The Koreans keenly realized through their distress-torn history how miserable the destiny of a nation without sovereignty was.

The reality of the movement for national reunification requires all Koreans to hold higher the banner of national independence.

The U.S. is creating atmosphere obstructive to the implementation of the historic June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration by escalating confrontation and tension on the Korean Peninsula, displeased with the implementation of those north-south declarations.

At the instigation of the U.S. the Lee Myung Bak group in south Korea are standing against the implementation of the north-south declarations supported by all Koreans while slandering them. They are also indiscriminately suppressing pro-reunification patriotic organizations and people on charges of violation of the "National Security Law", thus checking their free movement for reunification.

Now that outsiders and the anti-reunification forces in south Korea have become all the more undisguised in their moves to block national harmony and reunification and foster and escalate the north-south confrontation it is necessary for the Korean nation to steadfastly maintain independence while regarding it as its life and soul in order to achieve the cause of national reunification and pave a wide avenue for development and prosperity.

History and reality clearly prove that the issue of the country's reunification should be solved by the concerted efforts of the Koreans on the principle of national independence under any circumstances.
