National Meeting Held to Mark 55th Anniversary of Victory in War
Pyongyang, July 26 (KCNA) -- A national meeting was held at the April 25 House of Culture on Saturday to celebrate the 55th anniversary of the victory in the great Fatherland Liberation War.
Present at the meeting were senior officials of the party, the army and the state, the chairman of a friendly party, officials of the party, armed forces and power bodies, public organizations, ministries and national institutions, servicepersons of the Korean People's Army, officials in the fields of science, education, culture and arts, public health and media, persons of distinguished services in the war, servicemen's families, those who distinguished themselves in assisting the army, working people in Pyongyang, overseas compatriots and the chief of the Pyongyang Mission of the Anti-Imperialist National Democratic Front.
Present there on invitation were diplomatic envoys of various countries, representatives of international organizations and members of the military attaches corps here.
A report was delivered by Vice Marshal of the KPA Kim Il Chol, member of the DPRK National Defence Commission and minister of the People's Armed Forces.
July 27, Juche 42 (1953) is shining as the day of the second liberation of the country in the annals of the sacred struggle of the Korean people for sovereignty, independence and socialism as they defeated the U.S. imperialist aggressors and defended the sovereignty of the country and the nation, the reporter said, and went on:
The army and people of the DPRK inflicted a shameful defeat upon the imperialist aggressor forces including the U.S. imperialists in the Fatherland Liberation War. This was a shining victory of the revolutionary faith, prodigious grit, the Juche-oriented military idea and outstanding commanding art of President Kim Il Sung.
Kim Il Sung developed and enriched the unique military theories and war methods which he put forward during the anti-Japanese armed struggle, as required by the modern warfare and in conformity with the specific conditions of the war. He thus defeated the enemies' numerical and technical superiority with the strategic and tactical superiority based on the political and ideological advantages, leading the hard-fought war to victory.
During the war the KPA firmly held the initiative in it, inflicting an irretrievable politico-military defeat upon the aggressors and winning signal successes in every battle that startled the world people. This was a clear proof of the Juche-oriented military idea and matchless wisdom, the might and invincibility of the outstanding commanding art of Kim Il Sung who frustrated the "weapon all-mighty theory" of the imperialists and set a genuine example in the anti-imperialist revolutionary war by skillfully applying the original military theories in every period of the war and at its each phase.
During the last Fatherland Liberation War, many peace-loving countries and progressive peoples of the world actively supported the army and people of the DPRK in their just war both materially and morally. The Chinese people sent volunteers to help them with blood. The Korean people always remember this.
General Secretary Kim Jong Il has firmly preserved and successfully carried forward the undying exploits Kim Il Sung performed by winning the victory in the war. Kim Jong Il has pursued the Songun policy in all fields by most correctly reflecting the requirements of the times and the revolutionary development in the 1990s of the last century when the DPRK was undergoing manifold rigorous trials. This marked an event to be specially recorded in the history of the development of the Korean revolution and the anti-imperialist, anti-U.S. struggle.
Today our revolutionary armed forces are providing a sure military guarantee for the victory in the struggle to build a rich and powerful country and in the anti-imperialist, anti-U.S. standoff, having war deterrent powerful enough to deter any aggressor forces from daring attack them.
The reporter called on all party members, the servicepersons of the KPA and other people to firmly preserve and uphold the exploits Kim Il Sung performed by winning the victory in the war and carry forward the cause of the President and thus glorify the present era of Songun as an era of fresh victory in the anti-imperialist, anti-U.S. standoff and a new era of prosperity of the DPRK.
A grave situation is now prevailing in Korea due to the moves of the U.S. imperialists and their followers to start a new war, the reporter noted, and went on to say:
If the U.S. conservative hardliners and south Korean warlike elements ignite a new war of aggression seeking confrontation in spite of our repeated warnings, the army and people of the DPRK will mobilize to the maximum the military potential built up generation after generation to deal at the aggressors blows a thousand times heavier than those done to them during the last Korean war and surely achieve the historic cause of national reunification and conclude the confrontation with the U.S. with a final victory of Songun Korea.
The reporter also demanded the Japanese reactionaries properly understand the will of the DPRK and behave themselves, pondering over the disastrous consequences to be entailed by their hostile policy towards the DPRK.
He declared that no force on earth can block the revolutionary advance of the KPA and people under the Songun leadership of Kim Jong Il and their just cause is sure to triumph.
55th Anniversary of Victory in War Editorially Observed
Pyongyang, July 27 (KCNA) -- The historic victory won in the Fatherland Liberation War was the brilliant fruition of the unique Songun idea and the Songun revolutionary leadership of President Kim Il Sung. Leading papers today say this in editorials dedicated to the 55th anniversary of the victory in the great Fatherland Liberation War.
The above-said victory was the victory of the President's iron will and matchless pluck, distinguished military wisdom and strategy and tactics and extraordinary military war methods and it was, at the same time, the victory won by the army and people who united as firm as a rock around the Party and leader and displayed their mental power in the life-and-death battles, the editorial of Rodong Sinmun notes, and goes on:

The history of Kim Jong Il's revolutionary leadership is a glorious history of the Songun revolutionary leadership in which he has fully embodied the President's idea and line of attaching importance to the army and military affairs in the revolution and construction.
