The action headquarters of the 16th-term south Korean Federation of University Student Councils (Hanchongryon) in its statement on Oct. 1 branded the Lee Myung Bak dictatorial regime's suppression of the Solidarity for Implementing the South-North Joint Declaration as a fascist action which can never be justified.

The recent crackdown fully revealed the true colors of the regime seeking to totally scrap the June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration and put an end to the era of reunification, the statement said, and went on:

The Lee Myung Bak "government" has left no stone unturned to spread the conception of regarding the north as "the principal enemy" after cooking up the "Socialist Workers' Federation case." Not content with this, it is playing a poor trick to implant the consciousness of Cold War confrontation into the minds of the people by faking up another case of "enemy-benefiting organization."

Branding the recent large case cooked up under the pretext of "security" as a declaration of an all-out war against the people, Hanchongryon will turn out in the struggle to deal heavy setbacks at the "government".

The Taegu and North Kyongsang Provincial Federation of University Student Councils under Hanchongryon in its statement on Sept. 29 warned that all the people would never pardon the recent action of the regime. It urged the authorities to stop the suppression of the reunification movement organizations at once.

The Youth and Students Solidarity for Implementing the June 15 Joint Declaration, too, released a statement titled "Crackdown on the Solidarity for Implementing the South-North Joint Declaration is declaration of war against the people" on the same day. The statement accused the security authorities of continuing to spread the wave of suppression to other reunification movement organizations.
