Performance "Arirang" Given to Celebrate 60th Birthday of DPRK
Pyongyang, September 10 (KCNA) -- The Grand Gymnastic and Artistic Performance "Arirang", a Kim Il Sung Prize winner, was given at the May Day Stadium today in celebration of the 60th anniversary of the DPRK.

Kim Yong Nam Meets Foreigners
Pyongyang, September 10 (KCNA) -- Kim Yong Nam, president of the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly, met and had a friendly talk with Giancarlo Elia Valori, chairman of the Development Bank of the Mediterranean and chairman of the Italian General Investment Group who is staying in the DPRK to celebrate the 60th birthday of the DPRK, at the Mansudae Assembly Hall today.

Great King of Cambodia Celebrates DPRK Birthday

Jia Qinglin said that today the Korean people are striving to fling open the door of a great prosperous powerful nation under the leadership of the Workers' Party of Korea headed by General Secretary Kim Jong Il. Actions against American Beef Imports Staged in S. Korea
Pyongyang, September 10 (KCNA) -- Actions against the import of American beef were waged in Seoul on September 6, according to CBS of south Korea.
The People's Measure Council against the Total Opening of south Korean Market to American Beef held a candlelight rally in Maroni Park in university street.
The participants in the rally charged that the Lee Myung Bak group is intensifying the suppression of the participants in the candlelight actions instead of meeting the demand of the people opposed to the American beef imports.
They declared that the people from all walks of life would stage a more vigorous struggle against the American beef imports, steadily holding the candlelight.
Christian organizations including the Korean Catholic Association for Justice held the 12th mass on situation in protest against the import of American beef and staged a street march to Seoul Railway Station.
The All-People Headquarters for Checking the Mad Cow Disease and other organizations conducted information activities accusing traitor Lee Myung Bak in Myongdong area.
Struggle against Lee Myung Bak Regime Urged in S. Korea
Pyongyang, September 10 (KCNA) -- The Youth and Students Solidarity for Implementing the June 15 Joint Declaration in south Korea released an appeal titled "Let us all turn out in the struggle for resignation of the Lee Myung Bak regime" on Sept. 6.
The appeal charged that the Lee Myung Bak regime is enforcing treacherous and unpopular policies while oppressing the just demand of the people with violence.
The sycophantic and traitorous clan headed by Lee Myung Bak sold out the national interests to the outside forces while aggravating confrontation and tension between the south and the north and getting hell-bent on the suppression of the progressive forces, it pointed out, and said:
If this grave situation goes on, the south Korean society will go back to the past period of dictatorship, the era of darkness.
The immediate goal of struggle is to drive the sycophantic and traitorous, undemocratic and unpopular Lee Myung Bak "government" into destruction. We should not stop the struggle against the present "government" but ceaselessly isolate and oppress it to accelerate its destruction.

Kim Il Sung's Work Published in Italy
Pyongyang, September 10 (KCNA) -- President Kim Il Sung's famous work "Let Us Shatter Imperialist Moves towards Aggression and War and Safeguard Peace and Independence" was brought out in booklet by the Struggle for the Peace and Socialism of Italy on September 3.
The work, published on July 3, Juche 72 (1983), clarifies the idea that the most urgent and grave task facing the world progressive people is to struggle for peace and independence against the U.S. and other imperialists' moves for aggression and war.
DPRK Birthday Marked in Different Countries
Pyongyang, September 10 (KCNA) -- Meetings were held in Hungary, Switzerland and Bangladesh on August 30 and September 1 to celebrate the 60th birthday of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.
Displayed in the venues of the meetings were photos showing the immortal exploits of President Kim Il Sung and General Secretary Kim Jong Il.

Martin Lotscher, chairman of the Switzerland-Korea Committee, said that on September 9, 1948, Kim Il Sung founded the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, a sovereign and independent state in which the popular masses became masters of everything for the first time in the Korean history spanning 5,000 years, and enforced such popular policies as free medical care and free educational systems. He also beat the U.S. imperialists in the Fatherland Liberation War and reliably defended the freedom and sovereignty of the country by wisely leading the Korean army and people, the chairman stressed.