Thanks to Kim Jong Il's Songun politics and Songun revolutionary leadership the KPA has grown to be a matchless and invincible revolutionary army of Mt. Paektu, the army strong in idea and faith, which has carried forward the ever-victorious traditions and the DPRK has greeted the great era of Songun in which it is dynamically pushing forward the revolution and construction by dint of the great unity between the army and people with the KPA as the core.

Floral Baskets Placed before Statues of Kim Il Sung
Pyongyang, July 27 (KCNA) -- Floral baskets were placed before the statues of President Kim Il Sung on the occasion of the 55th anniversary of the victory in the Fatherland Liberation War.
Servicepersons of the Korean People's Army, people from all walks of life, school youth and children visited his statue on Mansu Hill.
Seen standing before the statue was a floral basket sent by Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the National Defence Commission of the DPRK.
Placed before the statue amid the playing of the floral basket-laying music were floral baskets in the names of the party, armed forces and power bodies, public organizations, ministries and national institutions, units of the KPA, different organs and enterprises, factories, farms, schools and others in Pyongyang.
Visitors paid tribute in humble reverence to the President who defeated the U.S. imperialists and performed political and military miracles to be specially recorded in the history of the struggle for human liberation in the 20th century by wisely leading the army and people of the DPRK with his Juche-oriented military ideas and theories, distinguished commanding art and matchless pluck.
Floral baskets were also laid before his statues at Kim Il Sung Military University, Kim Il Sung University, the Ministry of People's Security and the Pyongyang Schoolchildren's Palace and other places.

Wreaths and Floral Baskets Laid on War Victory Day
Pyongyang, July 27 (KCNA) -- Wreaths were laid before the Revolutionary Martyrs Cemetery on Mt. Taesong and the Patriotic Martyrs Cemetery and floral baskets before the Monument to Victory in the Fatherland Liberation War Sunday on the occasion of the 55th anniversary of victory in the great Fatherland Liberation War.
Seen on the wreath-laying stands of the cemeteries were wreaths sent by Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea, chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission and supreme commander of the Korean People's Army.
Present at the wreath- and floral basket-laying ceremonies were senior party, army and state officials, the chairman of a friendly party, officials of party, armed forces and power organs, social organizations, ministries and national institutions, officers and men of the Korean People's Army and working people in the city.
The national anthem was played and wreaths in the names of the WPK Central Committee and the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly and the Cabinet of the DPRK were placed on the wreath-laying stands at the cemeteries and a floral basket in the joint name of the Central Committee and the Central Military Commission of the WPK before the main theme sculpture "Victory" of the monument.
Then laid there were wreaths and floral baskets in the names of the Ministry of People's Armed Forces, public organizations, ministries, national institutions, units of the KPA, scientific, educational, cultural and art, public health and media institutions, and party and power organs, factories, enterprises, farms and schools in Pyongyang.
The participants paid silent tribute to the martyrs who devoted their all to the liberation of the country, freedom and happiness of people and to national reunification and the accomplishment of the revolutionary cause of Juche, true to the Songun leadership of President Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il.
They paid high tribute to the servicepersons of the heroic KPA who resolutely beat back the U.S. imperialists' armed invasion and reliably defended the sovereignty of the country and the gains of revolution by displaying matchless bravery and popular heroism during the Fatherland Liberation War,

Women's Union Members Celebrate War Victory Day
Pyongyang, July 26 (KCNA) -- Women's union members' celebration of the Day of Victory in the Fatherland Liberation War titled "July 27, the Day of Victory, Will Last Forever under the Guidance of the Songun Illustrious Commander of Mt. Paektu" was held at the plaza of the Monument to the Victory in the Fatherland Liberation War on Friday.
Put on the stage were such colorful numbers as narration and chorus "July 27, Day of Our Victory," dialogic poem "Grit of Brilliant Commander of Mt. Paektu", quartet "Long Live Generalissimo Kim Il Sung" and duet and chorus "Song of Blessings", an immortal famous work.
The performers sang high praises of the feats President Kim Il Sung performed by wisely leading the army and people with his rare military wisdom, distinguished commanding art and iron will and courage and winning shining victory in the war.
They also presented a series of wartime songs "At the Spring Site", "Nobody Knows" and "My Dear Has Become Hero" and trio and story-telling "Yebbuni" and other numbers deeply impressing the audience as they truthfully represented the noble spiritual world and optimistic life of the Korean women in the days of the hard-fought war.
Their repertoire included vocal solo "Tell, the Course of Songun" which praises General Secretary Kim Jong Il for wisely leading the struggle for the defence of socialism and the building of a great prosperous powerful nation and a series of songs "The General Employs the Art of Compressing Space" and "Thunder on Jong Il Peak".
Among the audience were Kim Jung Rin, secretary of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea.
