Displayed in the venue were at least 1,500 items of invention and new technology as well as products manufactured on the basis of them, models, diagrams and multimedia highly appreciated at the prize invention and innovation contests held by different social organizations, ministries, national institutions and provinces.

During the period of the exhibition there will take place the dissemination of science and technology involving different forms and methods including public presentation and technological exchange and discussions on the issues of widely introducing and generalizing the scientific and technological achievements in production and construction.

Present at the ceremony were Vice-Premier of the Cabinet Ro Tu Chol, Department Director of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea Ri Kwang Ho, Minister of Education Kim Yong Jin, officials concerned, scientists, technologists and working people.

President of the State Academy of Sciences Pyon Yong Rip in an opening address said that under the wise leadership of Kim Jong Il the whole society is now attaching importance to science and technology and a vigorous mass technical innovation movement is under way in the DPRK to provide a scientific and technological guarantee for building a rich and powerful nation.

He stressed that achievements made in inventions in recent years clearly prove that nothing is impossible when the people fully display the revolutionary spirit of self-reliance depending on science and technology.
