Noting that the inter-Korean summit was arranged again and the "Declaration for Development of North-South Relations and Peace and Prosperity" was adopted in Pyongyang in October, 2007 thanks to General Secretary Kim Jong Il's patriotic will for reunification and his bold decision, the statement introduced the declaration in detail.

The October 4 declaration is a great banner for independent reunification of Korea, it said, and continued:

The declaration is powerfully encouraging all Koreans in the north and the south and abroad in their efforts to drive the U.S. forces out of south Korea and reunify the country.

Enshrined in the declaration is the desire of the Korean nation to reunify the country independently, replace the armistice mechanism by a durable peace mechanism and thus ensure security on the Korean Peninsula.

The Lee Myung Bak group serving the U.S. and standing against reunification is desperately working to block it but it can never stop the Korean nation from advancing toward reconciliation and reunification.

The Korean people's struggle to reunify the country under the banner of the June 15 North-South Joint Declaration and the October 4 declaration is sure to triumph.