DPRK Accedes to Southeast Asia Treaty
Pyongyang, July 26 (KCNA) -- The DPRK acceded to the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia.
A ceremony of signing the treaty took place in Singapore on July 24.
Present there were DPRK Foreign Minister Pak Ui Chun and the foreign ministers of 10 ASEAN member nations who participated in the ministerial meeting of the ASEAN Regional Forum held in Singapore.
Pak signed a document of accession.
DPRK's Will to Contribute to ASEAN Regional Peace and Stability Reiterated
Pyongyang, July 27 (KCNA) -- The DPRK will as ever exert efforts to deter war, defend peace and advance the process for the settlement of the nuclear issue on the Korean Peninsula and in its vicinity and thus positively contribute to ensuring lasting peace and stability in the region.
DPRK Foreign Minister Pak Ui Chun who is heading the DPRK delegation to the ministerial meeting of the 15th ASEAN Regional Forum stressed this at the meeting held in Singapore on July 24.
He said that the clear trend for arms race, intensified military alliances and space militarization caused by the change in the relations of forces in the Asia-Pacific region underlines the need for the forum to fulfill its mission and role for promoting dialogue for political security, cooperation and confidence-building.
The DPRK is ready to render active cooperation to enhance the role of the forum, he said, adding that it acceded to the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia as a token of its support to the ASEAN and its willingness to contribute to the regional peace and prosperity.
Briefing on a series of affirmative developments around the Korean Peninsula, he stressed that this is a product of the joint efforts made by the DPRK and parties concerned to ensure peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula and in its vicinity.
However, amidst the ongoing of dialogue and implementing of agreed points, military actions are being taken nonstop to threaten dialogue partner, getting more serious in their nature, he pointed out, and said:
Now peace on the Korean Peninsula is maintained thanks to the war deterrent of the DPRK, a shining fruition of the Songun politics.
The DPRK has honestly implemented the September 19 joint statement for denuclearizing the Korean Peninsula.
The "action for action" principle advanced by the DPRK to settle the nuclear issue has been fixed as one code of conduct at present with approval of all the parties to the six-way talks.
We hope that such way of confidence-building verified in practice would be referred in a constructive manner in the work of the forum.
Dialogue for political security and confidence-building, desired by the forum, are must way and means needed for peace, security and denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.

Pyongyang, July 26 (KCNA) -- Kim Yong Nam, president of the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly, Saturday sent a message of greetings to Maldivian President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom on the occasion of the independence day of Maldives.

Pyongyang, July 26 (KCNA) -- "Complete Collection of Kim Il Sung's Works" Vol. 74 was brought out by the Workers' Party of Korea Publishing House.
Contained in the book are 47 works such as speeches, concluding addresses and talks made by President Kim Il Sung from August to December, Juche 70 (1981).
It consummates the original ideas, theories and policies set forth by him to effect a great upswing in socialist construction, the reunification of the country and the cause of global independence on the basis of his profound insight into the requirements of the developing revolution.
His works "The Working Class Should Become the Pivotal Force in the Struggle to Model the Whole Society on the Juche Idea", "Our Youth Should Be Dependable Heirs to the Revolutionary Cause of Juche" and others indicate tasks and ways to further intensify the work of working people's organizations as required by the new historical stage where the modeling of the whole society on the Juche idea has become a general task of the Korean revolution.

KCNA Calls for Replacement of Armistice Agreement with Peace Agreement
Pyongyang, July 26 (KCNA) -- 55 years have passed since the Armistice Agreement was signed in Korea.
The Korean nation has been exposed to the constant danger of war due to the state of ceasefire that has lasted for more than half a century.
The situation on the Korean Peninsula remains extremely tense but there is no legal and institutional mechanism to guarantee peace and security in the region.
This is attributable to the fact that the AA which calls for providing a legal guarantee for the security of the peninsula had already lost its legal binding force due to the U.S. violations of it.
The DPRK and the U.S. concluded the AA which stipulated the legal commitments to stop all hostile actions and contribute to the peaceful settlement of the Korean issue in the 1950s of the last century.
The U.S. brazen-faced perfidy resulted in scrapping the AA and keeping the escalated tension and the phase of war in the peninsula for several decades.
The U.S. has systemically violated the AA by wantonly breaching its provisions and rendering its mechanisms completely defunct.
After unilaterally declaring the abrogation of the paragraph 13 D of the AA in the 1950s, the U.S. introduced modern weaponry and equipment and more than 1,000 nuclear weapons of various types into south Korea, thus turning it into a huge arsenal and the biggest nuclear outpost in the Far East and converting it into a springboard from which to start military provocations against the DPRK.
The U.S. is still showing the sign of armed forces' cutbacks in other parts of the world but it is further reinforcing its armed forces in the Asian-Pacific surrounding the Korean Peninsula.
This is evidenced by the fact that the U.S. modern armed forces including nuclear-powered carriers are being amassed in the areas around the peninsula and the U.S.-led war exercises targeted against the DPRK are frequently staged.
