The statement recalled that for the past one year since the publication of the historic October 4 declaration the headquarters has worked hard to open up a new era of independent reunification and peace and prosperity along with the June 15 era that was ushered in under the banner of "By our nation itself."

The U.S. imperialists are now rendering the situation on the Korean Peninsula extremely tense while openly posing a threat of preemptive nuclear attack on the DPRK in a bid to prevent inter-Korean reconciliation, cooperation and reunification, the statement charged.

The Lee Myung Bak dictatorial regime and sycophantic treacherous forces are getting hell-bent on the fascist suppression of progressive forces, it pointed out, adding: Nothing can dampen the spirit of the people who have turned out in the struggle to get the U.S. forces withdrawn, bring down dictatorship and achieve national reunification.

The statement further said:

All Koreans are full of conviction that they can certainly open up the new era of national prosperity and independent reunification if they pool their will and strength.

The headquarters will never stop the advance for achieving reconciliation and cooperation in the spirit of "By our nation itself" and strengthening the solidarity among the south and the north and the overseas sides.
