Pyongyang, October 3 (KCNA) -- The South Headquarters of the National Alliance for the Country's Reunification released a statement on Sept. 28, calling for strong resistance to the Lee Myung Bak dictatorial regime hell-bent on the fascist suppression. The statement charged that the regime is making a sweeping roundup on a large scale against the Solidarity for Implementing the South-North Joint Declaration, a reunification movement organization which has taken the lead in the struggle for national reunification, by dint of the "National Security Law" when the first anniversary of the October 4 declaration is coming near. Saying that such reckless suppression intensified under the pretext of "security" can never be pardoned, the statement stressed the need for the people from all walks of life to unite and turn out in the struggle to frustrate the Lee Myung Bak dictatorial regime's extremely violent suppression, policy for deteriorating the living of people and anti-June 15 rowdyism. The People's Solidarity for the Repeal of the "National Security Law" and other civic and public organizations, too, called a press conference outside the Intelligence Service in Seoul on Sept. 29 in denunciation of the puppet authorities' crackdown upon the Solidarity. Speakers at the press conference pointed out that the suppression by the Intelligence Service is being intensified after the emergence of the Lee Myung Bak "government". They described the repression of the reunification movement organization as an anti-reunification and traitorous deed of totally denying the June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration. Warning that the "government" would face a stern punishment by the people if it continues resorting to the anachronistic repression, they demanded the abrogation of the NSL and disbandment of the IS. Meanwhile, the Institute for Civil Rights Studies in south Korea under the Solidarity and the Headquarters of the Movement for the Withdrawal of the U.S. Forces issued statements on Sept. 28, at which they demanded halt to the repression of the Solidarity and release of those arrested. |