This is a gross violation of the provisions of the AA which clearly bans the acts of threatening and blackmailing each other by introducing armed forces.
Due to hundreds of thousands of cases of U.S. violations of the AA, the state of ceasefire remains, in actuality, at very great peril.
It is quite impossible to prevent any accidental military conflict and catastrophic war as long as the present ceasefire mechanism is allowed to go on.
In order to put a definite end to the state of ceasefire on the peninsula it is necessary to replace the AA by a peace agreement.
This process is the key to terminating the military confrontation, removing the danger of war and guaranteeing the peace and security in the peninsula and the rest of the Asia -Pacific.
The tension can be defused on the peninsula and the danger of war removed from it only when the U.S. drops its hostile policy towards the DPRK and a peace agreement is concluded between the two sides.
The U.S., being a signatory to the Korean Armistice Agreement, is the real party that can discuss the issue of replacing the AA by a peace agreement.
Nevertheless, the U.S. has rejected or sidestepped the fair and realistic peace proposals advanced by the DPRK.
The AA still remains useless due to the irresponsible attitude on the part of the U.S.
The U.S. would be well advised to face up to the present trend of history and the situation and make a bold decision to replace the AA by a peace agreement as early as possible.
Anniversary of Kim Jong Il's Work Observed
Pyongyang, July 26 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun today dedicates a signed article to the 12th anniversary of the publication of General Secretary Kim Jong Il's work "The Juche Philosophy Is an Original Revolutionary Philosophy."
The work published on July 26, Juche 85 (1996) clarifies that the Juche philosophy is the original philosophy which was evolved and systematized on the basis of its unique principles and a revolutionary and political philosophy of the Workers' Party of Korea which indicates the philosophical basis of the Juche idea and the fundamental principles to govern the revolution.
The work perfectly proves the originality and scientific accuracy of ideas and theories expounded by the Juche philosophy including the essential character of man, the new viewpoint on the world and the law governing the social movement. It also clarifies the principled issues arising in holding fast to the Juche philosophy as a powerful weapon in the revolutionary practice.
The Juche philosophy founded by President Kim Il Sung has displayed its tremendous attraction and vitality generation after generation thanks to the rare wisdom and energetic ideological and theoretical activities of Kim Jong Il, the article notes, and goes on:

Anniversary of July 26 Armed Uprising in Cuba Observed
Pyongyang, July 26 (KCNA) -- Today marks the 55th anniversary of the July 26 armed uprising in Cuba.
Rodong Sinmun today in a signed article dedicated to this day says the Korean people send warm greetings to the friendly Cuban people and express firm belief that they will surely emerge victorious in their struggle for independence against imperialism and for socialism.
Since the victory in the revolution the Cuban people have traversed the road of victory, honorably defending their country, revolution and socialist gains from all moves of the enemies under the unerring leadership of the Communist Party of Cuba headed by Fidel Castro, the article notes, and goes on:
They have firmly defended the sovereignty of the country and socialism and successfully pushed forward the revolution and construction, foiling every frenzied move of the U.S. imperialists against Cuba which has become evermore pronounced.

Pyongyang, July 27 (KCNA) -- The shameful defeat suffered by the U.S. in the last Korean war was an unavoidable debacle in its history. It should face up to the trend of history and drop its anachronistic design to stifle the DPRK by force. Rodong Sinmun Sunday urges this in an article dedicated to the 55th anniversary of the Korean people's victory in the Fatherland Liberation War.

The U.S. imperialists' numerical and technical superiority was shattered to smithereens in the war by the politico-ideological and strategic and tactical advantages of the Korean people.
The Korean war was a barbarous war for aggression and hideous state-sponsored terrorism the U.S. perpetrated for the purpose of demonstrating its might and containing the socialist forces after emerging the boss of imperialists at the end of the Second World War.
The U.S. imperialists hurled into the Korean war armed forces huge enough to fight a world war only to suffer a defeat. The DPRK has boosted its capability for self-defence in every way to cope with the U.S. imperialists' frantic war moves to tide over a serious crisis.

Lee Myung Bak's "Policy toward North" Assailed
Pyongyang, July 27 (KCNA) -- The Lee Myung Bak group of traitors is touting "pragmatism" and the policy of confrontation with the DPRK based on it and its "policy toward the north" constitutes a fundamental factor of bedeviling the north-south relations, says Rodong Sinmun Sunday in a signed article.
The Lee group is bringing the political confrontation between the north and the south to an extreme phase and escalating military confrontation and tension between them through the traitorous and anti-reunification "policy toward the north", the article notes, and goes on:
The Lee Myung Bak "government's" "policy toward the north" throws a stumbling block in the way of achieving the great national unity.
Outsiders hell-bent on aggression are inciting north-south confrontation while seeking the permanent division of the Korean nation. Whoever has the soul of the Korean should not turn away from the great national unity
The Lee group's "policy toward the north" is a treacherous and anti-reunification policy aimed to block national reconciliation and unity, rejecting fellow countrymen and cooperating with outsiders.
