The statement noted that the said declaration adopted at the north-south summit last year is a historic declaration which helped usher in a new era in which Koreans are striving to achieve independent reunification, peace and prosperity in the history of the nation by rejecting foreign forces by their concerted efforts and expanding and developing the inter-Korean relations on a higher stage.

The adoption of the said declaration gave further momentum to the desire of all compatriots for independent reunification, the statement said, and went on:

The said declaration, a result of General Secretary Kim Jong Il's strong will for reunification and his wise leadership, is a practical programme for developing the inter-Korean relations and opening up a new era of independent reunification, peace and prosperity by the concerted efforts of Koreans.

As soon as the Lee Myung Bak group, sycophantic towards the U.S., came to power, they cried out for confrontation with fellow countrymen. They have laid grave obstacles in the way of achieving reconciliation and unity of the nation and developing the inter-Korean relations and got evermore desperate in their moves for confrontation with the DPRK, totally negating the June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration recognized, supported and approved by all Koreans and the world people and peddling the anti-reunification watchword "no nukes, opening and 3,000 dollars".

The reality calls upon all Koreans to turn out in the nation-wide struggle to decisively smash the anti-reunification moves of the Lee group, adhere to the June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration to the end under the banner of "By our nation itself" and create a new history of independent reunification, peace and prosperity.

All Koreans in the north and the south and overseas should firmly unite as one to resolutely foil the Lee group's sycophantic and treacherous acts of violating the dignity and sovereignty of the nation and selling off its interests and threatening peace and security, subservient to foreign forces, and dynamically advance the June 15 era of reunification.
