Present there were Chairman of the Central Committee of the Korean Social Democratic Party Kim Yong Dae who is chairman of the National Reconciliation Council, Chairwoman of the Central Committee of the Korean Chondoist Chongu Party Ryu Mi Yong who is chairwoman of the Council for the Reunification of Tangun's Nation, Vice-Chairman of the Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Fatherland O Ik Je, Presidium Member of the Central Committee of the Democratic Front for the Reunification of the Fatherland Kang Ryon Hak, Director of the Secretariat of the Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Fatherland An Kyong Ho, officials concerned and working people in Pyongyang.

At first there was a memorial service for Tangun.

Then Vice-Chairman of the Council for the Reunification of Tangun's Nation Kang Chol Won made a report.

Recalling that the Foundation Day of Korea is significantly commemorated every year, he said that the Korean nation is paying high tribute to President Kim Il Sung, who performed immortal exploits for the development of the national history by making sure that the ancestral father of the Korean nation was found and King Tangun's Mausoleum was built as a magnificent edifice, and extending warm thanks to General Secretary Kim Jong Il.

It is entirely thanks to Songun that the Korean nation became able to hold significant events on the Foundation Day of Korea, he said, adding that the Songun politics pursued by Kim Jong Il serves as patriotic banner and a treasured sword for defending the nation.

He noted that in order to overcome the difficulties and trials before the Koreans in their efforts to achieve national reunification and steadily glorify the June 15 era of reunification all of them should settle the issue of the country's reunification by their concerted efforts from the stand of independence, placing the dignity and interests of the nation above anything else.

He accused the Lee Myung Bak conservative regime in south Korea of working hard to defame the main spirit of the June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration and making a mess of the successes made in the efforts to implement them, while getting frantic with sycophancy towards the U.S. and the confrontation with fellow countrymen.

He called on all Koreans in the north and the south and overseas to unite close in the idea of "By our nation itself" and thus smash the U.S. imperialists and south Korean ultra-right conservative forces' moves to perpetuate the national split and open up a new era of independent reunification, peace and prosperity.