The traitorous nature of the Lee group rejecting national unity and cooperation and seeking cooperation with outsiders is brought into bolder relief by the daily escalated moves to knock into shape the "triangular military alliance" among the U.S., Japan and south Korea.
The Lee group's "policy toward the north" is fostering extreme distrust between the north and the south and destroying national unity.
The reality clearly proves that it is impossible to promote the great national unity, much less advancing the cause of national reunification, as long as pro-U.S. stooge and fascist dictator who turned his back on the country and the nation is allowed to stay in power.
Intolerable is the traitorous group's "policy toward the north" as it pushes the inter-Korean relations to catastrophe and blocks the national reconciliation and unity.
The Korean nation will frustrate whatever desperate moves of traitors and hold aloft the June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration whose validity and vitality have been fully proven through practice and thoroughly implement them in order to pave the wide avenue for independent reunification and peace and prosperity, concludes the article.
Collective Bribery of GNP Censured in S. Korea
Pyongyang, July 26 (KCNA) -- The Citizens Federation for Economic Justice, the Citizens' Solidarity for Democratic Society and other civic organizations of south Korea called a press conference outside the building of the "Grand National Party" in Seoul on July 23 to accuse this traitorous political party of the collective wrongdoing, according to south Korea's KBS.
They recalled that one third of the city assemblymen from the GNP were involved in the bribery case which took place during the "election of the speaker of the Seoul city assembly."
Though this was the worst bribery case, the GNP is seeking to hush it up only by means of urging the speaker to break with the party, they charged.
As the police began its investigation into the case, the GNP has attempted to belittle the case by defending those concerned, asserting that "some assemblymen got cash award conventionally offered for encouragement," they pointed out.
They demanded the immediate dismissal of all the Seoul city assemblymen from the GNP involved in the wrongdoing.
Prosecution's Crackdown upon Patriotic Youth Accused
Pyongyang, July 26 (KCNA) -- The South Headquarters of the National Alliance of Youth and Students for the Country's Reunification (Pomchonghakryon) issued a statement on July 22 in denunciation of the puppet prosecution's crackdown upon Chairman Yun Ki Jin.
The prosecution, reduced to a waiting maid for the U.S. and Lee Myung Bak, is making desperate efforts to check Yun's acquittal, the statement noted, and continued:
What is more intolerable is that the prosecution blamed the nine years Yun spent, being on the want list, charging that he did so to conduct "enemy-benefiting activities".
The protection of sovereignty will be unthinkable, there will be no other way for the people but to go to prison and all those desirous of reunification will have to undergo sufferings as long as the prosecution authorities are allowed to ride roughshod backed by those in power.
It stressed that the alliance would expose and frustrate the moves of the prosecution forsaken by the people to intensify the crackdown, and win the acquittal of the chairman without fail.
Japan's Moves to Grab Tok Islet Denounced
Pyongyang, July 26 (KCNA) -- Elders of the Buddhist Jogyejong of south Korea and six other religious orders held a press conference in Seoul on July 22 in denunciation of Japan's moves to grab Tok Islet.
Speakers at the conference referred to the fact that the Japanese imperialists unilaterally fabricated the "official instructions of Shimane Prefecture" in 1905 in a bid to put the islet under their control.
Japan's insistence that Tok Islet belongs to Japan is intended to make the islet an international dispute, it said, urging Japan to immediately retract its claim to the islet and make an apology to the Korean people.
They also urged the south Korean "government" to take a strong measure against Japan's moves to grab the islet.
Lee Myung Bak Group's Rowdyism Assailed
Pyongyang, July 27 (KCNA) -- The South Headquarters of the National Alliance for the Country's Reunification on July 23 issued a statement denouncing the traitor Lee Myung Bak group for appointing an anti-reunification conservative element as "ambassador for human rights".
Recalling that the puppet government appointed Je Song Ho as "human rights ambassador" at "Cabinet meeting" on July 22, the statement said:
Je, who was once representative of the League of the New Right, is the worst traitor to the nation. He worked with bloodshot eyes to incite confrontation with fellow countrymen, unhesitatingly letting loose a string of such vituperation as "unprincipled south-north exchange and assistance toward the north in the way of drain on resources."
The said appointment by the Lee Myung Bak group that has pushed the south-north relations to bankruptcy is a clear proof of the present "government's" policy of inciting confrontation with the fellow countrymen.
The Lee Myung Bak "government" is sure to be sternly punished by all Koreans as it is keen on pursuing hard-line policy toward the north while negating the spirit of "By our nation itself."
General Strike of Press Trade Union Launched in S. Korea
Pyongyang, July 27 (KCNA) -- The Press Trade Union in south Korea held a meeting to vow a general strike in Seoul on July 23 in denunciation of the Lee Myung Bak "government's" scheme to put media under its control.
Speakers at the meeting referred to the fact that the Lee Myung Bak group is seeking to revive dictatorial regime by putting media under its control, adding that such attempt should never be allowed.
