Pyongyang, October 1 (KCNA) -- Leading papers today in articles dedicated to the "International Day of Old Persons" call upon each country to take positive measures to solve the issue of aging population and protect the aged, matters of worldwide concern. Rodong Sinmun says that the declining birthrate is a main cause of aging population, underlining the need for every country to pursue a scientific policy on population in keeping with its population situation and thus adjust the speed of the aging of population. The DPRK has taken necessary measures purposefully as regards the process of aging population by properly comprehending the impact it has on the socio-economic life and correctly reflecting it in the country's population policy, the daily notes, and goes on: The Central Committee of the Korean Federation for Care of the Aged is making positive efforts to maintain close relations and cooperation with various international organizations over the issue of aging population and the protection of the aged. Minju Joson says that the issues of settling the problem of aging population and protecting the aged are addressed under the deep care of the state and society in the popular masses-centered Korean-style socialist society where man is considered as the most valuable being. |
