Pyongyang, October 6 (KCNA) -- The Action Headquarters of the 16th-term south Korean Federation of University Student Councils (Hanchongryon) on Oct. 2 issued a statement entitled "We denounce the arrest and suppression of the executive chairman of the Youth and Students' Solidarity for Implementing the June 15 Joint Declaration".
The statement referred to the fact that the executive chairman was detained on charges of "violation of the 'National Security Law'" on Sept. 27.
Urging the termination of the Lee Myung Bak regime engaging itself in the fascist dictatorship to stamp out the progressive forces, the statement declared that Hanchongryon would turn out in the struggle against the unpopular regime in a do-or-die spirit.
It demanded that the security authorities stop crackdown upon candle-light actions and immediately set free the executive chairman.