They accused the "government" and the "Grand National Party" of the undisguised moves to put media under their control after appointing Choe Si Jung, confidant of traitor Lee Myung Bak, as chairman of the broadcasting and communication committee.
They called upon all trade union members to turn out in the struggle to foil such reckless moves and defend freedom of speech.
A resolution was read out then. It recalled that the union pledged to launch a general strike against the traitor Lee Myung Bak group's scheme to put media under its control.
The resolution denounced the appointment of director general of Yonhap News Agency by the "government" and the prosecution's illegal investigation into the building of MBC and demanded the deposal of Choe.
After the meeting the union launched a general strike.
Meanwhile, citizens from all walks of life, youth and students and lawmakers from the Democratic Labor Party staged demonstration outside the KBS building in protest against the Lee Myung Bak group's moves to put media under its control on the same day.
The participants evinced their will to fight to the end to defend public radio broadcasting and urged the "government" to stop forcing the director general of KBS to resign and halt the scheme to put media under its control.
Lee Myung Bak Group's Suppression Protested in S. Korea
Pyongyang, July 27 (KCNA) -- A struggle against the Lee Myung Bak group's fascist crackdown was staged in south Korea on July 24 under the sponsorship of the Confederation of Trade Unions.
Prior to the struggle, the confederation called an emergency press conference outside its building in Yongdungpho District, Seoul.
Speeches were made there by Ri Sok Haeng, chairman of the confederation, Han Sang Ryol, permanent co-representative of the Solidarity for Progress of south Korea, Chon Yong Se, representative of the Democratic Labor Party, and others.
They accused the security authorities of issuing warrants of arrest for the chairman, the chief vice-chairman and the secretary general of the confederation on the charge of spearheading the general strike called that day.
They held that the reckless crackdown upon the confederation is as foolish an act as precipitating its own doom as it is a fascist suppression betraying the sign of the Lee Myung Bak dictatorial regime's downfall.
A press release read out at the conference branded the issue of the warrants of arrest for the leading members of the confederation as an unreasonable suppression of the exercise of its legitimate right to protect the workers' health and the people's lives and as a declaration of war against all people.
Candlelight raised high by the people will surely overthrow the undemocratic dictatorial regime, it stated.
At the end of the press conference, members of the confederation, members of civic and public organizations, citizens and lawmakers from the DLP held the 78th candlelight rally.
The ralliers accused the Lee Myung Bak fascist dictatorial regime of intensifying the violent suppression of candlelight actions and the moves to put media under its control while making the confederation, a legitimate organization of workers, a target of such suppression, terming the just general strike "illegal". They condemned the regime's moves as a futile and reckless deed of those thrown into a tight corner.
Prior to the rally, workers, youth and students and citizens held a "Seoul regional meeting for vowing all-out struggle against import of mad cow, introduction of mad education and mad privatization" in front of the Seoul railway station.
Seminar on Normalization of Relations Held
Pyongyang, July 27 (KCNA) -- A seminar on normalizing the relations between the DPRK and the U.S. and between the DPRK and Japan was held in Tokyo on July 20.
Present there were figures of organizations for the study of the Juche idea in different parts of Japan, the Japan-Korea Cultural Interchange Association and the International Institute of the Juche Idea, figures in academic circles of Japan, Mongolia, the U.S. and the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon). An official of the Central Standing Committee of Chongryon was present there on invitation.
Takaoka Kamakura, honorary professor at Saitama University of Japan, made a speech on the subject of "The establishment of relations between the U.S. and the DPRK and Japan and the DPRK is required by the peoples of the two countries and the times."
He noted that for the U.S. and Japan to trust the DPRK and for Japan to settle its past are important for improving the relations between the U.S. and the DPRK and between Japan and the DPRK.
He asserted that the U.S., the party responsible for the division of Korea, should replace the armistice agreement by a peace agreement, halt its hostile moves against the DPRK and Japan should solve the pending issues including the reparation for the crimes committed by it against the Korean people in the past and the lifting of the unreasonable sanctions against the DPRK.
He urged the U.S. and Japan to positively opt to normalize the relations with the DPRK.
Then the floor was taken by figures of Joson University under Chongryon, Literary College of Mongolia and Lincoln University of the U.S. on the subjects of "Foreign policy of the DPRK based on the Juche idea", "Activities to boost the friendship between Mongolia and the DPRK," etc.

Pyongyang, 26 de julio (ATCC) -- Tuvo lugar este sabado en la Casa Cultural 25 de Abril el acto central por el 55o aniversario del triunfo en la gran Guerra de Liberacion de la Patria.
En el acto participaron los cuadros del partido, el ejercito y el Estado, el presidente de partido amigo, los funcionarios de las instituciones del partido, las fuerzas armadas y el Poder, organizaciones sociales, ministerios y organos centrales, oficiales y soldados del Ejercito Popular de Corea, funcionarios de los dominios de la ciencia, educacion, cultura y arte, salud publica, prensa e informacion, benemeritos del periodo de guerra, familiares de los militares del EPC, benemeritos ejemplares en la asistencia al ejercito, trabajadores capitalinos, coreanos en ultramar y el representante de la Sucursal del Frente Democratico Nacional Antiimperialista en Pyongyang.
