jong Il has successfully carried forward the revolutionary idea and cause of the President and is leading it to completion. Anniversary of Kim Il Sung's Demise Commemorated
Pyongyang, July 17 (KCNA) -- The Group of Youth for the Study of Kim Jong Il Juche Idea in Vienna, Austria, issued its bulletin on July 8 to commemorate the 14th anniversary of demise of President Kim Il Sung.
It carried an article titled "Revolutionary Career of President Kim Il Sung" with a portrait of the smiling President.
In the article the bulletin noted that the President founded the Anti-Japanese People's Guerrilla Army and waged the arduous 15-year-long anti-Japanese armed struggle to realize the historic cause of national liberation.
After the liberation of Korea he successfully realized the cause of building the party, the army and the country, led the Fatherland Liberation War and the postwar rehabilitation and construction to victory and built a powerful socialist country, independent in politics, self-supporting in the economy and self-reliant in national defence, it added.
It stressed that the President has been praised as the prominent statesman and the great leader by not only the Korean people but also the world people.
Struggle of S. Korean People Supported
Pyongyang, July 17 (KCNA) -- Koreans in the United States held a candlelight meeting in Los Angeles on July 11 in support of the struggle of the south Korean people opposing the import of American beef.
Speakers at the meeting charged that though apprehension about "the mad cow disease" is growing in the U.S. where cattle aging less than 20 months only is allowed to be used for food, the Lee Myung Bak "government" has decided to import the beef of cattle aging even more than 30 months. This is behavior of disregarding the people's health at all, they added.
Dismissing Lee's attempt to save the situation by means of replacing some ministers as a deceptive trick, they held that all the people should pool their efforts to struggle against the south Korean authorities' moves.
They urged the south Korean authorities to stop crackdown on the members of the People's Measure Council against the Total Opening of south Korean Markets to American Beef and come out to the total renegotiations on the beef import.
Meanwhile, the participants in the meeting conducted information activities, distributing the handbills referring to the danger of the "mad cow disease."
Struggle against Lee Myung Bak's Anti-Reunification Moves Urged
Pyongyang, July 17 (KCNA) -- The Federation of Koreans in Australia issued an appeal on July 10 urging the vigorous struggle against the anti-reunification moves of the south Korean ruling forces.
The appeal said that they can no longer tolerate the anti-DPRK moves of traitor Lee Myung Bak seeking to annul the June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration, its action program.
