Present there were Kim Yong Dae, chairman of the Central Committee of the Korean Social Democratic Party, Ryu Mi Yong, chairperson of the Central Committee of the Korean Chondoist Chongu Party, Kim Wan Su, director of the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the Democratic Front for the Reunification of the Fatherland, leading officials of public organizations, officials concerned and working people in Pyongyang.

Speeches were made by Kim Yong Dae, Thae Hyong Chol, president of the Academy of Social Sciences, An Kyong Ho, director of the Secretariat of the Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Fatherland, Ri Jong Hyok, director of the National Reunification Institute, and Ro Song Sil, chairperson of the Central Committee of the Korean Democratic Women's Union.

Speakers said that the adoption and publication of the "Declaration for Development of the North-South Relations and Peace and Prosperity" in October last year provided a firm guarantee for more energetically advancing the June 15 era of reunification, adding that the declaration absolutely supported and approved by the public at home and abroad was a shining embodiment and precious fruition of the outstanding idea and leadership of Kim Jong Il.

They explained and proved that the said declaration is a practical common document as it indicates a true way of upholding and embodying the idea of "By our nation itself" enshrined in the June 15 joint declaration and a banner putting strong impetus to the independent development and reunification of the nation.

The declaration serves as highly important guidelines for bringing about a new phase in developing the inter-Korean relations and achieving national reunification as it indicates overall practical ways and measures for adhering to the June 15 joint declaration and positively embodying it and boosting those relations in the direction of reunification on the basis of mutual respect and confidence.

Explaining that the October 4 declaration is a peace declaration which calls for putting an end to the military hostile relations between the north and the south, defusing tension and ensuring peace on the Korean Peninsula, they referred to measures for implementing it.

They underscored the need for all Koreans to turn out in the struggle to implement the above-said declarations under the uplifted banner of Songun and thus shatter the moves of the separatist forces at home and abroad and accomplish the historic cause of national reunification through their concerted efforts.