Entre los invitados se distinguian los representantes diplomaticos de varios paises, los delegados de organizaciones internacionales y los miembros del Cuerpo de Agregados Militares, acreditados en Corea.

En los anales de la sagrada lucha del pueblo coreano por la soberania, la independencia y el socialismo, el 27 de julio del 42 (1953) de la Era Juche esta registrado como fecha de la segunda liberacion en que fue defendida la soberania de la patria y la nacion venciendo a los agresores norteamericanos, comenzo el informante y continuo:
En la Guerra de Liberacion de la Patria el ejercito y el pueblo de Corea hicieron sufrir una vergonzosa derrota a los yanquis y otras fuerzas agresoras imperialistas. Esto devino la orgullosa victoria de la conviccion revolucionaria, el coraje incomparable, la autoctona idea militar y el destacado arte de mando del Presidente Kim Il Sung.
Al desarrollar y enriquecer las originales teorias militares y metodos de combate creados en el periodo de la Lucha Armada Antijaponesa conforme a la demanda de las batallas modernas y las condiciones concretas de la guerra, el Presidente condujo a la victoria la severa Guerra de Liberacion de la Patria superando la supremacia numerica y tecnica de los enemigos con la ventaja estrategica y tactica basada en la superioridad politico-ideologica.
Durante esa contienda belica, el EPC infligio irremediable derrota politico-militar a los agresores tomando con firmeza el control de la guerra y logro brillantes meritos en todos los combates que sorprendieron a todo el mundo.
Esto deviene una prueba contundente del poderio y el caracter invencible de la autoctona idea militar, la extraordinaria estrategia y el destacado arte de mando del Presidente quien quebro la "teoria sobre la omnipotencia de las armas" de los imperialistas y creo el verdadero ejemplo de la guerra revolucionaria antiimperialista aplicando diestramente los originales principios militares en cada periodo y cada etapa de la guerra.
Durante la pasada Guerra de Liberacion de la Patria numerosos paises y los pueblos progresistas del mundo enviaron activamente su apoyo material y espiritual al ejercito y el pueblo de Corea, enfrascados en la justa guerra, y el pueblo chino despacho a la guerra coreana el ejercito de voluntarios para ayudar con la sangre al pueblo coreano.
No lo olvidamos siempre.
El Dirigente Kim Jong Il, quien defiende resueltamente y desarrolla con brillantez las inmortales hazanas de victoria del Presidente Kim Il Sung realizadas en la guerra materializo globalmente la politica de Songun (priorizacion militar) reflejando mas correctamente la demanda de la epoca y el desarrollo de la revolucion en la decada de 1990 cuando se acarreaban a nuestra patria multiples pruebas. Esto fue un evento especial que se registrara en el desarrollo de la revolucion coreana y en la historia de lucha antiimperialista y antiyanqui.
Hoy nuestras fuerzas armadas revolucionarias, dispuestas de la poderosa capacidad de disuasion de guerra a que ninguna fuerza invasora se atreve a atentar, garantizan en lo militar la construccion de la rica patria y el triunfo en la confrontacion antiimperialista y antiyanqui
Todos los militantes del partido, los oficiales y soldados del EPC y otros habitantes deben defender con firmeza las hazanas de victoria del Presidente Kim Il Sung realizadas en la guerra, continuar la causa de el y hacer de la epoca del Songun de hoy la de nueva victoria en la confrontacion antiimperialista y antiyanqui, y la nueva de prosperidad de la Republica.
Ahora en nuestro pais se crea la grave situacion debido a las maniobras de provocacion de una nueva guerra de los imperialistas yanquis y las fuerzas satelites.
Si las fuerzas ultraconservadoras de EE.UU. y los belicistas surcoreanos se entregan a la confrontacion y desatan una nueva guerra de agresion pese a las reiteradas advertencias de la RPDC, el ejercito y el pueblo de Corea pondran en accion toda la potencialidad militar consolidada a lo largo de anos y siglos y asestaran a los invasores demoledores golpes incomparables con la pasada guerra coreana, lograran sin falta la historica causa de reunificacion de la patria y haran balance general con la victoria final de Corea del Songun en la batalla de confrontacion antiyanqui.
Tambien los reaccionarios japoneses deben justipreciar la voluntad de la RPDC, reflexionar de la catastrofica consecuencia que emane de su politica de hostilidad a Corea y actuar con prudencia.
En el mundo no hay tal fuerza capaz de obstaculizar el avance revolucionario del ejercito y el pueblo de Corea que disfrutan de la direccion del Songun del Dirigente Kim Jong Il y es definitiva la victoria de nuestra justa causa.
ATCC demanda cambio del Acuerdo de Armisticio por el de paz
Pyongyang, 26 de julio (ATCC) -- Debido al sistema de armisticio que se establecio hace 55 anos en la Peninsula Coreana, la nacion coreana vive bajo la constante amenaza de guerra.
A pesar de que la actual situacion de la Peninsula Coreana es extremadamente aguda, no hay ningun aparato juridico e institucional para garantizar la paz y la estabilidad de esta area.
Es que Estados Unidos desvirtuo las restricciones legales del Acuerdo de Armisticio que garantizaban en sentido juridico la seguridad de la Peninsula Coreana.
En la decada de 1950, la Republica Popular Democratica de Corea y EE.UU. firmaron el referido acuerdo que establecio los compromisos legales de parar todos los actos hostiles y contribuir a la solucion pacifica del problema coreano.
Pero, debido a los descarados actos traidores del imperio, este acuerdo se convirtio en papel mojado y se crearon en la Peninsula Coreana la tension cada vez mas agravada y la coyuntura de guerra.
EE.UU. violo sistematicamente el acuerdo infringiendo flagrantemente su contenido y paralizando completamente las funciones de los aparatos de armisticio.
En la decada de 1950, declaro la anulacion unilateral de la clausula D del articulo 13 del Acuerdo de Armisticio e introdujo los armamentos modernos y mas de mil artefactos nucleares de todo tipo en el suelo surcoreano convirtiendolo en el gran arsenal, la base avanzada nuclear de mayor tamano en el Extremo Oriente y la cabeza de puente para la provocacion militar contra la RPDC.
Ahora, se estan dando los movimientos de EE.UU. para reducir sus fuerzas armadas en otros lugares del mundo, pero sucede lo contrario en la region de Asia y el Pacifico que abarca la Peninsula Coreana.
En las periferias de esta peninsula se emplazan concentradamente el portaaviones de propulsion nuclear y otras fuerzas armadas modernas de EE.UU. y frecuentan los ejercicios belicos liderados por este contra la RPDC.
Esto deviene una flagrante violacion a los articulos del Acuerdo de Armisticio que estipulo claramente no amenazar ni chantajear reciprocamente introduciendo las fuerzas armadas.
Debido a cientos de miles de casos similares, el armisticio se mantiene a duras penas en la Peninsula Coreana.
Bajo el actual sistema de armisticio, no se puede prevenir el estallido de conflicto armado o guerra catastrofica por alguna contingencia.
Para poner fin al estado de armisticio, es preciso cambiar el Acuerdo de Armisticio por el de la paz.
Esto deviene la clave para eliminar el enfrentamiento militar y el peligro de la guerra y asegurar la paz y la seguridad en la Peninsula Coreana y el resto de la region de Asia y el Pacifico.
El problema de relajar la tension y eliminar el peligro de guerra en esta peninsula puede ser resuelto solo cuando EE.UU. abandone su politica hostil a la RPDC y concierte con esta el tratado de paz.
Como que EE.UU. es una parte signataria del Acuerdo de Armisticio de Corea, deviene realmente el sujeto que debe debatir la sustitucion del acuerdo en cuestion.
Sin embargo, el ha venido negando o haciendo vista gorda de todas las justas y realistas propuestas de la RPDC para la paz.
Por tal actitud irresponsable, el Acuerdo de Armisticio se queda inutilmente hasta la fecha.
EE.UU. debe ver correctamente la corriente de la historia y la tendencia del desarrollo de la situacion y tomar pronto la valiente decision de sustituir el Acuerdo de Armisticio con el de la paz.
Direccion surena de APRP denuncia represion de la fiscalia
Pyongyang, 26 de julio (ATCC) -- La direccion surena de la Alianza Pannacional por la Reunificacion de la Patria (APRP) publico el dia 22 una declaracion denunciando la represion de la fiscalia titere surcoreana contra su presidente Yun Ki Jin.
El documento censura que la fiscalia convertida en la sirvienta de EE.UU. y Lee Myung Bak maniobra siniestramente para impedir la absolucion de Yun Ki Jin.
Lo que causa mas indignacion es que las autoridades de la fiscalia negaron los 9 anos, que llevo Yun siendo perseguido, diciendo absurdamente que este joven patriotico pro-reunificacion lo hizo para las "actividades proenemigas", condena.
Si se dejan intactas a las autoridades de la fiscalia que actuan con arrogancia halagando al poder, el pueblo no podra defender la soberania ni tendra otro destino que la carcel y todos los que desean la reunificacion viviran en medio de sufrimientos, apunta.
Lograremos sin falta la absolucion de Yun revelando y frustrando las maniobras represivas de la fiscalia, abandonada por el pueblo, concluye la nota.
RPDC ingresa en Tratado de Amistad y Cooperacion de Sudeste Asiatico
Pyongyang, 26 de julio (ATCC) -- La Republica Popular Democratica de Corea ingreso en el Tratado de Amistad y Cooperacion del Sudeste Asiatico en una ceremonia realizada el dia 24 en Singapur.
En la ocasion estuvieron presentes el canciller coreano Pak Ui Chun y sus homologos de los 10 paises miembros de ASEAN, que participaron en la reunion ministerial del Foro Regional de ASEAN sesionada en Singapur.
Pak Ui Chun firmo el documento de ingreso.
